It’s a Boy Girl Thing adalah sebuah film komedi romantic yang bercerita tentang dua tetangga yang hidup dengan kebiasaan yang sangat berbeda. Woody Deane (Kevin Zegers) dan Nell Bedworth (Samaire Hampsire) adalah dua orang yang tumbuh dengan perasaan saling memusuhi hingga pada suatu hari mereka berdua terbangun di dunia yang aneh. Mereka berdua terbangun dengan tubuh yang berbeda dan dengan identitas yang ikut berubah juga. Woody berada di tubuh Nell, dan Nell pun berada di tubuh Woody. Mereka berdua memutuskan untuk saling mengahuncarkan identitas masing – masing. Tetapi ketika mereka mencoba untuk sukses di kehidupan mereka yang semestinya, merekapun akhirnya bekerja sama. Hingga akhirnya mereka pun saling jatuh cinta, dan terbangun dengan tubuh asli mereka.

Menurut gw film ini lucu sekaligus ada bagian yang mengharukan. Melihat tingkah laku mereka berdua yang konyol pastinya akan membuat kalian tertawa. Jadi gak bakal nyesel buat ditonton..

Well after a disturbingly depressing few weeks FilmWipe365 is back with a bang.  My illness has gone (again I have not got VD as several people emailed so don’t worry you will not got a bout of te clap from reading this). If I had planned this better I would have reviewed the Korean film The Presidents Last Bang, however, I am lazy and heading to morbid obesity and didn’t think of this incredibly funny joke early enough.  I feel slightly ashamed to come back with this film.  It is like Robbie Williams 2007 return Rudebox – the first album in music history that made people want to get syphilis in their ears.  What makes the film worst is not the fact that you have to read another excruciatingly long review about how much I hated watching it, nor that I wish everyone involved with the film a short and painful career.  It is instead the fact that I was actually excited about watching it and instead had my hopes crushed much like David Furnish when he thought It’s a Boy Girl Thing would stop him from having to spounge off his sugar daddy Elton John.  Rudo y Cursi – the mainstream vehicle for Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal  – is frankly the weakest film I have had the misforune to watch for sometime and actually left me begging to watch films of the quality of the Break up and Eight Legged Freaks.

The film follows the brothers nicknamed Rudo (Diego Luna) and Cursi (Gael Garcia Bernal) on their journey from the bannana plantations in rural Mexico to super stardom playing football for two of the nations biggest teams.  It all kicks off for them when Batuta (a soccer scout) breaks down near their town.  After helping to fix his car the brothers compete against one another to get him to represent them.  Cursi wins and leaves their provincial home for Mexico City.  He is a big success and finishes as top scorer in his first season, which gives him the opportunity to follow his real passion, music.   Rudo has it a bit tougher.  Several months after Cursi, Batuta gives Rudo an opportunity with a rubbish team.  He leaves his wife and children to follow his dream.  After stuggling to get a place in the team in his first season he fortunately finds himself in the top flight. The second season in football contrasts hugely for the pair.  Cursi has lost form due to his relationship with a tv star and is on the verge of being sent to a lower division club.  Rudo, is close to becoming the best goal keeper in the history of the league.  However, his gambling addiction has left him owing money to some dangerous criminals and in the game against Cursi’s team he is asked to throw the game.  He is left with the dilema of following his dream or doing what he is told.

Well after what is possibly the longest description of a film in review history, I will get down to business (I can hear the sense of relief).  Until Cursi leaves for Mexico the film is desperately dull. The film offers very little about the depressing poverty that the pair grow up in. In some ways this is good, however there is hardly anything interesting.  And when you do get a flash of something interesting you’re so bored that you struggle to notice it (such as the abuse by her boyfriend of the pairs mother).  Cursi on his own in Mexico city is abut as exciting as staring at a beie wll for 15 hours.  It is so difficult to stay awake only repeated attempts at self harm will stop you from seeing most of the film with your eyes closed. 

Personally the most excruciating aspect of the film is Rudo’s gambling addiction.  From about 2 minutes into him arriving in Mexico city you quickly guess where the story is going.  It takes about 40 minutes to get to the point that you had magically predicted.  It is so painful to watch that cutting off my penis, cooking it on an open fire and then sharing it with a small Mongolian family as I slowly bleed to death seems a tempting alternative.  There is nothing I  loath more than being able to predict what is going to happen.

