John Perkins a.k.a Economic Hitman

Pada tahun 2004 John Perkins telah menulis Confession of an Economic Hit Man – Pengakuan Tukang Pukul Ekonomi. Buku ini melakar bagaimana Perkins direkrut oleh National Security Agency (NSA) untuk menjaga kepentingan kaum pemodal antarabangsa.

Untuk menghalalkan tugas – Perkins – telah dimasukkan bekerja disebuah syarikat konsultan ekonomi. Ini hanyalah baju yang dipakai oleh Perkins kerana syarikat ini memiliki hubungan rapat dengan NSA. Sebagai penasehat ekonomi Perkins merayau-rayau ke Indonesia, Panama, Ecuador, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, Iran dan negara yang dianggap memiliki potensi ekonomi.

Tugas Perkins cukup enteng : dia akan menasehatkan pemimpin negara-negara ini untuk membuat projek-projek mega ( seperti projek Bakun). Perkins tidak memiliki masaalah untuk bertemu dengan pemimpin politik negara-negara Dunia Ketiga. Ini kerana Perkins sedar bahawa pemimpin negara-negara ini apabila mendengar ada Mat Saleh ingin bertemu mereka maka mulut dan buntut mereka ternganga luas.

Perkins akan dijemput untuk menghadiri pelbagai seminar dan mesyuarat ( seperti Invest Malaysia 2009) dan dijemput dalam perbincangan percambahan pendapat. Akhirnya Perkins akan membuat dan mengajukan kertas-kerja dan cadangan untuk memunculkan projek mega. Dalam masa yang sama melalui Perkins – Bank Dunia atau IMF atau bank-bank lain akan bersiap sedia mengeluarkan dana.

Projek mega ini adalah cara ‘merasuah’ para pemimpin dan kroni para politikus Dunia Ketiga. Projek-projek ini tidak ada sangkut paut dengan kepentingan ekonomi warga negara itu walau pun dengan lunak Perkins akan menggambarkan bagaimana projek mega ini akan memberi manafaat untuk rakyat. Ini hanya kelentong.

Kontrektor-kontrektor projek, pekakas pembuatan – semuanya didatangkan dari nasehat Perkins. Projek ini akan menggunakan pakar-pakar ‘Mat Saleh ‘ yang dibayar dengan lumayan berbanding dengan pakar tempatan. Perkins melahirkan pekerjaan untuk para Mat Saleh yang di panggil ‘expert’.

Dalam masa yang sama Perkins cukup sedar banyak dana ini akan masuk ke dalam poket para pemimpin negara ini. Ini adalah sebahagian dari strateji Perkins. Ini perangkap yang sengaja dipasang.

Sedikit demi sedikit negara ini akan terhutang dengan lembaga-lembaga bank antarabanga – IMF, World Bank, European Bank dan pelbagai lembaga dana yang bekerja erat dengan Perkins. Bunga dan hutang ini akan meningkat. Ini menambahkan lagi beban negara. Perkins akan mengusulkan cara terbaik untuk mencari dana agar dapat membayar hutang dan bunga.

Cadangan Perkins : subsidi dihapuskan. Barangan kawalan makanan dilupuskan. Impot dibesarkan. Barangan ekspot dimurahkan. Nilai ringgit dikurangkan dengan alasan akan menarik orang luar membeli barangan ekspot.

Akhirnya – akan sampai satu masa – dimana hutang bagitu menjerut untuk negara ini. Maka Perkins akan ‘ menasehatkan’ para politikus agar Pertamina memberikan hak untuk Exxon cari gali di Ambalat –misalnya yang terjadi di Indonesia. Ini perangkap awal.

Jika pemimpin politik ini memiliki perasaan nasionalisma dan enggan tunduk atau berdegil maka akan di hantar apa yang di panggil ‘ The Jackals’. Mosaddeq di Iran menjadi mangsa pada thun 1953. Presiden Guatemala pada tahun 1954 menjadi mangsa agar bumi negaranya selamat untuk dijadikan ladang pisang United Fruits Company. Sukarno pada thun 1965. Ecuador pada thun 1981.

