*  Sony DCR-TRV38 video camera – This gorgeous old camcorder was adopted by me from my parents, after they abandoed it in a drawer. They now have a shiny new video camera, but this old gal is still my fave.

** Leica Old-Style digital camera – This is one of the beautiful cameras in the WORLD. It is fashioned to look like a old style camera, but takes a gorgeous digital photo. It was given to me by my dad (he got it from a family friend), who thought I would have a better use for it because I’m more of a photographer.

*** iRock – This funny old MP3 player was one of the orginal iPods, before Apple. It only holds 16 songs in total, but I still love it. When my dad got an iPod, he gave me this. I later on got an iPod, but this little rocker still has a place in my heart.

Apple IPhone 3G 16 GB.pdf

To be sure, the 3G iPhone announced during yesterday’s WWDC keynote is a big improvement over the original. But there are still a few detractors to keep certain people away. Here are five reasons explaining why you may want to avoid the 3G iPhone.

5. The Camera. Apple made no improvements to the camera at all, and not even to the camera’s software. Many of the world’s top converged devices have cameras that range between 3 and 5 megapixels. The iPhone’s 2-megapixel shooter is really a bare bones camera for such an advanced device. There’s also no flash and no vanity mirror. On top of that, the software controlling the iPhone’s camera includes no ability to make any adjustments to the shooting process or the camera’s settings. You can’t dial down the resolution, the quality, adjust white balance, or perform any other changes that even “free” phones can make. That’s just poor. Perhaps Apple is relying on third-party app developers to create better camera software. Personally, I’d rather have Apple-developed camera software, and Apple didn’t deliver.

4. The Price. Yes, the price. I know the device costs $200 less than it did yesterday morning, but that’s not taking into consideration the additional $240 you’ll be paying for that data contract over two years. The total cost to own the device for two years just went up by $40. If price was the only thing keeping you away from the original iPhone, just know that it ain’t cheaper at all. Of course, you can’t forget the new rules. 3G iPhones need to be purchased and activated in AT&T (NYSE: T) or Apple stores. No unlocking, two year-contracts mandatory.

3. Still no keyboard. The iPhone’s software keyboard has documented issues. It’s simply harder to use than Apple says it is. I’ve owned an iPhone for a year and still have trouble with it. So do many others.

2. Lack of other upgrades. Still no stereo Bluetooth, still no MMS, still no video recording, still no character counter in the SMS app, still no IM capability, still no cut-and-paste, etc. Many of these features may be offered via third-party apps in the future, but that is not known for certain.

1. The 3G radio. Yes, I am going to complain about the 3G radio. Apple stuck a UMTS/HSDPA 3G radio in the iPhone. Kudos to Apple for at least making it a tri-band radio, meaning you’ll be able to roam between North America, South America, Australia, Europe and many other regions of the world and still have access to 3G. But Apple could have done better. How? What about including a radio that can handle AT&T’s HSPA network, meaning faster uploads for all those pictures and emails? What about supporting faster versions of HSDPA. Right now, the iPhone’s 3G radio supports the middle HSDPA speed, which is about 3.6Mbps for downloads in optimal conditions. Other 3G phones available on the market support 7.2Mbps downloads. The 3G iPhone may in fact have a 3G radio in it, but it is not quite as zippy as others. Apple could have put the best chip in there. And it should go without saying, but I am going to say it anyway: If you don’t live in an area blanketed by AT&T’s 3G network, upgrading to 3G won’t do you any good.

Update: Some of the source information I had for the original article was incorrect. It turns out, the iPhone’s 3G radio supports up to 3.6Mbps downloads, which is better than the 1.8Mbps I originally reported. The text above has been changed to reflect that correction. It still, however, does not support HSPA upload speeds.

Apple launched iphone in 2007, and it changed the total outlook how the cellphone can be so different . Before iphone, Apple revolutionized the Music Market with ipod, still the best way you can take your music on the go. But real convergence comes in with the launch of iphone , bringing together music and cellphone which are indespensible for today`s generation.

Apple has also brought the most sought after Touch interface in cellphones , which has revolutionized the O.S. of Cellphones. Most of the biggest names are introducing Touch sensitive Devices to their portfolio to keep up the competition fuelled by Apple. Even the biggest name in Business Cellphones-Blackberry is coming up with Touch Interface.

Iphone was lagging behind a bit because of absence of 3G , which now has been addressed by Apple with the launch of 3G iphone and that too at half the price.

Now about the product, it is coming with 3g wireless technology, supporting enterprise features like Microsoft Exchange, GPS mapping, internet device with rich HTML email and desk top class webbrowser.

Just one complaint, think of a replacable battery. STILL THIS IS THE BEST GADGET ONE CAN HAVE.

I’m watching live on www.macrumorslive.com and crying.  Here are the big announcements from Steve Jobs at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2008.

Apple has learned so much with the first iPhone. They have taken everything they’ve learned and more and created the iPhone 3G. Even thinner, black plastic back, solid metal buttons, same gorgeous display, camera, flush headphone jack, and dramatically improved audio.

How does the iPhone 3G tackle the challenges? 3G = faster data downloads, perfect for Safari and Mail. Comparing download speeds between 3G and EDGE. 3G finished in 21 seconds. EDGE finished in 59 seconds.

2.8X faster. Approaching WiFi speeds (WiFi scored 17 seconds). When compared to other 3G phones (Nokia N95 and Treo 750), the iPhone is 36% faster — and better looking.

GPS support now integrated into the iPhone.

With GPS, the iPhone can do tracking. A pulsating dot is moving across the Google map as a car drives down Lombard street.

Now on to the final blow — affordability. Started at $599 for an 8GB iPhone, now $399. The iPhone 3G 8GB will sell for… $199.  The iPhone 3G 16GB will sell for $299.

The iPhone 3G will be available July 11th in 22 countries. The maximum price around the world is $199 USD.

My birthday is July 13th, and yes I know I have the original iPhone already, but it would still be really nice of you to get me a new iPhone 3g for my birthday!!  I would love you forever.

Apple announced the new monstrous 16GB version of the famous iPhone. Currently the new Apple iPhone 16GB is available through the Apple store and AT&T stores in USA. The European carriers offering the iPhone expected to start offering it as of tomorrow .
As far as European carriers are concerned, O2 UK will be selling the new 16GB model for GBP 330, which is around EUR 440 or USD 650. The other interesting announcement today is that the iPod Touch, the iPhone’s cousin, also has received a doubled storage space. The new iPod Touch 32GB will be selling at a USD 500 price tag (before taxes). The 16GB version which has been available for quite some time retains the USD 400 price, along with the 8GB model, which is still priced at USD 300.

Ήταν απλά θέμα χρόνου η Apple να αποφασίσει να διαθέσει το iPhone με νέα μεγαλύτερη χωρητικότητα μνήμης. Το iPhone διατίθεται πλέον στις ΗΠΑ αλλά και στην υπόλοιπη διεθνή αγορά με μνήμη 16GB.

Με αυτό το μέγεθος μνήμης μπορούμε πλέον να αποθηκεύσουμε μέσα στο iPhone εκατοντάδες φωτογραφίες, mp3 αλλά και ταινίες της αρεσκείας μας χωρίς να μας προβληματίζει το μέγεθος τους.

Πέρα από την αύξηση στο μέγεθος της μνήμης θα ήθελα κάποια στιγμή η Apple να ενσωματώσει στο iPhone και ένα δέκτη GPS που έτσι κι αλλιώς ταιριάζει απόλυτα στην ηλεκτρονική ψυχή του iPhone!
