<title><![CDATA[Prita dan Luna Maya: Opera van Internet Khas Indonesia]]></title>

<p>Bahkan ada saatnya kesabaran mendapatkan ujian yang paling tinggi, ketika magma kemarahan, kekesalan dan kekecewaaan mendapatkan momen untuk meledak. Internet, ibarat pipa kapiler, yang secara sunyi dan perlahan menyalurkan letupan-letupan ekspresi yang pada suatu masa niscaya berujung pada ledakan masif.</p>
<p>Ketika berkomunikasi termediasi dengan teknologi sedemikian rupa, maka kegamangan rentan terjadi. Kita lebih banyak &#8220;berbicara&#8221; melalui perantara e-mail, twitter, facebook dan messenger ketimbang menggunakan lidah dan mulut untuk menghasilkan ucapan yang terdengar.</p>
<p>Kita pun terasa lebih nyaman &#8220;berucap&#8221; dengan ujung jari, melalui keyboard laptop ataupun keypad BlackBerry, ketimbang harus menunjukkan bahasa tubuh (wajah) saat berkomunikasi.</p>
<p>Hal demikian mengakibatkan kita kehilangan total 93% faktor penting saat berkomunikasi, menurut sebuah penelitian seorang profesor dari UCLA, yaitu 38% faktor intonasi suara dan 55% faktor bahasa tubuh. Itulah faktor bahasa non-verbal yang hilang ketika kita berkomunikasi di dunia maya saat ini.</p>
<p>Simbol Komunikasi</p>
<p>Lantaran hanya bermodalkan pada sisa 7% yaitu bahasa verbal, maka wajarlah bila kita pahami bahwa apa yang sekedar terdengar atau tertulis dalam sebuah komunikasi ataupun ekspresi, bukanlah persis sesuai dengan apa yang dimaksud atau dituju oleh penyampai pesan.</p>
<p>Komunikasi bermediasi komputer (computer-mediated communication) dan Internet, disadari atau tidak, merekonstruksi cara pemahaman orang terhadap simbol-simbol komunikasi. Kini kita lebih percaya kesahihan bahasa verbal yang tertulis di facebook, twitter ataupun e-mail ketimbang lebih dahulu mencoba mencerna konteksnya.</p>
<p>Dulu, ketika proses komunikasi masih sesederhana tatap muka (face-fo-face), konteks dapat dipahami dari bahasa non-verbal. Dengan memahami konteks, kita bisa lebih memiliki kelapangan hati dalam memahami kondisi si penyampai pesan. Apakah dia sedang bahagia, marah ataupun tertekan, bisa menjadi justifikasi kita untuk menilai utuh sebuah pesan yang disampaikan.</p>
<p>Sekarang, kita seakan tidak peduli lagi. Pesan yang disampaikan seseorang kita nilai dingin sebagaimana pesan itu tertulis atau tersampaikan. Maka kini kita merasa lebih mampu menilai kepribadian dan niat seseorang hanya dari pesan tertulisnya, yang notabene hanya mewakili 7% faktor komunikasi, ketimbang mencoba menggali dan memahami konteks yang mengakibatkan adanya pesan tersebut.</p>
<p>Dalam pendekatan ilmu komunikasi bermediasi komputer, ditegaskan pula bahwa karena ketiadaan interaksi sosial secara fisik (tatap muka),  maka masing-masing pelaku komunikasi akan menciptakan sendiri kesan stereotipe dan persepsi ideal dari figur lawan berkomunikasinya. Inilah yang kemudian disebut sebagai sebuah bentuk hyperpersonal, ketika komunikasi yang sifatnya “personal” dipersepsikan sedemikan rupa oleh pihak lain, ketika tersampaikan melalui Internet (facebook, twitter, dan sebagainya). Bahkan persepsi yang timbul kemudian, bukan tidak mungkin menjadi makin kabur dari kenyataan yang sesungguhnya.</p>
<p>Ranah Maya</p>
<p>Maka terjadilah kasus Prita Mulyasari dan kasus Luna Maya. Serupa tapi tak sama. Lantaran pesan yang disampaikan oleh keduanya dianggap tersebar, disebarkan ataupun menyebar di ranah publik, maka dengan mudah hal tersebut ditangkap oleh pihak-pihak yang dengan berbagai kemungkinan motivasi memang ingin memperkarakannya.</p>
<p>Pesan yang disampaikan oleh Prita melalui e-mail maupun yang disampaikan oleh Luna Maya melalui twitter, kemudian hanya diterjemahkan &#8220;apa adanya&#8221;. Mengapa atau apa alasan Prita dan Luna Maya (sampai harus) menyampaikan pesan tersebut, (sempat) terabaikan sedemikian rupa.</p>
<p>Ketika domain komunikasinya adalah di ranah maya, maka keberadaan UU Informasi dan Transaksi Elektronik (ITE), khususnya pasal 27 ayat 3, dianggap obat yang cespleng untuk menjerat keduanya.</p>
<p>&#8220;Setiap orang dengan sengaja dan tanpa hak mendistribusikan dan / atau mentransmisikan dan / atau membuat dapat diaksesnya Informasi Elektronik dan / atau Dokumen Elektronik yang memiliki muatan penghinaan dan / atau pencemaran nama baik&#8221;, demikian isi pasal 27 ayat 3 UU ITE tersebut.</p>
<p>Pasal Karet</p>
