DMX stopped by, The Breakfast Club, this morning and in true DMX fashion, he was very open and controversial, they asked him about everything from Jay Z and why he felt that he was dropped from Def Jam, to his thoughts of MTV’s ‘Two Hottest MCs in the Game,’ and his drug problems.

DMX on being dropped from Def Jam: 

“He (Jay Z) was trying to eliminate the competition.”

DMX on Rick Ross when C Tha God compared him to Biggie:

“Rick Ross looks more like Biggie,” “he’s alright,  he just talk about eating, and you know his girlfriend too much, I mean how much can you eat? How much weed can you smoke?”

Who impresses DMX?:

“ME, J. Cole is nice, J. Cole is nice.”

Angela Yee – “What about Drake do you like Drake?”

DMX: “NO, I don’t like anything about Drake, I don’t like his f#@%!* voice, I don’t like what he talks about, I don’t like his face, I don’t like the way he walks, like nothing, I don’t like his haircut.”

Jeanius Thoughts:

I love this, DMX is one of my favorite rappers, ever, and I really hope that he can exercise his personal demons and be the old DMX that we all knew and loved. His music has always been in heavy rotation on my iPod. So I hope that he can come back and be the DMX of old, Cody and myself aren’t big Drake fans ourselves so those shots were more than welcomed.

MTV released their Top 10 MC’s in the game this week, with the Top 5 being named on a special last night on MTV 2, Rick Ross topped their list, but he didn’t top either of ours. To be fair, we based our lists on the criteria that MTV based their list off of which are:

The criteria to be considered a Hottest MC are based on a combination of impact, buzz, sales, lyrics, swag and the intangibles.

I’m basing my picks off of how big the MC was in 2011. I’m taking into account the new music the MC released in 2011, along with songs they were featured on, and album sales. This isn’t my personal top 10, however.

1. Eminem
2. Kanye West
3. Jay-Z
4. Lil Wayne

6. Rick Ross
7. Kendrick Lamar
8. Lupe Fiasco
9. Wale
10. J. Cole

• In my book Eminem is still top dog. Bad Meets Evil’s Hell: The Sequel was one of the top albums (EP’s) of the year no question.
• You can’t argue with what Wayne and Drake are accomplishing, as hard as that is for me to say.
• Ross doesn’t deserve to be ranked higher than the likes of Eminem, Kanye, and Jay. Ross was on the Maybach Music album, which was not better than Hell or Watch the Throne, but he was featured on everything.
• Kendrick Lamar, despite my issue with his PR team, could be on here solely because of Section.80, but you throw in his features on Take Care and The R.E.D. Album, and he is definitely deserving of a top ten placement.
• Despite Wale’s horrible performance at his concert here back in December, he’s still one of the ‘hottest’ out.
• I think Cole and Lamar were the biggest exclusions from MTV’s nominee list, you can’t go an hour without hearing J on the radio.
• I went back and forth on whether or not to add Lupe to this list, and ultimately decided to include him. While Lasers wasn’t what everyone wanted it to be, it still achieved success. The album debuted at number one, and is Lupe’s second Gold certified album. Add that to his Friend of the People mixtape and features with Travis Barker and Pharrell, Patrick Stump, Big Sean, and Trae the Truth — Lupe deserves a placement on this list.

Now let’s see what Jean has in store, I’m thinking he goes Kanye at number one?

You guessed correct, let me start by saying that I don’t have as big of an issue as most people have with MTV’s list based off their criteria, I will add and remove two people from the list and do A LOT of shuffling around. One quick thing, Cody while I’m not a big Eminem guy, I can’t deny his greatness, but one EP that only had one single is NOT enough to put him at the top of the list, he’s not even on mine, anyway let’s get to it:

