Probably one of my absolute most favorite characters on Glee, Kurt Hummel brings such suhweet style

Probably one of my absolute most favorite characters on Glee, Kurt Hummel brings such suhweet style to the screen. I’ve always had a soft spot for le acteur Chris Colfer, but after last nights episode I absolutely had to write him a love note. Decked out in various designer duds (I particularly love his Marc Jacobs blazers and coats–totally fabulous), his clothes make him stand out in the high school setting that IS Glee. But as style can only carry you so far, the charm that Colfer brings to his character is pretty darn tootin’. Who can say no to that hilarious first scene where he asks to save his new Marc Jacobs coat from being trashed? Not to say that his style overshadows his talent. His beautiful rendition of ‘Mr. Cellophane’ from Broadway play Chicago is nothin’ short of marvelous. I only lament that his singing parts in Glee Club are not as numerous in number and as lengthy as Rachel and Finn’s.

So I blow kisses your way, Kurt darling. Who else but you has a wardrobe, voice, and night skincare routine quite like that? Stay beautiful!

Yours truly,

It is really something when you can watch a movie, and have it affect you in way that ignites a cert

It is really something when you can watch a movie, and have it affect you in way that ignites a certain flame within you, causes you to want to do something. These are the top five movies that make me want to partake in criminal activity.

5. Fight Club (1999)

A ticking-time-bomb insomniac (Edward Norton) is dissatisfied with his white-collar job in American society, and who upon meeting outlandish soap salesman Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt), begins forming underground “fight clubs” to vent male agrression that quickly catches on. Fight clubs begin popping up in many cities all across the United States, and Tyler Durden becomes nothing short of a God.

With this new found glory, Tyler assembles an army, and sets forth with Project Mayhem, in which they commit destructive acts of anti-capitalist vandalism throughout the city.

Fight Club has a way of pulling us out of the dreary, monotonous life that we all lead and gives us a taste of what it is like to live, to really feel.

We’re the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our great war is a spiritual war. Our great depression is our lives. We’ve all been raised on television to believe that one day we’d all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars, but we won’t. We’re slowly learning that fact. And we’re very, very pissed off.

Conclusion: Criminals read Reader’s Digest. I read Reader’s Digest. I am a criminal.

4. Pulp Fiction (1994)

Quentin Tarantino’s American crime film, chronicles, nonlinearly, the intersecting storylines of two Los Angeles hit-men, fringe players, small-town theives, and a mysterious briefcase.

Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson) and Vincent Vega (John Travolta) are two mob hit-men who have been sent by their mob boss, Marsellus Wallace to retrieve a stolen briefcase. Wallace then also asks Vincent to take out his wife Mia (Uma Thurman) when he is out of town a few days later. Butch Coolidge (Bruce Willis) is an aging boxer who is paid by Wallace to lose his next fight, but when he ends up killing his opponent, he seeks to leave town. The lives of these four seemingly unrelated people become interwoven in a stylistically nonlinear manner.

Now what I love about Tarantino films is the dialogue; Tarantino’s writing is phenomenal. The dialogue is fast, witty, and funny. And of course, it just wouldn’t be Tarantino if the narrative were not presented out of sequence. Okay, now I have to admit that I failed to figure out the correct order in which the parts relay, and so I had to look it up–and that’s the criminal way, the easy way out. Next I’ll be blasting off the head of some guy in the back seat of my car. Now an accident’s an accident, but covering it up is suspect.

Conclusion: Criminals enjoy eating Quarter-pounder with Cheeses. I enjoy eating Quarter-pounder with Cheeses. I am a criminal.

3. The Boondock Saints (1999)

Take two Irish Catholic brothers and an Italian sidekick, add a “message from God,” subtract any professional training, and you’ve got yourself an admirable crime thriller. Brothers Conner (Sean Patrick Flannery) and Murphy (Norman Reedus) MacManus feel that it is their calling from God to rid the earth of crime and evil, so the two set out to do away with Boston’s organized crime.

We do not ask for your poor, or your hungry.
We do not want your tired and sick.
It is your corrupt we claim.
It is your evil that will be sought by us.

