Onhan ny ees lauantai? Taitaa olla… oon vähä sekasin päivistä. Mut ei niin mitään tekemistä, eikä tee ees mieli nalleja, mikähän ny on. .__.

Testoksen lauantaimeininki on tänään lähes yhtä mielenkiintonen ilmiö ku mykkä paskalla. Poikia ei meinaa näy eikä kuulu, tosin en oo käyny tsekkaa onko ne luukuissaan… ei jaksa. Mitsukin on taas kotona, sekin vaan nukkuu pienenä keränä mun työpöydän alla. Onneks voi aina tsiigaa tansseja! Tosin kohta pitää raahata toi pikimusta minihurtta ulkosalle.

No juu on tähän mun tylsistymiseen ja pienoiseen melankoliaan ehkä iha hyvä syykin.

Blaah, en tajuu… siit on kuitenki jo kauan aikaa ku meil meni poikki. P-manin kans ollaan purettu monta kertaa näitä Seija-Karzu -tuntoja ja todettu, et ehkä niistä siskoksista ei vaan oo helppo päästä yli, vaikka ne latais niskaan mitä paskaa. Nyt on pakko lykätä yks siirappinen tanssivideo tähän perään, vaikka se sit pyyhkis musta kaikki viimesetki miehisyyden rippeet… jos semmosia rippeitä nyt enää ainakaa lukijoiden silmis onkaan.

Tämmönen siirappivideo siks, et mulle tulee tästä mieleen vanhat hyvät ajat ennen sämpyläepisodeja. Ostin Kaarinalle meinaan muutama vuosi sit joululahjaks ton tyylisen sydänkorun, nii ehkä tää ny siks sohas taas johki aralle alueelle, vaikkei musiikillisesti oo kyl sinne päinkää mitä ite tanssin tai kuuntelen! Helvetin hyvin noi ton vetää kuitenki ja pakko mainita taas, et toi videon pimu on kyl hothot!!

Ny Lenkille Mitsun kans ja sit molskille huhkiin, jos vaikka tulis vähä äijempi olo taas vaihteeks ja maittais nalletki. xD Morot!

Quite the come on Sharks performance in their 5-4 shootout win over the Edmonton Oilers. After the 7

Quite the come on Sharks performance in their 5-4 shootout win over the Edmonton Oilers. After the 7-2 debacle last game against Chicago, I expected a bit more effort tonight, but alas, this is San Jose. Effort is harder to come by than a 2012 convention at your local church.

Patrick Marleau scored a hat trick with Joe Thornton as the set-up man on all 3. And every goal of Patty’s looked similar. All involved Joe being at or behind the goal line and throwing the puck to Patty in front of the net. Easy pickings for Marleau, who also tallied an assist later for a four-point night.

Ryane Clowe was the other goal scorer. He and Joe Pavelski camped out in front of the net, and Clowe pocketed the rebound.

Not many Sharks showed up tonight, unfortunately. And since all my angry emotions are drained from the Chicago game, I won’t be going off on them as much.

Please tell me why you wouldn’t play as hard as you could after a crappy performance. Your manhood was tested and you come back tonight with another ball-less act. You’re making a joke of yourselves. This should have been a blowout. Edmonton is destined for the NHL cellar and you guys needed a shootout to beat them? Really now?

I’ve avoided the Todd McClellan criticism, but this goes on him. I still don’t know what he’s like in the locker room, but if he doesn’t yell, that needs to change. This was inexcusable.

Joe Pavelski fights for position (From SJSHARKS.com)

OK, I’m really tired of talking about defensive letdowns but tonight it was as blatant as ever. One Edmonton goal came when Dan Boyle tried to bring the puck into the Oilers’ zone and was pickpocketed. A breakaway later, the Oilers were on the board. Another time, Jason Demers attempted a stretch pass, which was promptly intercepted. An offensive breakout later, another Oiler goal.

I guess I should just accept these kinds of things because that’s what Boyle and Demers do — try to create offense — but it’s just so annoying seeing it EVERY SINGLE GAME.

Tell Me Why

Kent Huskins and Derek Joslin were on the ice in overtime for a 3 on 3 situation. For the love of all that is holy, give me one good reason why those two have any business being out there.

Other Notes

Hit-O-Meter: SJ 16 EDM 22; Douglas Murray and Ryane Clowe led with 3 each.

Torrey Mitchell returned to the lineup for the first time this millenium; however, we didn’t get to see much from him. He accumulated 6:25 of ice time with one shot.

The Sharks play Vancouver on Sunday.

