O Touch Fans postou que Emilio Palaes e Christian Baroni estão desenvolvendo um emulador de iPod Classic para o iPod Touch/iPhone. O Emilio estaria responsável pela codificação e o Christian pelos gráficos.

Os desenvolvedores esperam que o app seja aceito pela AppStore, mas eu acho isso difícil…
Se o programa não for aprovado ele estará disponível no Cydia por 2 dólares.

I can’t believe in this day and age, I could actually forget to bring my mobile phone out with me. There are several electronic devices I can never leave home without, namely my iPod Classic, my HTC Touch Diamond 2 and my Sony T300 camera. Apparently, I forgot my phone on the fateful Friday the 13th.

The strangest part was I didn’t realise it till I was in the train en route to campus. I begun searching through my bag franctically hoping that my precious is not lost, only to realise that yes, I left it on the dining table. Great.

My reflex thought was: “I got to so tweet thing NOW”. It was a -smack forehead- moment because my phone’s not with me to tweet and it’s not logical to whip out my laptop for an eight minute train ride to Jurong East. It sure did feel like the beginning of a bad day.

I was supposed to be in school early for the class phototaking session and I didn’t know where’s the venue. How awesome right? I closed my eyes and mumbled a prayer before the train reached Dover station. I was right on time and luckily, Stella was waiting at the station! You have no idea how relieved I was there and then.

The rest of the day was quite a breeze because my brain didn’t fail me when I wanted to recall some phone numbers. With the help of Twitter, Facebook and MSN Messenger, contacting people via social media proved to be pretty much possible.

That got me thinking, do we still spend a lot of time using our mobile phones to make phone calls or are we using it to access social media websites? Yes, one can always argue that a mobile phone’s main purpose is for making calls especially during emergencies. Other than that, most of your friends are connected to you one way or another via social media.

Even so, we use mobile phones to go online because, well, it’s mobile. It takes away the hassle of switching on your laptop just to check an update.

It so happened that it was an emergency-free day and I survived!

E o nosso bom e velho iPod Touch, que sofreu um upgrade interno, sua velocidade está semelhante à do iPhone 3GS. Também ganhou uma nova capacidade (64GB) e a versão de 16GB foi desontinuada. Infelizmente o novo iPod não veio com câmera, como diziam várias especulações.

A novidade é:
Os novos iPods Touch (32GB e 64GB) estão disponíveis na Apple Store Br agora! O de 32GB está custando R$999,00 e o de 64GB R$1.249,00. O de 8GB que já estava vendendo continua com o seu preço, R$679,00.
Mesmo com um preço ainda salgado, você pode dividir em 12x sem juros…

Para quem já tem um Touch 2G não vale muito a pena a compra, por causa do pequeno upgrade. Mas se você tem um iPod Touch 1ª Geração ou não tem iPod Touch eu recomendo a compra!

Microsoft become more and more like Skynet every day.  With one key difference.

The popular are always easy to pick on.  They have the money, they have the fame-they have everything.  Sometimes it’s actually fun to go after those in the spotlight and give them the vocal version of stoning.  However serious or light-hearted these attacks may be, there is always that possibility some of us might be overreacting even in the slightest bit.  We might not want to admit to this likelihood more times than not (how many of us are actually selfless?) but in the end, most of these so-called “criticisms” are without much point or purpose and lack necessity.

Sadly, there are points when what might seem like insults are actually well deserved and, dare I say, not adequate enough.

We all know Microsoft.  The company who essentially gave us computers and, more recently, Windows Vista, Xbox 360 and the Zune media player line.  But there is something that these three releases had (and still do have) in common: nil reliability.  From inconsistent running to Red Rings of Death to constant firmware issues aplenty, all of these Microsoft releases have left sour tastes in our mouths.  Take it from somebody who’s dealt with a since crashed Vista-equipped slimline PC and laptop along with five Xbox 360’s and five Zunes in less than four years.  Do the math and I think you begin to see what I’m trying to emphasize.

Three years to almost resolve an issue that’s plagued well over 60% of Xbox 360 owners doesn’t exactly translate to good credibility.

The issue at-hand has shifted from products that are only prone to problems upon release to why these setbacks have yet to be (completely) resolved and, in some cases, continue to pop up.  The Xbox 360’s and Vista have all been criticized for their problems (and rightfully so), but it seems the Zune line has gotten significantly less attention.  Whether this is due to a lack of care or fanbase for the devices or Microsoft’s seeming intent to release newer models to try and avoid responsibilities for older versions is still up in the air.  Allow me to take you on a little trip of my experiences with the Zune; starting back when I was still in high school.

At the time, I had only owned two portable music devices (a CD player and iPod Shuffle 1G), but their simplicity essentially meant there were no worries in the form of defects.  Although I had gotten my hands on full models of the iPod time and time again, it never felt right in my hands.  The circular click wheel was never to my liking, the menu interface was boring and the opposite of fun to navigate around and they just never struck me as a particularly reliable product.  But then I heard of a new player coming out, called the Zune, being made and sold by Microsoft.  Although I had a bad run-in with my first Xbox 360 getting the Red Ring of Death after six months I ultimately shrugged it aside and figured the Zune would be a nice alternative (it had a style and interface that I immediately loved).  When I did finally get my own Zune (the Halo 3 version I might add) it was pure bliss.  Music on the go couldn’t be any better.