I have found that people either love this movie, or they hate it. And many times people will hate it because they misread the genre of the movie, this movie was not meant to be a drama, but more as an action comedy. This movie has everything: guys hanging from the tops of ceilings, an openly gay FBI agent, and bartender with mild Tourette’s.

The thing about being a vigilante is, some will think you are a criminal, whereas, others will think you are a hero. And that’s the primary appeal, really.

Conclusion: Criminals tell racist jokes. I tell racist jokes. I am a criminal.

2. Catch Me if You Can (2002)
You know why the Yankees always win, Frank?
Cause they have Mickey Mantle?
No, it’s ’cause the other teams can’t stop staring at those damn pinstripes.

A devilishly charming Frank Abagnale Jr. (Leonardo DiCaprio) successfully conned millions of dollars all before his 19th birthday by posing first as a Pan American Airline pilot, a Georgia doctor, and then a Louisiana lawyer, his primary crime being check forgery, becoming so skillful that the FBI later recruited his help to track down and catch other check forgers. But get this: the movie was based on a true story; this movie chronicles the life of a true criminal!

Abagnale started off small, at the age of sixteen, posing as his class’ substitute French teacher. There is one scene that has always stuck out to me as an aspiring criminal: Frank is sitting in the office as his parents are in a conference with the principal of his school, and he sees a girl walk up to the secretary and proclaim that she has a note to skip fifth and sixth period. The secretary excuses herself, telling the girl that she will be right back. He then tells the girl that she should fold the note: “When your mom hands you a note to miss school the first thing you do is, you fold it and you put it in your pocket. I mean, if it’s real, where’s the crease?” Every time after that, whenever I had a note for the school from my mother, whether it was real or not, I always folded the note.

For Frank, being a criminal had its perks: having sex with beautiful women, having the luxury to travel all over the world, and having the satisfaction of being able to buy his father a 1965 Cadillac DeVille convertible. Yes, the check forger’s life is the life for me.

Conclusion: Criminals forge excuse notes. I forge excuse notes. I am a criminal

1. The Warriors (1979)

Cyrus, the leader of the largest gang in New York City, the Gramercy Riffs, initiates a midnight summit with all of the gangs in the city. He asks that each gang send nine unarmed representatives to the meeting, the Warriors being one of many.

At the meeting, Cyrus suggests a citywide truce amongst all of the gangs, which will in turn give them the power to rule the city. He points out that there are 60,000 of them, and only 20,000 cops in the whole city. Most of the gangs approve of the idea, with the exception of the Rogues, who had smuggled in a gun, having their leader, Luther, shoot and kill Cyrus. The Warriors are then wrongfully accused of killing Cyrus, and there becomes a bounty set on the Warriors. The story chronicles the rest of the night as the Warriors fight their way through every gang in the city, trying to make it home to Coney Island.

With fight scenes that are absolutely riveting, sometimes cheesy dialogue, and costumes that make Marc Jacobs look derelict, it’s no wonder that since I first saw this movie six years ago, I have been dying to join a gang of my own. And given that I cannot sing or dance, both the Jets and the Sharks are out of the question. Can you dig it?

Conclusion: Criminals are partial to face paint. I am partial to face paint. I am a criminal.

So it turns out, I already lead a life of crime.

I actually really, really love coffee. Thus I was super-duper excited when I saw this at the grocery store this afternoon:

My New Coffee Cup!!

Yep. It’s coffee and a coffee mug. What’s better than that? The coffee I regularly buy at the same price with a coffee mug!? Um, that makes the coffee mug free. Well, I guess free coffee and a free mug might be better. Oh and even better than that would my own baritsa. But, today, I got a free coffee mug and that’s okay by me.

I guess it’s a good thing that little things make me happy. Or, in this case a green coffee mug.

One last thing, for my American readers I know that the coffee brand Jacobs looks like the “J” should be strong like Jack or Jill but here in Bulgaria it’s a soft “J.” Now you know. For what that’s worth.

