“Ein Jahr wie 1978 wird es nicht mehr geben” meint der Kulle und der Präses hat recht. Damals gab es noch Vinyl und es gab noch die Doppel-Live-LPs. Wir hatten nämlich gestern lustiges Whisky Trinken und irgendwann landeten wir bei einer DVD bei mir, die ich als VHS vom Rob hatte und die mir der Ülf auf DVD überspielt hat: Die legendäre “Rockpop in Concert” mit PRIEST, MAIDEN, SCORPIONS, MSG… Ich muss dazu sagen, es war so gegen 3 pm als der Präses da von sich gab. “Rockpop in Concert” ist ein Kultklassiker unter den Metallern und wurde nie wiederholt. Aufgezeichnet wurde das Ganze im Dezember 1983 und ausgestrahlt im April 1984.

Wilde Diskussionen. Aus dieser Zeit stammt nämlich die Scorpions “Tokyo Tapes” (1978 – doppelt Live) und wenn man nach Kulle’s Zeitrechnung geht hört UFO mit den Veröffentlichungen, hört mit der 1979 “Strangers In The Night” deren Geschicht auf. So ein Kulle steht auf alle Songs ab 16 Minuten. Außerdem hat der Kulle dann bei MSG gesagt: Hätte der Mitch Schenker und der Phil Mogg weniger sich gestritten, wären die heute noch auf dem Olymp der Rock Musik. Ja. Aber dafür war der Mitch einfach zu kaputt.

Meine Katze Georgia, von Peterchen auch Corinna, Roswitha oder Anita genannt, hält sich gerade die Augen zu.  Ich glaube, sie denkt, wenn interessiert das? Mich und alle ab 40!

Kulle meinte dann auch noch, keiner sei so “In Schönheit gestorben” beim Solo wie Mitch Schenker. Und Kulle will endlich mal “Boogie for George” live hören. Wir haben – als die Wacken-Fahrer – dieses Jahr UFO in Wacken um 11 Uhr vormittags gesehen. Mark sagte: “Als UFO von der Bühne gingen, sagte Phil Mogg zum Publikum “Enjoy your breakfast!” Hahaha. Noch was für uns Checker-Kids: Nigel Mogg von den Quiereboys ist der Neffe von Phil Mogg.

Ouzo wartete während dessen auf die 18jährige. Haha. 18 Jahre alter Glenlivit. Weicher Körper – geiler Abgang.

Eigentlich hatte ich gedacht, der Präses kütt nit. FC verloren, Gladbach gewonnen. Vom Mitch haben wir nix gehört. Ich habe keine Punkte gemacht.

Ich bin müde und muss mich noch was ablegen. Mittagsschlaf. Besser als Mittagsschaf. Hahaa. Ich lasse gerade den Fernseher laufen bei Sportschau und da gibt das Schnee. Wo soll das den sein? Wir haben heute doch einen Herbstfrühjahrtag.

Según una pagina web; Janick Gers ha desvelado q el grupo esta empezando a escribir nuevo material para lo q será su 15º album en su dilatada,extensa y exitosa carrera musical.Segun Nicko McBrain el estudio ya esta reservado y para noviembre se espera q esten los cimientos de la continuacion de A Matter Life & Death y de su exitosa gira Somewhere Back In Time que recorrio todas las partes del mundo. IRON MAIDEN are to return to the studio and the road in 2010. According to drummer Nicko McBrain, in an interview with Rock Radio in the UK,  “We have actually booked a studio and I think we’ll kick off in the second week of January with the new record.”

“As to touring – the end of the year, or definitely 2011. We may actually go out at the end of 2010. Once you’ve got the new album finished and packaged, and the record company’s happy with all the bits and pieces, then you want to go touring.”

Another Epic tour will be on the books and we will post the tour dates as soon as they become available!

I searched online for Myanmar metal stuff last night and found a forum. With great expectations, I clicked on the link.

What I found?