<p>Melankolis sekali, tetapi memang demikian faktanya. Pasal penghinaan dan pencemaran nama baik ini sangat rentan disalahgunakan hanya untuk melindungi &#8220;perasaan&#8221; seseorang ketimbang hal lainnya.</p>
<p>Dan sayangnya, seseorang di sini bukanlah sembarangan &#8220;seseorang&#8221;, tetapi pihak atau sekumpulan yang secara status (merasa lebih unggul) daripada si penyampai pesan. Entah unggul dari sisi sumber daya finansial maupun sumber daya opini publik.</p>
<p>Pasal ini memang pasal karet, karena sifatnya yang sangat subyektif. Siapapun kemudian berhak merasa dihina atau dicemarkan nama baiknya, hanya karena sebuah postingan di Internet. Siapapun kini merasa dilindungi oleh pasal ini, dan kemudian balik menggunakannya untuk &#8220;menyerang&#8221; orang lain yang  dalam keadaan tertentu harus menyampaikan ekspresi, informasi atau pendapatnya.</p>
<p>Maka ketika siapapun berhak untuk &#8220;merasa&#8221; dihina dan / atau dicemarkan nama baiknya oleh orang lain, dan ketika suatu postingan di Internet dapat dengan mudah dianggap memiliki muatan penghinaan atau pencemaran nama baik, ditambah dengan keberadaan pasal 27 ayat 3 UU ITE yang sangat luwes, maka inilah masa ketika kebebasan berpendapat, berekspresi dan berinformasi rentan tercederai.</p>
<p>Sapu Jagat</p>
<p>Ukuran &#8220;tanpa hak&#8221; pada pasal 27 ayat 3 UU ITE sangatlah rancu. Pertanyannya, siapa yang kemudian &#8220;memiliki hak&#8221; untuk menghina dan mencemarkan nama baik pihak lain? Aneh rasanya jika ada pihak, siapapun, yang bertugas mengeluarkan atau menjamin hak untuk menghina dan mencemarkan nama baik!</p>
<p>Dari kacamata orang awam, setidaknya oleh saya, pasal tersebut pun tidak memberikan ruang yang lapang bagi si penyampai pesan untuk mengemukakan konteks yang terjadi dan niatnya. Apakah pesan yang disampaikannya memang sengaja diniatkan untuk melakukan penghinaan ataukah luapan kekecewaan dan emosi belaka? Apakah informasi yang dipostingnya memang ditujukan untuk mencemarkan nama baik?</p>
<p>Memang ada klausul &#8220;dengan sengaja&#8221;, sebagai representasi &#8220;niat&#8221;, yang harus dipenuhi dalam pasal tersebut. Tetapi ini tidak jelas, apakah &#8220;dengan sengaja&#8221; di sini mengacu pada proses menyampaikan / memposting pesannya, ataukah mengacu pada penghinaan / pencemaran nama baik?</p>
<p>Kalau konteksnya seperti ini, &#8220;bahwa saya dengan sengaja menggunakan hak saya untuk marah, kesal dan kecewa serta menyampaikannya melalui media Internet, tetapi saya sama sekali tidak punya niat untuk sengaja menyebabkan pihak lain merasa dihina atau dicemarkan nama baiknya&#8221;, masihkah pasal 27 ayat 3 UU ITE berhak menjerat saya?  Ataukah jangan-jangan pasal karet tersebut memang sebaiknya direvisi, atau paling ekstrimnya, dicabut saja? Yang terbaik untuk rakyat, itulah yang seharusnya dipikirkan dan dilakukan oleh pemerintah.</p>
<p>Opera van Internet</p>
<p>Kombinasi antara hilangnya sejumlah simbol komunikasi dalam komunikasi bermediasi komputer dengan keberadaan pasal 27 ayat 3 UU ITE tersebutlah yang menjadi inti pemicu dari Opera van Internet khas Indonesia ini. Opera yang memang menarik untuk diikuti beritanya, tetapi sangat mungkin dikemudian hari Andalah yang menjadi pemerannya. Jika episode Prita bisa ditutup manis dengan kisah setumpuk uang koin, maka bukan tidak mungkin di episode lain akan pemerannya akan berakhir di penjara.</p>
<p>Sementara ini yang terbaik adalah meminta para pihak untuk arif dalam menilai dan menyikapi persoalan yang ada. Tidak melulu setiap persoalan di ranah maya harus dihantam dengan pasal sapu jagat pada UU ITE tersebut.</p>
<p>Pun, para pelaku komunikasi di ranah maya, sebaiknya harus membiasakan diri untuk bersabar dan berpikir ulang dampak positif dan negatifnya bagi dirinya atau pihak lain sebelum memposting apapun di Internet. Sebab sekali terposting, maka pesan tersebut akan abadi selamanya di Internet. Maka pepatah China berikut ini bisa menjadi pegangan penutup, &#8220;jika Anda dapat bersabar dari 1 kemarahan, maka Anda akan lolos dari 100 hari penyesalan,&#8221;</p>
<p>Untuk itu saya mengajak kita semua yang merasa atau masih peduli dengan kebebasan berekspresi, berinformasi dan berpendapat di Internet, untuk bergabung menyuarakan opini dan aspirasi melalui grup “Ekspresi Online Bukan Kriminal” di Facebook.</p>