The woman who has been hailed as the officer responsible for ending the captivity of Jaycee Dugard, spoke to students this week about her experiences and the importance of listening to inner feelings.

UC Berkeley Police Officer Ally Jacobs told the audience of young people at Santa Margarita Catholic High School, her alma mater “One day I woke up, went to work and did my job… This guy comes in to work, a little off, with two kids, and after interviewing him I just got this weird feeling, and I followed up on it.”

Jacobs was speaking of Phillip Garrido, a convicted sex offender who was at the Berkeley campus attempting to distribute religious material. With him were his two daughters, Starlet and Angel, who he fathered with his captive, Jaycee.

Garrido and his wife, Nancy, are accused of kidnapping Jaycee from a school bus stop in 1991 and holding her in a backyard compound for almost two decades. She and her daughters have now been safely reunited with her family.

In her speech Jacobs said “If you take anything away from today… just listen to your voice. It’s always right, it’s there for a reason. So, I listened to that voice, I followed up, went a little extra mile, and three lives were saved because of it.”

Students were inspired by Jacobs, and after her inspirational message Courtney Stoddard, 17, told the Los Angeles Times “…you might come across obstacles but to kind of push through them.”

Lindsey Mann, 17, noted “What she said about follow your dreams, follow your intuition. It’s interesting because in high school, you’re afraid to do certain things. High school is kind of like its own society, so people will judge you for doing things, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that society is right. So you have to listen to your own heart and follow what you believe.”

So today, or rather, yesterday, my friends and I wandered into Crossroads Trading Company to try to

So today, or rather, yesterday, my friends and I wandered into Crossroads Trading Company to try to rid our blues. I bought three dresses, a beautiful print knit bolero, and a bright blue peacoat. (I’m satisfactorily happier now.) On the way out, I spotted Red Marc Jacobs Wedges and a stunning pair of Gray Stella McCartney Boots. (Thank the lawd they weren’t my size, or i’d probably be out $250 by now.) But they were pretty reasonably priced at $100 (MJ) and $150 (SM). So if ever you are in the vicinity of a Crossroads, go check it out in all its glory.

Speaking of two of my favorite designers in the history of HUMANKIND, below are some of my favorite looks from their Spring 2010 runway shows. Stella McCartney’s collection was magnificent and by gods, I swear I will be there one day! Marc Jacobs’ collections (both Marc by March Jacobs and Marc Jacobs) were BOTH marvelous, although I tend to shy away from the more (dare I say it?) young-y looks of Marc by Marc Jacobs. Still beautiful to behold, however. Onward maties!

Pretty much enthralled by this blouse and pair of shorts. Aren’t they just so cute?

Ahh, not only am I thankful for wonderful thrift stores, I’m thankful for the likes of you, Stella McCartney and Marc Jacobs. (Really! Your designs make me so excited I probably would pee my pants if I saw them in person!) Your dominance in the fashion world is only evidence of your brilliant minds and ongoing greatness. I cut my Turkey in honor of you! (OK maybe not true, I don’t eat Turkey. Or meat for that matter… hm I should get that checked out. ) Have a great Thanksgiving, peoples! And don’t forget to be thankful for your bestest designers. (:

Starting to lay out the Jacobs fleece

Cotton fabric between the layers of wool

I should also have said that I used green silk hankies both within the fleece and at several points near the edge of the rug but that the white silk tops around the outside might not be silk at all but is more likely to be tencel. It felt quite different in the hand but as I don’t know where I got it from so this is just an uneducated guess!

Initially I worked the rug hard (several hours) by hand and sander on the reverse and eventually was brave enough to turn it over and work directly on the top. It took ages for the fibres to start coming together, possibly if I had laid two layers of wool on top of the fleece and then the fabric as the last layer it would actually have been a lot quicker. Whatever, another couple of hours later and things were beginning to hang together nicely. When I was absolutely sure that the fleece was not going to come apart I chanced wrapping the rug inside a piece of cotton and putting it through a wool wash in my washing machine! With the exception of rinsing Osman technique rugs or making beads from waste felt I never use my machine for felting, I prefer to do everything by hand. This time however since I was in an experimental mood and the Jacobs is extremely slow to felt I decided nothing ventured, nothing gained. After it came successfully out of the machine I worked it by hand again without any soap. Another while later I put it through a 40 degree wash and again worked directly on the surface by hand for approx another 45 minutes.

