On a roll. Like buttah!

Louis C.K. is on fire this year. Still rolling through his most prolific period of writing and performing, he’s recorded a two-disc version of his 2009 show Hilarious earlier this year. That’s coming out soon even though people are still discovering 2008’s Chewed Up and 2007’s Shameless. That’s three solid new shows in three years while managing to juggle all his other activities.

And as previously announced, Louis signed a deal for a new show on the FX network. It’s never going to be as permissive as pay cable, where Louis was able to float scenes like this classic on Lucky Louie. But damned if FX hasn’t been pushing the boundaries of basic cable as far as they can stretch with Sons of Anarchy and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. (FX has to be my favorite network right now when you factor in Damages and six seasons of Rescue Me. Even The League is growing on me a bit, and the upcoming Archer looks great!).

And today, Louis launched his own plug for the show. This is just too funny. Warning: NSFW (of course).

HBO never should have cancelled Lucky Louie. But now that Louis C.K. is lucky enough to have another shot, here’s hoping FX has bigger stones than HBO did. I can’t imagine the new show having a better cast than he did before, but he has the golden touch right now and I would not bet against him.Watch for Louie in the Spring of 2010 on FX.

Fans of the show will not be disappointed in this incredibly violent and ultra awesome holiday special. Dennis and Dee try to give Frank a visit from a ghost from his past with the hope that he’ll stop being a dick, Charlie and Mac try to find their lost holiday spirit and hilarity, naturally, ensues. I can’t remember laughing this hard at an episode in a long time.

My only complaint is that the special features leave something to be desired. Although, there is a very trippy sing-a-long video that will most likely make you cry and/or vomit.

The DVD is on sale at Target now for $16.99 (normal price is $24.99). Happy Holidays!

Worst Show: The Cleveland Show (Episode: “Ladies’ Night”) – I watch The Clev

Worst Show: The Cleveland Show (Episode: “Ladies’ Night”) – I watch The Cleveland Show afraid that if I miss it, they will finally have a funny episode. I’m still waiting for that funny episode.

The Power Rankings: (may contain mild spoilers)

10. How I Met Your Mother (Episode: “The Playbook”) – While I enjoy Barney’s single shenanigans, I’m still slightly bothered how the Barney/Robin relationship which the show invested us all in has dissipated so quickly.

9. Parks and Recreation (Episode: “Hunting Trip”) – This is slowly becoming my favorite show on NBC Thursday nights.

8. It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia (Episode: “The D.E.N.N.I.S. System”)

7. Glee (Episode: “Ballad”) – Not as good as last week but still a step in the right direction. I don’t think I can truly love this show until the two pregnancy secrets are revealed (especially Terri’s)

6. Community (Episode: “Environmental Science”) – Andrea and I sang “Somewhere Out There” at Sing Sing Karaoke at around 5 AM in the morning inspired by this episode.

5. The Mentalist (Episode: “His Right Red Hand”) – Like sci-fi shows, crime procedurals have mythology episodes and with The Mentalist, any episode that involves Red John is infinitely better than run-of-the-mill episodes.

4. Friday Night Lights (Episode: “A Sort Of Homecoming”) – I’m really getting tired of Landry getting attractive girls but the end of this episode was just sad.

3. The Big Bang Theory (Episode: “The Adhesive Duck Deficiency”) – Episodes where Penny and Sheldon spend most of the episode together >>> all other episodes

2. Curb Your Enthusiasm (Episode: “The Table Read”) – Leon (JB Smoove) completely stole this episode! “I Danny Dubersteined the shit out of him!”

1. Sons of Anarchy (Episode: “Service”) – The only thing that bothered me about this episode is that conflicts that have been building all season got resolved a little too smoothly (unless some people are playing possum). For all the praise I’ve given Katey Sagal (Gemma), Ryan Hurst (Opie) has been equally amazing.

I was watching one of my favorite shows “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and before the credits began to roll there was a short “In Memory of” that caught my eye. It was a man named David M. Zdunich with a face that immediately caught my eye.

It made me think about all the rest of us regular day people who make our marks on the world but on a much smaller level. I think it’s amazing that with current technology we can stumble upon someone’s whole world, and In Memory, I decided to see what I could find.

The first information I found related to his experience on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. It said that “This episode is dedicated to the loving memory of David Zdunich who passed away in 2009. He played Ernie, a frequent patron of Paddy’s pub. His first appearance on the show was in the episode, “Sweet Dee’s Dating a Retarded Person.”

He also made an appearance on an episode where Paddy’s earns the record of the “Worst Bar in Philadelphia.”

I continued looking and couldn’t find much. I stumbled upon an alumni paper from Otis

Terrance David Zdunich

1998, Communication Arts

Producer and performer.

It’s difficult to tell if it’s the same person. . .

However, if it IS the same person, then he’s done some amazing work.