<p>Anyway, the latest case verdict is that Prita Mulyasari has to pay punitive damage with a mind-blowing sum of Rp 204 million or $20,400. We, the people, together form a group called &#8220;Koin Keadilan untuk Prita&#8221; or &#8220;Coin For Justice&#8221;, by collecting changes to help Prita pay her dues.</p>
<p>Until today, donation has flow to Prita&#8217;s pocket and the sum of donation reach near Rp 1 billion or $100,000, almost 5 times the punitive damage that she has to pay.</p>
<p>The people have spoken and they are screaming for the freedom of speech in this nation. The riddiculous UU ITE or Information &#38; Electronic Exchange law needs to be revised since it is a threat to the nation&#8217;s democracy practice in freedom of speech. I say a job well done for the people who participated and value the freedom of speech in the nation as the utmost priority.</p>
<p>Of course, after the support from every element of society regarding Prita&#8217;s case, Omni International Hospital, still wanting to save their name, caved in and held a press conference stating that they will withdraw from prosecuting Prita Mulyasari further. However, the thing is that this so-called organization didn&#8217;t apologize for their action in prosecuting Prita Mulyasari for her complaint over the internet. It&#8217;s as if they forgot that they were the group who put Prita into a traumatic situation where she was in jail for several weeks and can&#8217;t get the opportunity to see her family.</p>
<p>I say, if Omni International Hospital is really sorry, they have to apologize to the public for their excessive action for this kind mother. Today is Mother&#8217;s Day right? What more action it will fitting to regain the people&#8217;s trust by admitting that you have screwed up one person life and take advantage by gaining money out of it?</p>

Conducted by Mr Luthfi Mustafah over 4 sessions, the students get to experience and learn the techniques on drawing cartoon caricature while maintaining the likeness of the subjects. By the end of the 4 lesson, everyone got the chance to draw funny caricatures of everyone with amazing results while having good laughs.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><div><span style="font-size:x-small;">Wanted to talk about this for a long time now. It was the reason why I set up this blog actually. But writer&#8217;s block and procrastination led me to delay till now.</span></div>
<p><span style="font-size:x-small;">We tend to label people when we see them(me especially) for the first time. That&#8217;s why you have the saying impression counts. But as I have come to realise, that should not be the case. On the contrary, as you know the person more, you find that sometimes what you know of the person is the exact opposite. I always thought students who do not study well were not good students. Period. That was until I came to army and everything changed. Army is such a huge mixing pot filled with people bubbling from all walks of life. Being an instructor, I got to see a wider variety of people still. From the incredibly smart to the downright stupid; from the lazy to the hardworking; from those who have an attitude problem to those who try to get into your good books. And all these are not mutually exclusive either. That was when I realised my generalization of people was wrong.</p>

<p>I bet the first time you see Susan Boyle, most of you had the same expression as Simon.</p>
<p>What I have got to say is not new, people have been debating about it for some time now. Just because you study in ITE does not mean you are a failure, nor do studying in a JC means you are meant for great things. I put it down to the society&#8217;s narrow minded definition of success through your academic ability as well as the education system. You are considered the cream of the crop if you graduate from JC, a bright spark even, if you graduate from the brand name JCs; an ITE graduate is what people like to say,&#8221;It&#8217;s the end.&#8221;, while poly people are just people in between.</p>

