Avec 500 millions de budget de dollars ce qui en fait le film le plus cher de l’histoire du cinéma et plus de 10 ans de développement pour son créateur, le prochain film de James Cameron s’impose comme l’évènement cinématographique de la fin d’année, voir de 2009. Mais avant de voir sur grand écran le long métrage annoncé comme étant révolutionnaire, vous pourrez déjà vous aventurer dans l’univers crée de toute pièce par le réalisateur dans l’adaptation vidéoludique par ailleurs réalisée en coopération avec le maestro. Et en avant première total, Xidius foule le sol de Pandora pour vous !

Avatar ist ein Science-Fiction-Film von Regisseur James Cameron, dessen weltweiter Kinostart für den 17. und 18. Dezember 2009 geplant ist. Der Film vermischt real gedrehte und computeranimierte Szenen in einem neuartigen Verfahren. Große Teile des Films wurden in einem virtuellen Studio mit neu entwickelten digitalen 3D-Kameras gedreht.

Story:

200 Jahre in der Zukunft: Die Rohstoffe der Erde sind erschöpft und die Menschen haben begonnen in den Weiten des Alls nach Alternativen zu suchen. Federführend ist der RDA-Konzern, ein Raumfahrt-Konsortium, das nach wertvollen Ressourcen sucht und auf dem Mond Pandora fündig wird. Doch der Abbau erweist sich als schwierig, weil sich auf dem Mond nicht nur ein dichter Dschungel mit vielen gefährlichen Monstern befindet, sondern auch weil er die Heimat einer intelligenten, humanoiden Spezies namens Na’vi ist, die dort im Einklang mit der Natur lebt.
Doch die menschlichen Wissenschaftler haben in dem Forschungsprojekt Avatar herausgefunden, dass man den Geist eines Menschen in den Körper eines Na’vi transferieren kann.
Einige Menschen werden ausgewählt als erste dieses Experiment durchzuführen, um die Gesellschaft der Na’vi zu unterwandern. Unter ihnen befindet sich auch der Ex-Marine Jake Sully, der seit einer Verletzung bei einem Kampfeinsatz von der Hüfte abwärts gelähmt ist. Für ihn bedeutet das Avatar-Programm nicht nur die Möglichkeit wieder für die Regierung zu arbeiten, sondern vor allem, sich wieder frei bewegen zu können.
Kurz nach seiner Ankunft auf Pandora wird der Geist von Jake mit seinem Avatar-Körper verschmolzen. Doch während seiner Mission in den Dschungeln des Planeten verliebt sich Jake in die Na’vi-Frau Neytiri. So erfährt er, dass die Na’vi einen militärischen Schlag gegen die Menschen planen und er muss sich entscheiden, ob er sich auf die Seite der Na’vi schlägt oder seine Heimat verteidigt.

Ich finde diesen Film jetzt schon richtig geil.. mal sehen wie er im 3D-Kino wird.. Ich denke, er könnte mein Film des Jahres werden… ich werde mich überraschen lassen.

James Cameron’s upcoming film Avatar (not to be confused with Nickelodeon’s Avatar) is already drawing a great deal of criticism. This is despite the fact that the film is not yet finished. While it is reasonable to criticize what is known about the film (it is expensive and not yet done) it is not reasonable to make judgments about the quality of the film itself until it has been finished and seen.

From what I have seen of the film, it does seem to draw heavily from existing sources. First, people are making the obvious connection to Dances With Wolves.  However, it is even more appropriate to go back before that movie and compare Avatar’s core plot device with that of the (original) Outer Limits episode Chameleon. In this episode a human is genetically modified to pass as an alien so that he might discern their purpose (and kill them if need be). He finds that the aliens are actually morally superior to humans and ends up joining them (or at least the sole survivor after he kills the others).  No doubt there are numerous other science-fiction stories with similar themes that predate even the Chameleon episode.

Of course, it is rather difficult to create a movie that does not draw from some pre-existing source. Interestingly, some movies are actually lauded for doing so. A good example of this is Star Wars (the original movies) which brilliantly weaves together an array of old threads (the farm boy who seeks adventure, the wise old man, the dashing hero, the princess, the evil empire, the plucky rebels, the Tao, and so on)  into a “new” story. As such, Cameron should not be criticized for re-using a plot device or theme-provided the movie successfully weaves the old into something new. If Cameron simply copies these other works, then the film should be regarded as artistic plagiarism. Interestingly, Cameron’s Terminator film was alleged to have been “copied” from two episodes of the Outer Limit. My own view is that although Cameron was probably (okay certainly) influenced by those episodes, Terminator is is significantly different story.

Second, comparisons are being drawn to the Vietnam war (and other conflicts). On the face of it, this seems reasonable. Naturally enough, the fact that visually the soldiers and equipment resemble those of the Vietnam war (for example the VTOL craft look like modified Huey UH-1 helicopters) lends credence to this claim. Of course, while there may be debate about whether we need yet another  movie commenting on the Vietnam War (or commenting on the current wars through commenting on Vietnam) even if the movie does this it is no mark against it. After all, some very good movies are created to (in part) comment on war.

Naturally, there is also some criticism of the cost of the movie. While cost is something worth considering, it is only a real problem if the movie does not make a profit. After all, it is not just a matter of how much a movie costs-it is also a matter of how the cost matches up against the box office take (and other revenue). If Avatar makes a Titanic amount of money, then the movie would be a success financially. Sure, it would be better to make that sort of  money without spending as much, but such profits can be presented as a justification for the expenditures.