If I had my way Radovan Karadžićy would not be the only one in the Hague waiting to serve trial for crimes against humanity.  Director Carlos Cauron deserves to be sentenced to a life punishment for what he has done to cinema.  Technically the film is ok.  However, as the boy genius who wrote and directed this horror show he takes full credit for the misery he has brought on the world.  The script is terrible.  Even his mum would struggle to tell him that this was any good.  The dialogue between characters is so turgid it makes watching paint dry genuinely seem quite exiting.  His direction does little to excite the senses.  Worst of all he manages to make two excellent actors seem like David Arquette.  This is quite a skill as David Arquette is so bad that even genital crabs seem like Oscar nominated actors in comparison to him.

Overall this should be avoided at all costs.  Even football thugs will be bored as you only see about 1 minute of football.  Save money and do something else.

É eu sei, eu vi esse filme. Em pleno domingo e sozinha em casa, cansada da rotina e das coisas de sempre, fui mudando de canal. Vi que esse filme ia começar, então esperei para ver. E vi até o final.

É uma comédia romântica direcionada para adolescentes, onde o casal principal troca de lugar. Temos uma versão brasileira disso no ‘E se eu fosse você’, interpretada por Glória Pires e Tony Ramos. Enfim.. A história retrata a vida de dois vizinhos: Nell {Samaire Armstrong}, uma menina estudiosa, inteligente, comportada e de classe média-alta; já Woody {Kevin Zegers} é um atleta, popular na escola, e de uma família mais humilde. Não era para menos que eles começam o filme brigando por qualquer coisa, até que uma “magia” acontece e ele encarna no corpo de Nell , e vice-versa. E a partir disso acontece coisas tradicionais para filmes de comédia romântica.

No fim do filme me perguntei porque filmes desse gênero de repente se tornaram tão comuns, conquistando milhares de adolescentes e sempre com histórias e temáticas semelhantes. Em um certo ponto de vista filmes assim sempre existiram, tais como podemos relembrar o ‘Grease’ e que, desde então apenas contextualizam o enredo para as jovens do mundo pós-moderno. Embora um seja musical e o outro não, a história retratada ainda permanece basicamente a mesma. A mocinha comportada {Em ‘Coisas de meninos e meninas’ é a personagem Nell; Em ‘Grease’ é a Sandy} que rompe com o malandro {‘Coisas de meninos e meninas’ é representado como Woody; já em ‘Grease’ é o Danny}, e que depois, por sua vez, tenta reconquistá-la. Pronto: final feliz!

Acontece que filmes desses gêneros são sempre um apelativo emocional para, principalmente, as jovens adolescentes que se encantam com o malandro. Não é sempre o que as meninas dizem? Que não acreditam como foram gostar do ‘cara’ errado e coisas parecidas? Pois bem. Então há um certo grau em que elas se identificam com a história, se emocionam e as fazem sonhar com um final feliz para elas também. Afinal, geralmente é na fase escolar que a idealização por um grande amor se torna ainda mais forte, por questões de hormônios e sentimentos joviais à flor da pele.

E isso não é uma coisa que existe somente agora, mulheres e meninas sempre tiveram isso. O que ocorre é que agora há uma maior liberdade para se apaixonar por outras pessoas do que antigamente, embora muitos ainda tenham preconceito por outras classes e religiões. Isso é um dos fatores pelos quais esses romantismos ainda são tocantes. É uma versão Romeu e Julieta mais sutil, mas que encontramos por aí e implica com a vida de muitos, ainda que por ora seja silenciosa {ou seja, não ouvimos muitas pessoas comentarem}. E a comédia está no filme para isso. Para os cinéfilos não “perceberem” a seriedade que essa história pode chegar, para as jovens sonharem e verem {e viverem} o lado bom desses problemas {pois não comentam que o que é proibido é melhor?}, e para os pais/responsáveis não se sentirem ofendidos por essas proibições que impõem.

