i have to agree with some buddies of mine and say that Jared Anderson’s version is amazing. Crowder’s is good too, but i think the Anderson version is the one our church will get. i also love the Jesus Culture Music version with Kim Walker.

This past weekend was the first ever Unleashed Fall Retreat. Amazing. Christ has put a special anointing on this song. We sang it together on Saturday night then it came up again on Sunday morning. May the words of this song grow deep in you.

PS: This song is originally by John Mark McMillan, performed here by Jared Anderson. I love the film techniques in this video. Love the colour also.

I really lack the words to describe how today’s service went. Lots of people came down at the end of the service. Some joined the church, one received Christ for the first time. Just an amazing day in our Lord. I think it started last night with a gentleman in is late 60’s accepting Christ and getting baptized. He’s sat in our church forever! No one knew that he wasn’t saved. Don’t be lulled to sleep in your churches out there people! Christ is alive and doing some awesome things!

In a nutshell: Having penned a handful of the modern church’s most sung worship tunes, Desperation Band founding member Jared Anderson tempers his artist persona with his associate pastor duties at Colorado Springs’ New Life Church. Corralling his home church folk for support, the personality of Anderson’s first live venture is undoubtedly congregational, with plenty of choir and crowd voices present in the mix. While his own vocal is distinctive enough to solo, its passionate delivery aids Anderson in the call to worship the greatness of God rather than man. Featuring ten new tracks alongside Anderson standard “Glorified” and John Mark McMillan’s “How He Loves,” Live is a worthwhile complement to any believer’s private worship time.

CD REVIEW From ChristianMusicReview.org I must be honest in saying that this album was my first expo

CD REVIEW From ChristianMusicReview.org
I must be honest in saying that this album was my first exposure to Jared Anderson and that reviewing live albums always gives me pause. Pause because live albums are (by nature) less refined than studio albums, more spontaneous, and key aspects of the actual performance are inherently absent on the album: stage and crowd dynamics. It’s highly difficult, if not near impossible to truly capture the raw energy of a live performance on record. In fact, I’d liken it to trying to retell a great joke delivered by a comedian – somehow it’s never as funny as it was the first time. This explanation often describes the difference between a studio version and a live version of a song.

But sometimes, live albums can go right, and when they do, they can represent one of the more significant records in the artist’s catalog. Hearing old songs covered in fresh new ways, or rare performances that convey the sound of primed musicians motivated by a great crowd on a great night, can offer a unique and intimate listening experience. When a consumer can pick up the record and step back into that kind of special moment again and again, a live record turns into the “must-have” title versus the easily forgotten, “for die hard fans only” release.

For his part, Jared Anderson’s latest release, “Live From My Church” gets it right. The album captures Jared and the band performing flawlessly with great soul, precision and praise. Jared’s organic piano style is much akin to the popular group, The Fray and he leads the church audience in “Live From My Church” like a veteran Michael W. Smith. The worship experience we’re dropped into is ripe with listener-friendly hooks and choruses. Jared seamlessly mixes popular favorites with new standouts, all the while ensuring that the mood of the album is never compromised and the momentum never lost.

Highlights on the album include Inside containing the lyrics: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard how the glory of God is gonna cover the world. It will silence the tongues of men; give our children freedom to dance again.they will dance again. I will be clay in the potter’s hand. I will be light in a darkened land. I will be love lit on fire; Holy Spirit burn on the inside.” Glorified, a hit song from Jared’s album “Where Faith Comes From” is even better as it’s performed live with a church choir and crowd echoes. Finally, I have to stop and take note of Jared’s signature cover of How He Loves. Next to Jared’s version, this song has been simultaneously released in recent weeks by Jeremy Riddle and the David Crowder Band. Nevertheless, Jared’s take is very much his own. While Jeremy Riddle’s soars and David Crowder’s paces, Jared Anderson’s How He Loves is much more subtle, introspective and emotive. A magnificent take.

Overall, “Live From My Church” is a career triumph for Jared. Fans (of which I am now one) will love him in the live format. Go out and buy this one, I highly recommend it!

CLOSING THOUGHTS
With great inspiration from a hometown crowd, Jared’s talent is forefront and on display on “Live From My Church”. This record captures Jared at his very best. This is a great live album you’ll want to listen to over and over again.

Jared Anderson releases “Live From My Church” in one month on September 21, 2009. Check out this video where Jared explains how this album unpacks “how to be a tree”. He says, “As worship leaders we’re in the foot-washing business This is what we do. People come to church and we soak them in the word, we soak them in the Spirit of God”.

New From Jared Anderson, one of today’s top CCLI songwriters, comes his first LIVE worship album, Live From My Church. Recorded at New Life Church in Colorado Springs. Jared leads an amazing night of worship introducing ten new songs as well as a LIVE version of his radio single “Glorified” and a new recording of John Mark McMillan’s “O How He Loves.” The song “Carrier” has become the theme song of a major mission organization and tour promotion will be built around the theme of Jared leading worship “live from your church.”

Starshine magazine had an interview with 100 Monkeys band members Jacksone Rathbone, Ben Graupner, Ben Johnson, and Jared Anderson which they talked about the origin of the band, music, their upcoming gigs and Jackson Twilight movies.

What’s the origin of the 100 Monkeys?

