Recently, we have had the pleasure of working atop one of Plano’s most popular rooftops

Recently, we have had the pleasure of working atop one of Plano’s most popular rooftops – The Rooftop Event Spot, located on the fourth floor of the Ice House in Historic Downtown Plano. The Rooftop is part of the Urban family which includes Urban Rio (including On The Rocks), Urban Crust and Nate’s Gelato. Bonnie and Nathan Shea, the husband and wife team who created the Urban family of restaurants, joined forces with Southwest Fence & Deck owner, Jamie Turrentine, to create a rooftop patio suited for all seasons here in north Texas.

The Rooftop Event Spot includes a large, open outdoor patio with an inside show kitchen used for cooking classes and demonstrations. The space is great for a private party, wedding reception or buisness event. Since the Sheas enjoy spending time outdoors, they wanted their patrons to be able to do the same – all year long. To enable this, Jamie’s vision was to create a patio enclosure that would help to control the temperature on extremely warm or cold days, and still have the option to enjoy the outdoors on the mild days.

Southwest Fence installed a Corradi Pergotenda® system which encloses the overhead area of the patio in less than 30 seconds. If you have lived in Texas for any length of time, you know just how quickly our weather can change. If the rain starts coming down or the wind picks up, the rooftop can be enclosed with just the click of a button. Also included in the design are side curtains that can also be opened or closed simply with a remote. With the entire space completely enclosed, the patio can be enjoyed whether it is snowing or a sweltering triple digit temperature day.

If you have been looking for a way to enhance your restaurant or event spot patio or rooftop, we have some fresh ideas for you. We can also install similar products at your residence. We can create a great addition to your outdoor space that allows you more control over the temperature, wind and amount of light in your outdoor living space. With this type of addition, you will find yourself enjoying your outdoor living just as often as your indoor living spaces.

To learn more about this project, visit our YouTube channel and view the Rooftop Event Spot Testimonial. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss your outdoor spaces, whether you are looking for ways to enhance your restaurant or your residence. With over 30 years of experience in the DFW area, we are the source for all of your outdoor needs.
Not only does Southwest Fence & Deck create beautiful outdoor designs for residents all over Nor

Not only does Southwest Fence & Deck create beautiful outdoor designs for residents all over North Texas, you have probably seen our work at some of your favorite local hot spots as well. Recently, our blog featured some work Southwest Fence & Deck completed at The Monarch Restaurant at the luxurious Hotel ZaZa in Houston. Did you know we have also worked for Dallas area clients such as Canyon Creek Country Club, the OMNI Hotel, the Heard-Craig Women’s Club and DFW Airport?

The latest video featured on our YouTube channel takes viewers on a tour of the new covered patio at the Canyon Creek Country Club in Richardson, Texas. Just as Southwest Fence & Deck strives to make the outdoor space an extension of the home for our residential clients, owner Jamie Turrentine used the existing structure at Canyon Creek as inspiration for the addition to the patio. The new covered patio enables club members to enjoy meals outside as well as a welcoming seating area for friends to chat while overlooking the rolling hills of the golf course. A fire pit welcomes guests on crisp evenings – a space to be enjoyed during all seasons. Before the addition, members were not particularly enticed to congregate outside, and now the Club has the ability to entertain members with live music, cocktail hours and sunset dinners. The already beautiful setting can now be enjoyed to its fullest potential by utilizing the outdoor area.

The club prides itself on offering members the first class services and amenities one would expect to be offered by a private club, without the pretentious feel. Located in the heart of Canyon Creek neighborhood in Richardson, Texas, the Club automatically takes on a true community feel, and the addition of the covered patio encourages the neighborly environment further. Not only does the Club provide great ambiance for member events and dinners, it also creates a wonderful backdrop for formal events such as weddings, private events and professional meetings. Can’t you just picture cocktails before a wedding reception beneath the covered patio while enjoying the exquisite view of the golf course? Or perhaps a private brunch or dinner party on one of those gorgeous days we experience during the Spring here in Texas?

Maybe your commercial space needs updates to entice new clients and refresh the view for your current clients. As we always emphasize here at Southwest Fence & Deck, if you can envision it, we can build it. Be sure to contact us so we can begin to bring your vision to life.

As you know if you keep up with our blog, Southwest Fence & Deck is a proud member of the American and Texas Fence Associations. After serving as President of the Texas Fence Association last year, Jamie Turrentine is now serving on the Board of Directors for the American Fence Association in an effort to further the association’s mission by promoting the highest level of professionalism, ethics and product standards in the industry.

Last month, Jamie attended the Colorado Fence Association’s quarterly meeting along with AFA Executive VP, Rick Church, to discuss the benefits of the AFA and the value of the certification classes the AFA offers its members. As we have mentioned on this blog before, if you are new to the industry, the AFA has a very rich history and offers immense value to its members. Whether it is through networking with your peers, keeping up to speed on the latest available products or taking advantage of the certification and credibility membership has to offer, you will benefit considerably by joining AFA.

Did you know the AFA offers various certification programs to its members, such as Fence Installation School, Certified Installer Programs and Automated Gate Operator Installer Programs? Not only does AFA offer week-long classroom and field-based modules, the Association is committed to training teachers on a regional level so other chapters can provide the same modules to members on a local level. These programs are the highest professional certifications you can receive in the industry, and are a great way to elevate your company and team to a level well above the competition. You can view the different certifications and classes involved on the education portion of the AFA website. Classes and scholarship opportunities are also available to nonmembers.

If you have questions about membership or any of the certification classes, please feel free to reach out to Jamie at Southwest Fence & Deck. We are always excited to see new members at meetings!