–Ray

There’s this thing on a certain social networking site, known as Facebook, where one writes up 25 things about themselves and sends the list to 25 people. The idea is to share intimate, less known facts about yourself with people of your choice. Instead of writing down my 25 things and posting it on the above mentioned website, I thought I’d toss them here and make a salad out of it.

1. Almost every morning, as I dress up my bottom, I glance in the mirror and smile with approval at the sight of my profile.

2. The more I cook, the more appreciation I gain for my mother’s culinary talents. I didn’t realize how good of a cook she was until I tried the trade myself. The goal is NOT to be able to make a few dishes I can later alternate when making dinners for my family. Instead, I cook to free my soul and go to heaven for having discovered and exploited my potential.

3. There’s something about Jason’s nipples I cannot simply resist.

4. I am on non-speaking terms with Starbucks for their new line of VIA Ready Brew. While the world screams “RECYCLE! USE LESS PACKAGING! STOP CUTTING DOWN THE AMAZON!” they come up with those tiny coffee sachets worth 1 cup each. Hello! Have you not heard of global warming and The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, which is twice the size of Texas?? These Starbucks people are bananas! Argh!

5. The awesome thing about the holidays is that Jason can’t stop me from making peanut butter and chocolate brownies, or a shit load of chocolate cookies, or even a brownie pie!

6. My favorite candy store? Sur la Table for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

7. My favorite day of the week? The bra-free day. I like to keep my girls free and give them all the play-time they want before I get them to work for food when I get pregnant next year.

8. Hey, Mister! Have you not noticed your car has built-in blinkers? Nooo, these are not Christmas ornaments. You ought to use blinkers all year round dammit. Oh, yeah, that’s a huge pet-peeve of mine.

9. I grew up surrounded by books. Love ‘em to the last page. However, since I started this blog, I’ve been mostly purging words rather then inhaling them. I miss that.

10. Cosmo is a four-legged Pelè in disguise.

11. I have a vivid imagination. In my head, I see pictures of myself and/or people close to my heart in extremely catastrophic scenarios. Those images come to me randomly and out of the blue. Often they are so realistic I start to cry. I am unaware of the origin of this condition. I don’t know how to overcome it either.

12. Beauty moves me. It fills up my chest till it hurts and I start to cry. Again.

13. I secretly fart.

14. I haven’t used a hairbrush in six months, since I cut my hair short.

15. I was a witch in one of my previous incarnations, who lived in the woods and brewed herbal concoctions for various ailments.

16. – 24. Last night I made a salad, a twist on Coleslaw, that was so good the world stopped spinning for a moment. It was so fantastic in fact it’s worth 9 points of the 25 Important Things From Agnieszka Graczyk’s Life. Here’s how I did it…

I bought a package of shredded cabbage. I’d have gotten a whole head if the store offered one, as you know how I feel about the unnecessary packaging, etc. They didn’t carry the veg in its natural form. Back in my kitchen, I emptied the bag into a large bowl and added shredded Granny Smith Apple along with a bunch of chopped scallions. In the meantime, I toasted maybe a 1/2 a cup if raw walnuts, let them cool, and then roughly chopped them into small boulders of brain nuts.

Don’t they totally look like brains? The truth is they are really good for your brain, so it’s a clever tip to remember. The smurfs that write on Whole Foods web pages made my life easier for describing in detail the nuts’ magic:

Walnuts have often been thought of as a “brain food,” not only because of the wrinkled brain-like appearance of their shells, but because of their high concentration of omega-3 fats. Your brain is more than 60% structural fat. For your brain cells to function properly, this structural fat needs to be primarily the omega-3 fats found in walnuts, flaxseed and cold-water fish. This is because the membranes of all our cells, including our brain cells or neurons, are primarily composed of fats. Cell membranes are the gatekeepers of the cell. Anything that wants to get into or out of a cell must pass through the cell’s outer membrane. And omega-3 fats, which are especially fluid and flexible, make this process a whole lot easier, thus maximizing the cell’s ability to usher in nutrients while eliminating wastes–definitely a good idea, especially when the cell in question is in your brain.

The salad would not be complete without the dressing I quickly whipped up in our Magic Bullet. These were the components:

- freshly squeezed lemon juice from 1 lemon

- 1 tbsp of honey

- 2 tbsp of heavy cream

- 3 tbsp of olive oil (the whole nine yards – organic, extra virgin, first cold pressing, etc.)

- 2 tsp of sea salt

- 1 tsp of black pepper.

