Hallo Zusammen,

sehr simpel und doch wirklich nützlich ist für mich das App Kalenderwoche. ich muss wöchentlich auf diversen Dokumenten die Kalenderwoche eintragen. Jedesmal überlege ich welche Woche doch die vorherige war. Die App schafft abhilfe. Für mich persönlich sehr nützlich, wenn auch einfach, und daher auf Platz acht!

One of the least talked about feature deficiencies of Apple iPhone SDK Font Handling is the inability to underline text.

You know – like you see in every web link on every web page on the internet.

Yeah.  That.

For me, where I need this the most is when I’m trying to create a link on one of my text sections or display elements, that will invoke a web URI and go off to do some work.

There isn’t a way to style underline fonts included with the iPhone, and Apple doesn’t make it easy at all to include custom fonts without a great deal of pain and gnashing of teeth.

What is one to do?

Well, I don’t know what the rest of you guys do, but this is what I did.

I created a button class (UnderlineButton) that subclasses UIButton and implemented my own drawRect function to draw the underline myself.

This isn’t rocket science, but works quite nicely.  The button should probably have a number of init functions to do things like set underline stroke width and color, but I needed a quick and dirty solution and had about 30 minutes to write, test, and deliver.

The code below is what I wound up with (UnderlineButton.m follows; UnderlineButton.h is simply a stub class that contains only @interface UnderlineButton : UIButton {}).

The doButtonTouch method will perform whatever it is you want to do; in my case this invoking another method to slide in a UIWebView to show drill down content.

Summary: Underline Text. Nothing there to make it natively easy, but workable solutions can be cobbled together.

But I will be the very first to say “it shouldn’t be this hard.“

ReTweetするフォーマットも指定できるし便利です、Bylineからお試しあれ。

Gara-gara baru punya iphone baru, saya jadi repot. Tentu bukan sekedar mengelak ketika ditanya harganya – karena toh saya dapat iphone itu gratis. Lebih dari itu, saya kesulitan memakainya!!

Iphone, tentu saja, dikeluarkan oleh Apple, dan oleh karena itu maka, dia berbasiskan MacOS – sesuatu yang seumur hidup belum pernah saya sentuh, membayangkannya saja tidak. Pertama, saya perlu mengenal beberapa istilah yang umum di komunitas pengguna iphone.

Home button

Sumpah saya mencari-cari tulisan “home” di layar iphone. Di windows atau halaman web, biasanya ada di ujung kiri atas. Ini ngga ada! Saya terpaksa ketawa sendiri waktu menyadari bahwa yang dimaksud ‘home button’ itu benar-benar tombol, bulat, yang letaknya di bawah layar iphone. Dasar ndeso!

Tap

Iphone memiliki layar sentuh. Tidak ada stylus, saya benar-benar memakai jari di atas layar iphone. Untuk memilih sesuatu – icon misalnya – saya sentuh icon tersebut. Proses sentuh ini disebut ‘tap’. Analogi di windows, kira-kira untuk ‘klik’.

Bagaimana dengan senjata ‘klik kanan’ yang saya andalkan di Windows? Di sini, dalam browser Safari, dengan menyentuh suatu image, tahan beberapa saat, akan muncul menu baru yang menyediakan pilihan untuk menyimpan image tersebut ke iphone. Jadi, saya bisa menyimpan image dari safari browser ke iphone.

Pinch

Ini variasi dari tap. Banyak berguna untuk melakukan zoom in – zoom out dari images. Caranya, taruh satu jari di posisi yang akan di-zoom. Lalu letakkan satu jari di sebelahnya, geser jari kedua itu sampai image membesar/mengecil. Tada!

Magnifier

Ini yang bikin kesal. Keyboard di iphone ngga ada tombol arrow-nya. Jadi, gimana kalo udah keburu ngetik banyak lantas ada yang salah? Agak lama saya baru menyadari bahwa kalau saya sentuh layar di area text beberapa detik, akan timbul kaca pembesar. Saya bisa geser jari untuk menaruh kaca pembesar itu di tempat yang diperlukan, lalu edit deh.

Setelah beberapa kali menggunakan fitur ini, saya merasa lebih mudah menyentuh agak di atas huruf-huruf text untuk menampilkan magnifier ini. Kalau terlalu ke bawah, dia akan memindahkan cursor.

Springboard

Ini adalah layar di iphone, semacam window kalau di windows (halah). Di sinilah icon-icon aplikasi berada. Kalau di-tap akan meluncurkan aplikasi yang diinginkan. Saya masih agak rancu dengan istilah Dock, rasanya yang dimaksud Dock adalah yang di baris sebelah bawah, icon yang diletakkan di situ akan tampil di setiap halaman springboard.

Oya, saya bisa punya sembilan halaman springboard. Untuk berpindah antar-springboard, cukup geser dengan jari. Untuk memindah icon ke springboard yang lain, tahan icon itu beberapa saat, lalu geser ke halaman springboard yang dimaksudkan. Di iphone saya, icon-icon akan bergetar lucu saat proses ini. Setelah selesai menyusun icon, tekan home button.