<p>I disagree.</p>
<p>Just because you can study does not mean you are deemed a success in life or better than someone who is not. It simply forms part of your IQ, but your EQ plays a part too. And I feel that the EQ of a person is much more important; that is the part which decides how you are going to live out your life. Studying is but just a small side-job as you grow up and mature as a person. It does influence you but it is how you want to live out your life that will ultimately affect your life. Choose to succeed and you will overcome the challenges you face, no matter how tough or hard they are. Choose to fail and you will succeed in failure. We look to academic grades because it is so easy to quantify them, rather than non quantifiers like character or integrity(and even then we have subjects like civics and moral education). In Singapore, our education system is so efficient in sorting out the various groups that we have become accustomed to associating varying degrees of success with academic results.</p>

<p>But it is wrong! First of all, late bloomers lose out in such a system and they are disadvantaged right from the start because they carry with them this pre-formed notion of being &#8216;not smart enough&#8217; even before they have a chance of proving themselves. Secondly, people do not bother to change their mindsets because they are used to such a system of categorising. Old habits die hard. Lastly, there are few if not no interaction between people from different schooling systems. How many of you can say you have friends in ITE, poly and JC and meet up with them on a regular basis? Not many, I believe. The lack of interaction makes understanding each other more difficult, more often than not, resulting in conflicts and misunderstandings. That is why you get regular debates about this issue because we do not bother to look deeper beneath the surface.</p>
<p>Humans are a selfish lot; we want to make ourselves look better than others because it makes us look superior. So when we start noticing that people who can study tend to be more successful in life, we start labelling them, and those in these category would inevitably feel better and encourage it further. Conversely, those on the other schooling systems are labelled as not. So we start this hierachy system which stays on.</p>

<div><span style="font-size:x-small;">A poly or ITE student learns in a more hands on approach compared to a JC student&#8217;s theoretical approach in learning. More often than not, I feel that the latter suffers a disadvantage simply because you cannot apply what you learn to real life while the former can. Applying to real life is precisely what you should be doing, simply because erm, you are a living being. But we must realise that what everyone is learning is very different and hard to put comparisons to just like that. Hence, to put it that who is better or not is unjustifiable because we are comparing different things in the first place.</span></div>
<p><span style="font-size:x-small;">Frankly,I think I&#8217;m thinking too much over here. I will just express a conclusion using my gut feeling. I do not feel that ITE students are any smarter or stupider (is there even such a word?) than JC/Poly students. We are making different comparisons here altogether and to just based it on one finding, it is ultimately unfair for both parties. I have friends and relatives who are from the various systems, some even from all three. I have come to realise that it is the person that you interact with that you should based your judgement on, not just from his schools. I&#8217;m extremely grateful to have friends and relatives who are the way they are, making me reflect on how to live life as I want to be, not just how society has perceive them to be.</p>
<p>Final word: You are who you want to be, and no one can take that desire from you. So it is really up to you yourself to decide how much/hungry you want to be. Personally, I don&#8217;t think there is one absolute correct answer to such an question. There are so many factors involved, and with different people having experienced different systems, it is natural to have such an argument forming. In fact, as time passes by, each generation of people will form varying opinions of their own.</p>

<p>RS Omni Internasional bersiap untuk mencabut gugatan perdata terhadap Prita Mulyasari. Prita pun tidak perlu membayar denda kalah di gugatan perdata di tingkat banding senilai Rp 204 juta.</p>
<p>&#8220;Prinsipnya kita sudah mempelajari draft perdamaian dari Depkes, dan kita setuju. Isi draft perdamaian itu hakekatnya saling menghargai dan memaafkan,&#8221; jelas juru bicara RS Omni Internasional Ronald melalui telepon, Rabu (9/12/2009).</p>
<p>Bila Prita juga setuju, draft perdamaian akan dibawa ke Pengadilan Tinggi. &#8220;Kita siap untuk mencabut gugatan dan membebaskan dari ganti rugi,&#8221; imbuhnya.</p>
<p>Kemudian dari klausul perdata ini akan dibawa ke Pengadilan Negeri yang menangani pidana untuk sebagai bahan pertimbangan, mengingat Prita saat ini tengah menjalani proses hukum.</p>
<p>&#8220;Prita belum ada reaksi, tapi pengacaranya malah datang dan menambahkan klausul agar dicabut pidana,&#8221; terangnya.</p>
<p>Bagaimana dengan kondisi Prita yang pernah menjalani masa penahanan di LP Tangerang karena aduan RS Omni?</p>
<p>&#8220;Tidak ada ganti rugi, karena pada prinsipnya sejak awal sebelum lapor polisi sudah menawarkan perdamaian dan saat itu sudah negosiasi dengan pengacara Prita, tapi karena tidak ada titik temu ya karena ini negara hukum kita lanjutkan kepada proses hukum,&#8221; terangnya.</p>