• Now before you give me a hard time on my list, keep in mind that this isn’t my personal favorites, but based off MTV’s criteria, so here we go.
• Kanye West, is my favorite, but coming into 2011 he was riding off the success of the consensus #1 overall (not just rap) album of 2010,  and had the most highly rated rap album of 2011, according to; Time, Rolling Stone, and Billboard magazines, with, Watch the Throne, sounds like enough to take the top spot. Add a highly successful tour and add that he swept the rap categories at last Sunday’s Grammy Awards, and I think it’s deserved.
• While I am nowhere near a Drake fan, you can’t deny what he’s been doing. He set the record for most #1 singles on the rap charts, with 11, and like one of the panelists said on MTV, could you imagine what urban radio would have sounded like without Drake in 2011?
• Like Wayne himself said, “Men Lie, Women Lie, numbers don’t,” I am nowhere near a fan of his or Nicki’s music they clearly have a huge following, and you can’t deny that. Two of the top selling rap albums and top overall albums of the 2011. Plus radio airplay out the ass, so to not include them in this list is letting your inner hater out.
• Like him or hate him, but I’m sorry, but Jay Z should NEVER be in the bottom half of a list like this, that’s all
• I was going to put Ross lower, but they made a good point on the show, about how other people that probably wouldn’t have made their list (Wale & Meek Mill), probably only made it because of their affiliation with him and MMG. The building of his MMG brand also had a lot to do with his taking the top spot. The one knock on him, for me, is sales. He’s never had a first week of over 200,000, and that’s big, at least in my book. Most of the people on their list, and mine, have outsold Ross, so he loses points for that.
• J. Cole, Lupe, and Wale all fall in the same group, they all saw some commercial success this yeay, and their album sales forced radio stations to play their music. Simple as that, this was a great year these type, as they all had big singles this year.
• I am going to give honorable mention to Mac Miller, the first independent artist to have a #1 album with next to no radio airplay is pretty good to me.

Now, while we here at Thoughts of a Jeanius aren’t the biggest fans of one, Lebron James, I have to side with him on this one. He allegedly had a very heated exchange with a heckler in Washington during their 106-89 victory over the Washington Wizards last Friday night.

There are the tweets sent out by Sarah Kogod of NBC Washington about the altercation:

LeBron was waiting alone in the backcourt when fan Bob Moore made a comment to LeBron about Delonte West and LeBron’s mom…

…According to Moore, LeBron said “The only reason you talk [expletive] is because you know I can’t come off the court right now and beat your ass”…

…Also according to Moore, LeBron continued “But if I had a free pass, I’d kick your ass right now.”…

…Moore replied “I’m right here baby. Let’s go” before security stepped in.

Jeanius Thoughts:

As much as I dislike Mr. James, I have to side with him on this one, it’s never a good idea for athletes to engage with fans. There’s only so much a man can take, I can only imagine how much he gets this during games, on Twitter, and out in public. You can only ignore it so many times, and while I don’t think he would ever really take it out on someone, I am sure that it will make people think twice before they try and mess with him, especially about this topic. This guy got his 15 minutes of fame, now it’s time to move on.

There are many people who are upset about the Grammy given away for Best New Artist to little known artist Bon Iver. I predicted this was going to happen in my Grammy predictions, which were posted yesterday, but written about a month back. Many people were upset about J. Cole and Nicki Minaj not winning, which really shouldn’t have been a surprise, if Drake and Justin Bieber didn’t win last year there was no way these two had a chance.

This is what I posted in my Grammy prediction post yesterday:

This one is one that most people expect to be a slam dunk for Nicki Minaj, but I don’t see it that way. Bruno Mars got screwed here, because he won a Grammy last year for Best Male Pop Performance, for “Just the Way You Are,” but his album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, came out too late for him to be nominated last year. Otherwise he would be the slam dunk choice here. Bon Iver is the only artist here who is nominated for any of the other Big 4, Record and Song of the Year, so I pick him to win here. I also feel as though his work on Kanye West’s, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, will make his win not seem like an Esperanza Spalding moment when Nicki Minaj doesn’t win here.

Predicted Winner: Bon Iver
Preferred Winner:Bruno

In the 53 year history of the Best New Artist Award, there have been a total of 10 rappers, including Nicki and J. Cole this year, nominated for the award. Of those 10 only two, Arrested Development and Lauryn Hill, have actually won the award. Add to that the fact that, like I said above, Bon Iver was the only nominee who was nominated for any of the “Big 3,” Awards of the night, Song and Record of the Year. He also took home a Grammy for Best Alternative Album and was featured pretty heavily on the album that won Best Rap Album, Kanye West’s, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. When you add all these factors together it should not have been too hard to see the writing on the wall. Congrats to Bon Iver, as well as the other nominees, considering J. Cole and Nicki Minaj joined a very small group of Hip Hop artists just being nominated for the award.

