She favoured tight braids during the early stages of her Girls Aloud career and now Cheryl Cole has rediscovered the look.

The X Factor judge left rehearsals last night sporting two cornrows down one side of her head with the rest of her mane pined back into a loose bun.

Dressed in gradual fade jeans, a grey blazer and the same colour shoe-boots, she stopped to sign autographs for fans as she headed home for the evening.

She was joined by a black puppy – she has famously admitted she trusts her canine companions more than husband Ashley – which she escorted out in a fluffy bag.

Cheryl’s hair has almost taken on a life of it’s on in recent weeks.

Her famous dark mane secured her a lucrative deal with L’Oreal, but the advertisements went on to attract a fierce backlash.

In the campaign for Elvive Full Restore 5, a shampoo and conditioner range, she credits the products with making her hair ‘full of life’.

But it received complaints it was ‘misleading’ because it makes little reference to her £1,000 hair extensions.

This week she swapped those famous tumbling brunette curls for a bold suicide blonde wig in the new video for her upcoming single, 3 Words.

Of course, the 26-year-old is concerned with more than just her hairstyle today – she is preparing to cheer on her X Factor proteges Lloyd Daniels and JoeMcElderry tonight as they take on Elton John and Take That.

Joe, who received a standing ovation last week by all four judges, is set to perform Elton’s Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word and Take That’s Could It Be Magic.

Lloyd will sing I’m Still Standing, appropriately enough, and A Million Love Songs.

Joe is the 13/8 favourite to scoop the £1 million recording deal while Lloyd is widely expected to be eliminated on Sunday night.

He been an ‘emotional wreck’ this week, according to producers, and has been comforted by his mentor after threatening to quit.

THIS year’s X Factor champ is facing a chart showdown with a very familiar face – series

THIS year’s X Factor champ is facing a chart showdown with a very familiar face – series judge CHERYL COLE.

It will be a harsh welcome to the cruel world of pop for the winner, especially if it is JOE McELDERRY, who I’ve tipped for victory.

The little Geordie lad, the 4/1 X Factor favourite, is a dead cert for the Christmas No1 if he wins the grand final two weeks tomorrow.

To see a clip from Cheryl’s new video, click below.

But gentle Joe could see a very different side to his mentor Cheryl once the turkey and stuffing has all gone.

So far Chezza has protected her little protege like a tough-nut schoolkid shielding a cousin from class bullies.

But the gloves will be off when she releases 3 Words, the second single from her debut solo album of the same name, a week after The X Factor champ’s single.

In her new video Cheryl dons a platinum blonde wig, alongside WILL.I.AM, who features on the track.

A source says: “Cheryl and the record label decided to put the next single out after Christmas.

“The X Factor winner is always one of the biggest hits of the year and Cheryl will have a tough job toppling it.

“She really is the most popular pop star in the UK at the moment, but nothing can compare to the support The X Factor single always gets.”

Traditionally the first week of the new year is the worst for record sales, but Cheryl’s cunning record bosses have spotted a chance to grab a second No1.

Chart expert Gennaro Castaldo, from HMV, told me: “Whoever wins The X Factor claims the Christmas No1 spot and can look forward to a run at the top that lasts well into the new year.

“But if anyone can stop The X Factor bandwagon it has to be Cheryl Cole.

“Cheryl’s already topping HMV’s books and calendar charts, and her album is doing really well in the Top Ten also.

“The one thing that might count against Cheryl is a lot of fans already own this song having bought her album.

“So we’d say the odds are likely to remain stacked in favour of The X Factor winner to be the first No1 of 2010.”

Joe – you best get your mentor a cracker of a Chrimbo prezzie.

The video for Cheryl Cole’s next single 3 Words featuring will.i.am has been released and once again her look has caused some debate.

Her first single Fight for this Love saw her famously wear a skimpy military outfit and like everything surrounding style icon Cole there was much anticipation for the new video.

She appears in a futuristic gold and leather outfit before shocking with lightning white hair.

It is the second single Cole and will.i.am have duetted on with Heartbreaker going to number four in 2008.

The new single is out on December 21st but is already getting regular airplay and is surely set to follow her previous solo singles to the top of the chart a week after the X Factor winner.

X FACTOR judge Cheryl Cole has gone blonde in her latest music video 3 Words and she has never looked so sexy.

Cheryl Cole looks HOTTER than ever as she leaves her X Factor judging panel behind to adopt a Lady Gaga-inspired look in the video for 3 Words.

In the raunchy video the Girls Aloud singer is seen STRIPPED down to just a black bra and long black gloves – sporting a long blonde wig.

And she sexes it up as she shakes her body around as she moves alongside a troop of half-naked backing dancers.

