On Friday night I went to see James Morrison at Wembley Arena with my 16 year old daughter.

What a cool guy: great voice, great songs, great looks.  He was so chuffed to be at Wembley!

Nelly Furtado came on for Broken Strings.  I suppose that was a bonus!

The support act was One Republic: very interesting!

We were entertained on the Jubilee Line on the way home by an Essex girl trying to pick up a Guildford boy.  They’d both been to the gig. She offered her seat if she could sit on his knee, and he accepted!  Then they sang ‘Undiscovered’ together and it was actually pretty good!  The whole carriage was laughing.  But they split up before we even got to Baker Street.  Thank you for the merriment, though!

Ishte tepër i shëmtuar, një varr më së normal, për më shumë mbushur me shumë balte e me pak lule, rrethuar me disa hekura të urryeshëm që na ndalonin ti afroheshim çunit të egër. Edhe pse kishim harte na u desh të paktën një ore për ta gjetur. Ndërkohe shikonim varret e tjerë e datat e vdekjes. Disa varre ishin gati të hapur e mund të shikoje në thellesi, disa të tjerë komplet të mbyllur në stil Rozafa. Zen Circus kanë të drejte. Duke lexuar mbishkrimet të lind vetëm një pyetje ; ku i varrosin njerëzit e këqij? Sipas mbishkrimeve e epitafeve mbi mermer ata aty në jetë kishin qenë të gjithë engjëj, kishin bërë vetëm gjëra të mirë dhe nuk i kishin rrahur kurrë fëmijët e tyre. Varrin e këngëtarit e gjetëm duke ndjekur disa italian e ca njerëz të tjera pa identitet. Ishim rreth 8 apo 9 veta njëkohësisht aty. Gjithçka mes nesh ishte e ndryshme : gjuha, ngjyra, aparatet fotografike. Na bashkonte koka e ulur drejt epitafit të këngëtarit të famshëm. Diku në thellësi pyesja veten se sa e ndjenin momentin ata të tjerët, ata që ishin aty jo “ për të pare varrin e M.” por “për të fotografuar varrin e M.” Po mendoja mbi të drejtën e tyre për të qenë aty, për të parë varrin në heshtje duke menduar gjërat e zakonshme që mendon në kësi rastesh. Nga do e marrim metronë, ky qeka varri domethënë, sa i vogël është? Mendoja e doja ti pyesja të tjerët me inat. A i dini këngët e Doors përmendsh ashtu si i di unë? A e njihni historinë e kopertinës së albumit Morrison Hotel? A e dini që Light my fire është e Krieger, që Albama Song është shkruar nga Brech-Weill e Spanish Caravan është bërë e famshme nga Andrés Segovia? S’do ishte e habitshme sikur përgjigjet të ishin të gjitha “Jo”.

Varri i poetit tërheq po aq shumë sa kulla Eifel apo muzeu Luvër. Për shumë është thjesht një objekt interesant mbi të cilin mund të drejtosh objektivin e aparatit tënd ( po prit të të tregoj fotot, i kam në kompjuter, këtu jemi në aeroport, këtu pastaj jemi në varrezën e Xhimit, po po ja kaluam shumë mirë, këtu jam me gruan para parlamentit francez, do kthehemi përsëri vitin tjetër…Parisi është gjithmonë Paris, Only in Paris peoples buy flowers, in Korça the flowers are eaten by the donkeys...)

Kushedi nëse edhe ata masnin të drejtën e të tjerëve për të pare varrin me informacione që të tjerët kanë mbi trupin e ruajtur aty, një arsyetim komplet i gabuar sepse askush s’mund, apo të paktën s’duhet të ndërhyje në perceptimin e një shfaqje artistike siç është në ketë rast muzika**. Por është po aq e vërtete që shumë njerëz vizitojnë vetëm për të thënë që kanë vizituar. Duket sikur edhe turizmi, edhe ai më makabër si turizmi masiv nëpër varreza është kthyer në një prodhim të shitshëm si çdo gjë tjetër në këtë dreq shekulli që na kanë dhuruar.

