Davinci’s is a wonderful restaurant located at Mission Plaza in Marco Island, FL. They have a lovely atmosphere indoors as well as out but of course I prefer to eat al fresco! The service is always impeccable and presentations is always done up but not overly, which I like! The restaurant is run by a 3 Brothers from Italy and their cousin as well. One of the brothers you are sure to get to know, Eldamo, because he will of course stop in to chat with you and make sure the food is too your liking, he is fantastic! Absolutely EVERYTHING on the Menu is amazing! I have been coming here for a long time, and still when I come down to visit I have to go multiple times to get my fill of everything that is delicious at Davinci’s. They even have Sushi at Davinci’s, not kidding, a group of sushi chefs were looking to open a restaurant but couldn’t find a good spot so they joined up with Davinci’s so you can have the best of Italy and Japan. Usually this worries me but honestly their sushi is almost as amazing as their pasta and pizza. As I said I have been there a lot so there is kind of a smorgasbord going on here… don’t be alarmed! hahaha

Appetizer Order 1: Burrata

Burrata

Burrata is a fresh italian cheese, similar to fresh mozzarella but richer in taste and texture. It is silky smooth on the exterior with a hidden creamy center. This burrata is served on top of an array of finely sliced prosciutto, a bed of arugula, and dressed in a balsamic reduction sauce. This was one of the best Burrata I have ever had. Thanks to my friend Rocco, who recommended this dish to me, I got to experience this heavenly dish. The burrata was decadent and smooth, the prosciutto was melt in your mouth amazing and all the flavors of the arugula and balsamic reduction really complimented all aspects of the dish.

Appetizer Order 2: Calamari Fritti

Calamari Friti

My family is officially addicted to Davinci’s fried calamari. If you sit down with my family and you want one of the tentacles you better be ready to attach as soon as the plate hits the table. The calamari is always perfectly cooked, it should be soft never EVER chewy. Whats great about their calamari is its very lightly breaded so it still lets the taste of the fresh squid take the lead role on your pallet. I usually like to eat it with just a squeeze of lemon, but Davinci’s marinara sauce is so delicious I couldn’t resist!

Appetizer Order 3: Sushi – Rainbow Roll and Ichiban Roll

Sushi Colore!

Ok so I know its weird to have sushi at an italian restaurant but a group of sushi chefs from Japan moved to the island a few years ago and couldn’t keep a “just sushi” restaurant open on the island, so the brothers of Davinci’s said “Hey, you can serve sushi over here at Davinci’s!” and it has been a lovely marriage of the two ever since. Their sushi is actually fantastic, very fresh and finely hand crafted. The Rainbow Roll, which is a California Roll topped with tuna, salmon, yellowtail and shrimp, is a nice roll but I am not going to spend too much time on it because you can pretty much order that anywhere. The Ichiban Roll however was rockin! It included spicy tuna, salmon and yellowtail along with some cucumber. This roll was both refreshing and had a nice kick! Highly Addicting I warn you!

Pizza Order 1: Caprese Pizza

Caprese Pizza

This pizza is so intoxicating. First off the crust is fantastic and always cooked through to a crisp finish, no mushy centers here! This pizza is started with a marinara sauce then fresh Roma Tomatoes, Fresh Mozzarella, and finally finished with the aromatic fresh basil. This is one of my favorite pizzas to order because its simple and delicious.

Pizza Order 2: Pizza al Prosciutto, Arugola e Grana

Pizza al Prosciutto, Arugola e Grana

If you love prosciutto this is your pizza. They start with sauce and then an under layer of prosciutto that covers the entire pizza. Then they top that with a generous layer of arugula that has been tossed with extra virgin olive oil and salt and pepper. And finally it is finished with shaved grana cheese. It was an absolutely fabulous slice of pizza, and the combination of flavors practically puts on a party in your mouth. This could be one of my favorite pizzas ever created!

Pizza Order 3: Pizza Mare e Monti

Pizza Mare e Monti

Seafood pizza is not a typical menu item of your average pizzeria down the street. But in Florida when the seafood is so plentiful, why not take advantage! This pizza starts off with sauce of course and then a layer of heavenly mozzarella then some mushrooms and then… Shrimp, Calamari, and Mussels! I loved this pizza, it was so delicious and all the seafood was fresh and delectable. I couldn’t refuse that last slice… or two

Entre Order: Cavatelli Leonardo with Chicken

Cavatelli Leonardo

I can tell you that all the entrees at Davinci’s are fantastic, I have tried them all, mostly off other peoples plates though! Because I cannot bring myself to order any other entree but the Cavetelli Leonardo. I swear I have dreams about this pasta dish. First off the Cavetelli is homemade, with a potato dough, that is just so delicious and amazing I don’t know how you could want anything more. The cavetelli is tossed with steamed broccoli di rape, a garlic and olive oil sauce, and finally perfectly sautéed chicken. The dish actually comes with italian sausage, which is delicious as well but I prefer it with chicken. This dish is just a delicious, satisfying, comfort creating food. I am in love with this dish!

Dessert Order: Tiramisu

Tiramisu

Davinci’s Tiramisu is a layered piece of heaven. It begins with Savoiardi cookies that have been soaked in espresso and coffee liqueur and then layered with sweetened mascarpone cream cheese and then finally topped with finely grated cocoa. They served us a huge piece that all six of us could share, which of course made me very happy. Their italian, were italian, they know we eat a lot