Repo Man. The Genetic Rock Opera.

REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA is the brainchild of Darren Smith and Terrance Zdunich. The two began performing what they called ten-minute operas at coffee shops and rock clubs in Los Angeles in 2000. One of those short pieces, The Necromerchant’s Debt, a futuristic tale involving a graverobber, was the seed that grew into REPO! Zdunich says that “the original GraveRobber was a character very similar to the one I’m playing now in that he was this rogue who lived on the outskirts of society. He was making a social commentary about what he’d see in the graveyard. One of the things that he saw was a repo man who would repossess body organs that were bought on credit – that ten-minute story ended up evolving to where the GraveRobber became indebted to the Repo Man. When we performed it the audience reception to that story was the strongest of all the ten-minute operas we had done, so we thought ‘Let’s make it bigger!’”

It was during the process of staging and performing the show in New York and L.A. that Smith and Zdunich were able to develop the story, characters and songs that would later become the film REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA.

The movie looks absolutely amazing. Check out Repo! The Genetic Opera:

I put it on my Netflix queue.

In the end, I’m not sure if this is the same person. Either way, I spent some time today trying to find a piece of someone’s life so that I might pay them my respects. I think that it’s a worthy cause.

I can’t even begin to describe the excitement that is coursing through my veins at this very minute. AHHHH! Tell me, have you ever had a dream that you never thought in a million years would come to fruition? You thought about it forever and tried with all your might to make it come true ,and nothing. Then one day out of the blue, you are blessed with the bounty of that treasured dream landing right in your lap and allowing you to wallow in it’s wonder for as long as you’d like. Well, today was that day for me,people, and I really think I’m walking away from it a changed woman.

Today, I got to see Danny Devito naked in all his five foot tall glory. I know, I know, I’m one lucky girl. This desire to see Danny in his beautiful natural state has been with me since his days on Taxi. I can remember watching that show and just wishing I was a little bit older, and that I wouldn’t gain any more height as I aged, just so I could one day behold this splendorous thing.
Unfortunately, over time, I grew to over five foot, Danny went on to get married, and the dream was buried somewhere deep in my subconscious willing itself to die daily. Then today comes along, and I went out and bought myself a early Christmas present in the form of “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” “A Very Sunny Christmas” DVD,and it breathed new life into that old dream.FX Networks – It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia – Full Episodes and Exclusive Video.

Now I knew that this gift would bring me joy, considering every week I can’t miss an episode of the best show on television. Really,if you haven’t seen the show, your life is missing some much needed happiness. Make time Thursday nights at 10 EST on FX,and prepare yourself for the best 30 minutes of your life…it’s just that good.
After you have come back and thanked me for changing your life by turning you on to,” It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia”,you’ll find yourself compelled to go out and buy yourself the same early Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa(whatever you celebrate)present that I bought today. Once you’re done enjoying your early gift harvest a plenty, don’t be surprised if you realize that seeing Danny Devito naked is a dream come true for you too!

When people say, “I wish I was an explorer.
Fake or not, I’m in luv with a stripper

One of my most favorite scenes from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. If you havn’t watched this show yet, make sure to watch it Thursdays, at 10 on FX.

And finally, a quick plug for my friend’s blog. She’s funny and talks about her cat most of the time.
Yesterday FX released A Very Sunny Christmas, the direct to DVD release of It’s Always Sunny I

Yesterday FX released A Very Sunny Christmas, the direct to DVD release of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’s Christmas special. Right now there are no plans to air this on FX, so buying the DVD is the only way that you will see it. I was trying to decide of I was going to do a recap of the DVD or just review the release itself. I’m thinking since it might take a while for all the It’s Always Sunny fans to get the DVD and watch it I’ll just review the release of the DVD itself and maybe post a recap later.

I have to tell you that this movie (I don’t know if it’s really a movie, but it’s not an episode of the show either, so that’s what I’m calling it) was every bit as good as a regular episode, but maybe a bit funnier because they weren’t held back by the already loose restrictions they have at FX. The premise is very simple. Dennis and Dee hate Christmas because Frank always bought whatever gifts they asked for and kept them for himself, they want to pay him back. Charlie and Mac have wonderful memories of Christmas, but when they think hard about them they realize that maybe they weren’t as good as they thought.

There aren’t many extras on the DVD, but that really isn’t the point, and the movie itself more than makes up for it. There are a few deleted scenes of young Charlie and young Mac that are pretty funny, but don’t really fit anywhere in the story. This DVD is a must-own for any fan of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia!