Igår så såg jag två high schoolfilmer, den ena sög balle och den andra var faktiskt helt okej. Jag hade visserligen inga förväntningar alls om filmerna, eftersom jag inte hade hört ett jota om dem innan. Jag tillhör dem som anser att highschoolgenren var bäst på 80-talet. Men men, jag ska ge er en liten kort recension av filmerna:

Den första jag såg var ‘The House Bunny‘ (2008) och oj vad dålig den var. Filmen handlar om en playmate spelad av Anna Faris (hon som är med i ALLA Scary Moviefilmerna). Efter att ha fått ett falskt brev om att hon nu är för gammal för att bo i Playboymansion, beger hon sig ut efter ett nytt hem. Detta leder till att hon hamnar på ett elevhem bestående av bara flicknördar. Såklart gör hon allt för att nördarna ska bli populära samt att de tillsammans måste rädda huset från att inte läggas ned.

Filmen sög något fruktansvärt, speciellt då Faris som inte kan agera för fem öre. Andra “kändisar” i filmen som man kunde se var kändisbarnen Colin Hanks och Rumer Willis. Sen dök visserligen puman Beverly D’Angelo upp – men det hjälpte inget alls!

Se hellre: Deltagänget (1978) eller Can’t buy me Love (1987)

Bättre var då filmen ‘It’s a boy girl thing‘ (2006). Filmen handlar om två ungdomar som inte gillar varandra och som bor grannar.
Såklart är det en kille (Kevin Zegers) som är tuff och en tjej (Samaire Armstrong) som är nördig. Men en dag åker deras klass till ett museum där en magisk staty gör så att de byter kroppar med varandra. Detta orsakar såklart en hel del problem för de båda och eftersom de inte gillar varandra (först) så förstör de gärna för den andre. Visst har vi sett det förr, men den här filmen lyckas ändå göra något bra av det hela.
En feelgoodfilm alltså.

I just watched this on Star Movies (I’m making this review MINUTES after the movie ended) tonight and I have to say, I am very touched as how the movie was done.

Here I was, thinking that this movie is just another Freaky Friday-like movie but boy, was I wrong. This is WAAAAAY better than FF IMO. It not only explores the different views of the opposite sex but also their insecurities, their dreams, and their troubles in an outside the house.

There are PLENTY of moments in the movie wherein I kinda made a grab for a pillow because of the excitement it brings xD Like when the male character (the woman is trapped inside) gets stuck in a room full of naked guys or the girl character (the guy is trapped) tries to sleep with this guy for revenge but ends up realizing it was gay! xD

Lots of laughs really, It started a bit slow and dull at first, but along the second 10 minutes of the film, it just grabbed my eyeballs from their sockets! haha 

The fun starts when they try to emulate each other’s attitudes: girl tries to be a boy and boy tries to be a girl. REALLY awesome! Its like the battle of the sexes in a whole new way! This also delves in on what men would do if they had the chance to be in a woman’s body. Like go to the showers and see naked women and not get bitch slapped! xD

There are lots of memorable quotes for this movie, but I failed to search for the really good ones! The ones that made me like this movie since those quotes are really well written in a very romantic manner. And its supposed to be a love/comedy! 

The OST for this movie is really good too. Very sweet for some and very “Parteh!” for others!

I guess people who are young often relates to these kind of movies easily. Well I liked it! haha, I guess I’m still young!

PPS: This is one those movies wherein it makes you want to have a life JUST LIKE THEY DO in this one. You know, typical boy who knows nothing about the world except money and fame which suddenly gets a different view in life all thanks to a girl whom he hates and hates him back  

FUN FUN MOVIE! 4 STARS OUT OF 5!

Before I begin, I should give my Man Card to Seth because I know he would ask for it after reading this so here you go Seth.  *gives Man Card*  Don’t go too far because I will need that back in a bit.

So.

I love movies.  I love many movies and there only a few that I can honestly say that I don’t like.  White Chicks comes to mind, that movie was so stupid but it had it moments, no it was just stupid, sorry to those who liked it, not my humor I guess.  Where did this come from you might wonder?

Well insomnia has me awake again and I can’t sleep so I figured I will try to do something a little productive with my time so I am here to write about my love for movies.  Seeing as I gave up my Man Card early on, this is not going to be about shoot’em up, crashes and explosion type movies with ample tits and ass.  Even though I enjoy those movies and have seen many of them, I can’t ignore those other movies that I tend to end up watching at 3 o’clock in the morning.  Like this movie for instance.