Mari kita melihat kes klasik sejarah Terusan Panama yang telah dimilik negarakan oleh Omar Torrijos pada thun 1977. Kemudian pada July 31, 1981 kapalterbang yang dinaikinya meletup di udara. Sesudah Torrijos mati Amerika kembali mendapat hak untuk meletakkan tenteranya di Terusan Panama. Khalas.

Di negara kita sendiri perkara yang sama pasti berlaku. Dasar Ekonomi Baru yang dilakar oleh Razak Hussein telah mengenepikan kepentingan pemodal antarabangsa. Kaum pemodal ini merasa kurang senang dengan dasar ini. Melalui media dunia mereka terus mempertikaikan dasar ini.

Dasar ini juga di kritik oleh kapitalis nasional dan kapitalis komprador yang suaranya diwakili oleh MCA. Ketika itu air, api, talikom, universiti, jalan raya, hospital, tanah Felda, Felcra, SEDC – semuanya adalah milik orang ramai i.e milik negara.

Kritikan dasar ini tidak ada sangkut paut dengan kepentingan Mak Jah peniaga warong di Gombak atau Pak Huseing pembuat budu di Pengkalan Chepa. Kritikan ini datang dari kaum kapitalis yang tidak dapat membuat keuntungan maksima.

Apabila Mahathir naik semua ini diubah. Untuk mendapat sokongan kapitalis komprador dan kapitalis nasional: baca pemodal Cina – Mahathir telah menswastakan harta rakyat ini. Maka gembiralah dan berkundurilah kaum kapitalis ini. Harta kekayaan mereka bertimbun tambah. Laporan terbaru membuktikan bagaimana 58 bilion ringgit harta negara di sawastakan hanya 2 bilion ringgit sahaja yang menjadi milik Melayu.

Mahathir naik tocang apabila dinobatkan oleh kaum pemodal ( kaum pemodal Cina) sebagai penjana pembangunan. ( Ini tidak ada sangkut paut dengan Mak Cik Limah di Felda Chomomoi atau Haji Timah tuan punya warong di Senawang.)

Dasar Ekonomi Baru ini hakikatnya adalah dasar ekonomi kapitalis yang penuh dengan percanggahan. Dasar ini bercita-cita untuk memunculkan ‘zaibatsu’ Melayu/Bumiputera. Ini hanyalah mimpi tegang yang tidak pancut-pancut. Cita-cita ini tidak mungkin tercapai hingga bumi meletup. Kalau tupai beranakkan gajah pun dasar ini tidak akan tercapai.

Dasar DEB ini tidak akan berjaya kerana dalam hukum ekonomi kapitalis – apa boleh jual akan di jual – apa yang boleh di beli akan dibeli. Dalam ekonomi kapitalis tidak ada agama atau bangsa. Setiap kali modal dilabor untuk Melayu ianya pasti akan bertalian dengan ekonomi Cina yang telah lama kukuh. Ini belum diambil kira rasuah.

Tidak mungkin semua orang Melayu/Bumiputera akan dapat di kayakan. Pemodal memerlukan buruh yang boleh diupah murah. Pemodal memerlukan pengguna untuk membeli. Kalau Melayu semua kaya siapa pula yang akan menjadi buruh di ladang sawit, penanam padi, penangkap ikan dan Minah Karan dan Mat Spana?

Dasar Ekonomi Baru ini hanyalah satu kelentongan/tipu helah dimana para politikus Melayu berkumpul membuat dasar atas nama Melayu. Dengan bersandarkan keMelayuan maka para politikus Melayu ini dapat ‘merembat’ harta negara.

Pada ketika DEB dimulakan pergaduhan Melayu/Bukan Melayu baru selesai. Kapitalis nasional dan kapitalis komprador tidak berani menyuarakan tentangan pada ketika itu. Mereka melihat dari jangka panjang kepentingan mereka lebih terjaga dengan dasar ini. Anggapan mereka cukup tepat. Siapa dia Lim Goh Tong, siapa dia Ananda Krishnan, siapa dia Vincent Tan ?

