JFK had an awful back condition that would have been enough to keep anyone down, including himself.

JFK had an awful back condition that would have been enough to keep anyone down, including himself. But he wanted to be exceptional, so he enlisted the help of an MD to make him sufficiently mobile to do the great job that he did. Presumably there no adverse effects from this extreme supplementation because he had a pro to watch over him

The intent here is to use an extreme example of what people do to enhance their performance. Of course, we all of how athletes use steroids in spite of them being illegal and dangerous. Consequently, there is an initial aversion to anything even remotely similar.

The question is are all of them as bad as steroids? It is reasonable to assume that if you are reading these articles you are in fact intelligently looking for ways to maximize your healthiness. That’s why this post in here. Its to encourage you to take a risk on something as innocuous as green tea capsules if you have been reluctant to do so in the past.

There are other enhancers as well. They are of the over the counter variety. Any health food store on the internet can give you a list. You don’t need an MDs prescription to use them. You simply buy them, read the directions and go from there. Generally this means doubling the recommended dose as the manufacturers are all concerned over negative reactions, but it some cases that’s not true. You have to determine what is right for you. And, that may take a bit of experimenting.

Asking your MD if this is an acceptable pursuit is probably not going to be helpful. MDs are all mostly against anything except what is considered to be OK by the majority which pass them on the street. The question is what’s that. Does this mean three square meals with possibly a cupor two of coffee or no coffee at all or what? Surely the use of vitamins ought to be included, but it never is.

For all practical purposes, if you have a JFK mentality, you will want a Dr Feelgood to help you push beyond your limitations. We all know that we are using a small fraction of what we have inside. What we all need is something to push us a little beyond without hurting us in the process. It would be wonderful if more MDs would acknowledge this and be more supportive things other than the now acceptable one, maybe two cup of java. There really are some less expensive substances that do a better job, without the side effects. Being “on them”, as its said will help you stay on course with your daily workouts.

An MD’s job is to get you OK. That’s an easy way to put it and most folks think they kno

An MD’s job is to get you OK. That’s an easy way to put it and most folks think they know what this means. But do they? What is OK your standards? Is it the same as your next door neighbor’s?

Today’s point is not to explore the standards of healthiness. That can be done by anyone with or without professional guidance. Rather, it seems more pressing to ask whether OK is good enough for you?

Any baby boomer who cares about looking like Stallone in his 60’s or Jane Fonda in her 70’s wants more from their health care people than just OK. To be certain they don’t want a below the surface condition or any of the standard problems associated with middle age — the ones that there seem to be an endless number of new drugs to cure. All one has to do is to stay awake for the TV commercials with the urinary remedies, the impotency cures or the blood thinners to know what is meant. Just do as your told on the TV and ask your doctor if any of these are right for you. They most likely will be.

Today’s baby boomer wants more than just being kept OK via the taking of these drugs. Granted, its wonderful that they are around in case you have a problem caused by twenty years of neglect, generally referred to as natural aging. But it is not the same as being problem free. And it is radically different than being superlatively healthy.

Stallone and Jane Fonda are referred to here because they have kept at their routines and lifestyles for decades. Too, they are over the hill, if “the hill” is supposedly fifty (or is it forty?) If it’s still forty then Olympic Gold Medalist Dara Torres at 42 can be included.

For the Stallone’s and Fonda’s, OK has never been good enough. They have wanted more and have never stopped reaching for what they desire. It may be that their physicians have been a little avant garde, but it is not likely . MDs believe in R&R along with “no bad habits” believing that’s all you need to allow the body to do its best. These people could never have been be satisfied by that! The question then is what about you?

The visit at Lisa Kline and Kitson was very productive, so that after the shopping spree, the star had her hands occupied. But so far we haven’t heard any woman complaining about too much shopping.

