Depuis quelques semaines la Bretagne est à l’honneur dans les médias, du fait de la présence de deux clubs régionaux en finale de la Coupe de France : Rennes et Guingamp. Canal + ayant même prévu de diffuser en direct la finale du championnat régional.

Sur ce blog, j’essaierai de ne pas trop parler de ma passion pour le football, mais l’actualité me permet de faire exceptionnellement une entorse à la règle. Il reste à jouer une journée de championnat en Ligue 1 et en Ligue 2 pour déterminer le sort de 4 clubs de la région : Lille, Valenciennes, Lens et Boulogne sur Mer.

Les deux premiers clubs sont en Ligue 1 et ont deux objectifs bien différents. Le Losc est en ballotage défavorable pour se qualifier pour la coupe de l’UEFA, mais dispose d’une chance infime lors de cette dernière et ultime journée pour valider son ticket européen. La condition ? Gagner à tout prix et prier pour que Rennes, Paris et Toulouse soient défaits. Malgré tout, la saison ne sera pas gâchée car Lille devrait se qualifier pour la Coupe Intertoto qui permet via des tours préliminaires de se qualifier pour l’UEFA.

Pour Valenciennes en revanche, la saison est d’ores et déjà terminée. L’équipe terminera dans le ventre mou du classement, aux alentours de  la 10ème place. Une place plus qu’honorable pour l’un des plus petits budgets de ce championnat qui ne vit que sa deuxième saison parmi l’élite. Son seul point d’interrogation est l’avenir de son entraîneur Antoine Kambouaré. Ira, ira pas au PSG durant l’intersaison ? Réponse la semaine prochaine.

Lens et Boulogne sont quant à eux en Ligue 2. Pour les Sang et Or, la montée est acquise depuis quelques semaines, seule sa position reste en suspens. Un match nul suffit lors de la dernière journée pour couronner l’équipe d’un sacre de champion. Une belle année pour les Sartois qui ont réussi l’exploit de remonter juste un an après s’être vu adjuger la place au purgatoire. Le recrutement commence déjà avec la signature du Brésilien de Guingamp Eduardo.

La position de Boulogne est plus délicate. L’équipe de la Côte d’Opale est au pied du podium après sa précieuse victoire au stade Bollaert cette semaine, mais est précédée d’un point de Montpellier. L’équipe entraînée par Roland Courbis et dirigée par Louis Nicollin n’en peut plus de ce championnat de seconde zone et rêve d’une montée pour enfin recommencer à rêver comme lors des plus belles années qui ont marqué l’histoire du club. Là aussi, une victoire permettrait d’entretenir l’espoir à condition que les Heraultais soient défaits de leur côté.

Avec un peu de chance, la Ligue 1 comporterait dans ses rangs 4 clubs nordistes l’an prochain. Le Nord Pas de Calais représenterait 20 % de l’élite. De beaux derbys en perspective seront à prévoir et de terribles chocs entre 59 et 62 ! Croisons les doigts …

To enter the UEFA Champions league, clubs must meet predetermined financial, and infrastructural conditions imposed by UEFA – such as a stadium with high standard conditions and press conferece rooms. Also, clubs must be licensed by their own national association in order to be able to play in the UEFA Champions League.

The UEFA Champions League is for national championship club champions of all the UEFA nation members – exception made for Liechtenstein because it has no championship. From 2007 on, the Andorra and San Marino can also present their national league champions to the UEFA Champions League.

The Champions League it also open to all clubs ranging from 2nd to 4th position in the strongest leagues, this number depends on the clubs country rank in the UEFA coefficients table, as from October 2008 for the first 15th places :

This means that the higher the ranking the nation has, the most clubs it has participation the UEFA Champions League, as follows:

• 1st to 3rd ranked nations : 4 clubs
• 4th to 6th ranked nations : 3 clubs
• 7th to 15th ranked nations : 2 clubs
• 16th and lower ranked nations : 1 club

The countries association rank on the UEFA Coefficient table also affects the UEFA Champions League stage where their teams will enter the competition:The 3 best placed nations (with 4 participation clubs each) will have 2 teams (national champions and runners-up) entering directly in the groups stage. Their 3rd and 4th   placed teams will enter the 3rd qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.

