Things I’ll normally rant to Z but he’s asleep and probably too tired cos he’s been here the whole day for me. Listening to all my various nonsense and unneccesary sobfest.

Just felt like sometimes. You’re very scared of losing that someone. that’s how I’m feeling right now. You’re always on my mind and it’s been a whole day. You may not seem important to me, but I’ll feel so lost without you and I can just spend hours looking at you thinking of all the good times we’ve shared. You can never be replaced.

Also, although I’m feeling a little sore over the whole thing, I feel kind of sad that this is how it’s going to turn out. I had so much faith in you, really! I thought at least you’ll think of me like I thought of you. But it’s been two times?I still don’t see it. What to say? Other than disappontment, I can’t seem to feel anymore for you right now.

I used to dance regularly at a local Moroccan restaurant.  Sadly, the restaurant has since gone through a drastic remodel, so it has entirely lost its charm, but I love thinking back to the nights I danced there.  The entire atmosphere was spectacular: the walls draped with rich fabrics in red and green and blue, trimmed in gold and silver; the Moroccan lamps hanging from the ceiling, casting a gentle candlelight glow through the colored glass on the dining room; the low couches and chairs, softly cushioned; the mosaic tile and wrought iron tables.  All of it was stunning, colorful, delightful.  The air was filled with a rich scent, combining the exotic spices in the food and the subtle aroma of burning incense.  The lights were always dim, giving the room a calm, mysterious, exotic feel.

Though it was incredibly difficult dancing through the narrow aisles between the tables (and around waiters, at that), the whole experience was a lot of fun.  Between the atmosphere and the music and being in costume, it felt like being transported to another world for a few hours.  Although, the first time I danced there, it was a bit awkward being quite that up-close and personal with the audience, since I was so accustomed to performing on a stage in front of hundreds of people at a time.  Still, the restaurant gave a more intimate, interactive experience for the diners, and that was a huge part of the appeal of the establishment.  It’s really a shame they had to destroy it.

At the back of the restaurant was a slightly recessed alcove in which was set a long, low couch, in front of which was a wide table.  This was the dancers’ table, and we got to sit there between sets, nibbling on hummus and pita bread while playing zills and zaghareeting for the other dancers (a zaghareet is the high-pitched ululation that you hear bellydancers give while others are dancing; it’s essentially a vocal applause, and not as raucous as the kind of cheering holler you’d give at something like a rock concert).  The restaurant didn’t pay us to dance there, but we did get free dinner and all the pita bread and Moroccan tea we could consume (not to mention the tips we got from the diners).  The Moroccan tea was pretty much the highlight of the evening for us.  The waiter would bring out a tray holding a teapot and a set of Moroccan tea glasses, and would lift the teapot high above the glasses as he poured.  There was a bit of a competition always going on among the waiters to see who could get the pot the highest without making a mess — which led to a round of very exuberant zaghareets from the dancers whenever one did a particularly impressive job.

Moroccan tea glasses are lovely: the rich colors, the intricate patterns, the lovely detail.  The tea is also wonderful.  Very sweet, so it was the quickest, easiest way to get us amped up for a long night of dancing.  It’s like instant energy — down one small glass of tea, and only a moment later you’re jumping up to dance energetically, feeling the music and grinning as you move among the tables.  Truly fantastic.

I needed to find a modern, intimate space for a December holiday luncheon.  I decided to check out the LONDON Hotel in West Hollywood.

What an amazing renovation of the old Belage Hotel!  I fell in love, the minute I stepped into the lobby.  This hotel is simply gorgeous and a depiction of modern sophistication and new Hollywood glamour. They have so many choices to have an event.  I’m not a big fan of hotel ballrooms but this ballroom was impressive.  The décor was neutral, elegant and just right for any occasion.   We headed upstairs to look at the exclusive Hampton Courts, a beautiful setting with an amazing view against the Los Angeles skyline.  This is a wonderful setting for a wedding, rehearsal dinner, cocktail party or outdoors dinner party.

