Leading RIA products – Adobe’s Flash,  Microsoft’s Silverlight  and Sun JavFX are in the big challenge with the stunning features of HTML 5 … World Wide Web (W3C’s) HTML 5 having lots of features are the big challenge for leading Flash platform.

The main feature is no Plug-ins for the browser, how ever the above RIA products requires Plug-ins or Add-ons. Also it is ultimately reduces the loading time of the browser, however Flash Plug-ins and Silverlight plug-ins are taking time to load the application and also it is need to be download and install from the web.

No ano passado eu tive a excelente oportunidade de participar do JavaOne 2008, foi uma experiência muito enriquecedora e apesar de este ano não poder estar lá presente, eu não poderia deixar de fazer um levantamento dos principais acontecimentos e novidades apresentadas no evento para ficar por dentro de tudo, e claro, deixar vocês, queridos leitores, em dia também.

O Slogan do evento no passado foi Java +You ou Java + Você, neste ano houveram três: Java  = Everywhere ou Java = Em toda a parte, Java + Community = Powerful ou Java + Comunidade = Poder e Java = Innovation ou Java = Inovação. Um outro acontecimento especial deste ano é o aniversário de 14 anos do Java, o vídeo abaixo, que foi exibido na abertura do evento, apresenta rapidamente alguns pontos fortes da evolução que a tecnologia sofreu ao longos dos anos:

O presidente da Oracle Corporation, Larry Elisson afirmou que a Oracle sempre investiu na plataforma Java e que agora investirá mais do que nunca. Veja alguns momentos no KeyNote no vídeo abaixo:

James Gosling apresentou a Java Store, um site que catalogará aplicações Java que poderão ser instaladas facilmente em seu computador, algumas delas simplesmente através de drag-and-drop no desktop (arrastar e soltar).

No segundo dia, houve uma General Session chamada Your Lifestyle: Mobile, TV and Beyond em foi demonstrado o uso de Java nos mais diversos dispositivos como celulares, televisores, Blu-ray, etc e destacou-se como o JavaFX poderá ampliar ainda mais este mercado em expansão.

Esse divertido vídeo foi apresentado em uma General Session e conta a história do Java.

JavaFX

Falou-se bastante sobre as novas tecnologias Java SE 7 SDK, Java EE 6  e Jaxa FX 1.2, mas principalmente sobre Java FX, essa tecnologia recebeu grandes investimento da Sun e promete transformar a forma com que se desenvolve aplicações de alta qualidade de ambiente gráfico com Java. Os dois vídeos abaixo publicados por Augusto Sellhorn do Blog Sellmic.com exibem parte de uma demonstração de JavaFx em que é possível ver ferramentas de animação JavaFX muito semelhante com que se conhece com Adobe Flash e Microsoft Silverlight.

O pessoal do JavaPosse entrevistou Octavian Tanase e Jacob Lehrbaum sobre o JavaFX, vale a pena conferir (em inglês).

Brasileiros no JavaOne

Mais uma vez o Brasil foi muito bem representado por congressistase palestrantes que marcaram o evento. Magno Cavalcante e Clayton Chages apresentaram a Technnical Session: “Java™ in the Brazilian Digital TV: Interactivity and Digital Inclusion on TV“.  Ainda sobre TV Digital, David Campelo apresentou a “TS-4453: New Java Digital TV Standard Goes Brazil“. A Dupla Marlon Luz e Bruno Oliveira, também deixaram suas contribuições brasileiras com a palestra Java ME Myth Busters, confira a entrevista (em português) realizada pelo Sérgio do JavaBahia.

O brasileiro Felipe Gaucho que atualmente trabalha na Suiça esteve no evento e postou em seu blog suas impressões. O Baiano, Serge Rehem doJavaBahia também participou do evento registrou sua impressões.

O Classpath está morto!