Knowing more than the doctors is not considered to be a healthy attitude. You are supposed to think

Knowing more than the doctors is not considered to be a healthy attitude. You are supposed to think that you know less and therefore that you should automatically do whatever yours tells you to do. This extends to thinking the way they do and feeling as they think you ought to feel.

Perhaps this is wisest if it is clear from their tests that you have a rare disorder or disease, that is in fact right there beneath the surface, detectable only by way of cat scan or ultra-sound. Then you really may have something wrong with you that should get corrected right now and you really should say that they know more than you do..

But is this really where you are at right now not having a diagnosis like this and wanting to take off those awful looking 20-40 pounds, to say nothing of REALLY wanting to look like someone that might be a prime candidate for Hollywood or your local tryouts for Baywatch? That IS where you’re at, isn’t it? C’mon, be honest. Most of us baby boomers are that way, you know.

If you are having trouble admitting that that sums you up, it may be that you are suffering from Normalitis. This is a way of being that is just like your next door neighbors, who presumably are about the same age. Normality (not like where you’re at) is what you should be interested in because they think you should be interested in it just the same as does your doctor. Do YOU think you should be? Does the you within you think so–that’s the one which secretly feels a certain way, wants a certain thing, aspires….yes, ASPIRES…..to be a particular way in spite of what others think he should be interested in.

Some may have difficulty relating to these words. But, you wouldn’t be reading on unless you had at least a partial affinity to them. The question is what’s so bad about wanting to look like Sly Stallone now in his 60s if you happen to be in your 60s or Jane Fonda if you are a woman in your 70s. What is so bad about this really?

Your MD is unlikely to be sympathetic with these aspirations and will caution you against overdoing it, should you express an interest in pressing forward.. Same goes for your neighbors as you already knew. The question is will you listen to their depressing counsel of any of them?

Nicolas Zugasti

Sometimes there are movies that because of high expectations, don’t quite live up to the hype,

Sometimes there are movies that because of high expectations, don’t quite live up to the hype, therefore people and critics shrug it off as a failure. There are also some movies that people just pan or shrug off based on it’s cast or premise. Although there are some occassions where I’ve had such thoughts, I like to give every movie a chance. There are times when I regret it but there are times when there is a true gem that most people just don’t care for without even seeing it, or they just don’t like it for the reasons I’ve mentioned.

My list is compiled of movies that “failed” due to high expectations as well as those that most think are truly horrible. I love all of these movies and I don’t feel ashamed for doing so.

Here are my top 10 most underrated movies of the decade.

10. Australia

Baz Luhrman | 2008

I guess that after the greatness of Moulin Rouge! there were high expectations for Lurhrman’s next project (mine were definitely like that). When it was announced that he would do an epic romance, I guess people thought that he was going to try to bring back the sub-genre, when in fact it was just an homage to those movies. Most people didn’t see it as the latter, which is why they hated it. However, there were a few of us who saw it for what it was and we loved it. The romance is great, the cinematography is amazing, the score fits the story, and the performances are great. Yes, the script had problems, but they can be easily forgiven thanks to the rest of the production.

9. The Fall

Tarsem | 2008

This movie originally played in the Toronto International Film Festival in 2006 and it was panned, with most critics calling it an inferior copy of anther festival darling from that year, Pan’s Labyrinth. Two year later, it was released independently to bad reviews. There were a few critics like Roger Ebert who actually saw it for what it was, a visual treat supported by a small story. It is a gorgeous movie filled with remarkable images and featuring great performances by Lee Pace and Catinka Untaru. It may not have a very deep and thought provoking story, but the story confined with the magnificent production makes for a great experience.

8. Across the Universe

Julie Taymor | 2007

Most people who dislike this mostly complain about how “misused” the songs by The Beatles were, about how little story there is to support those historic lyrics. I guess their love for the songs did not allow them to see the beautiful production, the great direction, the great performances, the good arrangements of the songs. They missed out on all the fun.