<p>Dukungan bagi Prita Mulyasari belum surut. Seperti diketahui, proses perdata antara Prita Mulyasari dengan RS Omni Internasional sudah diputus. Di tingkat Pengadilan Negeri Tangerang, Prita divonis membayar denda Rp 312 juta.</p>
<p>Vonis itu diterimanya sebelum ia mendekam di Lembaga Pemasyarakatan Wanita Tangerang pada Mei 2009. Atas putusan tingkat pertama itu, Prita lalu mengajukan banding ke Pengadilan Tinggi Banten.</p>
<p>Hasilnya, Prita kembali diposisikan sebagai pihak yang kalah dengan diwajibkan membayar denda Rp 204 juta. Meski nilai denda turun sekitar Rp 100 juta, Prita tetap pada posisi kalah.</p>
<p>Terkait vonis itu, masyarakat melakukan gerakan mengumpulkan koin untuk membantu Prita. Tercatat, beberapa tokoh juga memberikan bantuan kepada Prita.</p>
<p>Aksi Koin Peduli Prita merupakan bentuk protes masyarakat terhadap vonis pengadilan terhadap Prita Mulyasari. Protes itu menunjukkan buruknya pengadilan di Indonesia.</p>
<p>Demikian disampaikan oleh Ketua Komisi Nasional Hak Asasi Manusia (Komnas HAM), Ifdhal Kasim di Jakarta, Selasa 8 Desember 2009. &#8220;Bentuk protes ini mempermalukan pengadilan kita,&#8221; kata dia. .(dari berbagai sumber)</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p> Acaban de darse a conocer,  a falta de publicación en el BOE, los resultados de la convocatoria del presente año 2009 de los premios a Materiales Educativos convocados por el Ministerios de Educación a través del ITE (anteriormente denominado ISFTIC y CNICE).</p>

<p>En las diferentes convocatorias que vienen desarrollándose desde la primera convocatoria en 1985 con el objetivo de fomentar el desarrollo de materiales educativos multimedia que puedan ser empleados a través de la red se ha ido realizando una recopilación de materiales caracterizados por su diversidad, tanto de materias como de niveles, a la que podemos acceder en este <a href="http://www.ite.educacion.es/w3/novedades/informaciones/premios2009.htm">enlace</a>.</p>
<p>En la presente convocatoria se establecían nuevas modalidades de participación, además de la clásica modalidad de Recursos multimedia interactivos, se presentaban la modalidad II de blogs educativos y la modalidad III de Webquests educativas.</p>

<title><![CDATA[Creación de presentaciones efectivas]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>&#8220;<em>De repente, entra el conferenciante, se hace el silencio en la sala y empieza la presentación. Al mismo tiempo que va introduciendo la materia, aparece la portada de la ponencia en pantalla. Posteriormente va mostrando el resto de diapositivas de su presentación. Todas ellas tienen algo en común: una gran cantidad de texto y pocos elementos visuales.</em></p>
<p><em>Nuestro orador se limita a leer el texto de cada diapositiva, añadiendo algunos detalles para cada uno de los puntos que trata. Está más tiempo mirando la pantalla que al público y balbucea un poco cuando habla. Pasa a la siguiente diapositiva y os desanimáis al ver todo lo que tiene que explicaros. Leéis todo el texto mucho antes de que él pueda recitarlo. Poco a poco vuestras expectativas van reduciéndose cada vez más.</em></p>
<p><em>Los escasos elementos visuales que aparecen son pequeñas imágenes prediseñadas (“</em><em>clipart”) y gráficos con tal cantidad de información que difícilmente podéis distinguir los datos importantes en pantalla.</em></p>
<p><em>Al cabo de un rato os dais cuenta de que ya estáis mirando el reloj y tan sólo han pasado veinte minutos desde que comenzó la presentación: os estáis aburriendo a pesar de que el tema os interesa.</em>&#8220;</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p><strong></strong>La Inspección Técnica de Edificios (ITE) puede servir para detectar fallos estructurales en los inmuebles con deficiencias, por lo que el ayuntamiento de Palma recomienda a los ciudadanos que realicen la ITE al margen de la antigüedad de sus viviendas si presentan alguna deficiencia, consejo que hizo extensiva a los edificios sin problemas, como modo de prevención.<br />
Así lo aseguró ayer a DIARIO de MALLORCA la jefa de Servicio de la ITE en Cort, Cati Frau, quien explicó: &#8220;Una inspección técnica, que se hace de manera ocular, puede detectar indicios de la existencia de patologías en la estructura de un edificio, como por ejemplo una grieta en la parte inferior de un muro. En ese caso se procederá a hacer una cata, que podría consistir en levantar las baldosas, por ejemplo, para revisar la cimentación&#8221;.<br />
No obstante, aclaró: &#8220;Una inspección técnica no está pensada para ponerse a romper suelos y paredes, y una cata sólo se realizará en casos como el descrito&#8221;. Otro ejemplo que dio sobre este punto fue el siguiente: &#8220;También se puede llegar a realizar una cata si, por ejemplo, se detectan grietas o fisuras en un falso techo. En ese caso, se tendría que abrir un agujero en el mismo para poder inspeccionar las vigas&#8221;.<br />
La ITE prevé la inspección de la cubierta, la fachada y sus elementos (como balcones, barandillas, cornisas, etc.) y la estructura de los edificios, ya sean bloques de pisos, viviendas unifamiliares, hoteles, iglesias, comercios o naves industriales. La especialista puntualizó que los elementos estructurales son tanto muros de carga como pilares, vigas maestras y forjados. &#8220;Por eso, una cosa muy importante que conviene recordar a los ciudadanos es que estén pendientes de las humedades que detecten en sus viviendas, porque éstas pueden afectar, y mucho, a las estructuras&#8221;, aseguró Frau.</p>
<p>Arreglar las humedades</p>
<p>En el caso de las filtraciones de agua, la jefa de Servicios de la ITE en Cort recomienda &#8220;arreglar las humedades cuando son pequeñas; hay que darles importancia, y no conviene dejar que se agranden porque pueden pudrir tanto las vigas de madera como las de hormigón&#8221;. Incidió en este sentido en que &#8220;una humedad puede, incluso, provocar la expansión del hierro de las vigas de hormigón y hacer que éstas revienten&#8221;. Para Cati Frau, &#8220;la gente no tiene en cuenta las humedades, pese a que es muy fácil taparlas cuando éstas con pequeñas&#8221;.<br />