Mark Reinhold, Chief Engineer do Java SE, disse isso durante a demonstração da forma com que o Java 7 gerenciará módulos. Vale a pena dar uma olhada no projeto Jigsaw que tem como objetivo resolver de forma eficiente as questões da modularização no JDK, esse projeto está sendo construindo segundo a JSR 294: Improve Modularity Support in the Java Programming Language. Segundo Raja Islam o benefício principal que será alcançado com a modularização será a redução do tempo de carga e deploy de aplicações Java.

Microsoft no JavaOne

Pode parecer estranho, mas a Microsoft apresentou a General Session do terceiro dia do JavaOne. No momento em acontecem as General Sessions não há nenhuma outra apresentação ocorrendo simultaneamente e todos os congressistas presentes participam, ou seja, são apresentações de grande importância e alcançam a maior parte do publico do evento.

Dan’l Lewin, Vice Presidente Corporativo da Microsoft, falou sobre esforço que vem sendo realizado a cinco anos desde o inicio da parceria entre a Microsoft e Sun para promover a interoperabilidade entre aplicações Java e .NET, segundo Lewin em uma entrevista realizada pela Microsoft no ano passado com mais de 5 milhões de pessoas, constatou-se que 73% dos entrevistados trabalhando em ambientes mistos (Java + .NET). Outras linguagens sobre JVM

Ola Bini da ThoughtWorks,  famoso por participar ativamente na comunidade open source e por desenvolver a linguagem de programação Ioke, também participou do evento e destacou o projeto Da Vinci, segundo ele, essa tecnologia contribuirá para que a Java Virtual Machine se torne melhor. Ola Bini também apresentou sua BOF 4434: Hacking JRuby.

BOF significa (Birds-of-a-Feather), as BOFs  são palestras informais, interativas e flexíveis. No JavaOne, geralmente acontecem no final do dia com assuntos complementares aos discutidos nas technical sessions (TSs) ou palestras técnicas que acontecem durante o dia.

Charles Nutter também esteve lá falando sobre o projeto JRuby que … No vídeo abaixo, Nutter falou um pouco a tecnologia:

Rich Hickey falou sobre sua linguagem: Clojure, que também roda sobre a JVM. Para saber mais confira os slides de sua “TS-4164 Clojure: Dynamic Functional Programming for the JVM Machine“.

Neal Ford fez uma comparação entre as linguagens Ruby e Groovy em sua “TS-4955: Comparing Groovy and JRuby“.

Falou bastante sobre JRuby, Jython, Scala e Groovy.  Nesta entrevista para o JavaOne, Guillaume Laforge da SpringSource comenta um pouco sobre isso:

Destacou-se também o lançamento da versão 1.6 da linguagem Groovy, confira a “TS-4215: What’s New in Groovy 1.6?” por Laforge.

Bill Venners, da Artima Inc., apresentou um pouco da linguagem Scala em sua “TS-4487: The Feel of Scala“.

Roberto Chinnici falou sobre programação funcional e orientada a objetos com JavaScript, seus slides podem ser visto neste link.

Java, uma plataforma em evolução!

De acordo com Jim White, o Java 7 está previsto para ser lançado em Fevereiro de 2010. Jim participou de algumas palestras que tinham como tema principal a evolução do Java, e disse que muitas das decisões para o Java 7 ainda não foram tomadas, o que indica que ainda há bastante trabalho pela frente. Enquanto ao Java 6, White, diz que será lançado mais cedo, em Setembro de 2009.

Joseph Darcy da Sun Microsystems, na “Ts-4060: Small Language Changes in JDK Release 7” apresentou algumas das mudanças que serão feitas na linguagem Java. Darcy chamou a atenção da comunidade para que torne-se parte da evolução e que participando e contribuindo, através do projeto Coin que tem essa finalidade.

Servlet 3.0

A especificação vem evoluindo através da JSR 315 e entre as principais novidades está a possibilidade de configurações toda a aplicação através de annotations ao invés de utilizar o arquivo web.xml e maior utilização do principio CoC (Convetion over Configuration) que visa diminuir a quantidade de configuração. Existem annotations para registrar Servlets, Filters, Listeners, e até mesmo para declarar regras de segurança e permissões de acesso.

