An iPhone 4S running iOS 6.0.1 has been jailbroken, shown here in this video:

As you can see in the video, someone with the Twitter handle @Mr_DuNh1ll seems to have achieved a jailbreak of an iPhone 4S on iOS 6.0.1.

Now, for the bad news.

According to @Mr_DuNh1ll’s Twitter account, the jailbreak is currently tethered and there are still some problems (he did not go into specifics, it is Twitter after all).

However, he did also say that the jailbreak is one exploit away from being untethered on an A5X chip.  How’s that for a silver lining?

According to the Chronic Dev Team this is another fake jailbreak.  The video was created by a relatively unknown group of hackers known as the ARB dev team, and is unfortunately relatively easy to fake with a developer account.  For more, check out this article from International Digital Times: ARTICLE

WARNING PART I

I would like to issue a warning to those who choose to jailbreak their phones.  A quick web search for “iPhone 5 jailbreak” yields a plethora of false advertisements to jailbreak or unlock the iPhone 5 or 4S.  This is the basic ad that is shown:

This same ad is shown on at least two different websites: safera1n.com and UnlockOrJailbreak.com.  These ads are fake.  If you pay for these false services you will most likely lose your money, or it will be an exceedingly frustrating process of getting it back.  They do not have a miracle solution to jailbreak or unlock your iPhone 5 or 4S running iOS 6.

There is currently no available jailbreak for the iPhone 5 or 4S running iOS 6.  I repeat, there is currently no available jailbreak for the iPhone 5 or 4S running iOS 6.

WARNING PART II

In addition, Apple released an update a couple of days ago to iOS: iOS 6.0.1.  This update is available as an over-the-air update, or you can download it on your computer.  However, if you rely on a jailbreak to unlock and use your phone, DO NOT UPDATE!  Updating will cause you to lose access to your jailbreak and all that it offers.

If you are waiting to jailbreak your iPhone 5 or 4S running iOS 6, again, DO NOT UPDATE!  The iPhone Dev Team may or may not have the ability to jailbreak the latest iOS offering, and it is better to wait and see what they decide to do.

We’re a little bit late to the party on this one, but if you haven’t seen this new OS X Pad HD theme for the iPad, you have to check it out. You’ve seen OS X themes before, but you’ve never seen anything like this.

The theme has a fully functional Finder bar with interactive menu options, a customizable dock, and editable folders that look just like real OS X folders. It almost seems more like a software upgrade than a theme.

The developer claims that OS X Pad HD is “the most advanced Mac OS X experience available for the iPad,” and we’re having a hard time disagreeing. This is certainly one of the most comprehensive Mac-based themes we’ve ever seen.

So how do you get it on your iPad? Well for starters, you have to be jailbroken, and you have to have DreamBoard installed. If you meet those two requirements, add http://fnetdesigns.com/cydia/repo to your Cydia sources and download the Theme Outlet store app. This is where you’ll be able to find and install OS X Pad.

Both DreamBoard and The Theme Outlet store are free downloads, but the theme itself is $3.50. But given the amount of polish and features this particular theme has, it might just be worth it. If you’re skeptical, however, be sure to stay tuned to iDB for a full review. I suspect Jeff will be along soon to work his magic.

There is a new way to play Super Nintendo on your jailbroken iPhone.

In the Cydia store there are many emulators but most of them fail when it comes to layout or sound.

Snes9x EX is available for free and lets you:

- Load games stored in your device

- Save your game

- Use Wiimote

You will need to download ROMs separately and store them using iFile:

1. Open Downloads Lite

2. Go to coolrom.com

3. Download the ROM you want to play

4. Download and open iFile – it costs $4 with a free trial

5. Go to /var/mobile/Applications/Download and copy the .smc file

6. Paste the .smc file in the ROM folder

You can now start enjoying Super Nintendo games on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch!