Speaking of Titantic (and Terminator 2), Cameron has a track record of being able to deliver. Perhaps this will hold this time as well. Then again, perhaps Avatar will not turn out to be like Dances with Wolves, but rather Waterworld.

As a final point, even the negative buzz about the movie might help it. After all, the more people hear about the film, the more likely it is that they will go to see it on opening day. Of course, too much negative buzz might have the opposite effect.

A PREPARARSE POR QUE COMENZAMOS A DISFRUTAR CON ESTAS ESPECTACULARES ESCENAS.

The ten minute segment takes a look at a scene in the film when Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) fly together on Banshees for the first time. This is apparantly James Cameron’s favorite moment in the film.

I am slowly beginning to get excited to see Avatar. I still think the plot will be the weak link in the film, but in 3D this should look amazing. Mind you so far it just seems like one long cut scene in a video game.

However, it is good to see just how much work and technology went into making it.

Não sei se você sabe disso, mas o YouTube tem algumas frescuras na hora de incorporar vídeos em blogs e sites. A incorporação do vídeo, através de um código-link, permite que você, digamos, puxe o vídeo para o seu blog ou site sem a necessidade (bem trabalhosa) de fazer downloads ou algum tipo de carregamento.

O novo trailer de Avatar já saiu por aí, não é uma divulgação nova, mas o problema é que a incorporação desse vídeo legendado foi desativada, pelo menos nos quais procuramos. As versões sem legenda estão lá, de boa. Mas como somos brasileiros analfabetos na língua inglesa, e como uma boa parte dos brazucas também são, é nosso dever trazer essa opção de vídeo com legenda para o blog. Mas foi difícil encontrar.

Mas não desistimos tão fácil e apesar do WordPress também ter a filhadaputagem de ferrar com a vida do blogueiro se ele quiser postar vídeos de outro lugar que não seja do YouTube, foi necessário buscar ajuda em páginas e mais páginas na internet para resolver este problema.

Isso é até possível chamar de revolução da informação. Mas fica para outra postagem e pensamentos.

A questão é que, apesar do atraso, o mais recente trailer de Avatar, novo filme de James Cameron após Titanic, chega ao Feijoada LEGENDADO!

Você pode muito bem ver o trailer por aí, no YouTube principalmente. Não estamos preocupados com isso. A verdade é que para cada tipo de barreira na Internet, é criado atalhos para provar que esses imbecis que acreditam possuir o direito de limitar a livre navegação de internautas estão na verdade, limitando a si mesmos.

Mas em todo caso, para aqueles que insistem em impedir a incorporação de vídeos no YouTube, apenas um comunicado: vão para a puta que o pariu!!!

La producción de Avatar no ha parado de proporcionar material promocional de su cinta, y mucho de él bastante novedoso. Por lo pronto, está disponible un nuevo trailer interactivo, en donde el espectador no sólo verá imágenes totalmente nuevas de la cinta, sino que podrá interactuar con el sistema de diversas formas. Desafortunadamente, por la configuración del mismo sólo puede verse descargando la aplicación, pero realmente vale la pena.

Apparantly Jessica Alba is heading back to her Dark Angel roots as she will star in an adaptation of the Insiders, a series of Belgian graphic novels published by Dargaud.

Alba herself put up the money to buy the rights along with Robert Rodriguez, who will be producing this as well.

French-Algerian filmmaker Mabrouk El Mechri (JCVD which is a great film), is now attached to direct this project.

I’ve not heard of the comic book by Jean-Claude Bartoll. However it debuted back in 2002, and follows Najah Cruz, “a Columbian who is as deadly as she is beautiful. She has the weapons expertise and combat skills of a James Bond. At the secret request of the White House she infiltrates a worldwide mafia-like organization composed of businessmen and politicians and becomes the bodyguard of the organization’s leader.”

How does that grab you. Pretty cool I say. It also sounds like the comic book, Sleeper, but with no superpowers.

What do we have then – a cool comic book concept, a director who does things a bit differently and Jessica Alba. At the minute I am thinking Alba is the weak link in this one as many of the parts she has played recently are a bit…naff. Mind you she is starring in The Killer Inside Me and she did do the kick ass stuff back in James Cameron’s Dark Angel TV show. Plus she is easy on the eye. Hmm, maybe this might just work.

A divulgação do novo filme de James Cameron, Avatar, não para, a novidade dé um vídeo com uma emocionante cena de ação. Nela Jake (Sam Worthington) aparece sendo perseguido por uma criatura do planeta Pandora, chamada Thenatar. Confira:

Ontem escrevi que estava preocupado se a trama de Avatar seria boa, pelo jeito isso é o menos importante para Cameron e com razão. O vídeo mostra que o diretor sabe como poucos filmar grandes cenas de ação e a cada nova cena fico ainda mais impressionado com o visual do filme.

A trama nos leva a um novo mundo além de nossa imaginação, onde um relutante herói embarca numa jornada de redenção, descobrimento e amor inesperado, enquanto lidera uma heróica batalha para salvar a civilização.Na trama o ator Sam Worthington é Jake Sully. um ex-militar que fica cadeirante depois de um acidente em combate, ele vai para o planeta Pandora, habitado por um por um povo chamado Na’Vi. Os humanos não conseguem respirar no planeta, por isso foram criados híbridos humanos Na’Vi, controlados pelos humanos através de suas ondas cerebrais, chamados de avatar, que dá nome ao filme. Sully utiliza um desses avatares e através dele conhece o mundo dos habitantes do planeta.

Avatar estreia em 18 de dezembro.