Para pak vitesh varr ka qenë normal por tani e kishin rrethuar me ca hekura gri. Një i punësuar në varreze na tha me zë të ulet se në datë 10 dhjetor aty do vinin pjesëtaret e tjerë të grupit me rastin e përvjetorit të vdekjes së Morrison. Ndoshta shkojmë.

My favorite song from Glee in awhile! Finally, a singer who can keep up with Lea Michele; Matthew Morrison is adorable and can really really sing! This song was great for him, not that I didn’t love him singing the thong song. Other than a great episode of Glee, this week was very draggy. I think everyone is feeling the end of the semester crunch. But I make great excuses not to do work, like “I should really start that final project but I think I am going to watch New Moon instead”. The dread of finals approaches. But at least we have Thanksgiving to look forward to. I have one word for why Thanksgiving is amazing: stuffing! Hell yes. Oh, and being thankful for everything. That sounds really hollow when I say it like that. But think about it..how many times do you bitch about every stupid thing in your life, and how many times do you just stop and marvel at the fact that you are living? Being alive is awesome. I always forget that. I am getting really sick of hearing myself complain. Suck it up. I can do anything and I should be grateful for it. So what if I have a shit ton of tests? Just study and do it! Thanksgiving is a time to thank the universe you are alive and for those of us in college, to be thankful we are in college. Here, in college, we are living much of the world’s dream. I command myself to be thankful. Be thankful for a family. Be thankful for music. Be thankful for Adam Lambert. Be thankful for stuffing. Amen.

I once picked up a guitar in February 2008, learned a few chords and never looked back.

I was compelled to teach myself how to play it, not realizing I’d bought a Spanish Acoustic not a Steel String Acoustic until I got home.  Amending a mistake which to be honest wasn’t a big deal, I traded the Spanish for a small Steel String on the market stall I previously worked on in Cambridge, UK.

Now all set to teach myself, with incredible determination I promised myself I’d never give up until I feel I’m good enough to say I play guitar.

Me being me, being able to play guitar wasn’t enough, so I sang a note. I’ll never forgive myself for subjecting my ears to that revolting sounds that forced their way through my vocal chords and out into the now vulnerable space around me. Surprisingly the stench of a sound wasn’t enough to put me off singing, or grunting should I say. I dedicated every spare minute to practicing how to sing and play guitar for several weeks. Suddenly that my awful vocals became a melody, the badly played guitar became a rhythm/ melody – dare I say, I had a song which didn’t hurt my ears! Writing songs has never been a problem for me, I guess paying attention in English and observing the world around me are now key! So lyrics, vocals and guitar now satisfy me.

I didn’t stop there, I consistently taught myself both guitar and vocals churning out a number of original songs, only half I’d say I like.

A year and nine months later and I have a recording contract, as a solo Acoustic/soul/pop artist.

An odd 21 months….

I am usually not a fan of re-releases/deluxe editions/platinum editions etc of original albums. It just seems like the labels are milking our money. Why do we need 2 versions of the same album? Especially when the deluxe edition is out on the same day of release as the original album.

But once in a while, the re-release is packed with gems worthy of another purchase. The deluxe edition of James Morrison’s “Songs For You, Truths For Me” is one fine example. The second disc contains 6 acoustic recordings of his past hits such as “You Make It Real” and “You Give Me Something” PLUS 1 extra acoustic remake of a Michael Jackson classic – “Man In The Mirror”. I have been listening to this track for weeks and I am still digging this track. Listen to the track here:

Die US-Pop-Rock-Band „OneRepublic“ wurde schon vor fünf Jahre gegründet und es dauerte nicht lange bis sie international durchstarten konnte. Mit dem Mega-Hit „Apologize“ (produziert von Timbaland) stürmte die 5-köpfige Band die Charts und veröffentlichte letzte Woche nun das langersehnte zweite Studioalbum „Waking Up“!

Die angesagte Rockband aus Colorado konnte mit ihrem Debütalbum “Dreaming Out Loud” überzeugen, wurde  im letzten Jahr als die Newcomer Band schlecht hin gefeiert und ihre MySpace-Seite wurde millionenfach angeklickt. Für diesen unbeschreiblichen Erfolg ist vor allem Frontmann Ryan Tedder verantwortlich. Er gehört im Moment zu den gefragtesten Songwritern. Sein Talent sensible, exzellente Songs zu komponieren stellte er bei diesen aus seiner Feder stammenden Hits unter Beweis:

Who wouldn’t appreciate weekends when you know it’s the only days that you won’t have to queue for shower and rush for the train and face your boss every morning, get your butt kicked to achieve the SOP?