Everybody in the bowl (the cabbage, scallions, apples, and nuts) got coated evenly with the silky dressing, then chilled in the refrigerator for at least 45 minutes before consumption time. Then I took a bite, and with it I heard music and saw fireworks on a horizon. It was amazing, beyond delicious. There was the tartness from the apples and the dressing, but instantly the nut took off the edge and spread comfort and bliss in my mouth.

I didn’t need anything else for dinner. That was my delight of the day. For Jason, however, I reheated leftover penne over pancetta and garlic, and grilled three chicken tenders. Just like that. Nevertheless, the salad still took the Guest of Honor’s seat, and got a round of applause. Pure brilliance on a plate.

25. I am madly and uncontrollably in love with that white boy from Texas named Jason Blaine. Moreover, I am madly and uncontrollably loved by that white boy from Texas named Jason Blaine. He loves me just the way I am.

Gobble, gobble…!

DISCLAIMER: Minor language. Proceed with caution. Quite the piss poor, I-feel-like-disowning-you

DISCLAIMER: Minor language. Proceed with caution.

Quite the piss poor, I-feel-like-disowning-you “performance” by the Sharks in their 7-2 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks. The Sharks should have just stayed home in their cribs and choked on their pacifiers rather than “play” tonight.

Joe Thornton: Hey guys, let’s step on the ice.

*SILENCE*

Team: …and do what Jumbo? Are you going to finish that thought?

Thornton: Ya know, step on the ice and succeed with good ol’ fashioned California chillin’.

Team: OMFG, you iz brilliant Jumbo! Why didnt us think of that?! LOLZ.

Give me a damn break. This was disgusting. Absolutely putrid. Um, helllllooooo? Um, hi? You little children play professional hockey. Sounds kinda cool when you think about it. How about you actually play the game. And try. Just try.

What the hell happened during this long layoff to make the Sharks play like a beer league team? They allowed three, THREE shorthanded goals. Two of them were on the same power play!

Nobody wanted to play, everyone played with jocks on their heads. Turnover after turnover, fail after fail. If there was any doubt left about our defense, those were put to rest. From now on, if anyone tells you the Sharks defense is good, go ahead and tell them to remove their secret Ducks jersey or to go watch the NBA.

What a joke. Jason Demers played his worst game of his career. Dan Boyle felt like playing with an injured foot because this was a big game. He did end up scoring very late in the game, but it’s refreshing to know he waited 56 minutes to do something with his life. He finished with a -4 rating.

Also joining Pimple — I mean Boyle — with a -4 rating were Thornton and Dany Heatley. For all the great stuff they’ve done recently, this game shat all over it. Good gracious, it was atrocious. They must be stunned to know you have to play defense too. What a concept!

Manny Malhotra does his best pylon impression (From NHL.com)

With five minutes left to go in the second period, the shots were 26-7 Chicago. What in the blue hell is that about? Seven shots after 35 minutes? I could get eight shots on net by doing cartwheels the whole time.

At that time it was 4-0 and after the fourth, Ryane Clowe took it upon his messed-up-nose self to take a penalty. Brilliant. What a smart hockey player. Take a penalty and you show those bad guys you can beat them even with a man down. Ryane Clown. Blow me up a balloon while you make a joke of yourself.

Let’s go ahead and give credit to Chicago. They came in with an exceptional gameplan and their coach Joel Quenneville and perfected it. Sharks coach Todd McClellan was lost in the Tao of Joel’s stache.

This is the Blackhawks’ eighth win in a row and they’re no signs of slowing down.

LOL WUT?

Frazer McLaren managed a +1 for the Sharks. Ha ha ha ha.

AHL

Five AHL players were in the lineup: Jamie McGinn, Benn Ferriero, McLaren, Steven Zalewski and Derek Joslin. Certainly looked like Worcester was playing.

Kent friggin’ Huskins…

…was on the power play. Yes. On the power play and caused the turnover that led to a Chicago goal. Don’t EVER put that guy on the PP again.

Optimism Corner

Hit-O-Meter: SJ 26 CHI 17

Faceoff Percentage: SJ 56% CHI 44%

The game ended.

Other Dreadful Notes

The Sharks’ injuries are plaguing them so badly now. Rob Blake, Devin Setoguchi, Jody Shelley, Brad Staubitz, Torrey Mitchell need to come back.

Per NHL rules, the Sharks are required to play again. They play Edmonton in Edmonton, Friday.

Summary:
Just because Sookie has broken up with Bill doesn’t mean her relationship with the supernatural world is over–especially when she finds Eric naked and suffering from amnesia on the side of the road. When she discovers from Pam that a league of evil witches have their sights set on ruling Shreveport, she agrees to hide Eric while the vampires, werewolves, and Wiccans attempt to fend off the witches. To top it off, Sookie’s brother has gone missing, which may or may not be related to the near-war going on.

