Rieccoci qui, immersi negli abissi sconosciuti della matematica!
Oggi vi propongo questo quesito:

Sapendo che j è l’unità immaginaria, quanto fa ?

I couldn’t resist… I listened to this song for the first time a few weeks ago. I let the song play while the husband and I were getting dressed for work this morning. We were giggling at the song like a bunch of five year olds and I heard J humming it to himself a little later.

It was a fun way to get Thanksgiving Day started, that’s for sure!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my American readers and friends!

I’m so jealous that you’re all sitting down to hot, delicious meals with your families today. J and I had an excellent first Thanksgiving together in Japan, though, so I really can’t complain.

Click here if you missed the post on my first Thanksgiving as a married lady in Japan.

I haven’t posted an entire day’s eats in a while. So here we go:

I opted for a really quick breakfast this morning, but it ended up taking me forever to eat it. And I realized halfway through breakfast that I’d actually left my coffee sitting on the counter. Doh!

Really, really good snack this morning. A half serving of raw almonds with one cheese wedge. It didn’t quite fill me up as much as I would have hoped, but that was okay.

Because I ate this about two hours later.

I’m calling these Happy Thanksgiving Oats because they tasted just like ‘fall’ to me. Unlike my usual method of just dumping everything in the rice cooker and letting it go for about half an hour, this afternoon I used a pot and my stove to cook up my oatmeal. Tina’s video inspired me to give it a shot on the stovetop and see how long it actually took for my oats to cook.

I used:

1 1/2 cups water

1/2 cup Quaker rolled oatmeal

1 tbsp Hodgson Mill Wheat Bran with Cinnamon and Flax

A LOT of ground cinnamon

about 1 tsp nutmeg

a few glugs of vanilla extract

1 small banana

about half a cup of granola/kashi go lean crunch

It was so much quicker than using my rice cooker. I bet including the time my water took to reach a rolling boil, my oatmeal only required about ten minutes. Wahoo! I’ve not been eating my usual bowl of oats in the morning because I thought it would take too much time to make.

I am so happy to be wrong on this one, but I will probably still use the rice cooker when I’m not in a rush. It’s a good way to get things done while breakfast cooks away.

Quick afternoon snack of green bell peppers and peanut butter. I cut up the peppers while I worked on the homemade salsa for tonight’s tacos.

Be on the lookout tomorrow for salsa and whole wheat tortilla recipes.

I made a batch of tortillas yesterday and my wonderful husband cooked up some taco meat while I rode the train home from my evening job.

Add a little cheese and salsa and I’m in Mexican food heaven.

I love tacos and we were eating them very often for a few weeks there, but we’ve cut down on our taco eating. I like that, actually. It makes it feel really special when we do eat tacos.

Work it, Girl!

I’m still a little behind in the workout department, but I was feeling super motivated today. I set off on my scheduled 2-miler as soon as I got home from the morning job.

That first mile was so rough today. I had to keep pushing myself to run because at times I wanted to walk. Where did all the endurance I built up disappear to? I will get back there in time.

The second half of the run went much smoother and I even felt like I could have kept running when I hit the 2-mile mark, but I didn’t. If there’s one thing I have learned it’s this: Just because you feel like you can do something, does not mean you should. My body and foot needs time to build back up and that’s not something I should rush.

I walked an extra mile to cool down (because it is GORGEOUS outside today) before arriving home for a 20 minute self-guided yoga practice. I should do more self-guided practices. I think I enjoy them a lot more than listening to the instructor’s voices.

Great workout today. I’m determined to keep this ball going! J actually introduced the idea of waking up early next week to start working out. I’ll admit, I felt a little proud when he said he was interested in getting back to working out (he used to have a doozy of a 6-pack!) because he currently does no extra activities outside of the usual dailies.

Wow. This turned into a long post. Sorry, guys!

18 years young. Born in Detroit, raised in Ypsilanti. Even though I was living in Ypsilanti, I atten

18 years young. Born in Detroit, raised in Ypsilanti. Even though I was living in Ypsilanti, I attended Ann Arbor Public Schools always where I met the majority of my peers. I was an athlete all my life doing both basketball and football since 6th grade. Sports was life pretty much to me. In 2007 though I tore my ACL during AAU basketball tryouts and it pretty much knocked my athletic ambitions off course, set me back, and crushed my dreams of playing sports at the collegiate level. I still managed to have a successful senior season in football. I was a pretty good student also; finished school with a 3.7 GPA and I was accepted into the University of Michigan, where I currently attend.

You’re probably wondering where and how music came into play with all of this going on. I always had a passion for music since elementary school. When I wasn’t doing schoolwork, with friends, or doing sports I’d most likely be watching BET and MTV or browsing the web learning about artists of the present day along with the greats of the past. By the time I entered high school I had developed a pretty good ear for music; listening to both R&B and Hip-Hop/Rap and enjoyed listening to the different styles of each region, from West Coast Rap, the South, and the East Coast. Every area had their own distinct sound.