7. Knowing

Alex Proyas | 2009

Nicolas Cage had not had a good decade. For every Lord of War ,The Weatherman, and Adaptation there are two National Treasures, one Next, one Bangkok Dangerous, one Ghost Rider, and one The Wicker Man. So I guess that when this came out the presence of Cage made most people dismiss it as another one of his attempts to become an action star so late in his career. However, the movie is not just Nicolas Cage. It was directed by one of the most interesting directors out there, the script, despite it’s huge flaws, had some interesting ideas that Proyas takes the most advatage of, and it also features Cage’s best performances since 2005 when he had both Lord of War and The Weatherman

6. Memoirs of a Geisha

Rob Marshall | 2005

The book on which this is based is amazing, so there is no way that the movie was going to live up to it. Despite that, I believe Rob Marshall did a great job in translating the story visually into the screen it is one of the best produced movies of the decade. Yes, the script is rather bad, but the behind-the-scenes people and the actors rise above the material. Should you expect a fast-paced movie? No, you should expect a slow-burning experience and take everything in to enjoy the great ending.

5. The Life Aquatic With Steve Zizzou

Wes Anderson | 2004

It may not be Wes Anderson’s best, but I’d say that it is his most interesting, visually, and it has some really funny moments, as well as plenty of heart felt ones. Plus, it sports Bill Murray’s best post-Lost in Translation performance, Angelica Houston, Owen Wilson, Willem Dafoe, Cate Blanchett, and a song by Sigur Ros. What more can you ask for?

4. Monster-in-Law

Robert Luketic | 2005

Does it have the most original story? No. Is It well written and directed? No. So why do I think it is underrated? Well, it is because of the actresses. Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lopez have great chemistry together, and that alone makes almost every joke work. Plus, there is the always-reliable Wanda Sykes and the always reliable assistant ready with a one liner for every situation.

3. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

Garth Jennings | 2005

Based on the books by Douglas Adams, I think the movies does a great job of translating the humor, which is not the humor that most people are used to. I does not have jokes that give you belly laughs, but the kind of humor that makes you go, “that’s funny.” Martin Freeman, Mos Def, Zooey Deschanel, and Sam Rockwell are perfectly cast and make everything work.

2. Speed Racer

The Wachowskis | 2008

“It looks like a videogame and it has no story” was the biggest complaint I heard about this movie. This was never supposed to be the next Matrix, it was supposed to be a movie for the whole family to enjoy. And that was what we got. It has a simple good vs. evil, family always sticks together story, combined with great, groundbreaking visual effects, and good performances to boot.

1. The Fountain

Darren Aronofsky | 2005

I guess the main reason why most people don’t like it is because of it’s non-linear narrative. I loved it from the first time I saw it, and has only gotten better with repeat viewings. Hugh Jackman gives what is his best performance to date, and Rachel Weiz is also quite good. Some parts are off-putting and you do wonder what part is actually happening, but that is only part of the beauty of it. This is definitely one of the best movies of the decade.

There are my 10 most underrated movies of the decade. Feel free to offer your opinion in the comments section.

Some of my best friends are MDS and a few even workout. Personally, I think they all should. But they have objections to doing so just like the rest of the Normal Majority (such as most of my neighbors right here in the town house complex, whom I can see right out of my window.

The MDs who do workout have the same reasons for doing so as the non-MD Health Nuts (of which you may well be part). One often wonders if the greater part of the MD population feels the same to their seemingly trippy colleagues.

Why does the MD who shows up every morning, parking his Lexus in back of the club, do it? I asked him once and got an “I try to practice what I preach answer. I almost fell over. This means that he actually tells his patients to work out. This is incredible.

MDs, one would think, would all be all about healthy living. I and maybe even you would think that this would include a daily workout (along with low fat low carb eating and probably some really strong multi-vitamins.) Shouldn’t that be what they all should think we all ought to be doing?