However, after a year of use and finding out about more bands, my demands for something a bit…more began coming out.  And conveniently enough, Microsoft were announcing the Zune 80, an 80 gigabyte upgrade to the first generation of Zunes.  Ecstatic, I decided that I would purchase one ASAP and essentially ditched my old Zune 30.  The new look was definitely nice and although it was different using a touch pad, adapting to it became easy.

It certainly looks like a more than worthy competitor, but we all know how much looks alone matter in the long run.

Fast forward another year and we begin to truly see some cracks in the design.  I’ll start with the software which was definitely an inconvenience to install at first but all told it functioned well enough and the issues I had were at a minimum.  However, once more prominent updates came in the situation only declined.  The software would take a while before finally starting up, brief freezing was a commonality and the sync times only worsened as time went on (especially for movies).  But this was nothing compared to what I’d face with my device and, subsequently, the its three heirs.

After another month of writing, I have enough for yet another big purchase. I’m typing on my HP Mini right now, and yes, I absolutely adore Eurydice, but now I have someone/something else on my mind. There’s something I’ve been wanting for a few months now, and right now it seems unbearable to me that I don’t have him (it) yet.

Pandora just isn’t cutting it anymore. This little square 4 GB iPod that I received for my fourteenth birthday was the light of my life for so long. But, in the past month, Pandora has seen more of the ground than she had throughout her entire two year existence. I was the first one in school to have the first video nano, but now it’s outdated and doesn’t have enough storage. She’s right next to me in her little pink leather jacket and is connected to my record player’s iPod jack so I can hear some Tilly and the Wall at a higher volume. But, at the moment I’m really craving some of The Submarines, whose music I did not have room to fit on Pandora.

For about a month I contemplated what iPod I would get after I got my laptop. My first choice was always the iPod Classic. I realized that the iPod Touch is basically for people who just want the apps and aren’t all about the music, which is the sole purpose why I want/NEED a new iPod. I considered the new iPod nano (Chromatic), but then realized that having a video camera on an iPod with so little storage would be tempting and stupid at the same time. Once again, I would be too busy monkeying around with that rather than listening to tunage. I do plan on purchasing an iPod shuffle in the future, just to have to run with or whatever, but it’s not going to be my main man.

And so, the choice was unanimous. Next week when I get my check, I’m off to the Apple store to pick up Orpheus and let him join my electronic family (Pandora, Narcissus and Eurydice; I have yet to name some other things). I will most likely end up buying the silver iPod classic, just so it’s not identical to my brother’s black one. He and Pandora will have to share my iHome, but I think I’ll put Pandora into retirement for a little while. She’s done a good job for two years and deserves a break. I’m just excited to finally be able to go from every Brand New CD to Paramore’s released and unreleased music to Vampire Weekend to John Mayer to Lady GaGa all on the same iPod. The thought of having my entire music library in my pocket is exhilarating. I can’t wait to put song after song on an iPod without having to take something off, first.

The reason for that is the shuffle feature!  Weird I know.  Just turn it off and it will work fine.

Oh? You do want your podcasts to shuffle?  Then you must

1. Select the Podcasts in your iTunes library and go to Get Info/Options tab.
2. Turn off the Skip When Shuffling option, it must say No.

Hello again! We are getting very close the “the big day”. The big day is tomorrow, by the way. We are almost done prepping and we’re putting the finishing touches on the new building today. Conference room is set up, the cubicles are installed and leveled and the tech benches have light, compressed air and flat panel monitors hanging on the walls. I’m VERY excited to get into our new space, it’s going to be spectacular!

Once again, we’ll be closing down a couple of hours early tomorrow at 3:00pm. . .this is when the T1 lines are cut over to the new building. . .and when we all move over to the new building. We’ll be back in business 100% Monday morning!!

In meiner 6wöchigen Sommerpause habe ich mich wieder in meinen Stammwollshops in Berlin und Brandenburg umgeschaut. In Potsdam habe ich 5 ganz tolle Knäule aus Baumwolle/Viskose gefunden. Die haben nicht lange in der Kiste gelegen, denn das eine habe ich gerade verarbeitet für mein neustes iPod Etui. Da ich , wenn ich verreise immer meinen großen iPod mitnehme, dachte mir, ich fertige nicht eine einfache Hülle wie sonst, sondern häkle eine Art Tasche. Ich habe so eine Art Doppelhäkeltechnik benutzt. Dadurch fühlt sich das Etui an wie wattiert. Vorn gibt es ein kleines Extra täschchen für Kopfhörer, Bahncar, oder Merkzettel. Ich finde diese Farbkombination so schön, und das Garn ist leider auch nicht mehr erhältlich. Da ich auch diese “wattierte” Häkeltechnik hatte, ist nur noch ein kleiner Faden übrig.  So musste ich wirklich mit mir ringen, ob ich die Tasche zum Verkauf anbiete oder nicht. Da ich mir aber letzte Woche gerade für mich eine neue Hülle gegönnt habe, stellte ich diese Tasche doch in meinem Vondir  Shop ein.