They were talking about… nu-metal??? Yes, nu-metal. Frigging hell mallcore stuff like Slipknot and Marilyn Manson. There were even people who mentioned Linkin Park and Flyleaf.

Seriously! There was nothing on it but mallcore. -.-

Next one was a blog. He was talking about Slipknot and how much he likes them and on another blog was an article on Myanmar metal scene and the author was talking about Bullet For My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold and Trivium. Frigging Metalcore.

Why can’t they just get out of this whole mallcore thing??? Why won’t they step deeper into the depths? WHY?????

There were even some people who said,”Slipknot is Death Metal”. Ya, go die. It pisses me off when I hear people saying crap like that.

Mallcore, Nu-metal, Metalcore, BFMV, A7X, Marilyn Manson, BMTH, blah blah blah and it goes on and on and on in a never finishing mallcore whirlpool. This is what’s happening  in Myanmar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Metal albums aren’t that rare anymore. You can pretty much buy them here. (Last week I got Black Sabbath:The Dio Years and Megadeth’s Endgame.) Or you can download them via Mediafire or 4shared (which I usually do).

Still people are still drowning in the mallcore whirlpool… labeling themselves “metalheads” with Slipknot songs in their mp3 players.

Good morning!

Well, despite yesterday’s digital chaos (you’re a stinker for randomly deleting my post before I could save it, WordPress!) and general chaos, I thought I’d let you know that I did factor in an amazing, stress-alleviating 4 mile run on the treadmill last night. It’s also worth mentioning that this run was enitrely fueled by “Iron Maiden’s” Brave new World. Little fun fact about me: I LOVE heavy metal. I know, I don’t look like the part and I probably don’t seem the part (can’t think of too many metal-loving nannies out there), but there is nothing quite like extensive drum solos and electric guitar riffs to get my feet going.

Alright, off to a 10.5 hour work day, followed by a much needed lazy movie night with the best friend tonight.

"Metal. The darkest, most brutal genre of all."

Ahh, metal. Where would we be without you? To be honest, metal has been a far more influential genre than a lot of people give it credit for, which is very surprising, considering how silly a genre it can be. At times, it’s multitude of subgenres can make it seem like it has identity issues too. Does it want to be brutal and hard to listen to, or does it want to be soaring and epic? Not to mention the break-off arms of the genre, like Industrial and 80s glam metal. Still, there seems to be a consensus around a group of fans as to what makes “true metal” and Gama Bomb seem to hit this, with a big dollop of fun.

Ok, so what should “true metal” have? For this, we look back to the 70s, and bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath. Dark, fantastical themes, soaring vocals reaching into the giddy heights of falsetto, massive guitar distortion and a heavy bass presence all make metal the genre we recognise. Gama Bomb have all this in droves, and combine it all with the brutal speed of thrash.

One thing that turns a lot of people off metal is the perceived seriousness of it all. Metal is seen as a big, boys only club, where blood, death and destruction are discussed at eardrum destroying volume. Gama Bomb, on the other hand, are anything but serious (but may still break your eardrums). I could try and describe their brand of fun to you, but just let me give you a sample of their song titles, and some choice lyrics from them and let you work it out for yourself. It’s better this way, I promise:

Now, tell me you can take this band seriously. Don’t worry if you can’t, I very much doubt they want to be taken seriously. This is an album of silly fun, playing on the stereotypical expectations of metal. Musically, it’s not amazing, but very little metal ever is. For instance, I’m pretty sure this whole album is in the same key, as there have been numerous times when I’ve not realised when one song ended and another began. Also, there’s not as much of the guitar virtuosity some other bands have either. Though it isn’t completely absent, as seen in songs such as Polterghost, for instance, it is a lot more subdued than hat you would get from power metal bands such as Dragonforce. The rest of the band seems to be there just to play bloody fast, and create a good mood to hold up the really enjoyable narratives of the vocals. If you love metal, you’ll love this album, so feel free to add a point to my score at the bottom of this review for yourselves, metalheads. If your not a metal fan, it’s still worth a look, even just for a good laugh at the sillyness of it all.