Most do not unless they are just out of grad school, possibly. The older more established class of professionals really believe that rest and relaxation, R&R, is the safest way for most to make to retirement in one piece. On the other hand, the younger ones know that this is probably the best way to get yourself on expensive medications and into complicated surgical procedures down the road.

Diabetes, heart trouble, stroke are all part and parcel of being overweight. To say that over weight causes them is probably asking for a host of objections, but its generally true that they all are associated with those pesky extra pounds which fall into the obesity category as soon as they exceed 40 pounds over what has been pretty much the standard weight (normal) for the last 50 years.

Regular workouts keep you fit, which first of all means at a normal weight. They do this, PERIOD. And they cause other good things as well. These include escalated circulation, oxygenation of the tissues (including the brain, thereby minimizing the potential of Alzheimer’s) etc. Anyway, a few MDs believe this as well. I just wish all of them did, don’t you?

MDs are supposed to be healthy, right? Perhaps they always are. After all, you probably have never had an operation postponed because yours was sick. Same goes for your office appointments.

But what about his or even her physical condition? Is it better than yours? It should be, wouldn’t you think? There really shouldn’t be any excess poundage hanging over their belts.

Granted, the women MDs are generally more trim than their male counterparts. At least that’s how it is in my part of the country. But do they work out? Do they supplement? Do they eat low fat low carb diets? Or do they just not have time for lunch and breakfast?

Possibly yours is committed to healthy life style, but chance are he or she isn’t. That’s why telling them that you are going on a healthy regimen may raise an eyebrow. “Should be taking it easier at your age, dontcha think” is what you are probably going to hear.

What does this say, really? That the way we all are living is as OK as it gets? Or does it say that MDs are just so busy being healers that they don’t have tome to take care of themselves? After all, they are generally loaded with appointments and operation commitments, so maybe that’s it more than anything.

If you are starting off on a health conscious lifestyle, you need all of the support that you can get. That means being around people who supplement wisely, eat intelligently and do their daily workout routines. You need that kind of support. We all do. We just are not all very good at being pioneers.

Yet, Jack Lalanne 80 years ago had no one on his side really. He had to be a pioneer and he did just that. Today he is peerless. We can all be the same, but it will be easier if we consult with people like him instead of the MDs, who think that R&R is the only safe way to get us all into the nursing home in one piece, as they say.

How many of us are called Health Nut by those we care about? How many of us call ourselves Health Nut for living health consciously? The number is too big in both instances.

Are You a Certifiable Health Nut?
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=E._Mark_Clemens]E. Mark Clemens

What does it take to become a Health Nut?

Clearly, Health Nut is a put down which typically comes from the Normal Majority. These are your friends relatives and neighbors whom you consider to be the salt of the earth. They are the folks you celebrate the Fourt with, send Christmas cards to, do favors for.

Sadly, these important people have trouble with those who try to live in optimally healthy ways. That means being into daily sixty minute workouts, intelligent supplementation and low fat dieting. It also means being into things like green tea capsules instead of that sandwhich to “tide you over” or that quitting your workout early ‘cuz you you just don’t seem to have it today.

If you can do all of those things, not just one or two, I will dub you Health Nut. That’s how they made knights back in King Arthur times. You did a certain number of godd deeds and Arthur made you knight of the round table.

Today, doing these types of things gets you labeled. If this doesn’t come from others (only because you’re smart enough to keep your living habits under wraps) it comes from you. These are things mother never would have approved of unless of course you were out for the team hoping to win the state meet. Then it might have been OK, if you were sure to revert back to ez living and homemade apple pie during the off seasons.

Health Nut so defined should be replaced by health conscious and it should be OK. I trust you do agree with me on that, don’t you?Hint:: there might be an awfully larger number of healthy people in the USA today, ergo lesser health care costs.

Hi Readers

My name is Mark Clemens. I am all about people staying young forever and got that way after my one and only state championship in 1978. I was a terrible high school athlete prior to that and was even worse all through grade school– a fat kid nonethe less. So I’ve been at it for 45 years and practice what I preach.