So there’s more fallout from last nights lackluster Grammy Awards, there were some very good performances. The runway choice for performance of the night was Jennifer Hudson for her tribute to Whitney Houston, Adele also had a very good performance, as was the tribute to dance music featuring; David Guetta, Deadmau5, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, and The Foo Fighters.

• Rihanna channeling her inner Tina Turner for her performance tonight, too bad she’s nowhere near as talented as Tina is
• This Beach Boys tribute is cool, but why is it happening? I would have much rather see a “Moves Like Jagger,” performance
• Nice performance by Sir Paul McCartney there
• Just like I said, if this award was given out on TV, Chris Brown would win. Looks like his circle of redemption is complete
• I hate these random ass I’m a presenter, but I’m going to perform real quick performances. They annoy me
• After that win, there is now no doubt in my mind that Adele is going to sweep “The Big 4″ tonight
• I’m sorry, but Katy Perry doesn’t do anything for me as a performer, she sucks
• It’s crazy to think that just a few months ago it was thought that Adele’s career was over. Her doctors did an amazing job in such a short time. She doesn’t sound like someone who just had vocal surgery a few months ago. (She still looks like she’s about 35 to me)
• What’s with all these random ass tributes on tonight’s show?
• I called Best New Artist, and I’m sure my boy Yeezy is happy about this as he was featured prominently on his album
• LOL at the people who thought J. Cole or Nicki Minaj were going to win Best New Artist, guess you didn’t learn your lesson last year

• Jennifer Hudson did an AMAZING job on the Whitney tribute, but I wish they had more artists perform more of her hits

• That dance music tribute was pretty cool, but again what’s with all the tributes tonight?
• Who’s bright idea was it to give Nicki Minaj a slot to perform on the Grammy’s? What the hell was that?
• “Need You Now,” is my JAM! #dontjudgeme, Lady Antebellum is here to present another award to Adele
• I love when people win awards and are genuienly appreciative of them. Adele’s acceptance speech, LOL at her snot comment, that was out of left field and pretty gross to be honest.
• Wait, the show is over? I thought we were going to get a Lady Gaga performance to kick off and end the show and we got neither…

Overall this show was kind of disappointing to me, I always look forward to the Grammy’s and they kind of disappoint. I know they had less than 24 hours to try and put the Whitney tribute together, but with all that talent in the town for the show they could have easily had more artist do some Whitney classics. It’s pretty sad that one of the best performance came from someone, Adele, who less than six months ago had surgery on their vocal chords, and this was her first performance. I said this on Twitter and I’ll say it here, while Adele was the runaway choice for Album of the Year, last years choice, Kanye West’s ‘Twisted Fantasy,’ was released after the cutoff for the the 2011 Grammy Awards, and he would have been the only nominee that would have made me any where near second-guess that Adele would win. So in a way the show was too predictable. I could have done without two Chris Brown, and Paul McCartney performances each, I wanted more Whitney! There was nothing about this show other than the two things that I mentioned that were very noteworthy, to me,which isn’t what you want for the biggest night in your industry. Congrats to Adele who was the big winner, and being the first artist to sweep the Big 3, Record, Album, Song and Record of the Year) since The Dixie Chicks in 2007.

On Grammy weekend, the music industry was hit with shocking news about the passing of music legend Whitney Houston, she was found dead in her hotel room, where she was in town for the Grammy Awards. It’s crazy how we always expect people to bounce back from their personal demons,, but it still shocks you when they don’t. I know many people were waiting for her to make her big comeback, unfortunately it is not going to happen. I know that this is sudden, but I hope that they can pull some sort of tribute for the Grammy’s tomorrow night. We here at Thoughts of a Jeanius would like to send out condolences to her family, while not only the music industry, but the world mourns the death of a legend. RIP Whitney Houston.

I will always say that this is the best performance of a song EVER, it is untouchable!

The Grammy Awards are coming up in tomorrow, and while I am upset with some of the nominees, I am a professional so I will bring you my predictions for the show. The 54th Annual Grammy’s go down tomorrow, February 12, 8/7c on CBS. Adele is the runaway favorite going into the night, and will definitely walk away with the most trophies tomorrow night as the artist with the most nominations, Kanye West, is going against himself in several categories.

