Here is my review of the Canon IXUS 220hs which I’ve been using for the last 6 months with great success

This is a video I made for my friend Kimmo’s bachelor party, hence the focus on marriage and home tasks. The theme of the party was MacGyver, and Kimmo had to do lots of related tasks, so I decided to make a theme-tune spoof video to fit with the theme. There are lots of in-jokes that the average viewer may not get, but there should be something to make anyone chuckle…

The video was recorded at my home in Rosarito, Mexico using my Canon Ixus 220HS and edited in Kdenlive in April 2012. Comments are very welcome, and if you find it amusing, please share!

Twestival: Tweet. Meet. Give.

Twestival® (or Twitter Festival) uses social media for social good by connecting communities offline on a single day to highlight a great cause and have a fun event. Twestival is the largest global grassroots social media fundraising initiative to date. Since 2009, volunteers have raised close to $1.2 million for 137 nonprofits. All local events are organized 100% by volunteers and 100% of all ticket sales and donations go direct to projects.

Twestival was born out of the idea that if cities were able to collaborate on an international scale, but work from a local level, it could have a spectacular impact. Over 200 international cities from Buenos Aires to Bangalore, Seattle to Seoul and Hong Kong to Honolulu have participated in Twestival.

Anyway, I was there to support some of friends who were there as volunteers and of course the Children-At risk Empowerment Association (CARE). Made a humble donation in support of this very honourable cause and got a dip at the lucky draw. If you haven’t heard, I won the most coveted prize(s).

I have decided that in the spirit of giving, I will sell both items away and donate parts of the proceeds back to CARE. (Very much like how TAB donated 10% of all sales proceeds from event night to CARE.)

#1 Canon Digital Ixus 220 HS

The retail price of the Ixus 220 HS is $399 but without a memory card. Considering that a memory card costs about $50. I’m letting this chilli red baby go at $350. I only opened the box to take pictures of the goodies inside because it wasn’t sealed and I used the paper to handle the camera. Rest assured, it’s in mint condition. $50 will go to CARE.

#2 Canon Selphy CP800

Here’s a picture of the Ixus 220HS next to the Selphy printer to highlight its size. I didn’t unwrap the printer to take shots of it because it was carefully protected by bubble wrap. For more pictures just click on this link. The retail price of this baby is $199. I’m going to let it go at $150. $50 goes to care.