Star In A Never-Before-Seen Christmas-Themed Special
Premiering On Blu-ray Disc And DVD November 17
From Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment
CENTURY CITY, Calif. – ‘Tis the season to be ill-suited. Pop open a bottle and toast to the most deviant, offensive and unwholesome bar owners in “Philly” as they celebrate the holidays in the raunchiest way possible when the never-before-seen It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia: A Very Sunny Christmas exclusively debuts on Blu-ray Disc and DVD November 17 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. Compared to “Seinfeld” as one of the most obscene hilarious shows on television, “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” combines crude humor with brilliantly unwholesome commentary while touching on highly controversial topics such as politics, abortion and terrorism, in a way that gives “pushing the limits” a new meaning. In the first never-before-seen feature length comedy, follow Mac, Charlie, Dennis, Frank and Dee as they spread their Christmas spirit with inappropriate childhood videos, a bloody encounter with Santa Claus and all the over-the-top, twisted and politically incorrect behavior the city of brotherly love can handle.
With its fifth season set to premiere September 17, the unconventional original series produced by FX Productions, starring creators and writers Rob McElhenney, Glenn Howerton and Charlie Day, as well as comedy legend Danny Devito (“Taxi”) and fan-favorite Kaitlin Olsen, has continued to gain a hardcore fan base with a strong cult following since the series premiere in 1995 and is now up 97% in ratings since its first season.

The It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia: A Very Sunny Christmas Blu-ray Disc and DVD include behind the scenes footage of the cast and crew as they transform Paddy’s Pub into a winter wonderland, home videos of the gang as children celebrating the holidays and a Christmas Carol “Sunny Sing-A-Long.” The Blu-ray Disc will be available for the suggested retail price of $29.99 U.S./$32.99 Canada and the DVD will be available for $26.98 U.S./$37.98 Canada. Prebook is October 21.

Synopsis:

It took some time. It took some focus. And it took more than a few beers. Like Andy Dick (thank Go

It took some time. It took some focus. And it took more than a few beers.

Like Andy Dick (thank God) and a post-”Mighty Ducks” Emilo Estevez, it was no secret to those true-blue Americans that Dilly had disappeared. One minute the Dillites (my faithful followers — ie. my mother) were filling their plates with a smorgasbord of Dillyisms — seeing the world with wide eyes and shit-eating grins, never letting their jolly drunk become a grumpy drunk — and the next thing they know, they’re left wondering the following:

-Was that creepo movie trailer his idea of a new post?

-Does he think watching 3 minutes of Crispin Glover in stretchy pants and high-heel shoes is gonna ease the deep longing in my soul for a Dilly post?

-Is all that porn I’ve been watching the real reason that my parent’s computer stopped working? (For me, during the Erin Andrews affair, that answer was yes).

Well here I am, so suck it up and deal. And then take a moment to celebrate this true American hero:

That felt good. Now on to real-life issues.

The first semi-deal that I wanted to ever-so-gently touch upon (just the tip) is no longer newsworthy — I mean, nobody really cares about Steve Phillips slammin a beat ass ESPN employee (Brooke Hundley the Destroyer) anymore. But Dilly does. And he’ll tell you why. Fuck Steve Phillips. Because of his clear-and-present sex addiction (exhibit A), I was forced to use and hear the phrase “good-looking older guy” more times than I ever wanted to. Every time a bro or a dude came up to me on the streets (cause that’s what bros and dudes do), there was a brief discussion, first) about Butch’s triple busted status, and then) immediately followed by some straight male’s admission (usually mine) that Steve Phillips is both, in fact, a silver fox and a total babe all wrapped into one. I do not feel good about any of these encounters, and I’m pretty sure I haven’t slept since. Fuck Steve Phillips. For being so fucking handsome.

Next up, I wanted to open some doors (and gosh darnit, while I’m at it, maybe open some minds). If you haven’t been watching “The League,” you are really ruining your own life. I hate to be the bearer of bad news… but you suck. Even if you aren’t into Fantasy Football (I do understand that the internet reaches some folks outside of the U.S.), “The League” is raunchy humor done right (and conveniently ran right after “It’s Always Sunny…,” Thursday nights on FX). Last week’s episode had an extensive discussion about how one of the characters’ sensitive teeth was definitively caused by his affinity for sucking off d-spots. This really doesn’t sound funny in writing (and I am officially feeling uncomfortable), but I swear this show is legit as hell. If you and your friends spend most of your time ripping each other to shreds (and isn’t that really what friends are for?), then make yourself a fan of “The League” (see what I did there… that’s wordplay mofos… learn it).

The last little bit I wanted to mention is that I have finally caved and got my ass involved in Twatter (yeah that’s right, I said it, and it will only be referred to as “Twatter” on this blog. Deal with it). It’s actually not the worst thing ever (except if you’re the kind of person who’s using it to let me know that you just had a great lunch and can’t wait to brush your teeth today — www.twitter.com/jenna_burpee) (just kidding Jenna). If you’re at least a little bit witty (or if you just think you are), get yourself going and friend or follow or whatever the hell Twatters do — do that to me, and hit me with something to laugh at while I’m pretending to do work. In case you were wondering, my job sucks. And yes, it is in a cubicle.