Since I don’t know about all of the over 100 categories I will keep my predictions to “The Big 4,” which are the general categories, Pop, R&B, and Rap.

The Big 4

Record Of The Year

• “Rolling In The Deep” – Adele
• “The Cave” – Mumford & Sons
• “Grenade” – Bruno Mars
• “Firework” – Katy Perry
• “Holocene” – Bon Iver

This is a simple one right here, there is a good possibility that Adele will run the table at the Grammy’s, her album was the highest selling album not only in the U.S., but also worldwide. Top 10 singles, an album that spent most of the year in the Top 10. Adele is not nominated for the most awards on the big night, but there is no doubt that she will win the most awards.

Predicted Winner: “Rolling In The Deep” – Adele
Preferred Winner: “Rolling In The Deep” – Adele

Album Of The Year

• Doo-Wops & Hooligans – Bruno Mars
• Wasting Light – Foo Fighters
• Born This Way – Lady Gaga
• Loud – Rihanna
• 21 – Adele

This is a pretty weird category as four of the five nominees are also nominated for the Best Pop Album category. A few months back I posted about a problem I had with the inconsistency of the Grammy’s, this year that clearly won’t happen as I expect Adele to win both Album of the Year and Best Pop Album. I don’t know how Rihanna got put in this category, but I’ve already expressed my opinions on that issue. I am still shocked that Kanye West didn’t get nominated for this with ‘Twisted Fantasy,’ considering it was the runaway, no pun intended, choice for best album of 2010.

Predicted Winner: 21 – Adele
Preferred Winner: My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy – Kanye West

Song Of The Year

• All Of The Lights – (Performed by: Kanye West)
• The Cave – (Performed by: Mumford & Sons)

A lot of people don’t know the difference between Song and Record of the Year: Song of the Year is an award for the song as a whole, Record of the Year is for the song writers. So if an artist is nominated for Record of the Year and didn’t write the song, they technically didn’t win anything. Against my better judgment I will go with Kanye West  for the win here, as a consolation prize for being snubbed for Album of the Year,

Preferred Winner: All Of The Lights – (Performed by: Kanye West)

Best New Artist

• The Band Perry

Bruno Mars, Pink, and Lady Gaga who would usually be favorites in any category are just in the wrong place at the wrong time this year. Bruno and Gaga are literally against Adele in every category they are up for, and it seems like they are going to get steamrolled by a runaway train by the name of Adele.

Predicted Winner: “Someone Like You” – Adele
Preferred Winner: “Someone Like You” – Adele

Best Pop Duo/Group Performance

• “Moves Like Jagger” – Maroon 5 & Christina Aguilera
• “Body And Soul” – Tony Bennett & Amy Winehouse
• “Pumped Up Kicks” – Foster The People
• “Dearest” – The Black Keys
• “Paradise” – Coldplay

I am kind of upset that “Good Life,” by One Republic wasn’t nominated here, as that was a pretty dope record. Anyway, while “Moves Like Jagger,” is the biggest hit out of the bunch and I would like to see them win, generally artists do pretty well at the Grammy’s after they pass. Also consider that Amy Winehouse was a “Grammy favorite,” as I like to call them, it only makes sense to go with them for the win.

Predicted Winner: “Body And Soul” – Tony Bennett & Amy Winehouse
Preferred Winner: “Moves Like Jagger” – Maroon 5 & Christina Aguilera

Best Pop Vocal Album

• Doo-Wops & Hooligans – Bruno Mars
• The Lady Killer – Cee Lo Green
• Born This Way – Lady Gaga
• Loud – Rihanna
  
• 21 – Adele

Mama, there goes that wo(man), this is a play on a line Mark Jackson used to use when he was doind announcing NBA games, I think it fits pretty well here. Nuff said.

Best Dance Recording

• “Raise Your Weapon” – Deadmau5 & Greta Svabo Bech
• “Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites” – Skrillex

David Guetta is without a doubt the face of dance music right now, and has lead the charge of dance music moving into the mainstream here in the U.S., that alone may warrant him winning this award here. This might be a bit tighter than people expect though, as there are some pretty good nominees here.

Best Dance/Electronica Album

Once again, this is Guetta’s award to lose, Nothing but the Beat, was widely successful. It was one of the Top 25 albums in sales worldwide and also produced his highest performing song on the charts, “Without You,” (ft. Usher). This album also featured some of the heaviest hitters in the music industry; (Usher, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Jennifer Hudson, and more). Sounds like a winning combination to me.