The 26-year-old then changes into a hot military uniform which barely covers the top of her thighs – check out those legs.

And she lures us in further as she crawls along the floor in a figure-hugging black dress.

It’s number one already in our eyes.

As you know we have our fashion radar on high alert come XFactor on a weekend, and we can spot and name Cheryl’s designer gear at 100 yards. Yes, it is sad (sadder still that we watch XFactor while following other people’s twitter opinions), but the public need to know! But what with her music career taking off, Cheryl has upped her fashion game and has us judging her wardrobe more than ever. First it was the ‘Fight for This Love’ split trousers and uniform debacle – hmm, not one of our favourites we must admit – and now she has gone all lady of the manor/Lady GaGa schizo on us in her new video for ‘Three Words’, a duet with Will.I.Am. We have seen the first pics from it and we’re not really getting the theme to be honest. There are two stills where in one she is wistfully sitting in a throne (ok, it’s just a chair), and in the other she is leaning on a wall, both dressed on long, pretty conservative, gowns. So far, so safe, we thought. Then the GaGa pics arrived today of Cheryl with blonde hair, a bit of netting, and a bra top. Now you know us, we hate to make a quick judgement…well, if you insist…this kinda scared us to be honest, but we will reserve total judgment until after (and during) we’ve seen the video. But at least Cheryl now knows she should never, ever, ever go blonde!

Writing under the name @cherylkerl, a joker has been posting messages that poke fun at the X Factor judge – all written in a heavy Geordie accent. It’s the most entertaining effort we’ve seen on the social networking site.

One sample tweet refers to her controversial L’Oreal adverts: “Ah’ve gorra geet big boxa L’Oreal testaz that’ll mebbes sell at the car boot on Sundee, so yerz can come an get a boagan.”

In a survey of over a thousand quotes from the X Factor finalists, judges and fans of the show, Geordie lad Joe McElderry has emerged as the most relaxed contestant. The poll, undertaken by leading Australian beer brand Foster’s uses a series of language based algorithms to gauge how worried or carefree someone is.

Popular social networking site Twitter formed a crucial part of the survey, helping to determine that with a score of 80%, bookie’s favourite Joe was well and truly the most ‘No Worries’ contestant out of this year’s remaining hopefuls.

Foster’s brand manager Natalie Clearie said: “It’s incredible that Joe McElderry manages to maintain such a No Worries attitude despite the pressure he is under – we wonder if he has some Australian in him? His fellow finalists could learn a lot from his laid back, Aussie attitude, and who knows, it might even win them some more votes this weekend.”

On the opposite end of the scale, Cheryl’s other act Lloyd Daniels is riding low with a score of only 10%. With twins John & Edward gone he is now favourite to leave and having already faced the bottom two twice before, the odds are not looking good for the Welsh singer.

Has there ever been a more harmonious group around the I’m A Celebrity campfire? This year

Has there ever been a more harmonious group around the I’m A Celebrity campfire? This year’s celebrities are all so sweet and caring, the very idea of voting one of them out seems heartlessly cruel.

I blame Colin and Justin. I was expecting to see the kind of squabbles we always saw on their home makeover shows, where a difference of opinion over wallpaper could send Justin into a total queeny strop. It hasn’t happened. The two of them are absolute beacons of love and mutual support. Colin’s early exit from the jungle has only served to strengthen their legend. Colin swigs champagne and fondly reminisces to Ant and Dec about Justin, his “rock.” Justin cries and misses the man who always fixes anything that’s wrong in his life. The camp-mates all promise to look after Justin in Colin’s absence, and rally round him as if he’d been bereaved.

Everyone has started showing their softer side. Even Joe in the bushtucker trial was being quite sweet, popping a cocktail umbrella behind his ear and trying to keep Kim’s spirits up. If he had to drink liquidised crocodile penis every day, he says, he could get used to it. “I’d hang meself,” avows Kim.

Back at the campfire, talk turns to where all the celebrities will be in five years time. They’re only minor celebrities (apart from George), so they’re not planning wild adventures followed by long stints in rehab. All their hopes are to do with family. George says he was largely absent while his older child (now in his 30s) was growing up, so he wants to be there for his ten year old. Stuart says he wants to be married and have children (are Sabrina’s eyes sparkling a little more than usual at this point? Possibly, but it’s hard to tell with Sabrina as she sparkles constantly anyway), and would love to have a relationship as strong as Colin and Justin’s.

Justin says he and Colin would love to have children, and this leads Gino to say that he and his wife and sons are very happy, but they are trying to adopt a little girl. He says it hasn’t been easy, “but she’s out there somewhere,” he says. “All we have to do is bring her home.” This makes Justin cry.

Group hug.