Firmware

Seperti diketahui, iPhone ini termasuk salah satu telepon yang punya operating system di dalamnya. Dikeluarin oleh Apple, tentu saja OS mereka sendiri yang dipakai. Apple menyebut OS di dalam iPhone ini sebagai firmware, yang terbaru dipasang di iPhone saya adalah versi 3.1.2. Selain tersedia resmi di website Apple, bisa juga diunduh dari berbagai sumber lain.

2G dan 3G / 3Gs

Bukan, bacanya bukan duaji vs triji…. iPhone punya versi yang resminya dinamakan iPhone saja, generasi pertama, belum mendukung 3G. Oleh komunitas pengguna iPhone, ini dinamakan 2G – mungkin awalnya joke karena sebelum lahir 3G kan mustinya ada 2G dulu.

Sampai saat ini saya tidak tahu bedanya 2G dan 3G secara fisik, karena toh jika 2G diganti back casing nya menjadi hitam akan sama dengan seri 3G yang hitam.

Unlock

Nah, ini mulai deh. Iphone seringkali hadir dalam paket bundle. Maksudnya, di dalam operating system itu sudah dikunci untuk hanya menggunakan kartu GSM keluaran operator seluler tertentu. Komunitas pecinta iPhone tentu malas harus mengganti provider hanya gara-gara ganti handset menjadi iPhone. Maka mereka membikin cara untuk mengakali blokir tersebut, judulnya unlock.

Dalam bayangan saya, unlock ini hanya bermain di sisi software, jadi tidak menggugurkan garansi. Tapi, tentu saja, bermain dengan urusan beginian ngga ada jaminannya. Resiko ditanggung penumpang, termasuk jika ternyata garansi gugur.

Jailbreak

Wah lha yang satu ini ni yang paling menarik buat saya. Apple punya aplikasi namanya iTunes. Hanya dari aplikasi itulah Apple Store bisa dibuka, dan hanya dari situ pula segala lagu – video dan aplikasi bisa dimasukin ke iPhone.
Jailbreak ini membuka blokir dari Apple, jadi bisa masukin segala data lewat cara apa saja. Kalok iPhone udah di-jailbreak, hampir segala aplikasi bisa dimasukin. Hampir semua file system bisa diutak atik.

Masalahnya, untuk melakukan jailbreak perlu firmware yang utuh. Filenya lumayan gambot, lebih dari 200MB. Bisa berhari-hari saya download dari hasil nyolong bandwith kantor neh…

Çinliler çok geçmeden Apple’ın satış rekorlarını kıran iPhone’nun yanında Macbook Air’ı da taklit ederek piyasaya sürdüler. Sistem Windows XP kurulu gelmesiyle beraber Hackintosh ile Mac OSX yüklemek kolay olacağa benziyor, ucuz yollu Mac Book Air sahibi olmak isteyenlere bir fırsat diyebiliriz.Özelliklerine gelecek olursak Intel Atom N280 CPU, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 160GB Sabit Disk, 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi, 2 adet USB girişi, Ethernet girişi, HDMI. Mac Aficionados, si vous n’êtes pas familiers avec le terme de «Black Friday», sachez que celui-ci désigne généralement une vague de marée humaine orientée vers un objectif unique: bénéficier d’une journée (spéciale de rabais) sur quelques produits Mac offerts en magasins et sur la boutique en ligne.

Le Black Friday succède généralement à la fête américaine de Thanksgiving aux États-Unis. La compagnie à la pomme californienne en profite alors pour faire bénéficier à ses clients de rabais sur une gamme de produits. Mais seule l’Apple Store peut confirmer ces dires.

Une habitude veux que des «petits malins d’Internet» s’amusent à poster des «flyers» (affiches promotionnelles) révélant à l’avance les produits qui seront mis en rabais et les pourcentages de ces rabais. Bien entendu, la firme de Cupertino, dont l’une des pierres angulaires est le «secret professionnel», accepte difficilement d’être associée à de telles rumeurs.

Cette année pourtant, c’est Boy Genius Report qui s’y colle (à ne pas confondre avec OGenius!), en ayant annoncé des rabais de 15% à 30% (!!), ce qui serait du jamais vu dans l’historique des Black Friday de la firme de Cupertino, si cela s’annonce vrai.

Le Black Friday est cependant l’occasion pour bon nombre d’industries gravitant autour de la compagnie Apple, d’y aller avec leurs lots de bonnes affaires.

Gewagt, aber durchaus interessant: Webshops jenseits von Apple bieten all jene iPhone-Apps an, die von den Apple-Moralwächtern abgelehnt wurden. Sex, Drugs & Rock´n´Roll, Baby!

