On the eve of the Chinese New Year, I hopped off of the F train and walked four short blocks to Ross Sacharoff and partner Jacob Vainer’s organic market, Healthfully.com located on 98 East 4th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenue in NYC. We’re always trying to stay small and local, and when a friend of mine told me about Healthfully.com, I couldn’t resist checking it out. Upon entering Healthfully Organic Market, I was greeted by a smiling Ross, and taken on a tour. Healthfully Organic Market has everything an allergic mom needs, with the exception of a few favorites (which this Brooklyn Allergy Mom is dutifully hooking Ross up with!) They have a well-stocked juice bar and offer their market as the location to many guest speakers on health and wellness. One side of the store is dedicated to vitamins and supplements, and because Ross spent his early career as an account executive for Country Life Vitamins, Desert Essence and Long Life Teas, he remains extremely knowledgable about vitamins and supplements. I felt like I could ask him anything.

Ross treated me to a delicious juice of my favorite things, apple, carrot, kale and lemon boosted with organic sprouted rice powder. He also stocks hard to find raw organic coconut water, shipped straight from Thailand. Although it is bottled, the flavour tasted as if I were drinking straight from a coconut.

The Brooklyn Allergy Mom’s trusted brands that Healthfully.com stocks include Tinkyada Rice Pasta, Lucini Pasta Sauce, Olive Oils and Basalmic Vinegars, Bakery on Main Oat Free Granola (contains nuts), So Delicious Coconut Milk, Udi’s Gluten Free Breads (contain eggs) and more. Healthfully also had a few brands that I was unfamiliar with, such as Matt’s Munchies by chefrobertsdirect.com - I still have to look into them to see what their allergen policies are, but trust me, that is next on my list. Healthfully has a small selection of organic vegetables, fruits and prepared sandwiches and wraps.

Delivery service is available in Manhattan through Seamless.com and, depending on the size of the order, they may also deliver direct to Brooklyn.  Ross Sacharoff is extremely knowledgable and is able to answer your most detailed question about health, supplements, GMOs and more.

I’ll be going back soon to pick up some more Lucini Lemon Olive Oil and Lucini Fig Basalmic Vinegar.