Caiu na rede é peixe… No festival de 1 ano de blogosfera, Fut Pop Clube pede bis para uma das praxes aqui do blog, que são “fichinhas” de preferências gentilmente preenchidas por músicos. A primeira foi com integrantes da banda curitibana Copacabana Club, como a vocalista Cacá, o guitarrista Alec, o Tile e a Claudinha. Tem espaço  para o pessoal do Metalmorphose e pro homem-multimídia que liderava o Dorsal Atlântica e hoje toca o Mustang, o Carlos Lopes. E ainda o sambista Marcos Sacramento. Com as respostas dessa turma toda, conheci um monte de sons a mais!

Oltre il BellPaese buonista che caramella carmina e canta cliché: zecca l’oro che copre tutte le carie e tutte le carenze. Carenza che buca la pagina la parola il plasma: nella marea massmediatica di bbbuoni/socialmente impegnati/altruisti/benefattori/attivisti d’ogni sorta – chi sono i cattivi? E se non sono i giovani sono i metallari e quando sono giovani&metallari – sono prede prelibate da patibolare. E se prima l’etichetta [dai gloriosi esponenti della gloriosa Italietta Ipocrita] era: *alfiere dell’anoressia*, ora è: *paladina dei metallari*. Vera è la violenza con cui difendo ogni mio dire/dare – e non ho nessuna intenzione di smettere. Perché e per chi – non è difficile comprendere: troppo comodo parlare/prosare/poetare nei corposculi di qualche/qualsivoglia corrente. Assuefatti e accecati e accomodati nell’Arcadia e nell’Ammmore – asserire che la parola è cruda e crudele, che l’essere umano [tanto perfettibile quanto fallibile] prova e provoca Rabbia – è [ancora] realtà che non si vuole accettare.

E allora? The Best Of British Part 3

Yes, it’s the long overdue Part 3 of the series, they’re already calling “eh?”.

Sad to say that this installment kicks off with a tune from Di’Anno. Yes, the self proclaimed beast who was booted out of Iron Maiden, and who has spent the last 27 years desperately trying to find something to do with himself. Di’anno was the first shortlived outfit he was in post Maiden, only recording 2 singles and a live VHS, which only came out in Sweden. Then it was on to Gogmagog, Battlezone, Praying Mantis (for about a week in Japan), Killers, Nomad, another Di’Anno, and numerous permutations of the above. The first two Iron Maiden albums are the best thing that any of the lineups put out, but you can pretty much avoid everything since.

This installment comes to an end with Savage. Not Sweet, nor Electric, just plain Savage. ‘We Got The Edge’ was the lead track on their 12″ single release from 1984 on Zebra. Their earlier “Loose And Lethal” album was quite enjoyable, but that was absolutely no excuse for them making a comeback in the late nineties, releasing another album. They even managed to get a best of album put out in 2002 on Castle, which makes less than no sense. I mean, they were alright, but I don’t think anyone needed 80 minutes of Savage. Three minutes will do.

I’ve just received 4 specially cut remixes of Iron Maidens “Number of the Beast” 2 with the intro and 2 without. So now I only have to make my pick and start coming up with some moves.

This is very exiting and hard as I’ll have to shake fast to move to the music!!!!

The costume will probably be in black with long black fringes and maby some studs, who knows…
After making 2 routines about money (Big Spender and Money Money) it feels exiting doing something completely different. Keep posted to see how it goes…

Gli Iron Maiden nella storia dell’heavy metal, costituiscono molto probabilmente “il gruppo” di maggior fama e originalità.
Fondati a metà degli anni 70 dal bassista Steve Harris, si guadagnarono la scena musicale nazionale ed internazionale agli inizi degli anni 80, raggiungendo la vetta del successo con la pubblicazione del super classico “The Number Of The Beast”.
Si tratta di un gruppo molto equilibrato e di importante longevità (35 anni dalla nascita) che nel tempo ha subito transitorie modificazioni nella formazione; pur mantenendo un’importante costante: Steve Harris e Dave Murray.