Dasar untuk menjadikan 30% harta kekayaan negara ini dimiliki oleh Melayu/Bumiputera adalah mimpi kosong dan dasar yang salah. Tidak perlu membuat kajian ilmiah – pergi sahaja keluar dari Kuala Lumpur dan lihat sendiri kehidupan orang-orang di kampong. Memang betul ada perubahan. Kalau dulu pada tahun 1974 di Kampong Chenor ( kampong saya ) tidak ada leterik dan air – hari ini telah ada.

Tetapi air dan leterik kini dimiliki oleh pemodal tuan empunya saham.. Hospital dimiliki oleh pemodal tuan empunya saham.. Sekolah dan univeristi dimiliki oleh pemodal tuan empunya saham.. Jalan raya dimiliki oleh pemodal tuan empunya saham. Talipon dimiliki oleh pemodal tuan empunya saham. Ini bezanya. Ini hakikat.

Dua minggu dahulu Najib telah membuat dasar liberalisasi. Perkataan LIBERALISASI ini perkataan hampeh. Ini perkataan putar alam bertujuan untuk mengelirukan kefahaman yang tuntas kepada orang ramai terutama kepada Mak Cik dan Pak Cik Felda. Liberalisasi bermakna : Syarikat antarabangsa dibenarkan berniaga bebas dalam negara ini.

Dua hari dahulu Najib Razak telah mengubah satu jalur DEB. Kaum pemodal pasti akan mengalu-alukan dasar ini. Ertinya pasaran Malaysia terkangkang luas untuk di entot. Ertinya tidak ada lagi halangan untuk sesiapa sahaja memiliki harta kekayaan negara ini. ( Kalau saya kapitalis saya akan terpancut siang dan malam dan meleleh air liur melihat harta negara ini boleh dimiliki ).

Kenapa Najib membuat dasar baru ini ?

Cukup senang untuk memahaminya. Najib memiliki masaalah peribadi yang berat. Jangan silap baca ini tidak ada sangkut paut dengan berat badan isteri Najib. Berat di sini bermakna berat dari segi politik. Contohnya : Parti yang dipimpin oleh Najib tidak lagi mendapat sokongan rakyat. Retak retak kelihatan dalam gabungan Barisan Nasional. Dan paling menakutkan Najib apabila kaum kapitalis komprador dan kapitalis nasional: baca – pemodal Cina – telah menjauhkan diri dari Najib.

Dalam masa yang sama media antarabangsa terus menghantui Najib dengan kes pembunuhan Altantuya gadis cun dari Mongolia. Media luar ini adalah alat pembesar suara untuk memastikan kepentingan kaum pemodal antarabangsa terjaga rapi. Kuam pemodal antarabangsa ini telah lama ingin merembat harta kekayaan negara ini.

Hantu dan polong-polong puaka ini perlu dijaga.

Najib wajib melakukan sesuatu. Seperti Mahathir menswastakan harta negara untuk kaum komprador dan kapitalis nasional maka Najib Razak menswastakan seluruh bumi Malaysia ini untuk kepentingan kelas kapitalis dalam dan luar negara. Inilah hakikat dari dasar ekonomi yang akan dijalankan oleh Najib Razak.

Dimana Perkins Kaki Pukul sedang bersemayam?

Jangan risau si Perkins ini masih wujud. Perkins telah menghatar budak suruhannya dari Singapura. Lupa projek mega – Jambatan Ketiga ?

Perkins-Perkins ini mungkin ada jaringan dalam EPU. Si Perkins ini mungkin masih bersarang di Tingkat Empat atau ingin pindah ke tempat yang lebih tinggi seperti di Menara Petronas. Si Perkins sedang berselerak menjalankan tugas untuk memastikan kepentingan kaum kapitalis akan didahulukan.

Dasar Ekonomi Baru atau Dasar Pedekatan Baru ini semuanya TIDAK akan memberi apa-apa manafaat kepada rakyat biasa. Dasar ini tidak ada sangkut paut dengan kepentingan Gopal pemandu teksi dari Segambut. Dasar ini tidak ada sangkut paut dengan Swee Heng peniaga nasi Itek di Jalan Petaling. Dasar ini tidak ada sangkut paut dengan Hajah Limah pembekal kerepek ubi dari Sijangkang.