Review:
While the books in the series so far have been improving, Dead to the World is definitely a step back.

The individual plot lines aren’t so bad, but Harris doesn’t do a good job of keeping them integrated and flowing. The book reads as if it has too many sticks in the fire. Just too much happens in such a short book. The reader is left feeling a bit of whiplash from the rapidly changing storylines and situations.

I knew Sookie would have a rebound after Bill, but I’d hoped Harris would be more creative than having that rebound be Eric. Don’t get me wrong. I like Eric better than Bill, but I also enjoyed the tension between him and Sookie. I wish that had lasted longer. Similarly, I don’t think giving Eric amnesia was a wise character development choice. I’m pretty sure anyone with amnesia plopped into the supernatural world would be a cowering mess. That doesn’t tell us anything about who Eric is underneath his persona. Sookie’s interactions with him therefore felt so fake that I not only couldn’t take real interest in them, I was also a bit grossed out by the falseness of them. I didn’t expect Sookie’s rebound to be emotional, but I did expect it to be more real.

On the other hand, Sookie’s character development takes a nice turn. Without Bill in the picture, she may have expected the supernatural world to pretty much leave her alone. Instead she finds out they still depend on her. Through the various situations, she starts to become a more empowered version of herself, and I enjoyed seeing that.

The best part of the book by far is Jason’s plot-line. I can’t say much more or I’ll give away the secret, but suffice to say that I hope True Blood gets to this part of the story sooner rather than later.

While I’m irritated by some of the character development choices Harris has made, I am still enjoying the world she has created. I am hoping though that the series returns to the tight, witty writing found in Club Dead.

After bugging Susan every year since we have been together, and giving her a hard time for not ever getting me one, I finally got my streets icecream birthday cake!

Although my birthday isn’t until Friday (it is jasonfest though so it’s all good, cake is allowed), we are heading to Sydney tomorrow for a few nights, so I got my cake early. I mean she could have gone the extra mile and taken it down to Sydney, but given the shenanigans last week, it’s probably safer having it tonight.

As the weather turns colder and bikers begin to hibernate for the winter, there are some simple tips you can do to keep your bike in good working order so when pull it back out in the spring you don’t have a headache on your hands.

Most importantly, store your bike in somewhat of a climate controlled environment. A garage or basement is perfect. If you never want to ride your bike again, go ahead and leave it by the side of the house and let snow pile up on it.

If you want to try to prevent some cable stretch, set your gears so you are in first gear in the front and the largest number gear in the rear. (7th, 8th, 9th or 10th.) The shift cables are at their least tension in these positions. You can also do the same for the brake cables by releasing the brakes.

It is also a good idea to give the chain one last good lube. This will give the chain a little bit more protection as it sits for a few months. It is also important to remember that your tubes WILL go flat during the winter. This is natural and DOES NOT mean you need new tubes in the spring. Rubber isn’t a completely solid substance and air will leak out over time. But if you are worried about this, put some air in your tires once every week or so to keep them up.

Follow these simple tips and you and your bike will be happy in the spring. Happy Thanksgiving everybody and LiveStrong.

Noah Biorkman died of cancer Monday in South Lyon, Michigan. He was 5. I feel a heavy heart for hi

Noah Biorkman died of cancer Monday in South Lyon, Michigan. He was 5. I feel a heavy heart for his family. And I also feel a happy heart for the good in humanity.

I learned about Noah from my colleague at Promega, Jason, who assumed I was a good-hearted person and forwarded me a link from Reddit. Noah knew he was going to die soon, and his family was going to have an early Christmas celebration for him. All he wanted for Christmas was Christmas cards.

So, (as my heart swells) the internet community rallied, and Noah received over 1 million cards before he died. He couldn’t even open them all. His family was overwhelmed by the response.

2 cards came from me and Jason.

On the way over to the Hallmark store, Jason and I pondered whether or not this was a some sort of sick joke set up by a cynical internet blogger. We both came to the conclusion that we were going to send cards anyway. We trusted the human condition enough to hope that it wasn’t a hoax, and that there really was a child on the other end that needed some love. And maybe that there were parents who needed to know that strangers in the world would share their pain when Noah left this life. Of course, it turned out to be a real story, not a chain letter, or a trick, and many, many people wanted to help. WE wanted to help.

So today, Jason IM’d me the news of his death. I’m sad. But I’m glad that I know that there are a million people out there who are probably also sad about losing Noah. And that cared enough to send him a card. It makes me feel better to know that the world is connected. That we aren’t as alone as we feel sometimes.

