The full nominations for the 2012 Arqiva BAFTA Television Awards have been announced this week. Huge congratulations go out to all nominated HH clients and shows.

The truth of the matter is that it doesn’t matter if you know the characters, it’s still heartbreaking to watch all of them go through the sinking of Titanic.

This miniseries was not about the charterers. It was about Titanic and what really happened. We got to see what it was like for all the classes and crew.

There was so many dreams aboard that ship. All of those people hoping to make a new life in America and a lot never got to see their dreams come true, like Paolo Sandrini. The Italian hoping to make his big dreams come true. Paolo was able to save his brother, but not himself.

Titanic is a story that needs to be told and keep being told. We have to learn from our mistakes. The marine law changed after Titanic sunk, but there were so many corners they didn’t need to cut, not filling up the lifeboats all the way for one. So many more lives could have been saved by that one simple task. They could have done so many things different and so many lives would have been saved.

It’s been 100 years since the S.S. Titanic sank and we still remember today. We must always remember. This was one of the greatest tragedies of all time and could have easily been avoided. It’s things like this miniseries that helps us remember and I hope we never forget.

The story is starting to come together.

This episode filled in the gaps of the last two and brought us once again to the sinking of Titanic. This one had a more in depth look at the discrimination between classes during the sinking. I would think it wouldn’t matter what class you come from when the ship is sinking, but apparently in those days it did. It was like what class you were born into decided if you had the right to survive this disaster.

I think the sinking of the ship is the best part of the miniseries so far. The story has been very jumpy going between the different characters. The story as a whole is not a bad one, but I still feel it’s rushed. The portrayal of the sinking is done very well. The chaos that is going on and the stupid things that are being done or I should say not being done to save lives.

The next episode will be the final installment and the conclusion of the sinking of the Titanic. I am looking forward to see who lives and who doesn’t. I am curious to see how the final episode is done. This episode went further into the sinking of the ship, so where will the next one begin?

The second episode of Titanic was much better than the first. There was still a mess of characters and a little confusion in the middle, but overall it was much better.

The episode started out focusing on the officers and a worker who worked on the electrical for Titanic and then earned himself 3^rd class passage to New York. I preferred this than the first episode that jumped back and forward and introduced us to numerous characters.

This episode focused on all the things that could have prevented Titanic’s sinking and the tragic loss of lives. It is ridiculous all the things that could have been done to prevent so many people from dying.

I found this episode very interesting because it deals with the history of the ship and the reasons that led to such a tragedy. As much as I loved James Cameron’s Titanic, this was a much more interesting portrayal of the Titanic, since it dealt with the history of what happened.

This episode really made me mad, because if only they had done what should have been done, maybe all those lives could have been saved.

I definitely think it’s worth getting through the first episode to see this one.

Now that we know what went wrong, I wonder who Titanic will focus on next?

In the first part of the Titanic miniseries so many characters were thrown at us. We were introduced to characters from steerage class, second class, first class and first class servants. There were so many characters in one episode it was hard to get attached to any of them. I think I like Georgina, the daughter of the Earl of Manton, but I didn’t even get to know her well enough to make an opinion.

When I start watching a new show I give it two to three episodes to really decide what I think of it, but Titanic only has four episodes. The miniseries really needed to hit the ground running and I don’t think it’s done that. I think the creator Julian Fellows is trying to rush the story along. Way too much happened in the first episode. I had read that in the end of every episode the ship begins to sink, but the last fifteen minutes of the episode the ship is sinking. That only gives the audience 30 minutes to connect with the characters. That is not enough time.

The episode did try to concentrate more on the first class passengers and the family of the Earl of Manton. There may have been 15 to 20 minutes total that was concentrated just on this family. That leaves another 10 to 15 minutes where the ship wasn’t sinking that we were shown other characters. We were just introduced to too many characters in the first episode.

The best TV shows are the ones with the best characters. Even in a period piece this is still true. Take Band of Brothers for instance. This miniseries followed characters based on real soldiers. The first episode was all about getting to know the characters, but even when new ones were brought in we still got to know them as well. I believe this can still be done in a miniseries of four episodes. We fall in love with characters in movies all the time and a miniseries has more time to play with.

I will continue to watch the miniseries, but I am hoping the remaining episodes are more focused than this one was.

To mark this significant centenary, ITV1 will air Titanic, an epic 4 x 1 hour mini series created by BAFTA-winning producer Nigel Stafford Clark and Julian Fellowes, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of ITV1’s hit costume drama Downton Abbey. RUTH BRADLEY and IZABELLA URBANOWICZ star in the series.

Titanic is the extraordinary re-telling of that doomed voyage, cleverly weaving action, mystery and romantic plots featuring fictional and historical characters, before coming together in an explosive and unforgettable finale. Titanic will focus on different characters ranging from steerage passengers to upper class guests.  Each point of view will culminate in a cliff hanger as the ship begins to sink, building to an explosive conclusion which draws together each of the stories. Viewers will be taken on a heart-wrenching journey through the Titanic’s last hours, as the drama reveals which of the characters will survive… and those who won’t.

RUTH plays Mary Maloney, one of the lower class Irish passengers and a mother of four children. IZABELLA plays Alice Cleaver, a nursemaid working for the wealthy Allison family.