• The 4th to 15th placed nations will have at least one team entering directly to the groups stage of the competition.
• Nations ranked lower than the above on the UEFA Coefficients Table will have one team participating on the 1st qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.

A new added rule since 2007 on is if the last years UEFA Champions League Champion Team fails to win a placement on their respective national championship for participating on the competition, that team will replace the last placed team that placed in a qualifying spot for the Champions League, and that team will participate on the UEFA Europa League.

In the 2009-2010 season there will be great improovements and crucial changes on how teams qualify to the UEFA Champions League, we will tell all about that on a future post.

To participate in the UEFA Europa League, as weel as for the UEFA Champions League, teams must meet predetermined financial, and infrastructural conditions imposed by UEFA – altough those have been told to be a mit more permissive regargind the fact that most teams entering the UEFA Europa League usually don’t have the finnacial capabilities of those participating in the UEFA Champions League, making this one of the most common differences between the both leagues. Again, like the UEFA Champions League, on the UEFA Europa League, participating clubs must be licensed by their own national association in order to be accepted.

Clubs admission to the UEFA Europa League are simillar to the UEFA Champions League. Clubs are accepted based on the, explained above, UEFA Coefficients table position of their country and aswell on their own national championship finnishing place.

As what concerns the  nations placemente on the UEFA Coefficient Table, the reserved places are as follows:

• 1st to 9th ranked nations : National Cup Winner and 3 other teams sent to the qualification rounds.
• All the remaining nations : National Cup Winner and 2 other teams on the qualification rounds, except for Andorra, Liechtenstein and San Marino who will have only their National Cup Winner.

Along with this list of clubs, there are 4 spots reserved to Fair Play winners.

The 15 loosing teams from the UEFA Champions League from the qualification round 2 will join the UEFA Europa League qualification round.

The 10 loosing teams from the UEFA Champions League from the qualification round 3 will join the UEFA Europa League Group Stage.

Twelve teams from the group stage  (1st and 2nd placed teams on each group)of the UEFA Europa League will advance to the knock out stage. The 8 3rd placed teams on each group from the UEFA Champions League group stage will join these teams on the knockout stage of the UEFA Europa League.

Some countries like England and France will reserve one spot for their League Cup Winner, along with their National Cup Winner, and the remaining spot for the best placed teams on the national championship that haven’t made into the UEFA Champions League.

The UEFA Europa League format is projected for the 3 years cycle of 2009-2012 seasons.
There will be a group stagewith48 teams with 12 groups of 4 teams each, double round, on wich each team defeats the other 3 home and away.

The qualification will change from the UEFA Cup current rules.

Association ranked 7,8 or 9 in the UEFA Coefficients will have the Cup winner and 3 more teams to the new UEFA Europa League qualification rounds, all other nations will have their Cup Winner and 2 teams, apart from Andorra, Liechtenstein and San Marino who will only send the Cup Winner. Normally, the other teams to be included will be the next highest ranked clubs on their domestic league after those who have achieved a spot in the UEFA Champions League. England and France will continue use one of those spots for their League Cup’s winner. Plus, 3 other places in the first 4 qualifying rounds will still be reserved for Fair Play winners.

Usually, the higher the national football association is ranked in the UEFA, the later in the competition will their clubs enter. Every participating team, exception to the title holder, will have to play at least on qualification round.

Aditionally, 15 losing teams from the UEFA Champions League qualification round number 2 will enter in the 4th and last UEFA Europa League qualification round. The 10 losers of the UEFA Champions League qualification round 3 will enter directly on the UEFAEuropa League groups stage. The 12 winners and 12 runners-up in the group stage will advance to the first knock out round, together with the 8 3rd placed clubs of the UEFA Champions league group stage.