<p>There is more evidence that the culture and traditions of the Muslim community in the Western world is being targeted unlike any culture has since the freeing of the slaves in America. A lot of cultures choose to wear their traditional garb, and in our melting pot society, they are a testament to the diversity that we enjoy and celebrate here in the western world.</p>
<p>Many cultures freely wear traditional or religious garb,such  as in my community, we enjoy the presence of Tibetan Monks, Hasidic Jews, and expatriated citizens of the Sudan. Hindu&#8217;s and Persian&#8217;s wear their traditional headdress and clothing, and others enjoy wearing their cultural wear and face paint as well.</p>
<p>It is natural to be curious of a new culture, if you have never seen that community in person, I will admit, that is human nature. It is the vilification and demonizing of other&#8217;s traditions that is unusual.</p>
<p>When I worked in India, I was an anomaly there, because I was in western clothing. People would stare, and several had questions for me about my culture,but they were all very respectful, and nice. That was a great feeling.</p>
<p>In an educated society, it is an assumption that people would be more accepting of all the differences that exist in the citizens of the world.It is unreasonable and naive for Americans to measure all other cultures and traditions based on our perception of our own traditions.I do not think we are the measuring stick for people around the world.</p>
<p>Some call it Eurocentric, and I would have to concur.</p>
<p>The nations of the world acquiesce to our arrogance, and they educate their children and the population to be aware of how to speak the english language.</p>
<p>The only downfall there, is that education is not available to everyone in most countries. If you are not wealthy, then most education in other societies teach impoverished children how to read from their religious documents, like the Koran, and other such Bible&#8217;s.</p>
<p>That happens because education is provided to the poor by the church&#8217;s or religious organizations.</p>
<p>I think it is unfair to discriminate or demand someone adjust their religious beliefs to blend in to the western traditions, unless they choose to. I am aware that we have religious freedom here in the United States.Given than that, then we should treat all religious and cultures fairly, including Muslims, obviously.</p>
<p>I wonder if Hasidic people of the Jewish faith receive the kind of discrimination that Latifa Aimaq, an Arlington citizen got when she went to shop at a local market. They kicked her out of the store for wearing a Burkha, which is the traditional public garb for a muslim women, as is a condition of her faith.</p>
<p>If they do, then that too, is despicable.</p>
<p>The following report of the situation is as follows&#8230;</p>
<p>The Cooper Street Farmers Market sits in a highly diversified community in central Arlington — a tossed salad of cultures, colors and accents.</p>
<p>But when Latifa Aimaq went into the market, she found trouble from the proprietor.</p>
<p>Aimaq covers all but her eyes and hands in when in public, but signs posted in the market say faces must be visible at all times while shopping inside the market.</p>
<p>The store manager, Chris Perez, demanded she uncover her face, or he would have to ask he to leave the store. When she refused, manager Perez did in fact unceremoniously kick her out.</p>
<p>&#8220;He was very intimidating. He began to yell: &#8216;Get out! Get out! Get out! We don&#8217;t allow people with a face veil in here!&#8217;&#8221;</p>
<p>He definitely did not act like a gentleman in this case, and for that he should apologize.</p>
<p>Mr Perez explained in his defense,&#8230;&#8221;I tried to explain to her it&#8217;s for our safety and the safety of our customers,&#8221;..</p>
<p>He further went on to explain that women in full veil rarely come in, and usually when they do, they discreetly show their faces to his mother. But Perez said there were no women working the day Latifa Aimaq came in.</p>
<p>There is a heavy population of Muslim that live in the area, and who also frequent his establishment regularly, so this issue is nothing new to the store management or the customers.</p>
<p>&#8220;We don&#8217;t discriminate, period — based on race, religion, color, or any other thing,&#8221; Perez maintained.</p>
<p>Muslims account for 40 to 50 percent of his customer base, he stated.How this situation escalated to a screaming match is simply unprofessional.</p>
<p>In an interview with WFAA-TV in Richmond, Latifa Aimaq said that she is urging Muslims and others to boycott the store. She said she has never encountered hostility at an airport, bank or the department of motor vehicles, where she does discreetly reveal her face when the law requires.</p>
<p>She said she chose to begin to fully cover three years ago because she wanted to be more modest.</p>

