A Fox divulgou um novo comercial da série Human Target, baseada na história em quadrinhos homônima da DC Comics, que fez muito sucesso nos anos 70.  Veja o trailer abaixo:

Na trama Marke Valley (Fringe) é um guarda-costas que assume a identidade de seus clientes, que são ameaçados de morte, tornando-se o alvo principal. O elenco conta ainda com Chi McBride (Pushing Daisies) e Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen e o novo Freddy Krueger de A Hora do Pesadelo)

O trailer não me convenceu, muitas cenas de ação e pouca história, Mark Valley terá a chance de provar que sabe atuar, o que ajuda a série é o seu elenco secundário, tanto McBride como Earle Haley são bons atores.

Human Target estreia em 17 de janeiro na TV americana.

Perturbadora, escalofriante y aterrorizante como la primera vez que me la ví. Así parecer ser A Nightmare On Elm Street versión Samuel Bayer y producida por Michael Bay.

Ya he visto otros clásicos del terror producidos por Bay y han sido bastante aceptables. Hay rumores de una versión de The Birds de Hitchcock pero creo que sólo serán pérdidas.

Llamo la atención de este avance tan sólo porque la peli original de Wes Craven en 1984 fue miedosa, apareció Johnny Depp y fue la máxima estelaridad de Robert Englund (quién tan sólo fue uno de los alienígenas bonachones en V: The Final Battle también en 1984 y de quién sólo he visto que haya logrado recientemente un protagónico en una peli de serie b titulada Zombie Strippers!).

Pero esta peli tiene un ingrediente especial y es Jackie Earle Haley como Freddy Krueger un excelente actor que incluso fue nominado al Oscar de La Academia por Little Children (peli que tengo en remojo para otra entrada). La iré a ver por él, el director, Samuel Bayer aunque tiene en su portafolio dirección varios videos musicales, es un total desconocido para mi.

Mucha suerte entonces para Haley.

Fox ha confirmado que uno de sus shows que verá la luz en este mid-season será Human Target, adaptación libre del cómic publicado en España bajo el título Blanco Humano. El 17 de Enero se emitirá el primer capítulo del show producido por Simon West y McG, y que cuenta en su reparto con Mark Valley, Tricia Helfer, Chi McBride  y Jackie Earle Haley, entre otros. Quienes han visto su piloto la califican como un show repleto de acción y ciertos toques de misterio en el que Valley interpreta a Christopher Chance, un guardaespaldas de gran habilidad que trabaja bajo falsas identidades para lograr que el que amenaza a su protegido salga a la luz, momento en el que Chance actúa. Al parecer los responsables de la serie televisiva se han cargado de golpe y plumazo uno de los grandes atractivos del tebeo, que residía en la habilidad de Chance para suplantar a las posibles víctimas adquiriendo de forma espectacular su identidad y físico. El problema surgía cuando después de varias de estas experiencias Chance era incapaz de recordar su propia identidad y dejar de asumir la de sus clientes, siendo este el motor argumental de la trama ideada por Peter Milligan. Para ver el tono de la serie de carne y hueso lo mejor es echarle un vistazo a esta nueva promo, en la que ya se anuncia la emisión de Human Target.

I’m going to avoid all the snarky comments that come to my mind when the words “Michael Bay” or “remake” come to mind, I’m sure you can fill those in yourself without any nudging from me.   And I sort of passed over the trailer for the Bay produced “Nightmare on Elm Street” remake, because I was trying to reserve more judgement until I saw a bit more.  I mean, I’d like to be enthusiastic that Rorshach (Jackie Earle Haley) is playing Krueger, that’s a great call and reason enough to be excited.

But so much of the trailer seemed like slightly re-shot scenes from the original to me, so I thought it best to shut my mouth just a little longer.   But to quench any thirst for Nightmare info, here’s a new image leaked from toymaker NECA showing the first good look at the Dream Master.  Of course, except for what looks like shoddier makeup than the original, not much has changed.    Fuck, I’m dropping this before an ill-informed rant comes spilling from my finger tips.