From EverydayHealth.com:

Q: According to my workout program, next week I should be ready to increase the weight of my dumbbells and reduce the number of reps for each exercise. The problem is, the next heaviest set of dumbbells at my gym is too heavy for me to complete the entire set of reps. What should I do?

A: A good gym should have dumbbells that increase in weight by 2.5-pound increments up to 25-pound weights. If you are reducing the number of reps by 5, which is what I recommend, and increasing the weight by only 2.5 to 5 pounds, you should be able to get through all of the reps for the exercises. If you start to feel that you can’t do the last few reps, you can go back to the lower weight you were using over the previous couple of weeks. In general, you should pick a weight that’s heavy enough that you can just barely complete the prescribed repetitions with perfect form….for the rest of the answer click here!

“I wouldn’t work that hard for anyone” is something my father said after pacing me for 100 laps in the pool. That was about 43 years ago.

In his mind he may have been admiring my effort, but the effect on me was something other. Really he was expressing his own feelings of futility over hard work and preparing me for inevitable failure. This comment was followed a week later by the “higher you go, the greater the competition.”

I don’t know if he had any alternatives to this gloomy advice. unless they were to “be a good guy and make a living”. If so that probably meant “go through the motions of a job and do something responsible with your pay check. That’s what he was all about, as a good husband and dad, so perhaps that’s makes sense.

Getting back to the poolside comments, these affected me for about a week. It was harder for quite some time to get back to the pool for another workout. So much for the power of words from those we look up to. (I call these folks the Normal Majority in my book.)

Fortunately, I kept at it in spite of his defeatist attitude.Surely I felt like a Health Nut for keeping up my training, meager as it was back then. That is lucky. So many in similar circumstances, throw in the towel immediately. (Maybe that’s their way of saying that they wouldn’t work for anyone like that!?)

Who do we listen to when we do the opposite of what we should? The people in our heads, like our parents from long ago? Our friends who are counting on us to give up the Health Nut routine and act our age? Our spouses who may be uptight by the possibility that we just might start showing some transformational gains while they’re doing nothing?

People have natural aspirations–ones just like mine that have stayed active for 45 years. They have the power to prevail even over the supposed “heavy trips” of childhood or even spousal influence. The real question is what are YOU doing to fan your own flames that are similar to mine? (Keeping those red hot is the only way keep in on track, surely you would agree.)

The phrase “back-breaking hard work” is part of our American consciousness. It assumes that hard work will get you in the end, later, if not sooner.

The problem is that it’s opposite, ease, is supposedly good for you. This is the way to avoid breaking your back, presumably.

We talk like this. When pretty much anything is difficult we refer it as being “back breaking”. That’s a condition which will permanently disable you, even kill you. Consequently, we avoid it at all costs.

Clearly, if you shovel coal for a living, you will probably get a back injury eventually. If you shovel snow for bad winter, interspersing that with getting the car out of snowbanks, you may find yourself at a chiropractor.. If you were a slave in ancient Egypt (building pyramids)you would probably have gotten a back problem very early on.

But, how many of us are in these circumstances today? Aren’t most of us sitting in front of a computer or talking on the phone at a desk? These are sedentary activities, which are still referred to as back-braking work. That’s when we over do it, becoming victims of stress.

So much for the realities of work and back difficulties. What I am concerned with is the effect of this type of thinking on our perceptions of the common workout. This is generally seen as too much for anyone if you’re beyond high school age.

Friends, there is a widespread fear of hard workouts (which I have referred to elsewhere as workout o phobia. That’s why so many don’t do them. Some MDs are even wary of them when they know that regular and sustained physical exertion can ward off most of the maladies that plague our society (eg diabetes, stroke, heart disease, obesity). That’s enough to make me think that the phrase “back breaking hard work” should be replaced by “great feeling consistent motion”. Maybe if that were heard more often, there would be more people keeping their club memberships beyond the 90 day fall off point.