<p>&#8220;I began to cover fully three years ago,&#8221; she said. &#8220;It&#8217;s not mandatory to cover your face, but it&#8217;s highly recommended.&#8221;</p>
<p>Aimaq is an English teacher at an Islamic school and says she covers for modesty.</p>
<p>Chris Perez says he wants to honor her beliefs and customs if she will honor his store rules.</p>
<p>I believe that these two intelligent people will be able to come to an agreement, or simply agree to disagree. If the store manager is not in violation of any Civil Rights laws, then he has an argument in his favor.</p>
<p>If Mrs Aimaq is not satisfied with the status quo, then she would be in her right to view this as a policy that should be unacceptable in our country, much like Rosa Park&#8217;s did when she defied state sanctioned  Jim Crow laws and refused to give up her seat to a healthy white man, and go to the back of the bus&#8230;</p>
<p>Rosa Park&#8217;s went against the law at that time, and Martin Luther King, Jr. organized a boycott and strike, and the State relented, and the laws were changed, as well as the hearts and minds of the people.</p>
<p>I applaud Mrs Aimaq in her efforts to bring light to this discrimination against her, and her traditions, which could be detrimental to any business, and needs to be changed, in a way that works for all parties, in a respectable manner.</p>

Padahal UU yang sudah muncul sejak tahun 2004 ini tadinya seakan-akan hanya sebagai tulisan diatas kertas saja. UU yang kurang lebih diantaranya mengatur cara mengemukakan pendapat di dunia maya ini membatasi kebebasan para blogger dalam berpendapat. Jangan sampai gara-gara hal sepele ada pihak yang merasa tersinggung atau bahkan dirugikan oleh artikel yang ditulis pada blog. Antisipasi hal tersebut, lebih baik artikel-artikel yang sudah terbit disunting ulang jika didalamnya terdapat hal yang mengunggulkan suatu produk atau layanan diatas produk atau layanan lainnya. Atau malah berisi kejelekkan suatu produk atau layanan dikarenakan ketidak puasan saat menggunakan produk atau layanan tersebut.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>Plazo de preinscripción</strong><br />
Desde las 12:00 horas del <strong>1 de Septiembre</strong> de 2009 <strong>hasta </strong>las 14:00 horas del <strong>15 de septiembre </strong>de 2009.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>Lista de admitidos</strong><br />
El ITE publicará en su web la lista de admitidos el día <strong>30 de  septiembre</strong> de 2009 a  partir de las <strong>12:00</strong> horas.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>Admisión</strong><br />
La admisión de los participantes se efectuará por el ITE atendiendo como criterio principal al orden de preinscripción. En el caso de haberse inscrito en más de un curso se dará prioridad al curso de nivel más básico. Si se trata de algún curso de conocimiento específico como DESCARTES, MALTED, ARQUEOLOGÍA, etc. se dará prioridad al profesor de las materias que guarden estrecha relación con estos cursos.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>He is nineteen and flipping lecture notes at the Institute of Technical Education (ITE). His friends are all scattered in either the funky Polytechnic or nerdy Junior College. When questioned if he wants to join a class reunion, he rejected the offer with his head bowed down. The reason? </p>
<p>According to his dad, he was mortified about his academic status as an ITE student. He was worried that he might have lagged abaft of his other friends. He thought he had failed to live up to his expectations for a higher qualification, thus a &#8216;better future&#8217; in life. Most importantly, he was afraid to be described as a hoddypeak by his circle of friends. </p>
<p>His story reminds me of the social discrimination against lower educated Singaporeans in the past. Previously, ITE students are looked down upon by members of the public but things have changed now. Even MM Lee Kuan Yew mentioned that ITE is one of Singapore&#8217;s success stories.</p>
<p>While the society may have generally altered its views towards ITE undergraduates, the student themselves are still living with low self-esteem. They feel that they do not have a place in this society which emphasizes so much on academics. Things are getting worse now that erudite foreigners swarming into Singapore.</p>
<p>In my opinion, each and every of us have our own hidden talents. However, it is unfortunate that Singapore is not the place where we can use those<em> (if not most of the)</em> talents for a living. Nonetheless, it is still not an excuse to be ashamed of yourself just because you are less academically inclined.</p>
<p>The embarrassed ITE boy has a burning passion in music and the performing arts. It may have stepped in the way of his pursuit for a higher education. After all, he spends a lot of time perfecting his strums and vocals.</p>
<p>Being in a Polytechnic or Junior College does not guarantee you a brighter future in life. A good high-paying job does not come rolling to you once you graduate from a University. There are degree holders who ended up as waiters and some even taxi drivers. Things are more challenging than it seems.</p>
<p>Once, a friend of mine shared about his acceptance in a local University. The rest of my buddies cheered and named him &#8216;the smarty one&#8217;. However, instead of boasting about his new title, he told us that the truly the smart one is whoever who manages to find a stable job and lead a happy family.</p>
<p>The embarrassed ITE boy should not be ashamed of himself anymore. Instead, he should start working on a plan. A plan which allows him to consistently upgrade himself for his future. A plan which utilizes his talent later on in life. A plan which ultimately provides the happiness everyone aspires to get.</p>