For me, what’s been happening for the past Thursday, Friday, Saturday and today has been one of the most things that would linger in head for a while. I am grateful to God for his blessings and answering my prayers. Alhamdulillah…

It’s too personal to put it up here. I know it’s contradict to have a blog if I dont wanna talk about it right? People have been issuing this privacy invasion problem. To me, what they know is what we tell. Regardless in any mediums the news spread, we could always tell the source.

Anyway, I just bought a few pieces of Ariani scarves and they cost me my monthly allowances. I cant wait to wear them but I have to admit I am quite shy to put them on. I really have to cut down my expenses to the core otherwise I would run out of money every month. I think it’s normal for those who just started to work, we used up a part of our savings for “significant assets.”

Esok nak puasa sebab nak bayar nazar ke atas hajat yang termakbul pada hari Jumaat. Yehaa… Kena berpuasa bersungguh-sungguh, jaga adab, makan dan minum. Nasib baik la Ismail dan Izzati masuk ofis hari Selasa, kalau tak, mesti puasa aku terbatal instantly. Paham-paham jela! But I wont be around in office on Tuesday as well. Alamak… Urgh~

When you really try to work things out, no matter how great the relationship would turn out, if it’s not meant to be, it’s just not meant to be. Can always end it before it’s too late and before anyone gets hurt. You are too special for me and I dont deserve you. I would envy the girl who gets you, but I’m not made for you. I’m glad we ended it well as grown ups. And I’m not gonna deny that I’m gonna miss you because you’ve filled the space that left untouched for quite sometime. Thank you for your time, energy and motivation. Thank you for appreciating my honesty. We’ll be a lil bit awkward for a while, but I know that everything’s gonna be OK.

As I’m working on the feature script, as a director I have to think about who’s going to play which roles.
I have some actors that I have in mind for the role of KEN but I haven’t really thought about who should play JACK. (Crime boss, Ken’s father figure who adopts him)

Currently, my car horn is damaged. It doesn’t work right. The noise sounds like it might if I was honking it after driving into the deep end of a pool.

It’s pretty ineffective. And the reason why is simple: in my car the horn has been subject to the most use. More than the gas pedal. More than the turn signal. More than the stereo.

During an average 30-minute drive, I’d estimate I employ my horn at least 10-15 times. While you may think that’s overdoing it, you’ll have to forgive me if I disagree. I’m holding myself back. On some drives, I feel like I could lay on the goddam horn from beginning to end.

Some people call this “road rage.” It’s one of those popular terms people love to throw around. But I’m not angry. Well, not the majority of the time. Mainly, I just want people to know they’re fucking up out there on the road. You’re inconveniencing everyone else by driving like Stevie Wonder on heroin.

You see, like all things in our society, everyone feels like they’ve got the right of way. But, in this instance, they’re all taking it quite literally. And it sucks.

I drive like I was taught. Eyes on the road. Aware of my surroundings. I’m basically the best driver you’ll ever meet. I’ve only been in two accidents ever. Neither were my fault. Despite what SEPTA’s official position was on the first one.

In any case, I’m simply asking everyone out there to drive like they’ve got a brain. Use your turn signal, know where you’re going, get off your fucking cell phone and, most importantly, stay out of my way.

Because, hey, you’ve ruined my car horn and, well, you should feel bad about it.

But I wasn’t sad to hear John Allen Muhammad, one of the two dimwits responsible for D.C. area sniper attacks in October 2002, was put to death last night.

→ I used to think Chad Ochocinco was kind of a strap. But he’s not. Follow him on Twitter and you’ll see what I mean.

→ The new John Cusack movie, 2012, comes out this Friday. Does anyone else think this movie looks like everyone on Earth running for their lives? Christ, when’s Hollywood going to bust out of this? Everything new coming out, including all the inane kid stuff, is either about avoiding the end of the world or humanity’s inability to avoid it.