Jackson: The 100 Monkeys started with Ben G. and I–like 3 years ago–whenever he moved to L.A. We were roommates back in high school. We knew Ben J. back then, and we started the band as a two-man group just doing improv music and trying to get Ben J. out to Los Angeles to make some music with us. Along the way, we happened to meet up with Jared Anderson who we would jam with all the time. Now we all are together in harmony. It’s fantastic. CONTINUE READING…

Hello friends!

It’s that time again. Sunday Setlists is now in it’s 4oth- something week of going on now. That is just crazy! I think I have missed 1 out of the last 30 or so. Make sure to check out what everyone did at www.fredmckinnon.com, especially if you’re looking to introduce new songs to your congregation for praise and worship. It’s a great resource.

This week is the first week of the “Life Unchained” series of sermons in June by Dr. Barry Roberts. If you missed last weeks sermon entitled “It’s not for everyone” by Jason Harris. Listen to it here: http://www.etpalestine.com/podcast.html It is a message that the entire church needs t hear. Very powerful about how our American culture has snuck into and changed what the Bible actually says.

Alright, alright! Here is the setlist from today:

Walk-In Burn for You – Fee

This was the first time we played this one for our congregation. They seem to like it. Obviously U2 influenced! The first couple of listens to it and I was thinking “Where the Streets Have No Name” and the chorus to “I Will Follow” also could be sung as background vocals in there. Great tune and a lot of fun to play if you’re an electric player with the dotted eighth note delay going.

Revival – Robin Mark

It has been a long time since we’ve done this one. It’s at 140 bpm at 10 minutes long and poor Jason is keeping up with Metro Gnome pretty well but being worn down pretty quickly! Sidenote here. If your band isn’t playing with a metronome, it’s a great idea to start. We attended the East Coast Worship Conference last June and Michael W. Smith’s drummer taught a class. He said, “I will not play a single beat without a metronome in my in ears!” That guy’s a big time pro and plays with one! Oh yeah, and it’s made our drummer better!

You Are Enough – Eoghan Heaslip

Prayer/Offertory

Hear Us From Heaven – Jared Anderson

Yearn – Shane and Shane

Message – Dr. Barry Roberts “Life Unchained”

Altar:

Revelation Song – Kari Jobe

Thanks for dropping in and checking out what we do. May God continue to bless your efforts at your church.

Keep the Son in your eyes,

My home church, Res LIfe, is hosting the youth conference, Desperation, this weekend. My mom works at the church, and she asked me if I wanted to come help and volunteer. How could I say no to that? Today I was able to sit in on some of the worship time (which was awesome, I might add.) Jared Anderson, who is one of the leaders of the band, is amazing. Its one thing to rock out to his CD’s driving to a village in the middle of nowhere in Botswana, but its a whole other ball game to hear them live. Its one of the things I soooo missed in Africa…live worship! Needless to say, I was really blessed being able to enjoy some of the day and night listening and participating in the music.

Seeing the youth jumping around, singing, and dancing reminded me of our youth group, Fire by Night, in Botswana. We would sing and dance to music (CD’s) during our Friday night services. It made me realize how blessed America is to have these huge conferences, concerts, speakers etc. available pretty much everywhere. But, it also reminded me that God is the same everywhere we go. Whether its in a huge youth conference or under a tent in the Kalahari Desert, His presence is wherever we are and call upon Him. All the strobe lights, amps, musical instruments, stages, and sound effects are nice (don’t get me wrong; I love all that); but they’re not necessary. Thats what’s so incredible! You can experience God’s love through a loud, booming concert or the gentle whisper of the wind. Awesome!

Prayer Streaming – The Loving Heart When I first read the title of this chapter, I figured it

Prayer Streaming – The Loving Heart

When I first read the title of this chapter, I figured it would be a chapter about loving people. So it was going to be about the work I need to do. I was wrong. This is a chapter about loving God. I love to love God! And I know that as His love works in me I’ll get better at the other.

In the PrayerStreaming book, McHenry details the life of Madame Guyon and her move into being able to pray without ceasing. McHenry notes that as this woman of prayer came closer to God she knew Him more deeply as Father, Shepherd, Physician and Beloved. Today I’ll post this longer entry and talk about the Father part and tomorrow post about Shepherd, Physician and Beloved.

FATHER: Just to spend time with Him! I find I am better able to touch this on a more regular basis. It is becoming easier and easier to simply enter His presence. Why? I have to guess it is simply because I’m making a practice of doing it more often. Finding the secret place where its just God and Me. Or maybe it is recognizing when He is whispering over me. I don’t understand every word yet, but I recognize more and more quickly and frequently.

McHenry uses Zephaniah 3:17 as the main passage to illustrate God as our Father. Which just happens to be one of my all time favorite Old Testament verses of all time! Here it is in NASB.

“The LORD your God is in your midst,
A victorious warrior
He will exult over you with joy,
He will be quiet in His love,
He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.

Just let each of those phrases sit over you as you pray.

He is a victorious warrior. - What ever battle you face, He’s already won.
He exults over you with joy. – He loves to be around you! Most of us do not get that!
He will be quiet in His love. – There is a steady warm assurance with that one. This is a love that doesn’t end. And it invites you up to sit on the Father’s lap and simply rest and relax into Him.
He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.Now I missed this in NASB but the NIV puts it like this: He rejoices over you with singing. And there’s one of my favorite songs.

You dance over me
While I am unaward.
You sing all around,
but I never hear the sound.
Lord, I’m amazed by you.
How you love me.

Here’s the video of the song.