Through out high school I developed a strong interest in the idea of business and wanted to make a career out of it, but never knew what. And music was just a hobby; I didn’t know how to rap, or produce music. As I matured, I learned that none of the “typical” careers in business seemed appealing to me. I knew I didn’t want to work for someone else, and I knew I didn’t want to go to work every day in a shirt and tie. I looked at some of the figures in hip-hop that I looked up to. Sean Combs, Russell Simmons, Sean Carter, Bryan & Ronald Williams, and Percy Miller were figures I looked up to as role models because of what they started.

I’ve known J. Spikes since 6th grade, we met on a local basketball team, and I witnessed him grow as an artist all the way up to the end of high school. I also met Infinity at the same middle school, yet never was aware of his musical talent until towards the end of high school. Kailz transfered to my high school when I was a senior, and I admired the level he was at musically at such a young age. I was always aware of the careers that Infinity, Spikes, and Kailz had outside of school and what they were doing. It was when I realized I had all the talent I needed right in front of me to launch a label, that I approached J. Spikes about the idea and presented to him my vision. Six months later in Fall 2009, my business partner and long time friend Dion Glenn and I, took the Feel Gudd movement that Infinity, Spikes, and Kailz created and launched Feel Gudd Music as an official imprint label.

Feel Gudd Music has big plans for 2010, and there’s a lot that must be done. We are all passionate about music and have a common hunger to rise to the top in Southeast Michigan. Look out for the mixtapes, the live shows, and the news that’ll take place in 2010. Feel Gudd Music is just now starting to rise on its feet; see you at the top.

Here’s the other article of interest, details on how the previous Ninja Turtle movies were a success and why THIS movie can be an even GREATER success: Ninja Turtles: Secret of the Movie

Sample:

What made the turtles a success in the past?

Ninja Turtles were a huge hit with children in the late 1980’s. The concept of a “ninja” was very exciting and still relatively new to American culture. Ninja Turtles had everything a child would want to see all wrapped up into one show, ninjas, mutants, pizza, skate boards, and funny jokes. In contrast, shows like GI-JOE were more true to life. The superhero genre had not yet taken off in the way it has over the last decade as a result, the audience was not as spoiled by special effects and big budget productions as they are today.

In 1990 the first live action movie was made for the relatively small price of 13.5 million and grossed a little over 200 million worldwide. It was the first successful live action movie that began as an animated series. People were excited to see their Saturday morning heroes come to life on the big screen. However, as Ninja Turtles grew more popular, more hands went in the decision making pot. Passion and creativity were slowly replaced by a committee of businessmen. It was unfortunate that the next three films did not find the same success as their predecessor.

Our challenge is to bring back the fire and excitement that people had for the first live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.

All for now guys, stay tuned for the next updates =D.

Mary J. Blige has released the artwork to her new album Stronger With Each Tear, which is her ninth full-lengther. The album was originally and tentatively titled Stronger, but that has changed. There have been three singles released from this album, all of which lackluster. No word yet on which ones will be on the album, let’s hope none. As for the cover, it’s regular but elegant.

So I saw Dr D today for the second time. My social worker came in with me, along with a junior docto

So I saw Dr D today for the second time. My social worker came in with me, along with a junior doctor who looked about 12.

I didn’t know where to start. I had taken some notes with me which helped a little, but I’m not sure how much he actually paid attention. I ended up having to explain most of my notes when he questioned me.

It seems he doesn’t really know what to do with me. He asked about antidepressants again, but when I reeled off the list of medication I’ve tried, he said I’ve pretty much exhausted the list. He decided to just leave my meds as they are. I’m a little disappointed about this. Although my current medication regime is the best combination so far (as in I haven’t gone *completely* batshit crazy on it), it’s hardly doing the job. I was hoping he’d have a suggestion of something else we could add. It just feels that by leaving the meds as they are, nothing is being done to try and improve things.

I brought up the subject of work and when I was likely to go back. He told me I’m still very ill and that I shouldn’t try to run before I can walk. Clichéd I know. I still find it weird when I’m told that I’m seriously ill. I guess as much as I do know differently, I still have those niggling thoughts that mental illness isn’t real illness. Everyone else’s prejudices still rub off on your subconscious.

I tried to push the subject saying that work were interested to know when I was likely to start a return to work. He just told me not to think about work. He just said the usual things about mental illness not having any exact time-scales. Apparently the CMHT are trying to get me better as fast as they can. I’m not exactly convinced. It feels like nothing has been done to try and get me better so far.

I also brought up driving and he just reiterated the need for me to be “stable”. He didn’t give any indication of what that means, just that I am not well enough to drive at the moment. Apparently all of these things will just happen when I am well again and I shouldn’t think about them. Easier said than done.