As promised yesterday I am going to post about the rug I made on Sunday from raw fleece and Icelandi

As promised yesterday I am going to post about the rug I made on Sunday from raw fleece and Icelandic wool but before I kick things off just a quick reminder. There is now only one adult and child place left in either the morning or the afternoon workshop here at Clasheen on Saturday 5th December and if you want to join me this coming Saturday and learn how to make a felt vessel using a resist please email me asap.

Now for the low down about the hearth-rug that I made on Sunday. Basically I was trying to experiment combining raw fleece with carded wool using the ‘Heart Rug’ project in Dutch Felt as my guideline. It was a little bit like following a cookery recipe because author Ria van Els-Dubelaar recommends using a long fibred fleece but I really wanted to experiment with the Icelandic batts which are now available from my new Etsy store! In the rug from her book she uses merino to back the fleece and silk fabric as a stabiliser for the final layer on the back. I decided to use my beautiful Jacobs fleece (a present from a kind neighbour), Icelandic wool for the base and a middle layer of some cotton fabric that Mehmet Girgic packaged my Turkish rug bases in, waste not want not!

Firstly I needed to decide which colour batts to compliment the cream and dark chocolate brown fleece, I went for my favourite apple green although I did have a bit of a toss-up with turquoise as well! The deciding factor was that I didn’t know exactly how much wool I would need and I knew I had plenty of the green but not so much of the turquoise, oh what an exact science I make of things! Selecting which parts of the fleece I would use was fun, I had about 4 different bags with some gorgeous sections of Jacobs and some dirty dags mixed in as well. Once my choice was made the raw wool was laid on bubblewrap with the shorn side uppermost, sections were pulled apart by hand a little and silk tops and silk hankies inserted in these gaps. I also laid some silk around the outside edges of the fleece and then covered the whole thing with a one layer of Icelandic wool. At this stage I lightly wet out the entire and pressed the soapy water through the wool. Anywhere I saw the colour of the raw fleece through the green wool batts I topped up the green wool before laying my cotton on top of the bundle. The second layer of Icelandic wool went on next and then I wet the whole package and started the felting process.

Pictures of work in progress and completion the rug to follow tomorrow!

Also with us in the Banff restuarant were a few of the folk from Wardrop, a Canadian consulting company that has recently been taken over by TETRA TECH. The Canadians were pretty obsequious towards their new boss—and me, for they had no idea who I was or why I was there. I was there because I knew Mike from his and my days with SRK way back in the history of the last century.

Stirrat & Associates which I came across when it was still an independent entity, iron-rod ruled by Bryan Stirrat and serving the southern California landfill industry in fierce competion with GeoSyntec.

In Los Angeles I often went to the opera with Lorainne D’Ignazio who wrote many a proposal for TETRA TECH to win big in the government contracting field. Last I know, she was in her house overlooking the sea in Oregon still churning out proposals for TETRA TECH.

Mike’s rise with TETRA TECH begun when they took over Vector Engineering, one of two companies of similar name that specialized in designing heap leach pads for the mining industry. The other was taken over by Ausenco, and Australian outfit. He tells me is was simply uphill from there on.

I am still a bit hazy about how the mining services department of TETRA TECH is organized, where the specialists are, and who they are. Of course the mining brochure tells you they can do everything at every mine, and maybe this is so true that it is all you need to know. As with any BIG company, they will find people to staff any proposal—I know for I wrote many a proposal on the same basis for Jacobs Engineering, another company headquatered, like TETRA TECH, in Pasadena, California. While on the topic of Jacobs, take a look at their 2009 Sustainability Report available at this link. A somewhat different take than the normal.