It's good that three or four decades did shit for Freddie's fashion sense.

As fans recently learned, the Nightmare on Elm Street Reboot stars WATCHMEN’s Jackie Earl Haley as the new Freddy Krueger, taking over from Robert Englund, whose absence is surely going to weigh heavily on audience’s mind no matter how good Haley’s performance. Besides a brief glimpse in the trailer, it’s been unclear just what the new Freddy would look like. And the truth, revealed by Figures.com via NECA, is here in this upcoming Freddy Figure!

It’s definitely a difference, but I’m thinking I like it: over the years, the Freddy Krueger ‘brand’, as it were, has become a true cult hero, but also a bit of a joke as he takes on unlikely foes and becomes more and more ridiculous. The new Haley Krueger definitely has a stranger stare, less of a smile and a creepier, more realistic burn-victim look, which makes him at once more accessible and more horrifying. Of course, it’ll come down to the acting in the end and as we’ve already seen from a number of shows, JEH isn’t low on talent. We’ll just have to wait and see.

But while we’re on the topic, here’s

Aquí tienen la primera imagen de la figura del protagonista absoluto de la nueva ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street‘, el icono del cine de terror que responde al nombre de Freddy Krueger, obra y gracia de la compañía de coleccionables NECA, y que esperemos que anime a la Platinum Dunes de Michael Bay, productora del remake, a revelar definitivamente alguna imagen oficial del rostro del personaje que con tanto celo guardan en secreto, y cuya caracterización como ya adelantó uno de sus productores será realizada mediante un 95% de maquillaje y un 5% de CGI.

Como ya sabemos Jackie Earle Haley, el Rorschach cinematográfico, le dará nueva vida en esta nueva versión dirigida por Samuel Bayer y que llegará a los cines norteamericanos a finales de Abril.

Si hace unas semanas os mostrábamos como podría ser el aspecto de Freddy Krueger en el remake de “Pesadilla en Elm Street” que esta preparando la Platinium Dunes, esta vez gracias a la compañía NECA, especializada en recrear los personajes de las películas en figuras, nos adelanta lo que será el aspecto final de Krueger.

El estreno esta fijado para el 30 de Abril del próximo año y la figura tras el salto para el que la quiera ver.

A pesar de existir un teaser trailer en el que durante un segundo se descubre brevemente en la oscuridad el nuevo rostro de Freddy, no ha sido hasta ahora cuando hemos podido ver con mayor lujo de detalles como será la nueva cara del que sembrará el terror en la remakeada Elm Street.

Y es que se ha filtrado una fotografía de lo que según Scifiworld, que han sido los que confirman la autenticidad del nuevo look, parece ser una escultura del busto del nuevo Freddy y que aseguran que sino es al 100% igual es muy parecida.

Los responsables de esta nueva versión de “Pesadilla en Elm Street” ya dijeron en su día que le darían un nuevo aspecto al Freddy de Jackie Earle Haley, más terrorífico, más difícil de mirar y de olvidar, que querían que se aproximara mas al aspecto real que tendría una persona quemada y que no seria igual que el original de Robert Englund.

Personalmente todavía no me hago al cambio de tan mítico personaje y no dudo que Jackie Earle Haley hará un buen papel y que con toda seguridad será lo mejor de la película, pero hasta que no vea una foto oficial del personaje no me pronunciare al respecto.

Today, as part of our Films On Wheels series, My Year as a Freelance Bicyclist® sits down for a chat with Dennis Christopher, star of the hit 1979 movie Breaking Away, hailed by many as the Chariots of Fire of bicycling.

My Year as a Freelance Bicyclist: Want to just say, first off, how grateful we are (and so are our readers!) that you’re taking the time to speak with us.

Dennis Christopher: Absolutely, no problem.

MYFB: What was it like to act in a bicyclist movie?