Similar to what happened in with the UEFA Cup Winners Cup being folded into the UEFA CHampions League, the Intertoto Cup will be included into the UEFA Europa League.

National cup winners clubs who have qualified for any European competition based on league placing will not hand their UEFA Europa League place to the losing national cup finalist. Their place in the competition will instead devolve onto the highest-placed team in the league not yet in European competition.

Ένας πολύ καλός Πανιώνιος σε όλη την διάρκεια του αγώνα,νίκησε με 3-1 την ΟΦΚ Βελιγραδίου.
Ο Χουτος ήταν φανταστικός και ήταν καθολα έτοιμος για ένα αγώνα πρόκρισης ,παρ όλο που είναι ακόμα μέση Ιούλη.
Ο Μπαρκογλου έδειξε ότι θα βοηθήσει σημαντικά στην επίθεση και ήταν καλός.
Γενικά όλα τα παιδιά έπαιξαν καλά και μεθοδικά απέναντι σε μια νεανική ομάδα.
Δεν είδα καμία βελτίωση στο κεντρικό αμυντικό δίδυμο και στη θέση του τερματοφύλακα,πράγμα που με κάνει να ανησυχώ για το ερχόμενο πρωτάθλημα.
Η ομάδα όσο και να πετάει μπροστά αν δεν διορθωθούν τα τεράστια αμυντικά κενά,δεν θα φτάνει εύκολα στην νίκη.

If ever there was an argument against summer football in Britain it was this game. Despite a 3 o’clock kick-off the floodlights were on from the start as the rain battered down on an early July day that felt more like mid-October.

It’s a few years since I’ve been to Easter Road and little has changed. I used to live not too far from the ground and walking down Easter Road I was reminded of the various shops I used to frequent. Surprised that Movie Xpress is still on the go. It still had the same straight-to-Video (now Straight-to-DVD) titles in the window. I also noticed a wine shop called Cornelius. ‘I wonder if that’s named after the guy from Planet of the Apes,’ I thought, then noticed the logo featuring a wine glass that formed the centre of that very ape’s face.

The 6th of July is without doubt too early to be playing your first competitive match of the season, but the Inter Toto competition demands it as it puts numerous middle-of-the-road European sides through their paces, before they can join up with the UEFA Cup proper.

Hibs looked sluggish against an Elfsborg side in the midst of their domestic season. An easy excuse to make, but the Swedes were just a lot sharper.

They were there for the taking however and Hibs had a good few chances, which they just couldn’t take. Their defence was unfortunately several yards off the pace and repeatedly left gaps at the back.

So it was no surprise when Emir Bajrami got in behind the defence and slotted the ball past Ma-Kalambay in the Hibs’ goal. Ma-Kalambay incidentally seemed to take an age whenever he was releasing the ball, unsure whether to throw short to Van Zanten or launch a long ball forward.

A second goal was always on the cards and it was no surprise when Elfsborg got it thanks to 31 year-old defender Andreas Augustsson. That was the cue for many Hibs fans to make for the exit. To be fair they didn’t miss much.

The Elfsborg side contained a few Swedish internationals such as the keeper Johan Wiland and the 93 times capped Anders Svensson. Coming on as a substitute was Stefan Ishizaki, who I remember as being shit-hot in Championship Manager a few years ago.

The best entertainment, it has to be said, was at half-time, when Graeme Lightbody, the Unofficial World Keepie-Uppie champion came on and showed off some dazzling skills with the ball. This including walking across the pitch while balancing it on his head. He was on the same train home as me so I could have asked him how he goes about claiming the official title. But chose to save him from such follow-up questions as, “Could you balance a ball on your head on this train, all the way back to Glasgow?”

I think Hibs can safely kiss goodbye to Europe for this season. They really needed to take a win to Sweden if they were going to get through to the next round.