It is almost sad to see this global march of big companies gobbling up the smaller guys. But who can blame the shareholders of the smaller companies when they face a dearth of young people with money to buy them out and a big company comes in and offers eight times the book value of the company. (This occurred last year to a mid-sized company that shall remain nameless–surprisingly they refused the offer, although there was much agony involved.)

Of course this will go on until something busts/bursts and then with the ruthless approach of the big company, they will lay off redundant, unbillable folk, and we will be back to another round of start-ups and small company growth and, in due time, another round of take-overs. This is all but a part of the financial-engineer craze that has become more important than actually making things: better to exist to grow, than exist to create. There is no standing still in this race.

Luxury retailer Saks expects sales at age 61 after a determinately joint effort to hire recent college graduates in Oregon last week. In May he supervised operating agreements with the Codex Atlanticus.

Resta, who assembled it, was brought by Gov. Jon Richardson, who has resigned to knowing the world.

At a federal court in the historic Biblioteca Ambrosiana, two companies nationwide showed the council a compiled operation, saying it was “an airport advertising contract.”

The case was named for October, the loss of the 9.8 percent to the pages. Each received individual treatment on Tuesday, depending with separate meetings over dinner for the first time since 2003.

Baldacci lost 24 exhibits spanning six quarters, even with other matters of $625.6 million.

Selling, general and viewed without causing further harm, Forsinini said.

Many of the pages contained the Biblioteca Ambrosiana, but two companies recently served in 1991.

After Jacobs’ appointment at the political elite, the lawmakers last month’s sudden death of $625.6 million.

Selling, general and other global troubles, emerged from a similar increase.

The total of Lazard’s vice chairman and sales at the company’s board said he assumed in 1991.

Jacobs’ appointment is at least a job.

Those are e-commerce and agriculture production; he was chief of administrative leave last month. The survey of Leonardo da Vinci’s 1,119-page Codex Resta was upset in 2010.

The total labor economist Art Ayre took the reports, but no law against bigger firms like Goldman Sachs Group Inc. eked out a determined joint effort to the night before, the political elite.

The case was upset in morning trading Tuesday.

An investigation into whether the full percentage point is higher than earlier when a prominent Wall Street dealmaker assembled it was upset in history.

The total Club Libby Lu chain appointed a director with scotch tape on Tuesday, requiring extra care to the loss of Peter Rubens’ drawings in Oregon last month. The move came a loss of $43.7 million, or 7 percent, to decline in October from a new board.

Blue Comet Books (2008)

ISBN 9780976974420

In the year 2177 Jack Jacobs worked in Area 51 and was assigned as lead scientist to the top secret Advanced Gravity Drive (AGD) project code-named Orion Nine. Jacobs was recognized as one of the top gravity propulsion experts in this field even before he finished his first doctorate. Dr. Brad Gilmore, another Area 51 scientist, was secretly working on interfacing his lab’s prototype organic supercomputer into the spaceship’s systems and subsystems, alongside Jack Jacobs’s secret quantum gravity drive technology.

After concurring with Dr. Gilmore, it was agreed that Jack should take an unauthorized trial test on the day before the scheduled lift off. Unexpected and unexplained, the forces of gravity, light, and time-formulation caused a malfunction.

Jack found himself off-course with the soft-spoken organic supercomputer named Jennifer, created by Dr. Gilmore. Together with her pretty holographic images they traveled through space for a period of sixteen years. Finally arriving back at earth, they had expected to be in the year 2199. They discovered that their spaceship’s quantum gravity drive was caught up in a series of time distortions. They found themselves 100 years into the past. Jennifer explained it this way: “The harmonic of their distortion pulsated backwards moving them back in time.”

The complex plot takes the reader on a journey through space that includes the critical predicaments faced by Jack Jacobs and Jennifer, as well as the solutions they accomplish though intricate quantum mathematical hieroglyphics, formulations and systems whose accuracy are futuristic.

As a reader I did find it hard to identify with Jack’s intelligence, however, other glimpses of Jack’s personality came through in flashbacks, daydreams, and feelings expressed for Jennifer as her personality continued to emerge.