In this quick hit, I’m going to lead off with the conclusion.

In conclusion, Jane Fonda is still an idiot after all these years.

That’s a correct conclusion. So why do I call Jane “traitor” Fonda an idiot? Because she made the following quote:

“Every dictator—Stalin, Ceaucescu, Hilter—has made anti-choice a central component of their agenda. The anti-choice movement has used different strategies over the decades, growing more strategic and virulent in reaction to the modern U.S. women’s movement.”

Huh? That’s interesting that Hitler was pro-life. Wanna know why that’s interesting? Guess he wasn’t.

Huh?

Yea I said it! When Hitler came to power, he legalized abortion. It is estimated that 500,000 abortions were conducted annually under Hitler’s wing. In fact, some races that Hitler considered “un-desirable” were forced to have abortions.

It’s true; Stalin did ban abortion but was it because he didn’t want babies to be murdered before they were given a chance at life? No, Stalin was a socialist remember so he made abortion illegal so that he would have more workers once they came of age.

If I were Jane Fonda, I would cry too. Being an idiot isn't as easy as she makes it look

It’s cute that Fonda calls Pro-Life people “Anti-Choice” as if to say that Pro-Lifers hate freedom and don’t want people to be able to choose anything. This coming from a person who subscribes to a party that wants more government control and more regulations and government intervention. The word “choice” was given to pro-abortionist to empower women and their cause to commit legal murder. Just like a liberal to use words (albeit small ones) to twist things around and make others look like evil people who hate choice and love power.

She actually says in her rambling, ridiculous blog that pro-lifers are only pro-life because they want power.

Huh?

Yea that makes sense; pro-lifers only want abortion to be illegal because it makes them feel powerful. How long did it take you to pull that theory out your toilet, Jane? This traitorous swine shouldn’t be allowed to be within the walls of this country and here she is blabbing things and claiming facts that are simply inaccurate. Yea, let’s paint anti-abortionists as the bad guys. Hey Jane, this isn’t about women’s empowerment, this isn’t about women’s lib, and this isn’t about you feeling smart because you wrote an inaccurate blog. It’s about the life of an unborn child. This is the biggest genocide in human history and apparently it’s all about women feeling liberated and in charge. “This is about my body mister!” No it isn’t! Jane, you were a moron back in the 70’s when you hung out with America’s enemy while America was at war with said enemy. And you are still a moron today.

Here’s one last quote by Jane Fonda:

“Telling lies and showing off to get attention are mistakes I made that I don’t want my kids to make.”

Not only have you made those mistakes, but you continue to make em to this day. I guess that quote was a lie too. Weird

Good day,

When it comes to ultimate healthiness, which always includes working out, there is a tendency to say

When it comes to ultimate healthiness, which always includes working out, there is a tendency to say what if. I have gone through a number of these what ifs in previous posts, but the root of them has not really been exposed. So what is it? In my estimation, its the fear of doing what’s good for you-the fear of doing what’s necessary to maintain and escalate your vitality!

This is so absurd to me after 45 years of healthiness, that I can almost not write about it without smiling. How can a low fat low carb diet, a wisely picked assortment of supplements and a daily 60 to 90 minute workout be bad for anyone?

The most difficult of these is the workout portion. Probably this is because it takes time and is uncomfortable for the first two months or so. Too it costs money (health club dues). This it is not very popular. In other words, not many of your friends relatives and neighbors do it.

Those are the superficial causes. The deeper ones, I believe, have to do with a basic fear of exertion. Even one of my MDs is like this. It is as if he is expecting something very bad to happen to me because of my daily conditioning.

This country is in love with R&R rest and relaxation. This is the supposed good life which will get you comfortably and healthily to the end of your days. It even insures that you will have a place in the sun (assuming your investing works out) when you finally are able to retire and soak up the rays in Florida or Arizona. Isn’t that what you see the most when advertisers talk about mature adults?

