Invitation

In the world of Multi-Level Marketing, one of the key areas that can help us become successful is on how we invite. Let’s check some tips shared by the experts:

• Invitation is one of the hardest yet rewarding stages in networking for a newbie. Start always with people close to you or within your vicinity. At least these people know that you are inviting them because you know and you believe in the business. Most of the time, credibility plays a role in getting your prospect to say ‘yes, count me in.’.

• If you are not comfortable describing the business’ marketing plan or you lack the necessary information, please do not attempt on explaining it. It is highly encourage though that you need to fully understand the marketing plan as you progress.

• Always make it a point to use the office. Ideally, your prospect has to see the office within 48 hours of the invitation.

• One-on-one is still the most effective way of discussing the business to a prospect. There are key things you need to remember to have an effective conversation. It takes more than just saying, “Are you interested in XYZ networking?”.
  • Establish RAPPORT
    • Seek first to understand before being understood
    • Get to know the person first
    • Be very professional and no B.S (censored)
    • Focus on your client and avoid all distractions (e.g. phone calls, SMS, and etc.)
  • Present the OPP (Opportunity Plan Presentation)
    • How is the networking company different from the others? For example in DLC, present the pie if a previous networker. If talking to a first-timer, present the marketing/incentive program thoroughly.

    

    • Establish connection through small pats in the back or sincere compliments while doing the OPP.
  • Have a good CLOSING
    • Ask key questions like:
      • How did you find it so far?
      • Are you interested in becoming part of the business?
      • You want tips on how to start?

I wasn’t quite ready to leave the last post alone. I had a question that continued to wash in waves over and over in my mind when I finished it. It’s one of those simple questions that has far-reaching implications. See what you think.

How should my life be different on a day to day basis because I know God exists in community?

See, when we spend time considering the depths of the Trinity, we accumulate knowledge. Knowledge is a beautiful thing. Something I think we can’t ignore, though, is the transformation of our lives after such a thing. I know I want to love God with all I’ve got. Matthew 22:37 offers a plumb line standard: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’”

Consider loving God with everything you’ve got. How exactly might you love your heavenly Father with all your heart, soul, and mind? How would you love your Lord Jesus in that way? Could you think of ways to show love to the person of the Holy Spirit in the same way?

Here are some ideas:

• Read, study, or memorize passages that speak to the persons of the Trinity
• Spend time in worship with songs which specifically offer truths about the persons of the Trinity
• Spend time in prayer talking specifically to each person of the Trinity
• Meditate on God existing in community–no hierarchy, no competition, happy submission, and complete intimacy
• Think about God in community–and his choice to invite us into that community

The ripple effect? Can you see it? It’s there.

We as followers of Christ would have to be different if we spent time in worship, prayer, and godly meditation. We will never fully grasp every aspect of our God, and the Trinity is definitely a mystery. But, as we interact personally with each person of the Trinity, we are changed. I’m convinced of it! We will know our God more and more as he intended us to know him. Our relationship with God will be richer and deeper for the time we spend in the Bible, in worship, in prayer, and in deep thought about the truths we find.

The ripple effect will happen as your relationship with God becomes real…deep…effective…transformational. When people around you come in contact with that in your life, they slip into the gentle ripples you’re making. You aren’t transforming them (let’s save that for the Lord to do in their lives), but you sure can be the steadfast believer that catches their eye. Or, perhaps you’ll have a droplet of truth to share in someone’s life as a result of this “thinkin’ time” you’ve taken.

Can I dare you to spend some time on this? How about a double-dog dare?  

Some of the splashes on this blog have a bit more heft to the droplet that makes them. This is one of those. Honestly, this might be one topic that qualifies for “so-deep-you-can’t-find-the-bottom” status. Trying to use words to navigate it seems almost silly, but you know I have to try. It’s who I am. 

Chapter 2 of Invitation to the Jesus Life begins with one of the most difficult theological concepts to grasp: the Trinity. This isn’t something you fully lay out and comprehend in 300 words or less, so buckle your seat belts, friends. Here we go….

It’s not a tremendous leap to say that God exists in community. Most of us are familiar with what I’d call the “Big Three” names of God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Scholars of the Hebrew names will have a larger arsenal from which to draw, but these three names are all over the scriptures. But, where do scholars have basis for the Trinity, the tri-unity, in scripture?

We have an understanding of God in three persons from several sources in scripture.

• The verbs used for God are plural (Genesis 1:26, 2:22, 11:7; Isaiah 6:8).