I didn’t catch it from the beginning but it was interesting enough for me to keep watching and before you knew it, I am writing this blog as the credits roll.  Maybe it is that I watched that Martin Lawrence movie earlier, “Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins” and at the heart of that movie is a father and son relationship.  I miss my Dad.  Some days more than others and tonight, I just couldn’t help but be in a nostalgic mood.

My Father instilled in me a love for movies and something that I know has been passed on from him to me on down to my sons.  It is a game almost where we watch movies and I point out to them actors that they may recognize from other movies.  Now they are doing it for me.  We were watching the new Star Trek trailer and they both thought they recognized one of the actors from the new Wolverine movie that we got to see the other weekend.  I love that.  =)

Excuse me.  *punches Seth and takes back Man Card*  Sorry Milla Jovovich and the beginning of Resident Evil: Extinction just caught my eye.  =)  Damn is she hot.  Hey!  Ali Larter is in this one too.  LOL  *gives back Man card*

So as I was saying, I love movies and with my insomnia I find that there are some really great movies out there that don’t get the full Hype Machine Treatment and I guess that is okay because they become gems for me to find.  Like that movie I linked to earlier.  It is one of those Body Switch Comedies, you know’em you love them.  This one was a bit different.

It wasn’t exactly like the Jimmy Smits/Elen Barkin movie aptly named “Switch” but it was essentially the same.  Male in a female body but this one had both the male and female.  Boy and girl, neighbors, always at odds with each other happen to switch bodies and find love at the end.

What I enjoyed about it and all other boy meets girl movies is that no matter what situation the two people are put in, I know that it is scripted for a happy ending where the two that we know are meant to be together end up together.  Assholes and lady assholes get the shaft or their asses exposed in public, same ol same ol right?  Of course.  It was scripted that way.

I guess watching Roscoe Jenkins earlier just put me in a mood to want to enjoy a movie and get into it, to allow myself to be immersed and enjoy the characters for what they are meant to be.  They (The Jenkins Family) are just that, a Family.  I enjoyed the movie, I enjoyed the characters.  I love how I can watch a movie and then see the same actor in another movie.  Let’s see if you movie buffs can identify the actor that was in both “Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins” and “Resident Evil: Extinction” then for fun tie him to Kevin Bacon.  =)  He usually has some great supporting roles.

So I was in the mood to watch a movie and I was surprised at how easy it was for me to get immersed into what can be considered a chick flick.  C’mon, most boy meets girl movies are considered chick flicks and I do tend to watch them in the middle of the night when I feel like watching a movie.

I started this with a thought in mind but it really is just another opportunity for me to write.  I have been wanting to get into a routine of writing something everyday and for the most part I have been able to but I think I had meant that to be in one place for one purpose.  I would love to be called a novelist but I haven’t found my niche.

I can write comedy but I am not always the funniest person.  I know I can write romances but I don’t think I can keep it a romance novel.  I can write horror and at one time wrote what started out as a romance (short story) but ended up with a severed hand.  Maybe I can write all three, a romantic horror with comedic undertones.  *shrugs*

Hmm, that does sound interesting.  I guess I could write a novel that I know could be a movie.  A movie that I would want to watch with my buddies.  Or something that I can watch by myself in the middle of the night.  I think I have exhausted my creative juices for now so I will look now to take back what is mine.

Seth knowing what is coming tries to give back my Man Card but it is too late.  He winces as a fist flies through the air and hits him square in the arm.  =)  I wished Ashanti had more of a role in this movie that I am watching right now (RE: Extinction) but I guess I can easily put on a DVD and watch her performance in “John Tucker Must Die”.  No I can watch Ali Larter and Milla for a while and then maybe I will jump into some Resident Evil 5 for some Versus mode.

In contemporary media, one can find multiple occurrences of overnight biological transmutation or similarily, body swapping. Growing up, when I browsed through the shelves of my local library, I’d often see titles like, “Help! I’m Stuck In a Professional Wrestler’s Body!”. Or more recently, movies like “Freaky Friday” and “It’s a Boy Girl Thing”, toy with the idea of waking up to a different body.