Certainly you never see a vigorous octogenarian out running or swimming. That would be unthinkable. Such strenuous stuff is only for their great grandkids in high school. That may change in the next hundred years or so, but that’s the way it is right now. Anyone who has a problem with this is considered odd or strange (me, perhaps). What is normal right and even American is to take care of yourself(don’t overdue)so that you can rest up to die!

Friends, I am not interested in this kind of retirement. I’m not interested in any kind of retirement if that means hanging it all up and waiting around for my funeral. Where are you at?

Actress Jane Fonda recently revealed some of her beauty secrets. Apparently, one of the major reasons to which the star remains young is sex.

Despite some difficult times lately, the Hollywood legend kept her sense of humor and delighted us with some spicy details about her personal life.

“I owe 30 per cent to genes, 30 per cent to good sex, 30 per cent because of sports and healthy lifestyle with proper nutrition and for the remaining 10 per cent – I have to thank my plastic surgeon.

I’m 71 and physically don’t feel so good since I’m in pain. But I’m happier, the sex is better and I understand life better. I don’t want to be young again.

I just had surgery on the spine and can only run with a solid corset,

I also have a new knee and a new hip made of titanium. I’m slowly falling apart and feel like a walking spare parts depot.”

Jane Fonda has said that it’s her sex life that keeps her “better than ever” at 71 years of age.

Fonda, whose 1982 workout video is still the biggest seller in the market, said an active love life was partly responsible for keeping her looking young.

“How do I still look good? I owe 30 per cent to genes, 30 per cent to good sex, 30 per cent because of sports and healthy lifestyle with proper nutrition and for the remaining 10 per cent – I have to thank my plastic surgeon,” the Telegraph quoted her as telling German newspaper Bilt.

“I”m 71 and physically don”t feel so good since I”m in pain. But I”m happier, the sex is better and I understand life better. I don”t want to be young again,” she added.

The ‘Barbarella’ star is apparently planning a fourth marriage to music executive Richard Perry, 67.

She has previously been involved with Donald Sutherland, her co-star in the 1971 movie ‘Klute’, and French journalist, author, actor and director Roger Vadim.

What if you just don’t know what’s right for you? Some people are this way. They know they should be doing something, but don’t know what it should be. Maybe this is you. If so, please listen on.

I assume that you all are smart enough to peruse the internet, to sit on the side lines watching everyone else at the club, to browse sports books in the library. But maybe none of these activities have occurred to you. If not, that’s your first step. Get with being curious, going after some answers. Go get some inspiration over at the magazine store, the library or on the net. Find something that speaks to you and then run with it. (Not very much rocketly scientific, is it?)

In a day and age of always asking your MD before doing anything energetic, I encourage people to think for themselves. That’s partially because I confess to being a doctor-basher, but also because there are very few of them who look like they’ve been to a club in their lives. This is deplorable! In other words, you are better off seeking your own answers most of the time!

MDs should be parking their Benzes in front of the club and doing a daily workout that you can copy. They ought to be there as inspiration for you. But are they? No way. Ok there is one at my club and he is proud that he practices what he preaches. He drives a gray Lexus and we all like him. But he is rare!

I believe that you yourself will know what to do after a maximum of one whole day of reading the magazines which turn you on. I like the ones with Arnold or those with body builders who are like him, but that doesn’t mean you have to. Maybe you prefer the pilates variety or the running ones. It doesn’t matter. Find one that speaks to you and then do the listening. That will take away your I don’t knows.

The most important thing for you to do is to get a grip and get with it. You have got to translate a “what if” into something definite. What if you don’t know? Well, do you or don’t you? If you don’t, find some answers and get them to work their wonders for you. Your body will thank you for it long before you can ever imagine. All you have to do is stick with it, kind of like brushing your teeth. You’ve read that in my posts before, haven’t you?
