As a pug, I see a lot of interesting things. I’m a watcher of the world. I see it go by from the car window as my ears flap in the wind. I see it go by as I watch while sitting on a park bench, relaxing in a beach chair, or walking in the park. I see it on the tv while I’m snuggling on the couch. I want to share my thoughts on your human world and my adventures as a pug. I have a busy schedule of eating, snarfing, and playing, so I’ll share when I can, but oh my pugness, I have a lot to snarf with you.

Everyone has a story, and these days that translates into everyone having a blog. Or Twitter. Or Facebook. Or MySpace. Ad nauseum.

So what is my story? I think that’s a fair question that every first post should answer.

I’m a young gay woman in America. I came out as a bisexual, but am in a monogamous, committed relationship with a fellow woman. To most, that makes me a lesbian. I feel most comfortable self-identifying as merely gay or queer. To reiterate Dr. Kinsey, I believe that human sexuality operates on a continuum, but society defines me – by virtue of being in a same-sex marriage – as gay. Trying to narrow that down into being “bisexual” or “lesbian” seems to just muddy the waters of understanding for most people. Yes, I use “lesbian” outright in my blog title. That’s for two reasons: one is because it makes for a smoother, more eye-catching phrase. Two because I feel more akin and comfortable with in the lesbian community, where issues revolve around same-sex relationships rather than opposite-sex relationships (as can happen in the bisexual community). You may define me how you want – but it may help first to know how I define myself.

The aim of this blog is to throw into the world my own perspective on being who and what I am. Whether anyone else will find it interesting, I don’t know. My larger goal is selfish: I’ve met only one other person (namely, my wife) who has the same complex, sometimes contradictory, views. We don’t exactly fit in: neither of us are “typical” lesbians, neither of us are totally liberal or conservative, neither of us are totally professional or academic. The only thing we really seem to be, totally and completely, is poor. So f someone – anyone – at any time sees themselves in my account of our life, then at least we’ll know we’re not alone.

… I know, right? Yay, another lame zombie blog. I hear ya. That’s what I was thinking too when the idea came to me. Allow me to explain. For the last few months I’ve been pursuing a new hobby. (which is nothing really new for me… )

I had thought: what would I do if the apocalypse happened? In my mind, the apocalypse could take many forms:

• Zombie Outbreak
• Nuclear War
• Communist Takeover

You see where this list is going. So the whole thing is a paranoid / whimsical mental exercise. Obviously there is going to be no zombie apocalypse. There will probably be no nuclear war, and America probably wont turn into a massively communist nation.

However, it’s fun to think about it from this perspective: How can I ensure my family will survive? … hence the hobby (and eventually the blog)

So, for the last few months, I’ve been mentally prepping and scheming. I’ve been kicking over the ideas of arming myself, preparing bug-out bags, stocking food… the whole 9 ya know. Is it weird and paranoid? Probably… Is it a constructive hobby? hmmmmmm maybe. Is it fun anyway? Sure.

I like to learn lots of new things, this is a great way to justify that. (think conceal-carry permit, ham radio etc) This has got to be a guy’s dream hobby. I get to learn lots of manly skills and hey, if the power in my neighborhood goes out for 2 weeks, we wont die (insert maniacal throaty laughter here)

So with all that said, I’m going firmly into tongue-in-cheek mode and let the fun begin…..

Sorry I forgot to mention, I wont be surprised or disappointed if nobody ever reads this: I just want a way to collect my thoughts. (huge shrug here)

Writing is a wonderful experience. It can be uplifting, destroying, cathartic, heartfelt, or just plain technical. I have always enjoyed writing, though not for research/term papers or in another language.

I am only 23 years old, and considered to just be starting out in life. My entire life has been marked with upset and instability, but I have made it through with a slightly tougher outer shell and a buoyant attitude. This has not always been the case regarding boys. Everyone experiences this with the opposite sex, but I think I finally let my self-esteem issues and horrendous choice in dating finally take its toll on me. This blog is going to be my release for the trials I’ve been through in the past and what I will most likely encounter in the future.

This blog will be my way of realizing my self-worth. Oh, and to get me out of reading ONTD all the time. I swear, I spend more time on there reading the comments than I do sometimes working on homework.