Um outra recurso que ganhou bastante repercussão foram os novos Servlet Assíncronos, para maiores informações confira a “TS-3790: Java Servlet 3.0:Empowering Your Web Application With Async, Extensibility and More” apresentada por Rajiv Mordani, Greg Wikins e Jan Juehe.

Bean Validation

Validação através de metadados nos JavaBeans como no Hibernate Validator. Confira a “TS-5184: Bean Validation: Declare Once, Validate Anywhere – A Reality?” apresentada por Emmanuel Bernard da JBoss sobre o assunto.

Java Server Faces 2.0

Ed Burns e Roger Kitain, ambos da Sun Microsystems, apresentaram a “TS-4640: A Complete Tour of the JavaServer Faces 2.0 Plataform” onde falaram sobre as principais novidades do JSF 2.0. Nesta nova versão do JSF teremos melhor suporte a Ajax, componentes compostos que possibilitará melhor reuso de código e melhor suporte a eventos. E para completar ainda mais a discussão sobre JSF no JavaOne, Kitto Mann da Virtua, na “TS-5205: Writing Killer JavaServer Faces 2.0 UI Components” apresenta diversos conceitos importantes se criar inovadores e eficientes componentes JSF 2.0 e David Allen da RedHat falou sobre fluxo de páginas (page flow) e conversação (converstation) com JSF na “TS-5045: Converstations and Page Flows on the JavaServer Faces Plataform“.

EBJ 3.1

A evolução dos Enterprise Java Beans continua, na versão 3.0 pode-se notar grande avanço e uma simplicidade muito grande ao se comparar com versões anterior, nessa nova versão a meta de aumentar a simplicidade se manteve, por isso, a forma de empacotamento dos aplicativos foi simplificada e criou-se o EJB Lite API, que é um conjunto reduzido das funcionalidades disponíveis na especificação completa do EJB.

Além da simplicidade, novas funcionalidades foram incluídas como por exemplo, objetos Singleton, Callbacks de Startup e Shutdown, Timers baseado em Calendars, Session Beans assincronos e integração com JAX-RS. Para maiores informações confira a “TS-4605: Enterprise JavaBeans 3.1 Technology Overview” apresentada por Kenneth Saks, Senior Staff Engineer da Sun Microsystems.

Java Persistence API (JPA) 2.0

Linda DeMichiel da Sun Microsystems, na “TS-5214: Java Persistence 2.0: What’s New?” apresentou as principais novidades da JPA que evolui através da JSR 317:

1. Modelagem mais flexível
2. Novas formas de mapeamento O/R, novas annotations
3. Java Persistence Query Language mais poderosa
4. Criteria API
5. Suporte a Validação
6. Novos padrões de configuração

A Implementação de Referência ou Reference Implementation (RI) da especificação é o projeto EclipseLink que tem como base o antigo projeto da TopLink da Oracle. Andrei Badea da Sun e Dogule Clarke da Oracle apresentaram na “TS-5018: Developing Java Persistence API Applications with the NetBeans IDE and Eclipse Link” de forma um pouco mais prática como utilizar a nova API. Mike Keith da Oracle fez uma apresentação completa sobre os conceitos de mapeamento da JPA na “TS-5265: A Java Persistence API Mapping Magical Mystery Tour“.

Context Dependency Injection for Java EE

Gavin King da RedHat apresentou na “TS-6726: Context and Dependency Injection for Java Plataform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE Plataform)” uma introdução o que a especificação JSR-299 trará de novo ao Java EE. Segundo King teremos um novo e rico modelo de gerenciamento de depedências com suporte a objetos statefull, integração da camada web com a camada transacional, será muito fácil construir aplicações utilizando EJB e JSF juntos, e frameworks terceiros poderão facilmente integrar-se a API.