Il bassista Steve Harris, grande genio musicale (capace di comporre mentalmente un’intera canzone), decise di fondare una band che potesse seguirlo nella sua scalata al successo e che fosse capace di interpretare egregiamente i riff impegnativi e tecnici che hanno fatto di questa band l’invidia della scena metal.
Il chitarrista Dave Murray, presente nella band sin dagli inizi, rappresenta un esempio di artista virtuoso ed originale nel suo stile. La sua tecnica si basa essenzialmente su trilli e legati eleganti molto veloci (unico nel suo genere). Grande improvvisatore dal fascino artistico sublime è stato a suo tempo grande fan di Jimi Hendrix da cui, probabilmente, ha attinto molto del suo carisma e della sua spontaneità.
Il secondo chitarrista Adrian Smith lo si può definire un compositore a tutti gli effetti. Un musicista che ama creare assoli che si adattano al contesto delle canzoni. Molto diverso da Dave, il quale, è in buona sostanza un improvvisatore, egli gode della fama di scrittore di canzoni e assoli quasi sempre meticolosi, dal taglio originale e armonioso.
Bruce è senza dubbio “la voce” degli Iron Maiden che ha ispirato diversi cantanti metal. Egli è un incredibile frontman dalla voce brillante capace di raggiungere tonalità altissime, oltre che: pilota di linea per una compagnia britannica, chitarrista, scrittore e speaker radiofonoco per una radio inglese.
Nicko è il batterista per eccellenza. I grandi batteristi metal lo definiscono “un atleta”. Famoso per l’incredibile corposità dei suoi ritmi e la ricca composizione della propria batteria. Non si dimostra mai superficiale nello stile di suonare. Le sue parole in una intervista fattagli a proposito del primo album scritto con la band inglese (Piece Of Mind) sono state: “Suono in una delle band più prestigiose al mondo, con uno dei più grandi compositori che abbia mai conosciuto, con i chitarristi più tecnici e virtuosi della scena musicale e con uno dei più bravi cantanti che siano mai esistiti. Il loro modo di pensare e di lavorare mi impedisce di suonare in modo banale”.
Janick è il terzo chitarrista della band. Arrivato alla fine degli anni 80 quando Adrian si allontanò per qualche tempo, non se ne andò mai più, anche dopo il ritorno di Adrian nel 2000.

La fama dei Maiden è tanta ed è ovunque.
Rappresentano di per sè un vero gruppo (serio e motivato), il sogno di un ragazzo adolescente che decise un giorno di scrivere musica per guadagnarsi da vivere e di come egli abbia permesso ad altre cinque persone di viverlo insieme a lui!!!

Intanto gli Iron Maiden hanno pubblicato, il 21 aprile, un lungometraggio titolato : “Iron Maiden Flight 666 – The Movie”.
Il film, girato in alta definizione 5.1, documenta il “Somewhere back in time world tour” del 2008 e comprende, oltre ad immagini dei concerti e del backstage, delle riprese effettuate in giro per il globo a bordo del famoso Ed Force One (il 757 customizzato con le grafiche della band) tra 23 date sold-out in 13 differenti stati.

Contrariamente a quanto si potrebbe pensare, il metal è una forma d’arte estrema, che poggia le sue
radici su tre fondamentali gruppi del passato: Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple e Black Sabbath.
Esistono diverse forme di metal, le quali, si distinguono in funzione dei ritmi (batteria, basso), delle
melodie (chitarre) e la voce.
Bisogna considerare che ciascuna categoria può racchiudere fino a decine di sottocategorie che
possono, a loro volta, contenere melodie ispirate ai generi più disparati come: synphonic, ambient
piuttosto che musica classica.
Sulla base di quanto esposto, risulta essere molto difficile distinguere un genere da un altro. I gruppi
appartenenti ad una determinata categoria non sempre sono propensi a rispettare lo stesso contesto
musicale, e questo può avvenire anche nel corso di un unica canzone, ad esempio, alternando ritmi
progressive frenetici ad arpeggi melodici che ricordano da vicino musiche melodiche da
“ascensore”.
Un errore relativamente importante è quello di generalizzare troppo nel classificare la maggior parte
dei gruppi metal, definendoli a priori “heavy metal” (genere inventato dai Black Sabbath negli anni
70). I soli gruppi degni di ricevere questa etichetta, sono quelli appartenenti alla cosiddetta
NWOBHM, ovvero, il movimento britannico definito New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, di cui gli
Iron Maiden sono una pietra miliare. Insieme a loro ci sono: Samson, Judas Priest, Def Leppard,
Agelwitch, Motorhead, etc..