In the early morning hours, as I was watching “It’s a Boy Girl Thing” with several friends, I noticed the multiple parallels and differences between the movie and “Metamorphosis”. “It’s a Boy Girl Thing” is a romantic comedy depicting two teenagers, Woody and Nell, who wake up in each others bodies after a museum trip. Since they were children, they have always fought with each other and consider the other his or her mortal enemy. They despise each other due to societal implications and the lack of understanding for each other. Woody is the stereotypical jock in school; he loves playing football, but his academics are not stellar. Nell, however, is an introvert and prude, with a passion for art and poetry, and she aspires to be accepted into Yale University.

When Gregor Samsa wakes up from his “uneasy dreams”, and finds himself transformed into a giant insect, his reactions are far different than how someone would typically act if they had ever waken up in a colossal insect body. Instead of worrying about how to transform himself back to his original body, Gregor worries about work and supporting his family. When Nell and Woody wake up in each others bodies, they scream in disbelief at their new body parts, rush to the window, see each other, and proceed to scream more.

Although Nell and Woody’s reactions are quite different from Gregor, the bodily changes produce a similar effect: they serve to be a catalyst for understanding, and realization. Throughout “Metamorphosis”, the familial interactions allow Gregor to see how he proves to be a obstacle for his family once he is unable to provide for his family. From his father pelting him with apples, to his sister’s frustrated venting, Gregor realizes that he is a detriment to his family’s well-being, and that it is better for him to break free of his oppressive bonds. The metamorphosis of Gregor also allows his family to understand that they are in fact, able to cope with life’s economic demands without relying solely on Gregor, and that their future prospects aren’t as bleak as it first seemed.

In “It’s a Boy Girl Thing”, Nell and Woody learn more about each other lives, and eventually develop a romantic relationship with each other. Woody teaches Nell to break free of her introversion by changing the clothes she wears to school, and gives Nell a new perspective as to who he really is; Woody acts the way he does because his family is poor, and the only way he can go to college is through football. Nell teaches Woody how to respect women, as well as her love for poetry and art. Woody partakes in the Yale interview for Nell, and succeeds. Nell hilariously learns how to play tackle football with Woody’s body and wins a championship for him. In the end, they realize how great of a person the other person really is, and the body swapping allows them to literally step into each other shoes and change the way their lives were.
So, if I ever happen to wake up one morning in a different body, I’ll be optimistic and pray that it’s a catalyst for change.

The rain was beating down hard since the morning till about 4:30pm. The wind, a powerful wrath against the trees. I felt safe, my blanket was sufficient in creating a familiar place of refuge. After reading Twilight fanfics for almost three hours, I retired to the couch to get started on my summer reading list, book in hand. Another wave of storm pelted against the house.

While I waited for the storm to pass, I started thinking about what made Edward Cullen, the ultimate perfect love interest. For I’m sure, millions of teenage girls, Edward is the ideal notion of perfection, someone we want but can never have. Most of all, Edward Cullen makes us feel secure. I compared it to being in a stable house during a wild, summer storm. Despite the havoc around us, readers trust that the hero will always be there for the vulnerable protagonist. This sense of security, whether it be false or not, is what every single person deeply desires. Also, before Stephenie Meyer, no author had written about a perfect being that was appealing to the modern audience. Somehow, by believing in the idea of flawless vampires, it makes them real. I mean, if so many people know about Edward Cullen, surely he could be treated as if he were real. The only thing missing is a physical presence. It’s easier to attach yourself to people in books because characters are only exposed to limited circumstances, their existence sprouted from someone’s imagination. Characters like Edward will always remain perfect in our minds. In real life, people change over time, for better or for worse, like driftwood weathered by the storm.

I started reading Anne Tyler’s ‘Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant’, something about a stormy day and a quiet house made it a perfect day for reading. I read the inside page where there are usually notes on the author and here’s what made me so freaking excited.

“She is the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of ‘Breathing Lessons’ and other bestselling novels, including ‘The Accidental Tourist’…”

I’ve been wanting to read ‘The Accidental Tourist’ after reading about how it helped a student see through life’s hardships and instill a renewed sense of gratitude for life. In the back of my mind, I had settled an agreement with the I-can’t-be-bothered part of myself that I would read it if I happen to stumble across the book again. I guess today was it, huh?