Rakyat biasa tidak berjudi di bursa saham. Rakyat biasa tidak tahu apa itu ‘pink form’. Rakyat biasa tidak memahami turun naiknya Nasdaq atau Index Heng Seng. Rakyat biasa mahu keselesaan dan bukan mahu di ikat dengan pelbagai gaya/cara – cukai/tol/bil hospital/bil air/bil api/ bil sewa rumah/cukai rumah – dimana mereka wajib dan dipaksa mengeluarkan duit yang tidak mereka miliki.

Dasar ekonomi terbuka dan terkangkang ini akan menjemput kapitalis antarabangsa – dengan alasan untuk melabor dan membawa modal. Ini betul-betul hujah dari kertas kerja John Perkins. Inilah cara yang digunakan oleh Perkins untuk memastikan sesebuah negara itu akhirnya akan dapat dijajah kembali.

Satu kerajaan yang baik adalah kerajaan yang berkiblatkan rakyat. Sebuah kerajaan yang adil tidak akan mempedulikan kepentingan kaum kapitalis kerana mereka menghisap darah warga negara. Dasar yang wajib dinobatkan ialah dasar dimana kepentingan ramai mendahului kepentingan pribadi. Kepentingan ramai menjadi nakhoda dan juragan.

Kerajaan yang adil ialah sebuah pentabiran yang telus dimana dasar ekonominya akan menobatkan kepentingan kaum buruh dan tani. Ini kerana dari tenaga kaum buruh dan kuam tani inilah munculnya modal. Modal muncul dari tenaga manusia. Modal bukan wang ringgit. Wang ringgit adalah tanda nilai tenaga dan fikrah manusia. Modal datang dari tenaga warga negara itu sendiri.

Modal bukan datang dari IMF atau Bank Dunia Bank. Duit dari IMF atau Bank Dunia itu adalah hasil rompakan dari tenaga buruh dan tani dari seluruh dunia.

Justeru dasar Menjual Felda mungkin dilihat dapat mengumpulkan modal. Awas! Menjual Felda samalah seperti Lebai Sudin di Kuala Nerang yang hanya memiliki sebuah rumah dan 3 relong sawah. Satu hari untuk membaiki atap rumahnya Lebai Sudin telah menjualkan 3 relong tanah sawahnya kepada …….(TT)

For the first tutorial on Thursday, Ned taught us about Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), which refers to the technologies used for transmitting voice communications over the internet. VoIP can turn internet communication from just plain instant messaging to instant videocalls, and now screen-sharing. Skype is an example of such a VoIP.

Free calls over the internet was something that I’ve never thought of before.  Not until I was in Year 1 and my project group mates suggested we Skype did I find out about it. That was in 2007, by the way.

Adding to the benefit of convenience, laptops these days even come equipped with little webcams installed. You don’t necessarily have to bring a webcam to attach it to your laptop, use the in-built one! This makes communication between people from different countries/states/provinces so much more easier. Meetings can be held online anytime, anywhere, which also means that you may have to get up really early for meetings if the other party is in a totally different timezone. =/

Skype may offer these benefits, but it still does not allow for multiple users to have video conversations.

That’s why Ned even introduced another website for us to make use of VoIP: MeBeam! There are many other websites that provide other alternatives: Gizmo Project, Google Talk, Jajah,VoIPBuster, etc.

We were having such fun doing this, even our lecturer Ms Kwa who still keeps denying the fun she had. By the way, this picture was taken by her, that’s why she’s not in it. =/

Too bad MeBeam doesn’t allow audio though. >.<

Its a pity that in Korea, only providers registered with the government are authorized to offer VoIP services. Korean VoIP services are generally metered and charged at rates similar to terrestrial calling, unlike many VoIP providers who offer flat rates. No wonder Mom hasn’t asked me about setting up Skype for her to talk to our relatives.

After all that, Kell presented on podcasting and taught us about the free software Audacity.

We downloaded it and tried tweaking the pitch and speed of the songs we chose. We also watched a short video clip of how Kell used the software for her GEMs module (podcasting). LOL I didn’t know this software was capable of doing all that. And its free too. No wonder podcasts

Podcasts are content that one chooses to create or download other podcasts to listen to. We can choose what we want to listen to on our music players. With podcasts you don’t have to wait to hear something that interests you. You choose what you want to listen to.