Una piccola nota storica riguardo al NWOBHM è di dovere, oltre che di obbligo, in quanto fan
sostenitore degli Iron Maiden. Infatti, alla fine degli anni 70, con l’esplosione del punk, in parte
legato all’enorme successo dei Sex Pistols, l’heavy metal aveva subito un declino importante,
risanato prontamente da due album fondamentali per la storia del metal: Iron Maiden e Killers!!

Ciascun genere metal ha una sua località nativa nel mondo. Esso pertanto rimane fedele alla
madrepatria che lo ha generato, rappresentando il gruppo che gli ha dato vita. Così:

Il black metal è tipico dei paesi scandinavi, contenente riferimenti dark e caratterizzato da ritmi
folli a volte interrotti da melodie capaci di evocare atmosfere vampiresche o gotiche. Probabilmente
è quello che contiene il maggior numero di sottocategorie: Viking, Doom, Gothic.
Creato dai Venom negli anni 80, fanno parte tuttora di questo genere: Cradle of Filth, Dimmu
Borgir, Death Throne, Marduk, Immortal, Impaled Nazarene.

Il death metal nasce nei paesi nord europei ed è stato creato dai Death. Molto tecnico ed è per chi
ha una buona conoscenza dei propri strumenti, a differenza del black metal. In genere cattivo,
veloce, molto tecnico e con voci gutturali. Fanno parte di questa categoria: Morbid Angel, Children
Of Bodom, In Flames…

Il trash metal è statunitense ed è stato fondato dai Metallica. Innovativo, poichè nessun gruppo
all’inizion degli anni 80 prima di loro si era mai spinto così oltre in termini di volume e velocità.
Fanno parte di questa categoria: Slayer, Testament, Kreator e Megadeth.

L’ industrial, di cui il nu metal è un derivato, è difficile da definire, ma si potrebbe dire che gruppi
come Korn e Limp Bizkit hanno giocato un ruolo importante nella sua creazione.
Fondamentalmente si tratta di un metal piacevolmente gradevole che può sconfinare nel crossover
mescolano alternative metal, hip pop e rapcore. Caratterizzato da un sound quasi punk fatto di
accordi distorti aperti, mi sentirei di classificare come tali: Slipknot, System Of Down, Disturbed,
Incubus, Linkin Park, Mudvayne…

Il progressive metal rappresenta la categoria “colta” del genere metal. Utilizza spesso tastiere ed è
davvero tecnico sotto ogni aspetto. Caratterizzato da canzoni molto lunghe e simile ad un trash
meno frenetico e più controllato. Oggi di gruppi definibili progrssive ne esistono pochi: Dream
Theater, ma anche qualcosa dei Tool.

Il power metal, volgarmente definito speed metal, è un metal tecnico veloce ed estramamente
melodico che si ispira ad ambientazioni fantasy. La sua nascita la si deve probabilmente agli
Helloween. Fanno parte di questa categoria: Stratovarius, Gammaray, Rhapsody.

Ritengo che non sia necessario spendere altre parole su gruppi synphonic come: Within Temptation,
Nightwish, etc… che basano il proprio stile su un metal calssico (che più classico non si può),
introducendo in ogni canzone sinfonie melodiche con tastiere e voci angeliche corali, creando
atmosfere magiche, ma allo stesso tempo cupe.
