Recently I attended the World Internet Summit for 3 days on the Gold Coast. It was fun; it was scary; it was confusing; it was challenging. And at the end I felt a bit as if I had been exposed to the “Seven Easy Steps to Open Heart Surgery” – in other words, it is all so easy that anyone can do it – just research your patient, get an operating theatre, outsource other tasks (nurse, anaesthetics etc), research appropriate tools, cut open, repair as required, stich back up, check on blood pressure, and monitor. Try slightly different variations to find which performs best – sounds easy doesn’t it? But the devil is in the detail. Here I will share some of my journey in an attempt to assist others but also to inrease my own learning through attempting to convey what I learn.

All the best until next time!

SCORM was initially developed by the United States Department of Defense. Sharable Content Object Re

SCORM was initially developed by the United States Department of Defense. Sharable Content Object Reference Model is the standard for Internet learning, due to its capabilities and superior instruction elements. It is a compilation of inter-related technical specifications created to conform with AICC, IMS, and IEEE specifications, and unifies one content model framework that embodies other designs while simultaneously working alone. Technically, it is an e-learning content aggregation model and a run-time environment for various learning objects.

For those who do not recognize the technical explanation of SCORM, it is a domain profile, using content packaging and simple sequencing specifications. Because it was conventionalized by the Department of Defense, it can rationally claim high standards of operations and systems capabilities. Many other software programs also exploit SCORM-compliant standards, and it is becoming the basic framework for large corporation application and appellation.

How it is used

SCORM is the macrostructure for e-learning class design, subsistence, and application. It lets technicians customize and create e-learning programs that concentrate on job-essential functions for multiple users at varied levels. Technicians and trainers can master SCORM software and code, without an unjust amount of time and hassle, comparable to parallel software. It is cost-efficient, interoperable, and reusable. This allows companies to generate and compose training modules from internal and external sources. The reusable feature is used to develop training courses at variable levels for individuals, creating individualized content that can be orientated at all skills from entry-level to upper management.

SCORM can be used to bookmark, develop, and execute courses that are designated to suit the unique needs of large or small corporations. It works well in conjunction with programs such as Moodle, BlackBoard, TeacherContact, and ReloadEditor. Based on the specific edition that the company incorporates, capabilities will contrast and different recognized bugs have been repaired.

Editions Available

*note* there may be additional editions when you read this post. We offer the latest edition training.

There are presently three editions of SCORM, but the first two are largely antiquated due to discrepancies and inoperable run-time errors. The third edition amended many of these, and is now the standard for similar applications.

SCORM 1.1–This version employed a Course Structure Format XML file to develop content structure, but had no basis for metadata. It was cast aside in favor of SCORM 1.2, and is primarily obsolete in its totality.

SCORM 1.2–Even though it is primarily a compilation of upgrades to the 1.1 version, it is still prevalent and widely used by many businesses requiring e-learning modules and Internet learning classes.

SCORM 2004–The 2004 edition of SCORM has had three releases. The first release, January 2004, presented companies with varied version changes. The second release, July 2004, made available improved Content Aggregation Model and Run-Time Environment. The third release, October 2006, elucidated a host of interaction requirements, sequencing specifications, and interoperability necessities.

SCORM 2004 is the most commonplace of the SCORM applications, due to its superior features and a basis on rectified IEEE standards. It offered companies an improved ability to reuse modules from other companies or partners while giving them the advantage of augmenting systems without completely revamping current data.

I should have gone to MIT.
OK, I shouldn’t have done the pub crawl the night before the SAT’s…and I might have focused on my grades a little more. But never mind that. Our time has come.

MIT is now free and on the internet.

Well, sort of.

Check out this link to OpenCourseWare.com. I listened to two physics lectures last week (video lectures) by Professor Walter Lewin. Here’s the link to Prof Lewin’s first lecture (LINK HERE)…I even understood what he was saying.

Friends of mine will remember when I argued that MIT (and other top schools) professors were really not better than those at Jackson Hole Community College and Ski School. Well, I was wrong. You’ll understand what I mean when you listen to and watch Professor Lewin’s lectures. Yes, professors can be geniuses at merely communicating…and Prof Lewin is a genius!

This is a hot new movement.

No, you can’t get a degree…yet. But you can listen to lectures and read lecture notes for TOP SCHOOL’s around the world.

Check it out.

I had said that I was going to write every day. Boy, I have not kept to that! Between my website, daughter’s website, granddaughter, housework, husband, etc. I seem to stay too busy. When I worked outside of the home, I was better at organizing my time.

The more I get into the internet world, the more I realize I need to learn. I have been doing a great deal of reading and research on how to learn what I need to know. At times it seems totally overwhelming. I have learned that if I get involved with too much at one time, I do not learn much. I am better to stay with one thing and learn it well, before I tackle another.

I want to learn how to become an affilate on the net, so I am going to attempt to build a website, a squeeze page and then acquire some things to market. My biggest obstacle is to know what to give away in order to get people to give me their names and email addresses to develop a mailing list. It has been suggested I write an ebook, but then I need a subject. I am sure that I could write it, but how do I give away an ebook on perhaps “how to take care of your skin”, when I am marketing things that are not related in anyway?

I have found that I am on a lot of lists and I get a lot of email, wanting me to purchase their products or their affiliate’s products. Most of them are going to help me to make a $1000 before I go to bed, or a million this year; I am sure you know the drill. I have found that it is difficult for a newbie to know what is good and what is not. I have downloaded many free ebooks to find that they are nothing I can understand or use.

Being of the book reading generation, I find it much easier to print out the ebooks and read them that way. I can use my marker to highlight and make notes in the margins, etc. After printing a few, I have learned to look them over before I print them to make sure it is something I would use. I also have learned to change the font to a smaller size, so that I do not print so many pages, as many of them are using very large fonts. (I think that is so that the book appears to be longer than it really is.)

I am just going to keep on going, and maybe someday I will be writing a book about how I have make millions on the internet. In the meantime, I sure am glad I have other income to fall back on!

The subject of my report is why and who are using blogs as part of their everyday life? To learn, to communicate and to muse. Mary tells us the more learnered population (and I thought I was getting there!) are using this method of communication to seek the information needed and to collaborate with their peers.

As I and some of my fellow students have never used, needed or now, ever wanted to know about blogs, let alone use them – I went seeking answers. The website (yes, not a blog) I found among the many was http://www.caslon.com.au/weblogprofile1.htm#demographics and this I have found very interesting. It appears that no one can agree on how many blogs there actually are in use. Many are started but many are never looked at or pointed to from another blogger.