Does anybody still even care about R&B Music anymore? It barely gets any radio airplay anymore, and what I thought was the best R&B Song of 2011, Miguel’s “Sure Thing,” which was also the top song for 2011 on the R&B/Hip Hop Billboard charts, didn’t eve get a nomination. Anyway let’s get on with it.

This is a pretty tough category, on paper, but Jay Z, Kanye West, Eminem, and Lil Wayne rule the rap awards at the Grammy’s. I wouldn’t be surprised if any these won, I want to pick “Look At Me Now,” but I can’t see a Chris Brown song winning, Best Rap Performance, and I believe that Young Money’s radio dominating duo will, together, win their first Grammy’s tomorrow night, and I’m fine with that.

I’m glad Kelly Rowland, got the nomination here, as if she and Miguel both got snubbed for I’m not sure how I would feel about that. This one is easy for me, as Kanye is nominated for Song of the Year, while none of the others are not. You know what I am going to go out on a bit of limb here and go with an upset, “All of the Lights,” wasn’t a necessarily a great collaboration, so I’ll go out on a little bit of a limb here and pick Kelly Rowland for the upset.

Best Rap Song

Considering the fact that I, and many other people think Kanye West had the Album of the Year, this one should be obvious. It’s weird, because, Lasers, didn’t go over too well with even hardcore Lupe fans, and, Tha Carter IV, didn’t really get great reviews besides from the “Wayneheads,” as I like to call them. It’s between, Watch the Throne, and ‘Twisted Fantasy,’ so either way it’s a win for my boy, Yeezy.

It was reported that Dwight Howard has soured on the idea of re-signing with the Lakers if he was to be traded there, due to a conversation with Kobe Bryant, during the off season. Kobe reportedly told him that he wanted Howard to be the Lakers version of Tyson Chandler. The report stated that Kobe wanted Dwight to be the third offensive option behind himself and Pau Gasol, and anchor the defense the way Tyson Chandler did to help the Dallas Mavericks win last season’s NBA Championship. A series of e-mails were exchanged between The New York Post’s Peter Vescey and Bryant which were released earlier this evening.

Here is the back-and-forth between the two:

Vescey: “Please separate truth from fiction for me re: Howard stuff.”

Bryant: “As far as what? I have no clue what’s even being said. I have a lot to deal with as it is.”

Vescey then sent the report to Kobe.

Bryant: “omg! I’m not getting mixed up in this kiddy drama spit, bro. too old for that spit,”

Vescey: “How do you think I feel at my age having to chase down this stuff,”

“I understand your position. But if it’s untrue, any of it, and allowed to circulate throughout the league, which already is happening, I would think you’d want to say it’s not.”

Bryant: “It’s not true,”

***I am going to assume the two “spit’s,” were a cause of the dreaded auto-correct***

This sounds about right, even if Kobe felt this way, why would he say that to Dwight Howard, unless of course he doesn’t want Dwight traded to the Lakers. This could be a possibility, Kobe has already played with the “most dominate big man in the league,” — fellow “Superman,” Shaq — and we all know that Kobe is hell bent on doing it as much by himself as possible. While Andrew Bynum is considered a close second when it comes to Center’s in the NBA, most fans and analysts don’t consider him as dominant, all around, as Dwight is. So it’s very possible that Kobe may not want to “share” the glory of that sixth championship that he’s publicly stated that he wants.

March 1st is quickly approaching, and it’s a very important date to this whole Dwight Howard saga, as that’s when players who signed contracts in the off season can be traded. This includes the Orlando Magic’s, Glen “Big Baby” Davis and Jason Richardson, as well as Tyson Chandler — who it was rumored that the Magic contacted the Knicks about his availability — then two weeks to the day, March 15, is the trade deadline.

So for those of you that have been following the site for a while, you may remember that somehow I got hooked into doing something that I had never done, which was watch a televised talent show. I saw the commercials hyping Season One of NBC’s, The Voice, and decided to check it out, I got hooked in, and decided to write weekly reviews of the show. I also gave predictions and was right more often than not, Season Two kicked off Sunday night after Super Bowl XLVI. I won’t write a full review until the battle rounds start, but I will give some thoughts on the first two nights of the show.