DC: It was great. I trained some, but you know, it was the ’70s. No one thought about training much. We just rode for a couple weeks before filming. Oh, man, I just think about how it would be now…

MYFB: Yeah. In the film, at one point your mother and father are having a discussion, and your mother says, about you, “I don’t know dear. We could always strangle him while he’s asleep.” How did that feel, hearing that?

DC: As a character? It was terrible. I mean, to hear your mother… Just awful.

MYFB: Right. I’m sorry.

DC: Thanks. It’s okay, I’m really not—you know, actually, I didn’t even know about it until seeing the final screening. Can you imagine that! Because that line was improvised, so I hadn’t ever read it in the script.

MYFB: Wow.

DC: Yeah. Exactly. But I guess, you know, with time and distance under my belt now, I can see that moment for the comic genius that it was, and not just for the heartless mother.

MYFB: Okay. How about this: Mike or Moocher, if you had to choose.

DC: Moocher. No question.

MYFB: Ahh, interesting. So, Dennis Quaid, who played Mike?

DC: Oh, no, no, he’s fine. Really nice guy. Into some really weird shit, but a really nice guy. But to think he’s more known than Moocher [played by Jackie Earle Haley – ed.], I tell you, it just blows one’s fucking mind. Just right out of the water, you know? If you would have told anyone on that set in 1979—and I’m including Quaid here—that the name Dennis Quaid would be more known 30 years later than Jackie Earle Hailey, no one would have believed you. Would have laughed at you, actually.

MYFB: Weird shit?

DC: Who, Quaid? Oh, just typical Hollywood stuff. You know, dead bodies, that kind of thing.

MYFB: I see. And Jackie—

DC: Now Jackie Haley’s out there playing some fucking pedophile? Just creeping people out. It’s just… No one saw it coming, is all I’m saying.

MYFB: You said, in Breaking Away, that “Italians are poor, but they’re happy.” Is that still true?

DC: It probably is. The only Italian friend I have now is Tommy Pasquini, and he’s from New Jersey.

MYFB: Is he poor but happy?

DC: No, he’s not poor. But he’s happy enough.

MYFB: So then you don’t actually know whether Italians are still poor but happy.

DC: Yeah, you know, I guess not.

MYFB: Mr. Christopher, what do you think about Freelance Bicycling?

DC: I think it’s great. Absolutely great. I have a few that I hire on a regular basis, matter of fact.

MYFB: That’s fantastic. Hey, why don’t you—

DC: I wouldn’t do it for a million dollars.

MYFB: Really? God, you must know, though, that people would love it if you started freelancing. You’d get such high-profile jobs.

DC: Listen, I’m an actor. I’m on CSI sometimes, you know? I was a homeless guy. In fact, that was my character name: “Homeless Guy.” But still, it’s CSI. Ever heard of Criminal Minds? I’m on that, too. And I play Odin in Queen of the Lot. So I can’t just be out there bouncing around on a bicycle, running errands for people.

MYFB: It’s not just—

DC: I know it’s not just running errands. But you know what I mean. I’m an actor.

MYFB: Of course, of course, I was just saying.

DC: I’m an actor.

MYFB: Okay, fair enough.

MYFB: If you, let’s see here, sorry… oh yeah, there it is: if you could describe your bicycle riding style as a song?

DC: Oh boy, a song?

MYFB: A song.

[Pause. Mr. Christopher thinks for several moments.]

DC: Whew. I guess I’d say “Tequila Sunrise” by the Eagles?

MYFB: “Just another tequiiiila sunrise…”

DC: Right. Exactly!

MYFB: So…

DC: No, no, I don’t mean I was drinking when I rode, or that I drink now. I actually don’t drink at all. Just, you know, that feeling. Of the line “Just another tequila sunrise.” The feeling.

MYFB: Okay, great. The feeling.

DC: The feeling.

MYFB: Right. So what is—

DC: The feeling.

MYFB: Got it. You ride a bike, and it feels like the line “Just another tequila sunrise.” That’s fantastic.  And it’s—

DC: The feeling.