Dengan disahkannya UU ITE maka semua transaksi elektronik di negara kita kini telah memiliki landasan yang jelas.<br />
UU ITE kini menjadi payung hukum tentang Informasi dan dan transaksi elektronik di Indonesia, selain itu UU ITE juga mencakup soal konten dan sanksi terhadap cybercrime yang kini mulai marak terjadi di Indonesia. Dengan adanya UU ITE di Indonesia, maka kini dokument elektronik maupun salinannya bisa menjadi alat bukti di pengadilan.</p>

<p>UU ITE alias Undang-undang Informasi dan Transaksi Elektronik adalah Undang-undang cyber pertama yang dimiliki oleh Indonesia yang baru –baru ini (25 Maret 2008 lalu) disahkan oleh DPR. Dengan disahkannya UU ITE maka semua transaksi elektronik di negara kita kini telah memiliki landasan yang jelas.<br />
UU ITE kini menjadi payung hukum tentang Informasi dan dan transaksi elektronik di Indonesia, selain itu UU ITE juga mencakup soal konten dan sanksi terhadap cybercrime yang kini mulai marak terjadi di Indonesia. Dengan adanya UU ITE di Indonesia, maka kini dokument elektronik maupun salinannya bisa menjadi alat bukti di pengadilan.<br />
Hal yang menarik didalam undang-undang ini, salah satu pasalnya mengancam para penyebar pornografi dengan denda hingga 1 milyar rupiah.<br />
Dalam BAB VII Pasal 27 ayat 1 UU ITE disebutkan “Setiap orang dengan sengaja dan tanpa hak mendistribusikan dan /atau mentransmisikan dan /atau membuat dapat diaksesnya informasi elektronik dan /atau dokumen elektronik yang memiliki muatan yang melanggar kesusilaan” Kemudian pada BAB XI, Ketentuan Pidana, pasal 45 ayat 1 terdapat aturan yang berbunyi “Setiap orang yang memenuhi unsur sebagaimana dimaksud dalam pasal 27 ayat (1), ayat (2), ayat (3) atau ayat (4) dipidana dengan pidana paling lama 6 (enam) tahun dan /atau denda paling banyak Rp. 1.000.000.000 (satu milyar rupiah)”<br />
Salah satu langkah nyata yang kini bakal dilakukan oleh pemerintah Indonesia dalam rangka implementasi UU ITE ini adalah rencana memblokir situs-situs porno yang akan dilakukan mulai awal April. Ini merupakan sebuah langkah yang memang seharusnya dilakukan oleh pemerintah sejak dari dulu, apalagi bila mengingat dengan upaya pemerintah untuk menggalakkan internet di lingkungan sekolah (school net), maka akses ke situs-situs pornografi memang seharusnya dibatasi. Karena jika tidak, murid-murid sekolah bukan hanya akan melek internet tapi juga bakal bebas mengakses konten-konten pornografi.</p>