Girls Aloud singer and X Factor judge Cheryl Cole is facing down claims of possibly deceiving fans. According to online reports, the issue surrounds ads she did for L’Oreal’s Elvive Full Restore 5. She is shown with beautiful wavy locks and she states, “My hair feels stronger, full of life, replenished with a healthy shine.”

In the opinion of many who have seen the ads, Cole may have also replenished with help from hair extensions. Although a disclaimer is posted during the commercials saying, “styled with some natural extensions” many viewers feel this is not enough. It was enough for the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority, however, as the body declined to take action against L’Oreal. For the record, Cole has admitted in the past to using hair extensions for “extra body.”

Culture Secretary Ben Bradshaw announced today that ITV have selected the North-East, Borders and Cu

Culture Secretary Ben Bradshaw announced today that ITV have selected the North-East, Borders and Cumbria to spearhead their regional news shakeup. Independent companies will now be invited to place bids to provide regional ITV1 news bulletins and programmes.

The alteration will make regional news in the area much more localised. The current format means that covered news in the North-East version of ITV regional news can span hundreds of miles, including Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. The new plans have been welcomed by the majority of the public and it is hoped will allow viewers to feel more connected to the news they are watching.

The recent merging of ITV Borders and ITV North-East into ITV North drew over 13,000 complaints to Ofcom, with the culprit being that the 30 minute programme had the task of covering ‘local’ news from Carlisle all the way to Teeside.

The move would also allow Scottish viewers to get regional news solely about Scotland and their government, rather than English news.

To meet the cost of early broadcasts, the winning consortium will be granted a proportion of the BBC’s licence fees. Eventually the funding could become common-place, but the government have refused to make decision on the subject until 2012.

The men in white coats have been and gone, the votes have been counted and verified, and there really is no more than a hair’s breadth separating these two style icons.

Each week Cheryl and Dannii impress us with the glamorous and imaginative ways they display their luscious locks, but when we asked ‘Whose hair do you prefer?’ it seems the question polarised the nation in a way we thought only John and Edward could.

In the 48 hours you’ve had to cast your votes 6,270 have pledged your allegiance – either to the flowing mane of Cheryl Cole or the sophisticated bob of Dannii Minogue… and now we can reveal the results of the 2009 Battle of the barnets.

Dannii brushed-up nicely and received 3,091 of your ballots giving her a very respectable 49% of the vote… but streaking ahead with 3,179 pledges was Cheryl giving her a marginal 51% victory.

How close was that?

Next week we’ll ask you to vote on the new and inventive ways our other two judges style their hair… actually on second thoughts…

Eminem is believed to have approached Simon Cowell to ask if he can replace one of the X Factor judges on the panel, because they aren’t “global” like he is.

The rapper apparently thinks that the show needs “platinum-selling stars” rather than mentors Dannii Minogue, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole.

Eminem reportedly said: “No disrespect to the current judges but you need people who are global platinum-selling stars.

“You need to prepare contestants for what it is really like out there, and what sort of pressure you are going to be under.”

The 37-year-old apparently added that “average” singers come out of shows like The X Factor, but if he and Dr Dre sat on the panel, a hip-hop superstar would be born.

However, Eminem supposedly doesn’t have the time to commit to a whole series of The X Factor, but he fancies appearing in an episode or two.

He reportedly said: “I am not sure I would have the time to do it full time, but I would come on and be a guest judge.”

(Daily Mail)

Katherine Jenkins is to follow in the footsteps of Cheryl Cole after landing a six-figure deal to appear as a judge on a new ITV Saturday night talent show. The 29-year-old mezzo-soprano is set to see her profile soar as she advises pop stars how to sing opera.

Miss Jenkins will become the broadcaster’s new face of Saturday night television with the agreement, said to be worth about £100,000. Myleene Klass – who rose to fame in pop band Hear’Say after appearing on ITV1’s Pop Stars – will host the programme, which is yet to be named. Using the now familiar format of Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing On Ice, the show will see celebrities learning how to become opera singers.

However, it is expected that those taking part will be existing pop or musical performers, who already have some proven vocal talent. One source said: “Katherine and the panel will advise singers how to take on opera. Each week someone will be voted off. With her classical background, Myleene is probably the ideal host.”

It is expected that there will be another two judges on the panel – at least one of which will be a man. Britain’s Got Talent winner Paul Potts and tenor Russell Watson are tipped as possible contenders. Watson already appeared as a judge on BBC1 talent contest Last Choir Standing, which also featured Miss Klass as host.

An ITV spokesman confirmed the programme was planned for next year but insisted details had yet to be finalised. It is being earmarked for an early evening time slot but will not occupy the 8pm prime slot the X Factor does. Representatives for Miss Klass and Miss Jenkins confirmed they were in discussions with the broadcaster about the project.