MYFB: Okay, I’m gonna go. I’m uncomfortable.

DC: Sorry.

MYFB: Don’t you worry about it.

I’m still not fully on board with Leo in a horror, because I’m still jaded about Secret Window, Johnny Depp’s half-ass return to “horror”, so can Leo pulls this off? We shall see , I guess. Yes, I know Johnny and Leo have nothing to do with each other, but it’s the way mind works. Anyway to refresh the noggin, here’s the story:

It’s 1954, and up-and-coming U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Boston’s Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital. He’s been pushing for an assignment on the island for personal reasons, but before long he wonders whether he hasn’t been brought there as part of a twisted plot by hospital doctors whose radical treatments range from unethical to illegal to downright sinister. Teddy’s shrewd investigating skills soon provide a promising lead, but the hospital refuses him access to records he suspects would break the case wide open. As a hurricane cuts off communication with the mainland, more dangerous criminals “escape” in the confusion, and the puzzling, improbable clues multiply, Teddy begins to doubt everything – his memory, his partner, even his own sanity.

Jackie Earle Haley is playing Freddy Kreuger in the new “Nightmare On Elm St.” remake.

Here is what the new Freddy looks like.

In my opinion, I like it. It definitely looks like a real burnt victim. The new Freddy look is pretty creepy as well. The way the original Freddy should have been.

The trailer for the new Nightmare on Elm Street trailer didn’t really show Freddy’s face – turned out the effects were still being worked on but they had said they’d done a lot of research regarding burn injuries.

Now Figures.com had this photo of Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy and we can now see that he does look a little different to the original. Definitely a more burn victim look.

I think it will work in the film. What do you think of Freddy’s face?

Alternando su reciente faceta de documentalista con la de productor de cine y realizador de TV, el maestro del costumbrismo contémporaneo, el futuro ganador del Cecil B. DeMille en los próximos Golden Globes, el gran Martin Scorsese, se prepara para una grata sorpresa. Y la sorpresa es su regreso al género del terror y el suspenso.

Para los que no recuerden Cape Fear y su magnífico DeNiro, Martin Scorsese en 1991 adaptó la novela de John D. MacDonald y junto a él, Nick Nolte, Jessica Lange y la jovencita Juliette Lewis armaron lo que para mi es un claro ejemplo de suspenso donde el cruento enfrentamiento entre DeNiro y su abogado defensor, Nolte, nos dejó petrificados en nuestras sillas. Para ese entonces Juliette Lewis caracterizaba a una jovencita casi de la misma edad mía; en ese entonces no concebía muy bien la diferencia de edades y pues me parecía un acto de seducción medianamente normal. Vista uno o dos veces después, el acto pedófilo se hizo más evidente y alimentó mi morbo en esta peli en particular. No hay cabida para ser tan macabro como lo fue DeNiro y tan genialmente malvado como Scorsese para lograr esta factura. La maldición de Scorsese, y de paso la de DeNiro, era la de arrasar en nominaciones y no ganar absolutamente nada (una gran injusticia con este par de monstruos), esta no fue la excepción. Qué buen guión, qué buena factura, qué actuaciones, etc… Y nada. Al final la revelación de Lewis y su virginal papel, le conllevaron dos premios y una nominación a nivel independiente.

Scorsese se prepara para un nuevo atardecer, de la mano de un reparto sencillamente impresionante, de Robert Richardson veterano de mil batallas en cinematografía al lado de Oliver Stone, el mismo Scorsese y recientemente visto en los basterdos de Tarantino, y de Thelma Shoonmaker editora que no sólo es una ganadora impresionante de óscares sino casi la mano derecha de Scorsese en todo su portafolio de largometrajes.

Apunta a ser escalofriante, impresionante, tenebrosa, ojalá muy gore y de una factura impecable. Que se lleve sus buenos premios y que Scorsese como es caballero repita Oscar como es debido.