Spring 3.0

Rod Johnson da Spring Source apresentou as novidades do Spring 3.0 na “TS-5225: Spring Framework 3.0: New and Notable“. Segundo Johnson, o trabalho em tornar o desenvolvimento de aplicações Java para Web mais simples e poderoso continua, por isso, os arquivos XML serão ainda mais curtos, havendo necessidade de utilizá-los somente quando for preciso externalizar algum recurso.

A nova versão traz suporte a REST, melhorias no MVC e expression language. O Spring 3.0 será compatível somente com Java 5+.

Spring Roo

O Spring Roo é o mais novo projeto da Spring Source, e segundo Jim White, é uma espécie de Rails, também com muita meta-programação, que tem como base apenas Java e Spring. Rod Johnson disse que a missão do Roo é melhorar dramaticamente a produtividade de desenvolvedor Java sem comprometer a poder e flexibilidade através de geradores de código que proporcionarão a entrega rápida de aplicativos corporativos robustos e de alta performance.

Google Guice

E por falar em Spring, o Google Guice, também vem ganhando bastante espaço no mercado como framework de injeção de dependência, e os Googlers Bob Lee e Jesse Wilson, falaram sobre ele na “TS-5434 Introduction to Google Guice: The Java Programming Language Is Fun Again!“, confira.

Eclipse Galileo

Depois do Calisto, Europa e Ganymede, vem aí o Eclipse Galileo. O lançamento está previsto para 24 de Junho. O release incluirá 48 projetos, o destaca bastante crescimento, ao se comparar como o Ganymede que contemplava apenas 24 projetos. Em 26 de Junho, a Eclipse Foundation fará uma apresentação chamada Galileo in Action onde serão apresentadas as principais funcionalidades do novo realease.

Google App Engine

Como comentei no artigo anterior, o Google App Engine agora possui suporte a Java, e claro, isso não poderia deixar de ser assunto de destaque no JavaOne, por isso, os Googlers, Toby Reyelts, Max Ross, e Don Schwarz, apresentaram a “TS-3817: Google App Engine: Java Technology in the Cloud“.

Effective Java

Joshua Bloch do Google, que teve intensa participação do desenvolvimento da linguagem Java, desde o JavaOne 2007 vem de falando sobre boas práticas de programação, e destacando tópicos de seu livro Effective Java, em sua “TS-5217: Effective Java: Still Effective After All These Years” manteve o mesmo padrão dos anos passados.

Prêmios do JavaOne e Java Toy Show

No último dia do evento, James Gosling apresentou o Toy Show, onde foi apresentado diversas situações onde pessoas e empresas por todo o mundo utilizaram Java de forma inovadora, e também foram distribuídos os prêmios dos ganhadores do Duke’s Choice Award.

Conclusão

O JavaOne 2009 não trouxe tantas pessoas como anos anteriores, este ano apenas 9.000 pessoas se reunião enquanto em edições anteriores do evento mais de 25.000 estiveram presentes, é claro que existem diversos fatores para que isso tenha acontecido como a crise econômica e a gripe suína, por exemplo, mas de toda forma há uma grande diferentes que nos leva a reflexão. Neste ano o evento nos trouxe diversas tecnologias, frameworks, projetos e iniciativas que prometem manter a plataforma em constante evolução. Fiquemos Ligados!

We, as Sun Campus Ambassadors, represented Sun Microsystems at Swedish Game Awards 2009 final ceremony on 13th of June at KTH main campus. Game awards is one of the biggest game development contest and Sun Microsystems is one of the biggest sponsors of this event.  This year around  200 people visited the stands and talked with us about Java and Java FX. We encouraged students and professional game developers to use Java FX and distributed Java books and mugs.

The competition started in 2002 as a sub-project to Excitera, the student-driven entrepreneurship association at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), and was then called KTH Game Awards. Excitera Mobile Awards, a mobile application development competition, was started a year later and is now a part of Swedish Game Awards. The Categories for Swedish Game Awards 2008 have been changed to reflect changes in both technologies and the industry. They have now put the focus on the game, instead of on the platform. When contestants design a game, it doesnt matter what target platform they have intended for it, as long as the prototype runs on either Windows XP, OSX (as a Universal binary) or Linux (latest stable build of Ubuntu). The competition also support emulators and so called “mods”, modifications of existing games, such as Half-Life 2 or Unreal Tournament.