Episode One

• Is it just me or is Christina Aguliera looking more and more like Snooki, from Jersey Shore?
• I love the interaction, of the judges, especially when they’re giving their pitch as to why they should be chosen.
• I love how Adam keeps reminding everyone that he was the winning coach of Season One
• I am not sure how Chris Mann, will go over when the voting begins. Unless his song selections change.
• There’s no way Christina remembered that guy from the, Mickey Mouse Club, because if she did she would have said it while he was standing in front of her.

Episode Two:

• The judges performance was a good way to kick off the show, and it reminds everyone of the talent that is helping these artists out
• I’m sorry, The Line might not be a couple, but they have to be friends with benefits. Right?
• Blake’s reaction to all four judges turning their chair around was hilarious.
• I love trying to guess which coach artist will pick, and when I saw the snippet of Jamar, before commercial I knew there was no way he’d end up on any team but Cee-Lo
• I’ll say this, Jamar is one artist who won’t ever have a groupie problem, I’m sorry, but I had to do it.
• Can someone tell me what Christina Milan’s fine ass did, I fast forwarded past her segments LOL.
• I like that there isn’t an age limit, because it’s cool to see someone like Kim, 50, still be able to get her chance at stardom.
• If Dez picked a different song, I believe he would have made gotten picked.
• Lindsey’s performance, above, was on the the most original covers I’ve seen, it reminded me a lot of Dia’s performance of Kanye’s “Heartless,” last season.
• It was also dope to see the judges faces while they tried to figure out what song she was singing.
• Jermaine Paul, did another sweet cover of Avril Lavigne’s “Complicated”
• I will say though, that he seems a bit too cocky for my liking, he’s talented, just seems like he’s feeling himself too much.

It’s New Music Tuesday here at Thoughts of a Jeanius, and a few weeks back, we told you about Brandy and Monica getting together for the first time in 14 years, when they bursts on the scene with their smash, “The Boy Is Mine.” Cody’s pick is “I’m On 2.0″ by Trae Tha Truth feat. Big K.R.I.T., Jadakiss, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, B.o.B., Tyga, Gudda Gudda & Bun B.

Mean Jean’s Pick:

I told you you’d see the track here, when it was released, yesterday Monica was on Atlanta’s V-103 and she premiered the song. I like the song, and it actually makes me look forward to her new album, New Life, that’s dropping on April 10.

Thee Cody Taylor’s Pick:

This is a remix to “I’m On” featuring Lupe Fiasco, Big Boi, Wiz Khalifa, Wale & MDMA. For both tracks Trae got help from pretty much a who’s who in the hip-hop game. What I liked about both songs is the way they put each verse on and not including a hook in between each, otherwise this song would be 8 minutes long. Check the remix out, I like Cole and Lamar’s verses the best.

So some people take this whole Facebook/social media stuff to a whole new level. Two Atlanta teenagers were arrested for breaking into the CNN building to check their Facebook.

The two teens, Aldayne Fearon, 18, and Francis Mutemwa, 17, drove to the Omni Hotel, which is next door to the CNN building, and jumped over a fence to gain access to the building. They then went to the fifth floor and when they were arrested, at 3:30 a.m., they were both logged into Facebook. The two were arrested on criminal trespassing charges, and drove to the hotel in Mutemwa’s red Mercedes, which was towed from the scene after their arrest.

Ok, so first of all if I broke into the CNN building, checking Facebook would be the last thing on my mind, I’d be trying to get me some airtime LOL. Also if you’re 17 years old and drive a Mercedes chances are that you have a smart phone which can easily access Facebook from, so why do they need to break into CNN to check their Facebook pages. They will all definitely get in on the coaches vote, which will be announced next week, but this clearly shows that Chris Bosh is the red-headed step-child of the Miami Heat. You would think that the same people who were voting for Lebron James and D. Wade would vote for him as well. It’s also pretty ridiculous that  we’re not even 30 games into the season and the All Star starters have already been announced, I understand the circumstances, but  still.

Rick Ross’ rap persona might be catching up to him, and not in a good way. DJ Laz of Power 96′s, The DJ Laz Morning Show, is reporting that a group of cars entering Ross’ neighborhood was shot up on Sunday night.

