<p>Isuzu has a long history of developing quirky interesting cars. It made up for what it lacked in a full line of passenger cars, by making distinctive and often technically innovative niche vehicles. The subcompact Stylus was the latest in a long list of distinctive compact cars that included the Impulse. conceived as the  replacement for the dependable (but unloved) I-Mark sedan, it was also the basis for the sporty Impulse coupe.</p>
<p><img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-372" title="93 stylus xs" src="http://autopolis.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/93-stylus-xs.jpg?w=150" alt="1991 Isuzu Stylus RS" width="150" height="100" />The front wheel drive chassis featured tuning by Lotus in the top XS model with power coming from a 125 hp DOHC 1.8 l engine.  Disc brakes and a 5 speed manual transmission were standard, along with along list of high-tech items that made the Stylus stand out in the crowded subcompact marketplace. The Stylus had a very sporty appearance even in it’s base trims, with a vented hood, integrated fog lights and front air dam. The car’s handling was in the top of it’s class, but refinement and overall value was below segment leaders like Honda and Toyota. Isuzu’s small dealer network meant that the Stylus was a very rare car in most parts of the country. In America, Isuzu was mostly associated with trucks, as its car lineup was no larger than two in any given year.</p>
<p>When the Stylus short run came to an end in 1994, there was no immediate replacement in the US market. In Japan and Europe, the Stylus was replaced by a rebadged Honda similar in size to the Civic and called the Gemini. It was far more refined than the previous Gemini (Stylus), but without the blessing of Lotus tuning, not nearly as fun to drive.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Isuzu Philippines Corp., the world’s leading utility and lifestyle vehicle line, has launched a calamity assistance program that gives customers a 30-percent discount on parts and related labor charges.</p>
<p>“Isuzu is one with the country in these truly challenging times,” said IPC executive vice president Yuki Kato. “We would like our clients to know that we will extend all the assistance they may require to get their Isuzu vehicles back on the road.”<br />

Under this program, Isuzu is providing a 30-percent discount on parts including engine, transmission, drivetrain, ECM/TCM, body panels, doors and electrical parts but excluding batteries and accessories. The same discount applies on labor charges for repair, replacement, installation and overhauling of the mentioned parts.</p>
<p>The program covers only those vehicles that are brought to Isuzu dealerships from Oct. 9 to 31. Should Isuzu fail to release the vehicle on or before Oct 31 due to unavailability of needed parts, said vehicle will still be covered by the program.</p>
<p>The calamity assistance package includes all Isuzu dealerships, authorized sub-dealers, branches and satellite offices.</p>
<p>“We understand that this is a situation that needs urgent attention,” said Kato. “So we would like to inform our clients that we will do our best to accommodate all their vehicle-related concerns the way we at Isuzu have always done it…quickly and efficiently.”</p>
<p>For inquiries, visit your nearest Isuzu dealership. In Metro Manila, Isuzu dealerships can be found in EDSA Balintawak, Quezon Ave., Commonwealth, Pasig, Manila, Makati and Alabang.</p>

<p>The 117 was a first for Japanese cars. First to use an Italian designer (Giorgetto Giugiaro) and the first to use a DOHC engine in a time when most engines would be pushrods well into the Eighties. The cars sleek European design was unlike anything in Isuzu&#8217;s line of homely looking trucks and small commuter cars. </p>
<div><span style="font-size:x-small;">First seen as a prototype in the 1966 Geneva Motor Show, the 117 went into small scale production in 1968. Initially being hand-built with no more than 50 cars produced a month. The first engine was a 1.6 L DOHC inline 4. In 1970, a Bosch electronic fuel injection system was added. The 117 was technically far ahead of its time considering that it later went into mas production in a partnership with GM, while maintaining options such as leather seats, wood trim and it&#8217;s advanced engine in the top model. A less luxurious version called the 1800N was added in 1971 with a simpler 1.8 SOHC 4 cylinder carburetted engine.</span> </div>