I’m going to hug and kiss my son an awful lot tonight.

Enough of this sappy post. I’m going back to work:)

For those of you who know about Noah:

In lieu of cards and flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Noah’s name to either of the following:

Hey freinds

I’m sorry I’ve been absent for the past few days. There are some things going on that I’m trying to handle as best as I can. You ever just have one of those weeks where you feel like everything is just crashing down on you?? I hate to be so negative or a debbie downer, but it just hasn’t been the best week for me (and it’s only Tuesday!)

Monday in class, I had (what I thought was) another heart attack. My teacher had to drive me to the hospital because my heart rate was 111, and my blood pressure was 177/84, and I just couldn’t catch my breath. So she drove me there and waited in the lobby until Jason and my mom came. I thank her immensely for that, she is the best teacher ever. I was wheeled to the emergency room where I was hooked up to all kinds of machines, blood was taken, xrays were taken and they had me there for a total of 5 or so hours.

When all was said and done, the doctor came in and told me that my heart is VERY healthy, as are my kidneys. My thyroid seems to be fine and that he can’t find out what is wrong with me. He suggested that it could be severe anxiety. And that something that is going on inside my body is manifesting itself into severe panic attacks. He also suggests that I try to relax and detach from work every now and then (which, I admit, I have a hard time doing)…he also suggested that I see a therapist. Sorry, not gonna happen.

I am aware that I am a very private person, and I don’t like to talk about my feelings (unless I can do something about them) a lot. But I don’t need to see a therapist. Yes, times are hard. Yes, I find myself not being able to pay for school next semester. Yes, I need necessities that I can’t afford. Yes, I work a full time job and go to school but so does everyone else in the world. I don’t need to see a stupid therapist. But I admit that I do need to try and relax more.

He prescribed me an anti-anxiety/insomnia medicine and then let me go. Jason drove me home and lay in the bed with me until I fell asleep, which wasn’t for long. I think I slept a total of an hour throughout the whole night, and today I am back at work. I feel totally out of my head, like my mind is just somewhere else today. I’m so tired.

I also found out yesterday that my grandmother has congestive heart failure and isn’t doing so well My mom informed that she has had it for a while and it’s getting worse. And you guys, I’m trying really hard to stay positive, but with the new hospital bill that is coming in the mail, and a new tuition bill that is due in 3 weeks..and the fact that I can’t afford to buy the things I need is just really getting me down. Jason has offered to help, but I’m a very independent person. It’s fine if he wants to pay for football seats or whatever, but I am responsible for myself and my healthcare.

The good new is: I am free to run again! The doctor actually suggested that I run and keep up my healthy lifestyle. I told him that running is how I releive stress, but he wants me to find an activity that isn’t hard/weary on my body that also helps to relieve stress. I am scared to run alone, so I think my next few runs will be with someone else in tow.

I will be back later this week

“The key to surviving an internship is denial. We deny that we’re tired, we deny we are scared, we deny how badly we want to succeed, and most importantly we deny that we are in denial. We only see what we want to see, and believe what we want to believe, and it works. We lie to ourselves so much that after a while the lies start to seem like the truth. We deny so much that we can’t recognize the truth right in front of our faces.”

I got the rest of my inking done yesterday for my half-sleeve tattoo. Jason Phillips at FTW Tattoo

I got the rest of my inking done yesterday for my half-sleeve tattoo. Jason Phillips at FTW Tattoo yet again did a great job. If you’re in the East Bay and looking for a great artist, can’t recommend him enough. Proof of his great work I’ve posted below in photographic form.

The inside of my arm wasn’t as painful this time, maybe because I twisted the hell out of my ankle in Indiana my last night there and it’s been throbbing ever since. X-Rays show it’s not broken thankfully.

I joked with Jason that if I wanted to get a full sleeve the rest would have to be an underwater theme since it’s under the boat. Awesome idea, but I don’t know if the full sleeve is for me, at least at this point in life. The other arm is open for anything and of course I’ve always toyed with the idea of getting more stuff on my back other than a robot and demon.

Honestly, I still love my first two tattoos, but almost regret them now because of the arm tattoo. The two images on my back mean something to me but they’re kinda just floating there all alone. This arm tattoo just makes me wish I had included them into a mosaic, something bigger than just themselves. I kinda wish now the arm tattoo was my first one, but I’m hoping I can work the other two into some type of pattern.

Anyways, I can’t make the arm tattoo one big photo like they do in tattoo magazines, so here are just a bunch of shots of it. Enjoy!