Essentially, a podcast is an audio file that is automatically received from the internet and then synced to your MP3 player. The files are received by subscribing to what’s called a podcast feed.

Just from reading these articles (referenced below) it seems like we’re not fully utilising the internet’s RSS and podcasting feeds at all. =/ Myself included.

Generally, I don’t listen to podcasts. I listen to live radio occasionally. For me, I prefer watching Youtube videos instead of listening to podcasts, because I have a personal preference for more “viewable” entertaiment. However, I am thinking of listening to podcasts of maybe, KBS or Arirang radio, if there are of course. Would have to go do some more research on this topic first!

Forget 140-character text-based tweets. Twitter users can now send audio tweets to each other using a third-party service from Internet communication provider Jajah. The service, whose beta name is Jajah@call, gives Twitter users the chance to make two-way calls with other users by typing “@call @username.”

Jajah’s free service allows Twitter users to tweet friends and strangers alike, as Jajah@call keeps phone numbers private. And just like text-based tweets, users may ignore the audio tweet and choose not to respond.
Jajah@call limits each audio tweet to two minutes, but that may change when the service moves out of beta.

What this means for business….?
Super-connected consumers have an interest, if not a curiosity, in potential audio integration options via social media networks. Vivox offers a third-party voice option for Second Life users and recently announced its third-party voice service for Facebook. It probably won’t be long before more mainstream social media sites start creating their own call services.
New Twitter applications spell new potential monetary options for marketers and Twitter users alike.

Phone Calling Coming to Twitter. Twitter users on Thursday, for the first time, be able to make voice calls directly to each other through the microblogging service.
A new third-party offering from Jajah known as Jajah@call is expected to go into beta Thursday morning that will allow Twitter users to initiate a two-way voice chat with other users by typing “@call @username”–where “username” is someone’s Twitter ID–into any Twitter client. During the beta period, the company said, the calls will be limited to two minutes, but the company will evaluate that length during beta. However, it sees the two minute period–after which the call will end–as “the verbal equivalent of a tweet.”

According to Jajah, an Internet communications provider with tens of millions of users, the service will allow a user to place a call to any other user, so long as the second person follows the first on Twitter and both have Jajah accounts. The service is free to use and is expected to work on any Twitter-enabled device, from PCs to smart phones.
One important element of the service is that users can keep their phone numbers private, yet be able to have voice chats with just about anyone on Twitter. To be sure, since the calls are initiated by one person, the recipient may well not be online, or may choose to ignore the call if they don’t want to talk.
There are currently several applications that allow users to create voice-to-text Twitter posts–known as tweets–but it does not appear that anyone has yet made it possible to initiate voice communications directly between Twitter users.

Coming on the heels of the announcement earlier this week that Facebook users will now be able to communicate with each other via voice–using a third-party application from Vivox–it’s clear that there is a strong interest, among service providers, at least, in taking leading social networks beyond strictly text communications. Whether large numbers of users choose to get on board is unknown at this point, of course. And given that neither the Facebook nor the Twitter voice services are being provided by the social networks themselves means that some users will choose not to get involved for fear of privacy, stability or other concerns.

Still, if these third-party services end up being successful, it would be natural to expect that Facebook and Twitter may decide they need to step up and directly embed such technologies into their offerings. And there is a precedent for such a move. After Vivox began offering Second Life users a third-party voice solution, the virtual world’s publisher, Linden Lab, decided it needed to take advantage of the technology. Today, thanks to a formal partnership, Vivox’s voice service is formally integrated into Second Life.
And while it may be some time before such a thing happens with either Facebook or Twitter, or any other major social network, one would have to think that it’s only a matter of time

Twitter-focused applications are sprouting up everywhere these days — among them TweetDeck, Twhirl and Kutano — and they’re proving to be popular. Some 27 percent of Twitter users said they primarily access the micromessaging network using such apps, according to an inaugural study released today by Crowd Science, a technology research company.

Among some of the other notable findings in the study: Four in 10 Twitter users said they prefer contacting friends using social media than over the phone (which could either hurt or help Jajah’s @Call offering, which uses the company’s VoIP service to let users call friends for free via the Twitter network.) And in line with previous results from the Harvard Business School, the study found that on a daily basis, only a quarter of Twitter users tweet while 46 percent check status updates. Additionally, 24 percent of registered Twitter users have either stopped tweeting since they first signed up or have never tweeted at all.