<p>The 117 was popular during it&#8217;s run and today is a sought after collectors car. Over 85,000 units were built during It&#8217;s unusually long life-cycle. Working examples are rare and command top prices, mostly because the 117 offered the best of Japanese reliability and Italian design. Unlike many of the Italian/American hybrids of the era, the 117 limited its European influences to cosmetics. The car received small refinements throughout it&#8217;s life, mostly confined to engine options that evolved to a 2 liter DOHC and a 2.2 liter diesel. Visually, the changes were more subtle, with quad square headlights being offered in the late 70&#8217;s and revised tail lights. The 117 Coupe was replaced by another Giugiaro designed car called the Impulse or Piazza in Japan.</p>

<p> Regardless of the GFC, the light commercial ute segment enjoyed its best month in Australian history this year in June despite massive stock shortages as a result of the government incentive fuelled sales boom.</p>
<p> Queensland remains the most popular state for the D-MAX (Isuzu&#8217;s Australian operations are based in Brisbane) with 27 per cent share, closely followed by NSW on 25.5 and  Victoria on 22 per cent.</p>

<p> As expected, the most popular D-MAX variants have been the top of the range crew cab utes, both the 44 LS-U (15%) and its near-identical 42 LS stablemate (13%) have led the charge.</p>
<p> Isuzu plans to sell over 5,000 utes in 2010 with its sights set primarily on increasing its share of the fleet and government market. Currently about 64 per cent of Isuzu D-Max sales are to private buyers with 34 per cent to fleet and 2 per cent to government, in comparison 72 per cent of Toyota Hilux sales are to fleet buyers with only 18 per cent private.</p>
<p> Isuzu has big plans in Australia and there is no reason to doubt their intentions, next month the company will celebrate its one million D-Max sale in Thailand.</p>
<p> Ryoji Yamazaki, the General Manager of Isuzu International Department told journalists that the important victory is not the 1 millionth sale but rather that the celebrated D-Max will sell for a higher price than the Toyota Hilux in Thailand, showcasing the brand&#8217;s reputation in such a massive ute market.</p>
<p> Asked about the addition of ESP to the utes, Richard Power, Isuzu Ute Australia&#8217;s public relations manager said that technologically it&#8217;s something that Isuzu could do tomorrow but is currently waiting for the right time.</p>
<p> The Japanese company, which is owned by Mitsubishi, also leaked potential plans that it may bring out an Isuzu SUV in the future. A D-Max based Isuzu SUV, called the MU7, is already offered in Thailand.</p>

<p> The D-Max ute is powered by a torquey 3.0-litre common-rail, variable-vane turbo-diesel engine with 360 Nm at 1800-2800 rpm, 120 kW peak power at 3200rpm and ADR 81/02 fuel economy rating of 8.1litres/100km.</p>