• There are passages identifying two persons as God (Psalm 110:1; Matthew 22:41-46; Hosea 1:7; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Ephesians 4:4-6; Jude 20, 21; John 1:1-2).

For some reason, I have little trouble with the concept of an infinite God having a vast character I cannot fathom. It’s very much like knowing certain aspects of various people I know. I can see that the people I know are very complex, so why not an infinitely more complex character attributed to my Almighty God? Are you like me in this?

The concept of a loving father is desperately desirable to us. God the Father, our Abba, is a piece many of us deeply crave in the puzzle of the Trinity. Whatever our experience with our earthly fathers, the Heavenly Father is a whole other thing, yet God used the term father to describe himself (Matthew 5:48; 6:14; Luke 11:9-13). Don’t miss Luke 11:13; I love that one!

Perhaps we relate deeply to the person of the Trinity known as the Son for other reasons. He is fully God and fully man, the one present with the Father at Creation, our “God with us” on this earth, the Son of Man and the Son of God, the one who paid for all our sins–Jesus! As Jan Johnson says, “Jesus didn’t speak of a ‘plan of salvation’ because he was the person of salvation (see John 14:6; 17:3)” (p. 30). When we look at Jesus, we see God’s gift of grace in response to our going our own way (Isaiah 53:6). Need more evidence of Jesus being divine in nature? See the following: Titus 2:13; 2 Peter 1:1; Romans 9:5.

The third person of the Trinity may be the most difficult to grasp. Can we agree to call him a person from the start? The Holy Spirit is often referred to in genderless and almost non-person terms. (I wonder if that hurts his feelings sometimes.) Since the Father and the Son are persons, it’s not a huge leap to say the Spirit is also a person. The confusion may come from the Greek language using a genderless term in places, but the masculine term is used, and the other descriptive terms specifically relate to people. So, since few of us are scholarly to the point of knowing the linguistic specifics, I’ll just say this error originates in not knowing the Spirit is, in fact, a person.    He is actively involved in the Christian’s life, and this alludes to a relationship we can have with him, but we’ll save that for another post. Here are some verses to read regarding the person of the Holy Spirit: John 14:16-17,26; 15:26; 16:7.

This little post cannot do the Trinity justice. I know that. You know that. But, we can begin to say that the persons of God exist in community. I love how Jan Johnson quotes Mark Shaw from Doing Theology with Huck and Jim: “These ‘three distinct Persons live together in full, unchallenged equality, glad submission to each other [and] joyful intimacy with each other’” (p. 31). Now that’s the kind of community I’d like to fully grasp…and participate in! There’s the unity in community!

A couple made it past The Secret Service, without an Invitation, to a Party at the White House. Imagine if the couple happened to be some Terrorists??? The Secret Service says that the President was never in any Danger because the Couple without an invitation had to go thru the same Security Checks as the Guests with Invitations. Oh, O.K., Everything is alright now??????????????? Are you Fucking Joking me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was the first time this has ever happened and it was a HUGE BREACH OF SECURITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!What would have happened if this couple were Terrorists instead of who they were? And what would have happened if the Terrorists had BUTT BOMBS in them????? Security would have never caught that in their screening, unless they’re Probing Everyone’s Anuses!!!!

This was a HUGE BREACH, and The Secret Service FUCKED UP BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Small piece from Spring, 2009, for B’NAI B’RITH REAL ESTATE’S YOUNG DEVELOPMENT GROUP. A charity event was held at the former headquarters for the New York Times, now a mixed-use re-development, and called for a contemporary interpretation of period materials from the Times’s founding.

Looks like Google sent out another bunch of invitations for Wave & since most of my friends are already on Wave, I thought why not give it away. I’ve used Wave to collaborate on a couple of projects in the last couple of weeks. Some features are not yet functional, but it does look pretty promising. And yes, it seems that Wave is more responsive on Google Chrome than Firefox.

Chronique de l’usage empirique d’un testeur bêta.
Même dans les années 80, j’avoue ne pas avoir accroché immédiatement à cette évolution musicale, alors, pensez au XXIème  siècle. Vous l’avez compris, je ne vais pas vous entretenir de mes goûts musicaux sur ce blog qui ne présentent guère d’intérêt, mais de la nouvelle plateforme de communication “révolutionnaire”, écrivent certains; Google Wave.

Dés lors que mon Gmail m’avais notifié mon invitation, je m’empresse de cliquer sur le lien pour découvrir la bête et… “Bon, je suis censé faire quoi ?” je me demande en découvrant l’interface. Fan de BD, de Bandes dessinées aussi mais surtout du blog de Benoit Descary, je tombe sur une foule de ses billets, grâce à une recherche google, qui m’expliquent un peu par quel bout commencer.