In a very Skype-like move, Twitter has announced that it will provide users with the ability to Tweet vocally with free two minute calls between Tweeters.

This will allow users (or addicts) of the micro-blogging site to speak to each other without needing to know specific phone numbers.

The service is being launched by online telephony site Jajah, which requires you to register with your phone number and Twitter name.

To make a call you’ll just need to tweet “@call @twittername”, which will ring both your phone and your Tweeting partner’s handset. After your Tweeting two minutes is up, the line will automatically cut out.

While this provides a great way to get in contact with someone on Twitter, it also looks like a new means for spammers to get on your nerves. Neither Jajah nor Twitter have outlined how you can avoid calls from someone wanting to offer you a lost inheritance in Nigeria.

The service is currently being trialed in the US, but we’ll be sure to see it on this side of the Atlantic before long.

De acordo com o portal UOL, a empresa JAJAH colocou uma aplicação em fase beta no microblog que permite aos usuários conversarem entre si em ligações grátis de até 2 minutos, o que equivaleria a um post no Twitter.
As pessoas que se interessarem pelo serviço devem enviar um tweet com “@call, @username”, no qual o nome do perfil de quem vai receber a ligação vai em “username”.

Brevemente, todos os utilizadores de Twitter poderão fazer chamadas de voz gratuitas, tudo graças à JaJah que desenvolveu um novo serviço de tecnologia VoIP para esta rede social.

Chama-se @call e neste momento está em versão beta, assim que estiver disponível, os utilizadores desta rede social poderão fazer chamadas de curta duração (até 2 minutos). Segundo a empresa, este novo serviço poderá ser utilizado tanto no seu site como em sites de parceiros e mesmo nas versões para telemóvel do Twitter.

Será necessário ter conta no Twitter e no JaJah para poder efectuar as chamadas gratuitas.

Desde el 16 de septiembre JAJAH, editor de soluciónes de VoIP para grandes empresas como Microsoft y Yahoo, ofrece un nuevo servicio a los usurios de Twitter, llamado @call: llamar por telefono mediante Twitter.

La version Beta del servicio @call permite llamar desde Twitter o de un servicio como Seesmic o desde su Smartphone utilizando Twitterrific o Tweetie.

Sin embargo, puede permanecer dudas sobre las reacciones de los operadores móviles en EE.UU. ya que el iPhone no puede hacer llamadas de VoIP.

¿Cómo funciona?

Para llamar a un contacto en el ejemplo @twitempresas, hay que introducir @ call @ twitempresas. Esa comanda le conecta a los servidores de Jajah y le llama a su contacto.

Para hacer o recibir una llamada se requiere que ambos utilisadores sean registrados en Jajah y que se envia un e-mail a twitter@jajah.com.

Una vez registrado, Jajah le conecta para una llamada gratuita de 2 minutos. Jajah, dijo que este tiempo de llamada es equivalente a un Tweet.

Il sito di micro-blogging Twitter, che ospita messaggi di 140 caratteri al massimo, ora consentira’ anche le microtelefonate.  Saranno chiamate per non piu’ di due minuti, il tempo di un veloce scambio di ”cinguettii’‘ (dal significato della parola in inglese), a voce e non piu’ solo con la tastiera. Una ristretta cerchia di utenti americani da oggi puo’ cimentarsi con le micro-telefonate, grazie a un servizio, ancora in fase sperimentale, di chiamate via Internet (VoIP).

Now here’s a neat technology.

A couple of weeks ago I wrote a post about Telecom 2.0. I also wrote a post about my “ah-ha” moment with Twitter. I called it – Twitter – the light bulb moment. Over the last couple of weeks I started using Twitter more often (and my wife is now calling me a Twit). I won’t tell you what I have started calling her !!

Now, let’s combine Telecom 2.0 and Twitter. What do you get ?

First, let me recap my Twitter post from a couple of weeks ago: (and I quote from that post):

Just as Google has stretched their dominance into so many different elements of the web, Twitter has the same potential to be a technology game changer. The chatter that happens on Twitter is text driven, but, it could be voice, video, or any other form of multi-media driven.