After a very tough final round Robert Larsson, from Chalmers University, won the Java FX and best execution awards by his game Imperii. We would like to congratulate Robert and hope to see more Java FX projects in the market.

  I am very attracted by workflow and rules engine after working with hardcoded business rules in various legacy systems. The learning curve seems to be very steep to me, but this investment will be returned once you get it rolling. …the OSS adventure continues!

I have recently developed an interest in Adobe Flex SDK and exploring it as much as I can. Actually, I am building a project using its 3.0.0 version with Adobe’s Flex Builder 3 (based on Eclipse Platform).

Hey, I know there’s also something known as FlexBeans being developed by some of NetBeans Community members. I haven’t yet tried it out, but have a look into it in near future.

Flex looks really cool, building up “Presentation Tier” for your Web Applications has become so easy, i.e. resulting in “Rich Internet Applications” (RIA’s). I also know there’s Java FX out there by Sun Microsystems and I have also started to look into it, due to their Java FX Coding Challenge and might soon be out with my own applications, instead of running the demo’s.

Sun Microsystems Inc. has announced the launch of the JavaFX Coding  Challenge http://www.javafx.com/challenge, a coding contest that offers both professional and student developers a unique opportunity to win up to $25,000 USD in cash and have their application featured on the JavaFX.com Web site.

What to do ?

Developers and students are required to create and develop rich internet applications using JavaFX 1.1 and NetBeans 6.5. The call for entries is open to persons of legal age in more than three dozen countries.

What about the prizes?

Sun is offering a number of prizes, with a top award of $25,000 USD in addition to cash prizes of $10,000 USD and $5,000 USD. There is a special category for students at an accredited college or university, with three $1,500 USD cash prizes that will be awarded to the top student applications. Students will not be limited to competing in this category, and are eligible to vie for the larger prizes as well. Additionally, Sun will award up to 100 honorable mentions, which will each earn a $25 Amazon gift certificate.

What is Java FX?

Java FX is a runtime with supporting tools and technologies that enable content authors and developers to create new content that combines the best capabilities of the existing Java platform with new immersive media services, which can be securely accessed from mobile phones, desktop browsers, TV and other consumer devices. The JavaFX platform is unique in that it allows content developers to focus on creativity, and not coding, while enabling them to create expressive content through the use of one platform across multiple media assets. The latest JavaFX Mobile platform was released February 12, 2009.

Important Dates?

The contest runs now through May 29. The entries will be judged by a panel of experts, to include members of the JavaFX engineering and product marketing teams. The winners will be announced during the week of June 29.

The Archived Internet

If you had to store three petabytes of data and keep it online for the entire Internet community, and you wanted to save space and energy, what would you do? For the Internet Archive, the answer was simple: Put the data in a Sun Modular Datacenter (Sun MD) equipped with Sun’s Open Storage technology.

The new Sun MD was installed in March 2009. It is equipped with  (Thumper) Open Storage Systems that run the Solaris 10 OS, including the Solaris ZFS file system. Sun’s servers with Solaris ZFS storage pools enable the Internet Archive to double the storage capacity of its old system while using up to 50 percent less power than other servers would use.

The Internet Archive is also using Sun’s new Sun MD remote monitoring service. Sun engineers monitor power, heating and cooling, fire, smoke, and water detection, and physical access points, and will dispatch repair technicians if necessary.