I headed to the Gordon Ramsay Restaurant and just adored the private intimate dining room.  It was perfect for our style, intimate, elegant and stunning.   This is just a great spot for am intimate wedding, luncheon or cocktail party!

After doing the online dating scene for over a year now, I only started having some fun dates in the past three months. When I first started I was so worried the guys I was chatting with we’re psycho stalkers who wanted to slit my throat. Once I started meeting the guys I chatted with, I realized that I could trust my intuition.

If I get a bad vibe about someone I’m chatting with, if they say something that makes me uncomfortable, or even if the conversation is just overly boring, I move on and stop talking to him. The trick in online dating is to know when to stop talking with one and move on. Ask serious questions as soon as possible. If you don’t get the answers you want, MOVE ON! There are tons of guys out there who ARE what you’re looking for.

The process is very fast paced, and rightly so. There is no reason to keep talking to anyone if you’re not enjoying it. If you’re talking just to be nice, you’re wasting your energy. The odds are a new guy will come along who is exactly your type, but by then you’ll be exhausted from chatting with the all wrong people and miss out on a fun date or maybe more.

When you do find someone you get a good feeling about, move the relationship to the ‘real world’ as soon as possible. As soon as you reach the point where you can’t learn anything more without meeting in person, DO IT. Wait till he asks or makes hints that he’d like to do something with you and then reply, “Ya, that’d be fun!” By the end of the chat, you’ll have a date set up.

How long do I usually wait to meet? It definitely depends on the guy. There have been a lot of dates I’ve set up after only 2 hours of chatting. It sounds risky, but I don’t chat for longer than 5 sentences with guys who make me uncomfortable in any way. If I am unsure about a guy, I’ll wait more like a week or two. If by then I don’t feel safe enough to meet him somewhere, I stop chatting.

The biggest mistake you can make in online dating is keeping it online too long. No, this is not the movie ‘You’ve Got Mail’. I have heard stories about people who have chatted with someone for two years, then finally met and were married within weeks.

I’m sorry, but this is the real world. When I started the online thing, I thought I would find the man of my dreams, chat with him online for anywhere from 3 months to a year, and then finally meet him in person and feel the magical fireworks explode. Wrongo! On one of my first attempts I kept the relationship online for about 2 months. When I finally met the guy, he turned out to be the shyest guy I’d ever met in my life. Very chatty on the computer, but entirely unconfident and silent in person. Oh boy!

It was a waste of two months. I could have found out what he was really like within a few days, but I kept it online too long. When dating online you can accidently develop a connection with someone based entirely on what they type in a chat box. TRUST ME. This is NOT GOOD.

After going on multiple dates with guys who seemed to be incredibly perfect online and entirely the opposite in person, I have learned it’s best to develop a connection with someone through literally dating them, NOT chatting back and forth for months or even years. You can’t tell anything about the person you are talking to until you MEET THEM IN PERSON. The internet provides a great way to meet new people, not a great way to develop relationships.

Yes, I may have experienced some odd dates through online dating, as my former posts will tell, but just think how horrible it would have been if I had waited an entire month or longer to find out the guy I was chatting with was kitty murderer (Click here to read the post). What a gigantic waste of time!

If you’re just starting to date online, or it just hasn’t been working for you, consider what I’ve said. Since I started doing it this way three months ago, I’ve had multiple dates per week. I’ve met a lot of fun guys, eaten a lot of great free food, and come very close to some serious relationships with 2 or 3 of them.

Move on quickly, meet the people you like chatting with in person as soon as possible. When you do, it’s not even really ‘online dating’ at all. It’s just dating.

A relaxing massage is one of my favorite guilty pleasures.  There’s nothing quite like lying on a warm padded table and having expert hands work the tension from my skin and muscles, reinvigorating the body and soul while clearing the mind of all its cares.  My massage therapist calls it a moment to just “bliss out”.