Down with the 90’s is Montreal’s number 1 nostalgic party. We take it back to the “good ol days”.   When Ladies loved cool James. When Mark Wahlberg was Marky Mark. When Will Smith was the Fresh Prince. When mixtapes were on actual cassette tapes.  You get the point!

Anyways, we have decided to make a website dedicated to the 90’s.  We will be posting pics, music videos, stories of event that went down in that era.

If you haven’t already guessed I’m a vegetarian. Being only a teenager, this is kind of hard to do when you are the only veg in a family full of meat eaters. I’m  starting to solicit science fiction stories over Craig’s list  to remain a locally focused venue for writers to share their stories. Thus I have been looking into this copyright called creative commons, so that the writer remains with the legal rights and us here at KC StarBase can share it out to the greater populace. We are also beginning to search for voice talent to narrate the stories. KC StarBase is looking to give actors a great opportunity to practice this field and for those aspiring to get into the entertainment industry, so as beef up their acting resume.

I’ve created this blog for myself mainly so I can collect and organize various info regarding developing web-apps with Django & Python.

But, nonetheless, if this blog will help somebody to solve an issue they have – that’d be great.

So, let’s go. Let’s see what I’ll be able to come up with.

I’ve had more blogs than I can count on my hand and looking back, each one was ultimately a reflection on how messed up I was when I was reading the truth about Tuxedo and how I wasted my life when I was in Hungary.

I’m not sure if I’m trying to kill myself by drinking four cups of black gold in one sitting or if I’m trying to achieve something by it.

Commentary.

I just painted my nails, I can feel the coffee sloshing around in my stomach, I put on probably over 11 pounds now since the start of two years ago and I thought I was okay with it but I’m really not (I’m really not), my face is blotchy from the acne surgery I performed on it with a pair of tweezers, and I have a love/hate relationship with John Milton.

My hair is all over the bed.

Once you start, it is very difficult to stop.

For some people, this statement is true in the case of marathon running, cigarette smoking, or coffee consumption. For me, this applies to my very itchy feet for traveling. I believe I am somewhat of an addict – not just for mere travel but also for living and working in a new place for a significant period of time (>1 month). Case in point: in the past four years, I have lived and worked on four different continents.

These writings are an extended hand to the fellow world-wanderers, who are constantly looking to explore a new city, a new neighborhood, a new cuisine — or who are at least dreaming of doing so. They are lifted from my personal visits and experiences around the world – my impressions of the sights, fashion, design, and of course, cuisine.

This is somewhat a ‘whole new world’ to use the coined phrase of the Disney classic. Although the idea of blogging is not foreign to me, it seems narcissistic or egotistical to think that my ideas or ideals are worth reading about. For that reason precisely this hopefully will not be me. Hopefully this can bloom into a dichotomy of Christ-Centered mentality, and appreciation for hilarious occurrences of everyday life. Because let’s be serious, a lot of funny stuff happens every day. Look at it this way — Todays ridiculous fads (vampires in love) are simply that because someone didn’t make fun of them yesterday. So really my ridicule is for the betterment of mankind. Thank me later.

So who is this to? I dont expect this to draw attention for people, because it is nearly impossible for them to find out. My audience is my friends, the christian community that i live in and around, and perhaps the occasional Facebook stalker.

What can I say? I have been blogging for almost 3 years now.  I do not considered myself professional but what the heck, who cares?  I am doing this for myself.  I started this new site to start documenting what I have been experiencing while away from home.  But where is home?  I have been asking this myself a million times. 

I originally came from the Philippines but decided to follow the trend that year… leaving the country.  I decided to try my luck and migrated to Canada.  I would say it was a good move  professionally (maybe). I was hired by a company that is global – meaning a lot of travel!  That was then the start of being away from home. I started traveling around the world – as of this writing I have 32 countries in my list.

I should have started this blog long time ago… unfortunately I do not have time so I am only documenting the travel part and not the other stuff.  Well, there is always a time to start.  But honestly, I want to write because this blog will be my friend from now on. 

I will reminisce some of the past travel from time to time.