Ada yg tau istilah RIA (Rich Internet Application) ? RIA adalah suatu teknologi yang dikembangkan untuk membuat web browser itu seolah-olah sama seperti desktop kita. Aplikasi-aplikasi yang bisa running di web browser kita, dengan kata lain aplikasi-aplikasi tersebut “langsung bisa dipakai secara Online”. Perkembangan web mulai lebih berkembang daripada teknologi-teknologi desktop. Pernah merasa bosan ketika menggunakan aplikasi web dan harus menunggu lama loading page suatu browser ?? pernah merasa membuang-buang waktu lama hanya untuk menunggu loading page selesai…haha Nah, teknologi RIA menjawab masalah anda tersebut. Dengan RIA, web browser anda seolah-olah adalah desktop anda. Loading Page nya hanya sekali di awal, seperti Flash, sangat menarik!Selama ini yang menggunakan RIA ada 3 pemain besar, Adobe, Microsoft, dan Sun.

Dengan bertambahnya tuntutan kemampuan dari aplikasi web atau pun sebuah website, diperlukan pula teknologi yang semakin canggih untuk memenuhi tuntutan tersebut. Tuntutan tersebut misalnya aplikasi web dengan interface yang menarik, interaktif(melibatkan audio, video, grafik, animasi dan rich text) tetapi simple dan enteng. Aplikasi internet dengan kemampuan-kemampuan seperti itu biasa disebut Rich Internet Application(RIA).
Di penghujung tahun 2008 lalu, telah dirilis teknologi baru bernama Java FX, yang merupakan bahasa scripting. Java FX ini dimaksudkan untuk membuat RIA. Namun sekarang, kemampuan Java FX malah telah dikembangkan sehingga dapat berjalan di desktop, web maupun mobile. Selain itu Java FX didesain agar developer dan desainer dapat bekerja dengan sinergis menggunakan workflow. Maka dari itu, Java FX menyediakan fitur yang dapat terintegrasi dengan Adobe Photoshop dan Adobe Illustrator untuk para desainer, lalu gambar-gambar atau ilustrasi-ilustrasi tersebut langsung bisa disisipi kode oleh developer.
Karena masih baru, mungkin belum banyak yang belum menggunakan teknologi ini. Tapi saya sendiri telah mencoba dan melihat sendiri kemampuan aplikasi-aplikasi yang dibuat oleh Java FX. Hello! Here is my first post and i just wold like to say that here I’ll post somethings about Web Development, Web Design, Tech news and some off-topics things else some times (just to see something different on this blog).

Java FX Banner

Well, on the first post I’ll like to say how excited I am with the Java FX and the new and powerfull things that we now can do with it. I’m not saying that the RIAs is something new on the Web Development, we well know that the Flash is there like the most used technology to build RIAs and with it we have Adobe’s Flex, Microsoft’s Silver Light. But the Java FX bring to us (Java Developers) a way to build RIAs with a native programming language. But not only this, all aplications made with Java FX run above the JVM and this make possible to run web applications on your desktop (browser independent, just drag the application to your desktop and we are ready to run out of the browser!). And we are not able to do this just to the web applications but also all the plataforms that java can run (desktop, web and mobile). Now with Java FX Mobile we can build RIAs to mobiles devices, and that runs native! This is just fabulous. Imagine all the powerfull, beaultifull and easy to use RIA on your mobile device, and running native. This is a little advantage above all the others RIAs technologies that we have today.

I’m clearly a bit behind the times. This week was the first time I’ve listened to a Podcast, even though I’ve had an iPod since the days they only came in white!

Java Posse

Most Java developers in industry are probably aware of the Java Posse. For those of you who are not aware, the Posse are four senior Java developers/engineers from some rather interesting companies:

• Tor Norbye, from Sun Microsystems. Tor currently focuses on IDE development, specifically NetBeans.

• Carl Quinn, from Google.

• Dick Wall, previously from Google, now at Navigenics.

• Joe Nuxoll, also from Navigenics.

Having developers from such diverse companies express their opinions and experience produces a really interesting and useful podcast.

Of particular interest to any Java developer is the feature list of the upcoming Java EE 6 specification, discussed in the Holiday 2008 Special podcast.