And then, from a customer service perspective, there are so many touch points that hit a service based organization. Phone, email, fax, and new media (like Twitter). Integrating Twitter and other forms of social media into an organization’s operations. For example, someone needing live help could activate a real time command and voice or text into a service organizations help desk.

I was really just speculating, but, expected that in the not to distant future we would see some form of “Tweet to Talk” app get developed for Twitter.

Speaking along the lines of paradigm shift, the next generation of phone systems will be a highly intelligent server, much as they are now. The talk/communicate medium will not necessarily be the bulky phone on your desk, but rather a variety of end point devices.

Skype, Google, Facebook, Twitter, iPhone, Blackberry – these all-in-one appliances will be the talk/communicate path, and the server at the back end will bridge these technologies together. And with the recent news of Silver Lakes (Avaya’s parent company) being part of an investment group buying a 65% stake in Skype, it will now bring together the old and newer emerging technologies.

OK. Enough of the background – I have set the stage for a new app from a company called Jajah@call. I have pulled this description from their web site:

JAJAH gives short messages a voice. With the new JAJAH application, Twitter users can make free phone calls on their favorite microblogging service. Now in Beta, JAJAH@Call allows you to make a free two minute call (the verbal equivalent of a tweet) to other JAJAH@Call users. It’s free, it’s easy and works no matter how you use Twitter, whether it’s on your cellphone, via Seesmic, TweetDeck, or any other way.

Para fazer a ligação, ambos os usuários precisam usar tanto o Twitter como o Jajah. O contato para quem você pretende ligar deve estar seguindo suas atualizações no Twitter e ambos devem estar participando dos testes do @call.

Caso as exigências acima sejam atendidas, basta que usuários digitem “@call @nomedousuário” para que seja estabelecida uma conexão de voz sobre IP entre ambos com dois minutos de conversação no máximo. Durante os testes, o @call servirá apenas para números dos Estados Unidos.

Jajah is privately launching in beta today a voice-over-IP solution that lets people make calls for free via micromessaging site Twitter and other Twitter-related desktop and mobile applications. This is another effort by Jajah to get its VoIP service onto a popular application; last year, the company forged a partnership with Yahoo (s yhoo) to offer its voice services to Yahoo IM users.

When 140 characters isn’t cutting it, simply send a tweet to the person you want to talk to using the format “@call @username.” Jajah will then call your phone and once you pick up, will connect you to your friend. To use Jajah’s @Call service, however, both you and your friend must be registered in the company’s beta group and the person you’re calling must follow you on Twitter. For now, calls can only be two minutes long and only U.S. numbers are supported. Jajah keeps users’ phone numbers private, so you don’t have to worry about anyone getting their hands on personal contact information. The @Call service is compatible with a host of Twitter applications, including Seesmic, Echofon (formerly Twitterfon) and Twitroid.

Mountain View, Calif.-based Jajah isn’t the only company to bring VoIP to a social site. Earlier this week, Vivox privately launched in beta a web voice service for Facebook that lets people have a voice chat with any of their friends on the social network. Users have to download a plug-in to use the service.

The launch of these voice services for social networks have generated a healthy amount of buzz on the web, and only time will tell whether Twitter and Facebook will embed them into their platforms. While these click-to-call services aren’t the sexiest of applications, they’re useful and continue to encourage us to live our social lives on the web.

If you consider yourself to be an early adopter then you might be interested in the Beta Twitter-JAJAH application which allows you to make free two minutes calls (the verbal equivalent of a tweet) to other Twitter users without giving your telephone number away.

You only need to tweet “@call @twittername” and where “twittername” is, type the Twitter name of the person you wish to call. Your phone will then ring and the call is connected. Of course, the other person must be a member of JAJAH for it to work!

BETA invitations have already been sent to selected Twitter accounts. If you’re fortunate to have received one, it will show up under “My Services” / “My Account” / “Twitter Calls.” And if not then you can email them to request an invitation twitter@jajah.com

Jajah is rolling out a brand spankin’ new service – Jajah@call, a Twitter user-to-user phone call solution.