Man fragt sich natürlich insgeheim sofort: Wie lange dauert es, bis Apple solche Portale abschießt? Gibt es überhaupt eine rechtliche Handhabe? Anyway, die Macher dürften schon bald genug Geld für ihre Anwälte haben, denn der wirtschaftliche Erfolg kommt ja quasi von selbst: Alle gewagten, spannenden, skurrilen, humorvollen, sexy und ekligen Apps, die Cupertino bestimmt tausendfach abgelehnt hat, sammeln sich recht zügig dort und locken das abenteuerlustig-neugierige iFön-Publikum an. Auch andere App-Anbieter, für die es im offiziellen Shop umsatztechnisch nicht gut läuft, könnten auf die Idee kommen, umzusatteln.
Offenbar am erfolgreichsten entwickelt sich Rock your Phone, die gerade einen Jahresumsatz von 2 Millionen melden. Pro Tag kämen 10 bis 20 Entwickler mit ihren Apps dazu.
Im Sog des Apple-Erfolges tummeln sich weitere Alternativshops wie MyWi oder My3G im Internet. Doch niemand weiß, wie viele Softwaretitel Apple mittlerweile abgelehnt hat, aber es dürften ganz schön viele sein – und deren Macher sind höchstwahrscheinlich verärgert oder zumindest genervt. Nachzulesen ist das nun auf der frischen Auskotz-Site “App Store Rejections” , wo die jüngsten Dramen der Ablehnung genüsslich dargelegt werden. Over the past 18 months we have seen an explosion in SmartPhone Mobile Commerce Apps. Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Starbucks and 1800flowers, to name but a few, have all published iPhone apps in the past 12 months (Mobile Retail Apps Skyrocket on iPhone) .  While eBay, the company that revolutionised the online newspaper classified advertising business, announced in TechCrunch this week that Our Mobile Users Will Spend More Than $500 Million On Goods This Year.

In support of all this development activity CIO magazine has published the Five qualities of a great retail iPhone app. While Retail Touch Points suggests “The best approach for retailers is to have a full features application where you can browse every section of the Web site, every department and product, and physically buy them from the phone.”

So what makes mCommerce different from eCommerce? Is it a game changer or just another retail sales channel?

It always hard to see the real opportunity when you’re on the inside looking out and, just as it was with the eBusiness revolution, it is the start-ups who are changing the retail landscape with new and innovative ways of using the mobile phone to enhance the customer’s experience.

It was the New York Times’ Bob Tedeschi who pointed out this time last year that the “online shopping services are quickly building applications that bring a new dimension to your next trip to the mall … giving you the chance to use the (online) applications when you actually need them“

Both Red Laser and Shopsavvy are free apps that turns your mobile smartphone into bar code scanner. But that isn’t all they do. Take a look for yourself  how mobile apps like Shopsavvy will change the face of retail shopping forever.

What happens to the retail experience when the High St shops, Strip Malls, Big-Box Warehouses and the neighborhood Mom and Pop stores all have to compete with the in-the-moment capabilities of the New Plastic Fantastic?

Simply walk in the store, see something you like, scan it, run the product search, and you’ll be bartering with the shop assistant to match the lowest price you have found on your mobile phone.

As Joshua-Michele Ross says in his Forbes review of the  RedLaser App (When Your iPhone Knows Everything).  ”Here is the trend line: We are becoming accustomed to using our phones in-the-moment to answer all manner of questions… This small behavioral change has enormous consequences as more and more of our physical world finds its “data-doppleganger” online“

The Killer Mobile Retail App however is just that… An App with the potential to Kill Retail as we know it.

Will apps like the ShopSavvy and RedLaser ultimately change the way we shop? Are we going to see a MobCon revolution in shopping habits or will the New Plastic Fantastic prove to be a passing fad?

At the risk of sounding obscure I think the simple answer is this.

There are to types of time in the marketplace.

• Kronos (Greek: Linear time), and
• Karios (Greek: Opportunity or synchronicity). 

Kronos is the road you travel in search of a bargain (ie the Beginning, Middle and End of the retail journey). Karios on the other hand is the moment when impulse takes over and the urge to buy is satisfied by the act of buying.

Kronos involves control and thinking. Karios is about impulse and action.

All successful advertising and marketing people know intuitively that they are in the business of preparing the customer for that Karios moment.

As we all know from experience, price is just one aspect of the impulse to buy. Availability is another. Will the real-time knowledge that you can save $5.00 in the next suburb or $10.00 online really change your shopping habits? Or, will the urge, the impulse to buy now and pay later continue to, by and large, remove logic from the shopping equation?

I think the frugal shopper will find real value in smart apps like Shopsavvy. The impulse buyer I believe, will continue to shop on impulse.

My guess is the mobile bar code scanner revolution will be more about reducing the exit time of the buy:sell cycle. If shoppers can use their mobile phone to scan the bar code, pay for the item and then exit the shop by sending a message to the shop’s security system then I think they will embrace this technology in preference to waiting in line to be served at the cash register.

This self-service option will improve the overall customer experience and reduce the retailer’s service costs. It’s what you call a win:win scenario.

Sure price checking is part of the Kronos shopping cycle. But the purchase decision is a Karios moment and what could be better than a one click, on the spot purchasing retail high?