Oh and for anyone who’s seeking a good romantic comedy for Friday night. I recommend ‘It’s A Boy Girl Thing’. It’s really well written and there are definitely no cringe moments. Although, the story line is like Freaky Friday, so there goes originality but believe me, it was ten times better. Kevin Zegers has an uncanny resemblance to Zac Efron…no?

Use to hate that song, not really hate but I don’t like it sounds real slow and irritating to me but after hearing it a few times I start to like/love it. It’s nice after a few times. Just like some faces looks pretty at first sight and just ok after that but some manage to look prettier day by day. But there is just this bitch face in school I just don’t like. Yes I don’t like and wait till I cannot stand I will hide behind this password function and bitch about you all day long. HAHAH I hypocrite what. Nah la it’s for privacy I don’t want unnecessary problems, I want my privacy.

Day’s great had fun slacking over at baby’s watched it’s a boy girl thing! 5stars it’s an awesome movie wonder why straits time rate it so little. It’s nice and I think if you guys have the chance do catch it. For friends I got the movie in my lappy! Want can pass me your thumb drive in school than I copy for you went to buy bubble tea in the late afternoon and it was nice overall enjoyed myself and please please is there any dark cut expert around teach me your secret technique I just can’t seem to get it especially dark cut 2!!! Lenge siden jeg har skrevet noe her. Grunnen er enkel: jeg har ikke orket å skrive noe midt i ferien. Ferien skulle nytes til det maksimale, uten å tenke på å oppdatere blogg, eller gjøre lekser. And the list goes on. Nå skal det sies at jeg ikke ser på bloggskriving som minst like kjedelig, krevende, irriterende som lekser, og kanskje nettopp det er grunnen til bloggtørken. Jeg orker ikke skrive i bloggen med mindre jeg vil.

Musikken i ferien har gått for det meste i M.I.A (skal du forresten sjekke ut M.I.A MÅ du høre $20. Fantastisk låt), men også Timbaland og Justin Timberlake har fått en god del lyttinger den siste uka. Sistnevnte tror jeg skyldes Mortens hjemkomst(kan jeg kalle det hjemkomst, nå som han tydeligvis skal tilbringe resten av livet sitt der borte sammen med gamle Hjørdis som må betale for å få hjelp til alt mulig?)

Ferien har med andre ord stort sett blitt tilbrakt med Morten og Lena. Vel, nettene har blitt tilbrakt med de, på dagtid har jeg sovet. Rekorden min denne ferien har vært å stå opp halv sju på kvelden. For å oppsummere ferien litt kan jeg nevne at jeg, Lena og Morten har spilt spill (så klart) Ble vel mest Munchkin tror jeg, hvor både jeg og Lena var heldige å stakk av med seieren hver sin gang. Morten derimot, måtte nøye seg med flere kjønsskifter og aggresjon fra min side fordi han kasta felle på meg når jeg allerede lå nede i møkka. Jeg har også sett 2 sesonger av America’s Next Top Model (samt oppdatert meg på sesong 10), sett mange filmer, Bring It On: All or Nothing(som faktisk var mye bedre enn forventa), The Devil Wears Prada, Closer, A Knights Tale, Romeo & Juliet(satt barnevakt hos noen som ikke hadde kanaler på tven, så jeg så en av filmene deres), Sydney White og It’s a Boy Girl Thing, jeg har også sett flerfoldige episoder av Family Guy, The O.C og American Dad, samt min første episode av South Park.

Alle som kjenner meg tenker nok “Hvordan klarte hun å stå opp til klokken 09:26 på en Mandags morgen? Hun må ha døgnet!” Vel, til dere som tenkte som så: Gratulerer, you are correct. Det gikk uvanlig greit å døgne, men det skal jo ikke mye til å få tiden til å gå når man ser film og America’s Next Top Model (jeg er så jævlig hekta på den serien nå, og nå som jeg er ferdig med sesong 6 tenkte jeg at jeg skulle begynne på sesong 7)

Hva ville vel bloggen min vært uten et bilde eller et sitat i løpet av innleggene? Vel, ikke min blogg i hvertfall, så jeg tenker jeg avslutter med et bilde av Katarzyna Dolinska, personen som etter min mening bør gå av med seieren i sesong 10 av America’s Next Top Model. Lekrere kvinnfolk skal man lete lenge etter.