<p><strong>Singapura, 2 Oktomber 2009 -</strong> Kepuasan pelanggan secara keseluruhan dengan pengalaman penjualan kendaraan di Indonesia meningkat di tahun 2009, karena waktu pengiriman kendaraan yang lebih cepat dan bertambahnya kontak dengan pelanggan pasca penjualan, menurut Studi J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2009 Indonesia Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI)SM yang diumumkan hari ini.</p>
<p><!--more-->Studi yang memasuki tahun kesembilan ini mengamati tujuh faktor yang mempengaruhi kepuasan pelanggan secara keseluruhan dengan pembelian kendaraan baru dan pengalaman pada saat pengiriman. Berdasarkan tingkat pentingnya, faktor-faktor ini adalah: proses pengiriman, waktu pengiriman, transaksi, fasilitas dealer, tenaga penjualan, penanganan dokumen dan inisiasi penjualan. SSI dilaporkan dalam nilai indeks dengan skala 1.000 poin, dimana nilai SSI yang lebih tinggi mengindikasikan kepuasan konsumen yang lebih terhadap penjualan kendaraan baru dan proses pengiriman.</p>
<p>Kepuasan keseluruhan dengan pembelian diantara pemilik kendaraan baru di Indonesia pada tahun 2009 mencapai 767 poin, naik 11 poin dibandingkan tahun 2008. Studi ini menemukan bahwa rata-rata waktu yang diperlukan untuk mengirim kendaraan menurun dari 15,8 hari di tahun 2008 menjadi 11,8 hari di tahun 2009. </p>
<p>Di samping itu, persentase jumlah pelanggan yang mengatakan bahwa pengiriman kendaraan memakan waktu lebih dari dua minggu, turun menjadi 21 persen tahun ini dari 32 persen di tahun 2008. Kontak untuk follow-up dengan pemilik kendaraan setelah dilakukannya pengiriman juga naik dari 73 persen di tahun 2008, menjadi 80 persen di tahun 2009.</p>
<p>Di antara enam merek yang diamati dalam studi tahun 2009 ini, Honda meraih peringkat tertinggi dengan nilai rata-rata SSI 775 dan meraih nilai yang sangat baik dalam hal inisiasi penjualan, fasilitas dealer, transaksi, tenaga penjualan dan proses pengiriman. Mengikuti Honda dalam peringkat ini adalah Suzuki (772) dan Toyota (771). Nilai Suzuki melonjak dari 2008 dan merek ini memperoleh nilai yang cukup tinggi untuk waktu pengiriman dan tenaga penjualan, sedangkan Toyota memperoleh nilai yang baik untuk fasilitas dealer dan penanganan dokumen.</p>
<p>&#8220;Setengah tahun pertama di 2009 adalah periode yang penuh dengan tantangan untuk para pabrik dan dealer, dimana penjualan kendaraan baru turun hampir 28 persen dibandingkan 2008,&#8221; menurut Rajeev Nair, senior manager di J.D. Power Asia Pacific, Singapura. &#8220;Saat penjualan sudah mulai meningkat lagi, para dealer bisa mendapatkan manfaat dengan terus menyediakan pengalaman pembelian dan pengiriman yang menyenangkan bagi pelanggan.&#8221;</p>
<p>Studi ini juga menemukan bahwa diantara pelanggan yang sangat puas dengan pengalaman pembelian di dealer, 57 persen mengatakan &#8220;pasti akan&#8221; merekomendasikan dealer mereka ke teman dan keluarga. Persentase ini turun menjadi 21 persen di antara pelanggan yang mengatakan mereka sangat tidak puas dengan pengalaman pembelian.</p>
<p>Hal yang serupa juga ditemukan, dimana 55 persen dari pelanggan yang sangat puas mengatakan &#8220;pasti akan&#8221; merekomendasikan merek yang mereka beli kepada teman dan keluarga. Sebaliknya, hanya 27 persen dari pelanggan yang sangat tidak puas mengatakan &#8220;pasti akan&#8221; merekomendasikan merek yang mereka beli ke teman dan keluarga.</p>
<p>Rekomendasi dari teman dan keluarga adalah sumber informasi yang paling sering digunakan oleh pembeli kendaraan baru saat memilih merek dan model yang akan dibeli. Sekitar 70 persen dari pemilik kendaraan baru mengatakan mereka menanyakan informasi tentang merek dan model kendaraan kepada teman dan keluarga.</p>
<p>&#8220;Salah satu titik yang penting dalam proses penjualan adalah dimulainya hubungan yang berkelanjutan antara pelanggan dan suatu merek serta dealer,&#8221; kata Nair. &#8220;Merek dan dealer yang memberikan pengalaman pembelian yang sangat memuaskan kepada pelanggan bisa mendapatkan keuntungan dari kesetiaan pelanggan dan juga dari bertambahnya pengunjung showroom yang datang berkat rekomendasi.&#8221;</p>
<p>Studi ini juga mengungkapkan naiknya persentase pelanggan di Indonesia yang membeli kendaraan baru untuk pertama kalinya. Jumlah ini naik dari 31 persen di 2005 menjadi 45 persen di 2009. Sebagian besar dari pelanggan yang membeli kendaraan baru untuk pertama kalinya, memilih model dari segmen MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) atau Entry MPV.</p>
<p>&#8220;Pelanggan yang membeli kendaraan untuk pertama kalinya pada umumnya tergolong muda, sangat mementingkan nilai dan harga, dan peduli akan kendaraan yang hemat bahan bakar,&#8221; kata Nair. &#8220;Pabrik dan dealer bisa mendapatkan keuntungan jika mereka menyesuaikan produk yang dijual dengan kebutuhan konsumen di segmen yang sedang berkembang ini.</p>
<p>Studi 2009 Indonesia SSI ini berdasarkan jawaban dari 2.155 pemilik kendaraan baru yang membeli kendaraannya pada periode antara bulan Oktober 2008 dan Mei 2009. Kerja lapangan untuk studi ini dilakukan antara bulan April dan Juli 2009.</p>