Alors que dire de ce concert?… Bizarrement pas grand chose tellement c’était génial! James Morrison est arrivé le sourire aux lèvres, nous a gratifié d’un “bonsoir français” et il m’avait déjà dans la poche…

J’y suis allée surtout pour écouter cette voix rocailleuse et par la meme occasion découvrir le 2eme album que je ne connaissais pas très bien. J’ai découvert un véritable artiste.

La salle n’a commencé a se réchauffer seulement à partir de Broken Strings, où une des choristes à pris la place de Nelly Furtado.

Pendant près de 2h on est bercés entre balades et titres un peu plus pop. Quand on ressort de là, on reste encore dans cette atmosphère ouatée où tout à l’air joli :p

Après ces 2h c’est un Olympia debout qui applaudit cet artiste. Je suis prete à parier qu’il reviendra dans notre capitale. Et bien évidemment j’y serai aussi Je vous conseille vivement de le voir sur scène, c’est un régal.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea culpa…

I really tried, wanted to be truthful and keep the joker-faced image of the enthusiastic blogger, but that happens when you have a life:))sometimes you just don’t have time to write about it:DD I guess it is good…or not…dunno, but before rarely happened. So what happened: I went home to see my homies, family, newborn niece – it was great.  And arriving back I already had some bitterful Parisian events to welcome me…no elevator for 2 months – wouldn’t be the end of the world, if I wouldn’t live top floor, 6th…then my bank card was kidnapped by a cruel and mean ATM, in the middle of the night. Well, imagine me, just after my long WE, and all-day journey, as I’m trying to call the center of “stolen and lost cards”. Well, It was neither stolen nor lost, but whatever, what else should I have done….then the lady on the other end asked me “do you have a pen?” “why, should I try to drag my card out of the machine with it, or what – that’s what I thought” well, I was in the middle of the fucking road at night, sitting my the terrorist ATM, so guess what I DON’T HAVE THE FUCKING PEN with meee, and then she told the number of my case reference anyway….After that incident I thought in myself “Good Hella, if you wanna have a language exam, you should just tell that you managed to communicate and resolve a sudden financial emergency IN FRENCH, in the street, with all the buses and cars in the background” – and still without a pen… (by the way…try to avoid the ATM of LCL at Rue Jean Moulin, M Alésia…)

And tonight, I’m ready to make some place in my heart to get overwhelmed forrrrrr JAMEESSS MORRISON tomorrow at l’Olympia!!! I’m a huge huge fan, but as the last time our encounter with him was distracted by my pregnant sister, bored to death after 2 minutes (and also my genius god was described as a “drugged clown imitating a singer” by her), I decided to take the opportunity to see him in live again in Paris…it is going to be verrry interesting, as the show starts at 8pm and I finish at 7pm…well how the hell I gonna get there in an hour, only God knows…

I probably shouldn’t be saying this out loud in case I jinx it…I am pretty good at jinxing things too. Mum says it has something to do with these spots I have on my tongue…I’d rather believe it’s because I am clairvoyant in some way. *cackles*

What was I going to say? Oh yes, so I shouldn’t be saying this but I have been ridiculously happy lately. After weeks of being depressed and in a constantly permanent state of blue-ness, this is so very welcome. Why?! I really don’t know. Nothing has changed but I just feel like a boulder has been lifted off my shoulders and I can actually finally breathe and it’s amazing. I mean, I actually missed oxygen!

It feels good. I have always been the optimistic and cheerful kind, so much so that people have found it annoying. I talk about absolute rubbish, I twirl randomly, I am always laughing. I kinda feel like I am going back to being that person again. Even my Mum noticed the change and she goes ‘See, aren’t you glad that I pushed you to go to Malaysia?’ Maybe it was going back. Maybe I just needed a break. Even if it was a short one.

I am not going to question it anymore. I am just glad that whatever it was, it has gone and I can be okay again.

On that note, I have been going back to my James Morrison days. I had forgotten how good he was and I don’t know why I kept skipping his folder whenever I lined up my music. This is one of my favourite songs of his, it’s very sweet and mushy and yes, right up my alley. He’s got such an amazingly soothing voice and not to forget that Mr Morrison is such a cutie ♥