This Ain’t Your Dad’s Java

This Podcast series is hosted by members of the JavaFX Sun marketing team. JavaFX is Sun’s RIA (Rich Internet Application) platform, pitting them against Adobe Flex (more…) and Microsoft Silverlight (more…).

As the podcast is hosted by the marketing team of a specific technology, there is clearly a risk of bias in opinions and assertions made, but whilst the core of the podcasts revolve around Java FX, other technologies are discussed in relation to this.

I found it was worth a listen, if even just to get up to date on the latest and greatest in Java FX, and the mention of known applications using the technology is worth a look.

JavaFX, produk terbaru keluaran Sun Microsystem secara resmi dirilis tanggal 4 desember lalu. Menurut CEO Sun, Jonathan Schwartz kehadiran JavaFX bakal mengobrak abrik peta pertempuran teknologi web yang saat ini diramaikan oleh Flash, Ajax, OpenLaszlo, Silverlight dan AIR.

Harapan Sun, JavaFX dapat memberi kebebasan bagi developer untuk mengembangkan apa yang disebut sebagai RIA (Rich Internet Application) yaitu sebuah aplikasi web yang mempunyai efek interaktif, animasi dan tentunya kesan wah dari sebuah website.

JavaFX sendiri merupakan bagian dari keluarga besar Java, setelah J2SE Standard Edition untuk pengembangan aplikasi desktop, J2EE Enterprise Edition untuk aplikasi skala besar/web enterprise, J2ME Micro Edition untuk hardware mobile.

Kehadiran JavaFX merupakan unit tersendiri yang sangat lengkap, didalamnya terdapat penggunaan JavaFX Script yang bisa menggantikan peran Javascript, juga terdapat JavaFX plugins untuk Netbeans, yang dapat digunakan untuk membangun user interface melalui Netbeans IDE yang telah populer lebih dulu.

Kelebihan utama JavaFX diyakini adalah konsep OpenSourcenya yang bisa mengalahkan Flash milik Adobe dan Silverlight milik Microsoft. Untuk menghadapi Ajax, JavaFX memiliki senjata keamanan/security yang tidak dimiliki Ajax dimana javascript yang terkirim lewat web dapat disusupi script malware.

Bagaimana dengan kelemahan?

Penyakit utama platform java adalah lambat, JavaFX ternyata juga mengadopsi penyakit yang sama, silakan coba demo di situsnya JavaFX, sebuah aplikasi yang di Flash waktu loadingnya sangat singkat maka dengan JavaFX bisa 2x lebih lama.

Kelemahan lain adalah JavaFX sebenarnya dirilis agak terlambat mengingat Ajax semakin memiliki kuku yang sangat kuat di kalangan developer web. Untuk sebuah produk opensource, dukungan komunitas adalah yang paling penting, semakin banyak developer yang terlibat maka semakin banyak aplikasi dan pengembangan yang akan dihasilkan.

Saat ini Ajax telah melebihi penetrasi Flash dalam penggunaan applikasi web, berbagai platform juga telah tercipta dengan konsep ajax, Silverlight adalah saingan berikutnya yang kelemahannya adalah bersifat komersil ala Flash, saingan opensource hanya dari OpenLaszlo walaupun komunitasnya masih belum terlalu besar.

Potensi

Peluang terbesar JavaFX adalah karena nama besar Java dan Sun Microsystem, rilis JavaFX untuk Mobile memang belum resmi dirilis, tapi diyakini dengan masih kuatnya dominasi software Java untuk Mobile (handphone, PDA dll) diyakini JavaFX dapat masuk dengan mudah, bahkan versi untuk Google Android sudah dipersiapkan.

Bagi programmer yang punya dasar pengetahuan pemrograman Java, mempelajari JavaFX akan lebih mudah, apalagi bagi yang sudah menggunakan IDE netbeans.

Ditambah lagi, Sun belakangan mengakuisisi MySQL, sebuah database yang telah tersohor di dunia web, masih ditunggu kolaborasi khusus JavaFX dengan MySQL yang berasal dari satu vendor.