If you’re looking to follow a motherfucker, my shit www.twitter.com/thebigcdilly. Tell your friends.

Alright kids, that’s all I got for now. If I’m not too lazy (and we don’t see a rehashing of the couch years), you’ll be gettin’ weekly posts from here on out. I promise this last little gap was a fluke. Well, I hope so at least. Thanks for reading. GBA.

If you don’t watch “Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia” you really should give it a try. It is really a very funny show. It took me a while to get past the constant yelling, but I think that’s what most people enjoy about the whole thing.

If you’re not watching It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, you’re missing out. In

If you’re not watching It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, you’re missing out. In its fifth season, this FX comedy never fails to make me LOL… srsly.

(SIDENOTE: The overuse of LOL pisses me off, because very often, I don’t think people are really Laughing Out Loud. GMS might be more accurate, as in, Gets Me Smiling. Or TTWH – Thought That Was Humorous. Or simply S, for S’a'ight.)

Anymilksteak, there’s a trend amongst directors on that show, and I wonder if that plays any part in its biting sensibilities.

POP QUIZ! What do these guys (Matt Shakman, Fred Savage, and Jerry Levine) have in common?

I just gave you a clue. They’re some of the directors on Always Sunny. But as you can also see, they were all child(ish) actors. Shakman was on Just the Ten of Us, Savage was on The Wonder Years, and Levine was in Teen Wolf, amongst other things (including a TGIF show on ABC that replaced Just the Ten of Us).

This leaves me to wonder… what are their sensibilities behind the camera? Does the show seek out the directing talent of failed former famous Actors! because they bring experience? Or does the show succeed because the directors are failed former famous Actors! (because writing has nothing to do with it, right… TTHW)?

(SIDENOTE TOO TWO: There is always a third scenario – the Actors! are simply following the career paths of those before them, i.e. Jodie Foster, Sean Penn, and the king, Ron Howard. But that’s neither here nor there, nor Coinkydink nor Coinkydonk.)

Another of the show’s directors (and Actors!) is David Hornsby. He got his start on the fake reality show (which GMS on so many levels), The Joe Schmo Show, and since then he’s had limited success until Always Sunny. His co-star on that show fared a bitter better…

So let’s get down to brass tacks (a phrase I’ve been hearing more frequently, and that’s S)…

BONUS COINKYDINK OR COINKYDONK: Some of the previous CorC’s flow into one another. Sam Jones was in Smallville, which was produced by Jeph Loeb, whom wrote Teen Wolf which featured Jerry Levine. Consider your mind blown…

Worst Show of Last Week: Saturday Night Live (Host: Taylor Swift) – Aside from her monologue song which was cute, this was another terrible episode. Are they even trying anymore?

The Power Rankings: (may contain mild spoilers)

10. South Park (Episode: “Dances With Smurfs”) – I’m afraid they may have ruined Avatar for me.

9. 30 Rock (Episode: “The Problem Solvers”) – It’s still not great but it’s been getting better. I’m a sucker for any mocking of Canada

8. The Office (Episode: “Murder”) – I’m glad Ed Helms is getting a bigger role this season.

7. How I Met Your Mother (Episode: “Rough Patch”) – If the Barney/Robin break-up doesn’t stick, then this episode will be stupid in retrospect. Actually it still is kinda stupid. They spent so much time making it appear that Robin and Barney were perfect for each other and then spent the first half of the season disproving that.

6. Friday Night Lights (Episode: “In The Skin Of A Lion”) – That shouting match between Coach Taylor and Vince was one of the most intense sideline confrontations the show has ever done.

5. Community (Episode: “Debate 109″) – My lovefest with Alison Brie continues. I’m so conflicted. On one hand, Jeff and Annie have better chemistry then Jeff and Britta. On the other hand, was I the only one who thought “Isn’t Annie supposed to be 18-19 and Jeff in his mid-to-late 30s? Ew.”

4. It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia (Episode: “Mac and Dennis Break Up”) – I will never eat an apple the same way again.

3. Glee (Episode: “Wheels”) – Finally! This was probably my third favorite episode of the series thus far (my favorite being ‘Preggers’ – when Kurt comes out to this dad – and my second favorite being the pilot). Ryan Murphy, the show’s creator, said that this is going to be the tone for the show going forward. I hope so.

2. Sons of Anarchy (Episode: “Balm”) – That last scene. Wow! Katey Sagal better at least be nominated for an Emmy.

1. Mad Men (Episode: “Shut The Door. Have A Seat”) – This was probably the most fun that I’ve ever had watching an episode of Mad Men (which is sad considering this episode was the end of the Draper Marriage). The birth of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce was like a caper movie. They should have called the episode “Draper’s Eleven.”