The whole experience — every sensory aspect of it — is a pure joy.  I hate being cold, so having a comfortably warm room and a heated blanket on the table helps me to drop the tension from my body and sink into the table.  There’s usually some sort of soft instrumental music or natural sounds playing — something calm and soothing to listen to.  Your eyes are closed, so you have the quiet isolation of lacking visual input — just a serene blackness, not a dark void but a calm sea that blocks out the chaos of the world for a moment.  Then you have the delightful scents of essential oils –  my particular favorite is lavender because it reminds me of the smell of henna on my skin.  When the massage therapist even so much as applies the oil to her hands from across the room, the scent carries directly to my nose and makes me instantly calm.  And, of course, there’s the pure physical joy of having hands applying just the right pressure in all the right places, stimulating the skin, working away the knots, revitalizing the body.  Part of me just wants to drift off, but part of me wants to stay awake and enjoy every second of that relaxing touch.  Everything from my back and shoulders, down to my feet, and even up to the slightest pressure on my forehead and around my eyes — and finishing with a good gentle scratch of nails through my hair, massaging my scalp and banishing the stress in my head — nothing could be better.

Then again, I suppose if you have the opportunity to share such an experience with someone you love, it could be infinitely better.  Sharing a moment of intimate, relaxing touch, calming away each others’ stresses and tension and leaving nothing but a blissful peace and relaxation, bringing two bodies close together in a silent, serene moment, enjoying the simple, basic human desire to touch and be touched.  It can be simple, intimate, sensual, or erotic, but at any level it satisfies the body, mind, and soul.

Damn, I swear there’s something wrong with my iPod Touch! ARGH freaking getting on my nerves! I’m gonna try resetting it once more. Zzz Restoring everything would mean that I will have to re-download every single application that I have there and it’s fucking stupid ‘cos I never use iTunes to download them but I download them manually from app button on the iPod itself. FML

Tomorrow I’m going to try to leave the house as early as possible like today, but I know it’s impossible for me to leave the house at like what? 830am tomorrow ‘cos I’ll only be meetin Lester and Freddy at 12 noon. Damn. What am I gonna do?! Sleep till 9? Do homework so she wouldn’t nag at me like nothing!? Not like she’s not nagging at me already. Fuck I hate her.

Somewhat had a semi-heart-to-heart talk with Qianhui regarding the ZEEs and my family. How much I need to go drinking. Feel like getting drunk. And how fucked up my family is. I mean, seriously, I’ve never felt more like escaping from this place this much. It’s taking a toll on me and my life. Thank god for friends and Z. I’m hanging on ‘cos of them.

Nevermind, shall not talk about all these. TOMORROW WHO’S UP FOR MJ SESSION! ME LESTER AND FREDDY SHORT OF ONE LEG!

Sometime during the summer, I had something like the following conversation with some friends on Facebook (I don’t have the original to refer back to, so I’m paraphrasing here):

Adam: I have a really bad headache.

Me: Solution — coffee.

Adam: Tried that, didn’t work; besides, it’s too hot for coffee.

Me: Hmmm…

Adam: Come on, I need help here

Me: Well I have an idea but I’m not sure I can say it… *blush*

Adam: Ooh!  Do tell!

Me: *sigh* Ok, here’s what you do — go home after work, crank the a/c to cool down, then take your wife to bed.  Good for stress relief, and I’ve heard it’s good for getting rid of headaches, too.

Adam: LOL!  I wasn’t expecting that out of you!

Jessica: Me neither!  Sounds like fun though!  I’m feeling a bit headachy myself…

Me: Ok this is sad…I’m the one giving the advice and I’m the only one in this conversation that isn’t married, so I have nobody to go home to 

Funny how women always use headaches as an excuse to not go to bed with their significant others (assuming it’s a genuine headache and not merely an excuse), when in fact sex is actually quite an effective headache remedy.  Get the heart pumping, blood flowing, and a good release will relax the body and help ease away that tension in your head.