I mentioned the EAP therapy and he agreed that it might be helpful for me to have some support whilst waiting for the Enhanced Day Therapies referral to come through. Useless social worker, J was meant to chase up my EDT referral but hasn’t, so we shall see if she does it now she’s been reminded by Dr D. I think he was quite pleased to hear this about temporary therapy because it meant he didn’t have to do anything now himself!

The appointment didn’t last long and just felt like a complete waste of time. Apparently I will see him again early next year. No doubt it will be more of the same.

Regarding the EAP service. Yesterday, I was contacted by one of their counsellors to book an appointment. Unfortunately they were based in Liverpool, which is a two hour trek by bus from here (train would cost me money, bus is free!). I contacted the EAP today to ask if there was anyone I could see in Manchester. They’d linked me to someone in Liverpool because my address comes under Warrington, but Manchester is actually much easier and closer. Unfortunately all of their counsellors in Manchester are currently unavailable, but one comes back from holiday at the end of the week so they are going to ask them then. I guess we shall have to see what happens. If they can’t do it then I will probably give the Liverpool guy a go, but I’m not sure if it will be worth it with all the travelling.

Meh. I really feel crap now. Headache is raging (come on Propanolol! Work!!) and I just feel really demoralised by the crapness of the CMHT.

Enjoyable. That would be my word choice to describe my day. Which is surprising because I started my

Enjoyable. That would be my word choice to describe my day.

Which is surprising because I started my second job today, along with taking on teaching another class for the first job.

Stressful. That’s the word I expected to be using to sum up my day. Glad I didn’t have to choose that word.

Rested. I woke up before my alarm this morning. Despite going to bed later than I should have, apparently my body was ready for the day.

Toasty and easy. I made breakfast last night (hello, breakfast cookie… one of the best inventions ever) and just had to get my coffee going to round out the meal.

I also discovered that a bite of breakfast cookie (made with chocolate protein powder)+hot coffee=mouth love. The cold cookie and hot coffee melt together to create an awesome flavor.

Productive. My biggest worries with taking on another class and another job has been “How will I get everything done" and “Will I still have time for me?” Today proved I can work both jobs, do the necessaries around the apartment (cleaning, laundry, you know… the usual), workout, and still have some time for myself. But those are only possible if I practice good time management skills.

Must work on that.

I had a bowl of raisin bran with cow’s milk as a morning snack. I was really wanting yogurt, but when I pulled it out of the refrigerator I discovered it was frozen solid. Total disappointment there.

We can’t figure out our Japanese refrigerator. We turned it onto the “winter” setting and all the liquids froze. We turned down the temperature and everything is still frozen. I’m thinking maybe it’s just too cold downstairs?

Tough! I only ran 2 miles this morning, but the last half a mile really required me to reach deep and give it my all. I felt a bit ridiculous. I mean, is this the same girl who set an 8 mile personal distance record only a month and a half ago?

The endurance I had built up has definitely crumbled while I’ve taken time off for my foot to heal. But it was worth it. I’m happy to report the foot is continuing to feel good. The only thing that has changed is the insole of my shoes, so I have to assume it was a problem with my shoe.

Fun. My husband has the day off work, so we sat down and had lunch together—a rarity. It was nice to goof off and make our sandwiches together. We always have such a good time.

I created a toasted ham sandwich with tomato, green peppers, onion and mustard. A small banana, half an apple, and a mikan were tossed together on the side as a fruit salad.

I also did a little pre-Christmas shopping for myself today. I love shopping for myself. Our parents decided to give us cash this year, rather than attempt the shopping and then having to ship it, too—which is pricey. Forever21 and EyesLipsFace will be showing up on my credit card soon!

Blah, blah, blah. A good portion of the afternoon went to train riding and second-job training. I’ll get back to you on my feelings about this other job when I make a decision. Unfortunately it’s going to cut down on my husband time by quite a bit.

Surprise! The husband, my wonderful husband, had supper ready when I got home. Which was good since I was hangry. He baked some Italian dressing-marinated chicken and made mashed potatoes, too. I added some corn and a piece of cornbread to make a full meal.

J went above and beyond the dinner cooking, though, and had candles lit and our Christmas tree plugged in when I got home. What a great guy, right?

A-okay. That’s how I feel about my first day of getting back to eating and living more health-consciously. Three meals. Two snacks. A run. And brushing my teeth after dinner equals success if you ask me.

Why can’t we just be born with our teeth already in place? Sure, the breastfeeders might suffer but I’d have the backing of at least 50% of all parents and we’d all benefit somewhere down the line. I write this while perched outside J’s room, hoping that at some point he will stop howling and go to sleep. Downstairs T is rejecting her breakfast, having not eaten a decent meal for the best part of three days. It seems particularly cruel to have two children with an 18-month age gap who still contrive to be teething at exactly the same time – J’s first teeth arriving simultaneously with
T’s last. J’s problems seem to go a bit deeper than just teething, though