Ne comptez pas sur moi pour vous expliquer ce à quoi peut vous servir Google Wave si vous êtes particulier ou professionnel, je n’en sais encore rien moi même, bien que j’exploite Google Docs à des fins professionnels. Il ne s’agit, ici, juste que d’un billet d’humeur et, en aucun cas, didactique.

Ma première impression, au moment du projet et des premières rumeurs sur le web, était que google avait trouvé le saint graal pour associer en une seul interface tous les services qu’il propose en ligne. Je me suis dit Facebook n’a qu’à bien se tenir. Un service à la manière d’un réseau social à qui on ajouterait une foule d’applications du type face-de-bouc que j’avais, un temps, apprécié après avoir délaissé Orkut, service Google, dont je n’arrivais à déterminer l’intérêt, en tous cas, pour moi. Pour d’autres raisons, j’ai fini par supprimer mon compte Facebook, malgré mes quelques “amis” en me tournant vers twitter qui a le mérite d’être clair et direct.

C’est, en premier, le site français Zorgloob qui m’a aidé à me faire une opinion sur cette plateforme. Après avoir découvert les premiers usages que je pouvait en avoir, j’ai également appris qu’il existait déjà des clients desktop pour Mac et Windows/Linux (sous Adobe Air). Ce qui tend à démonter que les développeurs croient à l’expansion de cette plateforme signée Google.

Wave prétend revolutionner la communication en allant au delà du courriel, bien. Sachant que Gmail est le 3ème Webmail dans le Monde après Yahoo mail et Hotmail (grâce à Msn, j’imagine), on peut peut-être en comprendre l’enjeu d’autant que cela reste l’activité principale par internet.

Les navigateurs “compatibles” Google Wave sont, pour l’instant : Opéra, Safari 4, Firefox 3.5 et inévitablement, Chrome, parce que gérant le Htemele5. Il existe aussi de nombreuses extensions (dont certaines finiront par être payantes par le biais d’une AppStore) et des add-ons firefox. Francis Pisani de Transnet essaie de déterminer dans un article l’objectif de la société Google au travers de cette plateforme qui est “un carrefour entre le courriel, le réseau social, la messagerie instantanée, l’IRC et Twitter” (rien que ça)  selon Framasoft, qui s’interroge, quant à lui, pour savoir si elle est “une bonne nouvelle pour le logiciel libre ?”… Bon, sinon, de manière plus ironique, il y a aussi les points de vue du meilleur blog actuel et de Laurent Bourelly.

Bref, mon approche perplexe de Google wave m’a beaucoup fait utiliser le moteur de recherche Google. Je tâtonne, pour l’instant, en découvrant les différents usages potentiels, notamment par le biais des bots, des gadgets et surtout l’enrichissement de ma liste contacts pour pouvoir démarrer un projet collaboratif. Une proposition d’usage, par exemple, faite par le profgeek pour le monde de l’éducation.

Au moment où la société Google semble s’orienter vers le “cloud computing” avec ses OS (Androïd, gOs, Chrome Os…) et ses Google Apps (web,netbooks, téléphonie mobile) pour séduire les grands comptes. Alors que Mozilla planche sur la “messagerie universelle” Raindrop. Alors que quelques suggestions sur le blog “idées” de Goggle mettent en avant “quelques manques”

Comment voyez vous l’avenir de ce genre de plateforme collaborative et pensez vous l’utiliser activement au delà de la simple curiosité?

Edit : En ce qui me concerne, je doute que les enseignants avec qui je travaille s’impliquent dans ce genre d’outil (et que dire des élèves de primaire que j’encadre) qui demandent tout de même un temps d’adaptation. De plus, il est tout à fait possible d’activer des fonctionnalités labs dans Gmail, voire de l’enrichir des services Google, grâce à l’add-on Firefox; Integrated Gmail ou plus simplement par Google Shortcuts pour le même navigateur pour accéder à un condensé des services Google au même endroit. Donc, je pense voir à l’usage si cette plateforme qui, sans dénigrer son potentiel, m’amène à changer vraiment mes habitudes de travail et vous ferai part d’un véritable retour d’expérience.

Au delà de ces questions, il ne faut pas perdre de vue qu’il s’agit d’une “preview” qui n’est pas exempte de bugs, notamment liés au nombre de contributeurs d’une wave.