Wanted: JavaFX Programmer

SmallSebagai produk baru, JavaFX kini sedang menyusun kekuatan di komunitas, mereka menawarkan para programmer untuk mempelajari JavaFX script untuk kemudian mengembangkan aplikasi web sebanyak-banyaknya. Kalau Ajax melahirkan platform seperti JQuery, Mootools dll, Sun kini menunggu para developer untuk segera membangun aplikasi dengan kemampuan JavaFX.

Bagi programmer atau calon programmer yang punya waktu luang, cepat pelajari JavaFX supaya anda menjadi salah satu pelopor atau pengembang awal untuk komunitas JavaFX. Sun menyediakan tutorial lengkap serta video untuk mempelajari JavaFX dan JavaFX Script.

Ya existe otra alternativa a Flash y a Microsoft Silverlight, Java FX es la plataforma de desarrollo de aplicaciones enriquecidas de internet que nos presenta Sun Microsystems, incluye el entorno de desarrollo, la suite de producción y el escritorio.

Las llamadas RIA (Rich Internet Applications) están tratando de ganar adeptos, y las últimas actualizaciones de Adobe Flash y de Microsoft Silverlight precisamente estaban destinadas a ofrecer más y mejores prestaciones en este tipo de servicios web que también pueden ser llevados al escritorio. Sun no desea quedarse atras y ahora nos ofrece Java FX.

La primera versión de esta plataforma ya está disponible en el sitio oficial de la misma, además de contar con ejemplos y tutoriales para desarrollar aplicaciones enriquecidas.

Param Singh, director senior del departamento de marketing de Java aseguró que “nuestra meta ha sido la de crear un entorno que permitiera a los desarrolladores diseñar la aplicación una vez y ejecutarla a través de todos los entornos posibles. Los dispositivos móviles se conforman como el primer caso de esta característica. Esperamos que se encuentre disponible a comienzos de 2009”.

La suite de producción, denominada JavaFX Production Suite, es un conjunto de herramientas y plug-ins que permiten a los diseñadores web reducir de forma importante los tiempos de producción. La conversión en un solo clic de los distintos formatos de medios hacia JavaFX permite utilizar, por ejemplo, diseños de Photoshop o Illustrator muy fácilmente.

“Gracias a la utilización de esta suite, los desarrolladores pueden colaborar de forma más eficiente con los diseñadores gráficos a través de un intercambio de medios sencillo”, dijo Singh. “Las aplicaciones resultantes mantendrán un aspecto consistente a través de los distintos navegadores y plataformas”.

Por último, el denominado JavaFX Desktop incorpora las características más importantes de la plataforma Java Standard Edition (Java SE) 6 actualización 10, ocmo es el caso de la implementación del plug-in Java, que permite a los usuarios arrastrar y soltar módulos que se están ejecutando en otro navegador, directamente al escritorio, lo que proporciona una experiencia similar a la de los widgets tradicionales.

I love jigsaw puzzles.  One of my favorite things to do during the holidays was to work a really big  jigsaw puzzle with my family.

So you can imagine how happy I was to finally get a few minutes to play with the Java FX Picture Puzzle tonight.  Just logged in to Facebook, and went over to http://apps.facebook.com/javafxpicturepuzzle/Puzzle to play.  It was even more fun when my daughter nudged me over so she could play, using a photo of one of my quilts, of course.

Earlier in the evening, I’d downloaded the latest version of Java, so I’d be sure to get the best Java FX experience. (JavaFX.com works much better with 6 update 10 or higher.)  I was amazed at how easy that was, too.  I just went into the Control Panel, and there was a little Java button.  Inside that were all kinds of goodies, including a magic “Update” button.  Hurray!  Not only did I get the latest and greatest Java, but I also got a Yahoo toolbar, with quick links to my e-mail and MyYahoo aggregator pages and everything!

So after having fun with the puzzle on Facebook, I decided to go see if the JavaFX website was any faster, now that I had the new Java bits.  Indeed it was, and what’s more, I found the code for that Puzzle!
