It’s time to board your monthly flight with Aeroplane!

Admittedly – the last couple of mixes didn’t really set me on fire. It seemed they were flung together for the sake of doing it, and the content were to say the least kind of patchy.

With the release of the dire Robbie Williams remix my feelings around Aeroplane were starting to fade considerably.

BUT – it ain’t over ’til the long haired dude struts his guitar, and with the forthcoming excellent remix of The Doves – “Brazil” – and this November Mix Chart it seems the boys are definitely putting on their stealth gloves, and gearing up for their forthcoming Soulwaxmas Tour and Killer NYE in Australia.

If you expect the usual mid-tempo, Balearic, sun drenched Aeroplane affair you’ll be massively surprised over the fact that this mix comes drenched in sweat, spit and beer stains, and kicks like an angry mule barred from heading out for a night on the tiles. There’s even some nice distorted guitar mayhem going on here!

There’s enough action in here to keep you entertained for – well – at least its 47′53″ mins. course – and it’s a right Silly Season knees-up, which rocks from start to finish!

Mp3: Aeroplane – November Mix Chart (LINK UPDATED)

“Righeira” war ein italienisches Popduo, das zu Beginn der Achtziger Jahre gegründet wurde. Die Liedtexte wurden von den Sängern in ihrer Muttersprache aber auch auf Spanisch gesungen. Die Musik ist dem heute noch gängigen Italo-Disco-Stil zuzuordnen, dessen Produktionen in den 80ern und frühen 90ern sehr erfolgreich waren. Über die Landesgrenzen hinaus wurden “Righeira” ironischerweise gerade mit zwei Liedern in spanischer Sprache aus den Jahren 1983 und 1984 bekannt. Das erste Lied handelt von der Aufforderung, nach der Explosion einer Atombombe an den Strand zu gehen. Dort soll man sich durch die auftretende Strahlung nicht nur eine “Bräunung” in blauer Farbe holen, sondern sich auch gegen den radioaktiven Wind schützen, der die Haare kräuselt. Das spätere Lied handelt von dem allseits verbreiteten Wunsch, in Reichtum zu schwelgen.

For want of better expression – it’s the time of the month!

Aeroplane are at again with their latest session of their on-going Mix Chart series. It’s time to board the October flight to destination Space.

I freely admit – I’m not a massive fan of their recent remix of Robbie Williams – “Bodies” – which is the very reason why I didn’t feature it on these pages. Way too commercial for my liking, and a vague attempt in trying to polish an already sonic turd.

But – hey – the pay-check was probably way fat, and nice work if you can get, so why not take the gaunlet and run with it if you can.

The October Mix Chart is much more on par with what it’s about. Packed to the brim with Balearic pianoes, super cool Italo-Disco and that awesome new single from Groove Armada – “I Won’t Kneel”, which luckily is featured in its original mix, and not the pitiful Bloody Beetroots remix floating around.

Speaking of well-oiled machinery!

The hype machine surrounding Serge Santiago and Tom Neville’s  - Retro/Grade – project has been running on overtime since the release of the 10′mins. epic in the shape of “Moda”, which had everyone falling over themselves in appraisal.

Prepare for said machine to kick into super overdrive at the release of yet another taster for their forthcoming 2010 Italo-House inspired album, which apparently has been in the making since 2005.

Retro/Grade nods heavily to Jean-Michel Jarre’s – “Equinoxe” – album, and lace – “Zoid” – with some Electro and Italo-Disco trimmings, which brings the whole caboodle up to date in fine form.

It may be 2′00″ mins too long for my liking, but who cares when it presses the right buttons.

As an added bonus – you’ll find the full 10′35″ mins. version of – “Moda” – to point you into the Retro/Grade zone.

Stay sharp for the coming album in 2010.

I don't like it, la portada, ese.

Con esos últimos tres discos que subimos -muy buenos, por cierto- parecemos cualquier otro blog. Y no es que me preocupe lo que piense la gente que entre por primera vez, es que me preocupa que se vayan a otro lado los que ya llevan rato aquí. Por eso me di a la tarea de encontrarles algo más nuestro, más electrosón, aunque sea rapidito.

Acá Malente, desde Alemania, con un remake de I Like It, que hiciera famosa la KC & The Sunshine Band en algún momento que no ubico entre los setentas y principios de los ochentas (tarareese en sonido disco: that’s the way aja, aja, aja I like it, aja). Esta versión es un buen techno medio rudo con un poco de italo -por obvias razones- que resulta prendidona y aceptable para una pista de baile que este empezando (o acabando). Acompletan el disquito un par de remixes cortesía de Riva Starr y Mikix The Cat (este último sucio y rechinante, como me gustan).