Apre i battenti in forma ufficiale il calciomercato, ma il Napoli targato Marino ha già messo due colpi in canna, Maggio e Denis. Si dice che chi ben comincia è a metà dell’opera, speriamo sia così. Vuole la Uefa il diggì azzurro, così come la vogliono i tifosi. Cosa ne pensi di Denis e Maggio?
Due grandi acquisti. Maggio è il migliore esterno destro che potesse arrivare, è un calciatore molto duttile, importantissimo per questa nuova squadra che sta nascendo. German Denis è già un nazionale argentino e visto il parco attaccanti molto vasto della selezione argentina, sicuramente è un buon segnale. Credo che l’esperienza Cesena faccia poco testo, bisognerà vedere come si integrerà con il pocho, ma guardando le loro caratteristiche sono portato a pensare che sarà un tandem perfetto. Mi fido del diggì azzurro.
Oggi parte la campagna acquisti, quanti ne servono ancora al Napoli?
Serve un esterno a sinistra, un difensore veloce e soprattutto un catalizzatore, uno che detta i tempi, un regista d’esperienza per intenderci.
Reja è l’allenatore giusto per la Uefa?
Si, senza dubbio, era giusto dargli fiducia, credo abbia ampiamente dimostrato di poter allenare una piazza difficile come Napoli. Poi di tecnici in giro che centrano gli obiettivi ne vedo ben pochi.
L’Intertotò darà fastidio al cammino azzurro in campionato?
Credo di no. Il Napoli ha una rosa in grado di affrontare subito la competizione senza gravare sul rendimento della squadra, poi ora è tutto cambiato, si tratta di due spareggi, il Napoli andrà in Uefa proprio attraverso questo mini torneo, ne sono convinto.
Calaiò lo terresti?
Lo lascerei andare, c’è poco da fare non ha la fiducia del tecnico ed ora anche dell’ambiente. Personalmente gli ho consigliato di andare via, credo proprio lui debba pretenderlo, Siena poi è una piazza tranquilla, che potrebbe aiutarlo molto.

..e pure questo campionato è finito, noi dell’ASR 1927 abbiamo lottato fino all’ultima giornata per un sogno, ma un po’ perchè l’Inter ha 40 giocatori tutti dello stesso livello (je so mancati tutto l’anno Samuel, Dacourt, Cordoba ma praticamente nun s’è visto!), un po’ perchè nei momenti cruciali i nerazzurri sono stati aiutati dagli arbitri, non ce l’abbiamo fatta.

Pero’ considerando che l’anno scorso i punti di distacco dall’Inter sono stati 22 e quest’anno sono solo 3, vedo un futuro molto roseo per la AS Roma.

Forse questo è l’anno giusto per fare 2-3 investimenti buoni, per competere in Europa e vincere in Italia; per fare questi investimenti possiamo aiutarci anche e soprattutto con una vendita, quella di un giocatore brasiliano che fa l’esterrno e in molte partite di quest’anno è apparso addirittura irritante..

Per il resto oltre a Internazionale e AS Roma 1927, le altre due posizioni di Champions sono andate a Juventus (Del Piero capocannoniere e Trezeguet vice capocannoniere) e Fiorentina che con i suoi giovani ha mostrato un bel calcio.

Il Milan non è riuscito ad ottenere un piazzamento in Champions e si accontenta insieme alla Sampdoria di Cassano e all’Udinese del duo Di Natale-Quagliarella del piazzamento Uefa.

Il Napoli al ritorno in serie A, si piazza in Intertoto.

Dopo una lunga lotta conclusa all’ultima giornata se ne vanno in B, Livorno, Empoli e Parma dopo 15 anni di serie A..

Che dire della Lazio, una stagione del tutto fallimentare, la gestione Lotito non da’ un minimo di chiarezza alla società che rischia di perdere Delio Rossi un buon allenatore e i suoi giocatori piu’ rappresentativi Berhami, Pandev ecc.

( p.s. -36 dall’AS Roma sinceramente da quando seguo il calcio non l’avevo mai visto!! )