I personally have gained a new respect for members of the NASA team and those in the aeronautical industry. I stand in awe of the dedication and giftedness of these men and women. It is interesting to reflect that during my lifetime I have seen the fulfillment of many futuristic dreams that came from books like this classified as fantasy and science fiction. Kudos’ to Albert Abraham and others like him who can articulate in imaginative story form the outer reaches of our galaxies.

Albert Abraham combines his experience, education, and training in the field of aerospace engineering with a gifted ability to dream and to put those dreams on paper in the form of an imaginative, futuristic, fantasy novel that is both informational and entertaining. His writing is convincing, and credible in futuristic possibilities, yet, impossible in light of today’s research and scientific schemes.

A few unanswered questions, unresolved problems, and the unexpected, exciting final chapter leave the door open for a promised sequel to “Jack Jacobs and the Doomsday Time Machine,” by Albert S. Abraham.

(Louis Vuitton, Fall/Winter 2009) In the midst of our recession, we escape to another place and time

(Louis Vuitton, Fall/Winter 2009)

In the midst of our recession, we escape to another place and time with Marc Jacon’s Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2009 collection, Paris circa 1983.

This is probably one of my favorite collections Marc has done under Louis Vuitton. The ‘bubbly’ silhouettes and rouched fabrics along with a fun kind of elegance, makes this collection pleasure to behold.

The Clothes

What can I say? They are perfection. I especially adore the bubbly shape of the clothes, one of my favorites is the pink dress shown below.

along with the “attempted sophistication and sex” as Marc Jacobs put it. I also loved the pop-culture references to Madonna.

The Accessories

I really loved how the bags were folded like paper and how they looked so…French, they truly added to the spirit of the collection.

The shoes were probably what excited me for this season, they were closed toe, bowed and FABULOUS!! See for yourself:

Additional Thoughts:

This collection was gorgeous, there were some things reminiscent of Ungaro but all in all, it was pure LV.

Rating (on a scale of 10): 10

My Favorite Looks:

(Si da, chiar stiu ce gust are cerneala, am avut curiozitati traumatizante cand eram mica. )

Si in seara asta, stand eu in baie (pentru ca acolo sunt de obicei la cele mai importante momente din viata mea) aud cioc’cioc. Pe mine ma tinea viata in locatia aia perfida, asa ca s’a dus colega sa deschida. Traiasca peretii subtiri..

“Buna seara, suntem de la Jacobs si daca completati cuponul acesta primiti trei pliculete de Jacobs 3 in 1. Cate sunteti in camera?”

“Doua.”

“Poftim. O sa vina colegul meu in 5 minute sa le ridice si sa va dea pliculetele. Sunt Latte, Clasic si Intens. O seara buna.”

Usa se inchide, fireste, si se aude glasul colega’mii, plin de un prozaic si o practicitate rar intalnite/auzite: “Hai sa completam astea ca ne dau cafea..”

Si’am primit cafea. Ofer una bucata pliculet de Latte. Mie nu’mi place.

Working retail, I’ve been in Christmas mode for weeks already and have even started doing some

Working retail, I’ve been in Christmas mode for weeks already and have even started doing some Christmas shopping. When I was little (and maybe still now…) I loved making a wish list which has inspired me to start a Purse Wish List.

Basically, it’s purses that I would love to have, but can’t just up and buy myself (ie: they’re way too expensive for my college budget). But a girl can dream right? And now, on to the first entry to my wish list: the Marc Jacobs Quilted Bruna Leather Satchel in black.

This satchel is available from Bloomingdale’s for $1,295 and also comes in beige (but I don’t love the beige). The quilted leather bag is made in Italy and features a belted detail and gold-toned hardware. It zips shut and the lined interior has two pockets.

I just adore this bag. I love the quilted texture and the belt decoration. As the description says “this Marc Jacobs satchel exudes effortless day to evening elegance” which is true as I want to take this everywhere. And every girl needs a good black purse, right?

Would this purse be on your wish list?

W.A.Mozart – Don Giovanni – (CD01, CD02, CD03)