Miss Jenkins has been actively widening her appeal beyond the classical world in recent years. She performed at the X Factor final in 2007 with contestant Rhydian Roberts, and toured the UK with Darcey Bussell with musical show Viva La Diva. Her latest album Believe features cover versions of songs such as the Bob Marley classic No Woman, No Cry and gothic rock band Evanescence’s Bring Me To Life.

Miss Jenkins recently appeared at the BBC’s Children In Need Rocks concert, and is set to sing at this year’s Royal Variety Performance next month.

The Welsh teenager was gutted when he heard Louis’ comments and stormed off the stage following the results show.

Lloyd is constantly criticised by the Irish judge and later told mentor Cheryl Cole that couldn’t take any more and wanted to leave.

Cheryl was forced to calm the 16-year-old down and talk him out of quitting. She later hit out at Louis, branding him “rude” live on The Xtra Factor.

WOMEN of all ages, even children, yearn to look like the stars of screen and stage. But it is imposs

WOMEN of all ages, even children, yearn to look like the stars of screen and stage. But it is impossible unless you have about $360,000 a year to shell out.
In Britain, the new woman most girls aspire to be is Cheryl Cole.

Cole is the face and hair of L’Oreal, the ravishingly beautiful judge on Britain’s popular X-Factor, wife of Chelsea and England soccer player Ashley Cole and member of Britain’s top-selling band Girls Aloud. She has just released her first solo album.

The 26-year-old earns more for her work and product endorsements than Victoria Beckham, an astonishing $12.4 million a year.

But Cole is a a tribute to the wonders of modern cosmetic techniques and impossible to replicate in reality.

The Daily Mail newspaper in the UK explains why:

HAIR – $7200 a year

Cheryl Cole’s hair may look natural but her luxurious waves are made of Monofibre acrylic extensions. According to her hairdresser, her extensions used to be real hair but after her own locks became damaged they started using acrylic instead.

The acrylic has to be maintained every six to eight weeks and a full set are needed every three months at around $1300 a time.

EYELASHES – Up to $3300 a year

Cheryl is now never seen without her elongated lashes. She even has her own range of Eylure lashes, along with her Girls Aloud bandmates. Alexsandra Byrne, eyelash and make-up artist for Get Lashed, says: “She’s clever as she chooses lashes that are long but delicate.”

A complete set of lash extensions can cost up to $270, and need maintenance every four to six weeks.

MAKE-UP – $72,000

As the new face of L’Oreal, Cheryl receives around £900 worth of beauty products a month. Lisa Laudat, Cheryl’s personal stylist, is reportedly paid $72,000 a year to do her make-up full-time

DIET AND EXERCISE

Cheryl admitted to having a personal trainer at the start of the year – she says that she has to work hard on her legs – but mostly puts her figure down to hours of dancing, both in Girls Aloud and now as a solo artist. She has shed a stone since her still-slim Girls Aloud look, and now weighs 50.8kg (eight stone), which is in part down to a low-carb diet. She avoids red meat and favours low-fat Japanese food.

EYEBROWS – Up to a year $1500 a year

Not too thin, not too thick and perfectly shaped.Cheryl’s look is most likely achieved with the traditional method of eyebrow threading, where fine thread is twisted around each hair to pull it out. To achieve her look, Cheryl would have to have them done every three weeks, which can cost as much as $80 a go.

TEETH – $17,000 at least

Dr Wyman Chan, Cheryl’s cosmetic dentist from smilestudioLondon, has given her porcelain veneers and whitening treatments to improve her teeth. He says: “Perfecting her smile was of huge importance to Cheryl, so she had four porcelain veneers placed on her front teeth to correct the irregularity.” Veneers are wafer-thin covers that are cemented to the front surface of the tooth, similar to the way false nails are applied, once the tooth is filed down. It costs up to $2700 per tooth.

FAKE TAN – Up to $5750 a year

The company Fake Bake’s celebrity tanner and skincare expert Lisa Fulton says: “When Cheryl started to get media interest, she began using fake tan. She uses our lighter tanning products – only one or two tones darker than her natural skin tone – so she doesn’t have that mahogany look.” To maintain this look, Cheryl has four sprays a month, plus she uses 10 bottles of gradualtanning spray and 10 bottles of instant wash-off spray a year.

STYLISTS AND DESIGNER CLOTHING – $260,000 a year

Although designers clothe Mrs Cole, she still spends a small fortune on fashion. Her two stylists, Frank Strachan and Victoria Adcock, the woman behind her military-inspired outfits, have transformed her from girl-next-door to glamorous goddess. But it costs $80,000 a year for both. It is now estimated she spends $180,000 on clothes each year on top of that.