Laz’s sources tell him that after Ross’ party Sunday night at Club Amnesia, a group of cars was entering his Broward County neighborhood, when a car allegedly rammed one of the vehicles. Then the people in the vehicles opened fire on the cars with an AK-47 and an AR-15. Now while the story isn’t confirmed, what is confirmed is that shell casings from an AK-47 and an AR-15 were found at the entrance of the neighborhood. It hasn’t been reported that Ross was in any of the vehicles, and he’s been tweeting so I think it’s safe to assume that he is ok.

I hope one day these rappers learn that they need to get off this thug stuff. Everybody doesn’t have to be a thug, the life these guys are pretending to live a lot of people really live. And that, is why things like this happen, because the real gangsters want to see if they’re really about that life.

Back in 1996 Keith Sweat had a great year, which saw him come back to the top of the Pop Charts, his self-titled album went quadruple platinum. This was due to the success of these two platinum singles, I couldn’t choose between the two so I decided to pick both. “Twisted,” hit #2 on the Hot 100, while “Nobody,” hit #3, both songs reached #1 on the Hot R&B charts. Keith is now on-air on New York’s WBLS, doing the quiet storm, which makes A LOT of sense. (Check out the other classic R&B throwbacks linked at the bottom)

Fresh off being named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week, for games played Monday January 16 – Sunday January 22 averaging 19.5 points, 18.8 rebounds. 2.8 assists, and 2.8 blocks, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith is reporting that the Magic have reached out to the Knicks about a possible trade for their All Star Center.

Stephen is reporting that the Magic made the call inquiring about a Dwight Howard for Amar’e Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler trade. Now the full details of the deal weren’t given, there figures to be other pieces involved to make it work money wise. Tyson Chandler is also not available to be traded until March 1, since he just signed a new contract. Smith says the Magic will deny this, but his sources within the Knicks say the call was made. The Knicks also aren’t on Dwight’s “wishlist,” so they would be taking the chance of him not resigning with them when his contract is up.

Jeanius Thoughts:

This is the best trade that I’ve heard thus far, Amar’e, when healthy is a beast offensively, and Chandler, while he’s no Dwight defensively, could definitely help pick up some of the slack with losing Dwight. You also add the fact that Amar’e is from Orlando, they could play off the whole homecoming angle to fill up their brand new arena. So if the Magic do move Dwight, I’d be good with this trade, but like always we’ll have to wait and see how this one plays out. Stay tuned peeps.

Nicki Minaj’s sophomore album, Pink Friday: ROMAN RELOADED, has officially been pushed back. Originally scheduled to be released on Valentine’s Day now has a new release date.

As much as Nicki might try and emulate Lady Gaga with her style, I don’t think she has the luxury of dropping non-radio friendly music and still selling. Neither of her singles, “Roman in Moscow,” or “Stupid Hoe,” made any noise on the charts, and she better hope her “Va Va Voom,” single makes some noise, or we might have our first flop of the YMCMB era, it will definitely be interesting to see how this plays out.

Chris Brown is working on the follow up to his redemption and gold certified, F.A.M.E., (Forgiving All My Enemies) album, Fortune, is scheduled to be released in March of 2012.

Last week, Wiz Khalifa tweeted a picture of the two in the studio earlier in the week, which will be featured in the album. Already announced for the album were Asher Roth, Kid Sister, David Guetta, and will.i.am. Today Breezy sent out this tweet announcing that Hip-Hop legend Nas will be featured on the album with this tweet:

This should be pretty dope, Chris Brown made huge leaps in public with his latest album, and he’s also been putting out a lot of quality music. Also if you can’t tell what he did with the two album titles F.A.M.E. & Fortune, hopefully the two albums tie together somehow besides the titles.

The terms of Kobe and Vanessa Bryant’s divorce have been released and she is now ricer than he is.

Vanessa got $75 million, which was the split Kobe’s, (the couple’s) assets. The kicker though, and the reason why she is now richer than he is, is that she got the couple’s three Newport Beach masion’s. The one they live in, the one her mother lives in, and a third that is currently under construction.

Wow, she really cleaned up, the rumors are that he settled so quickly was because Kobe didn’t want the details of his infidelity coming out. Now she is richer than he is now, but give Kobe less than a year and he will be back in the driver seat, so to speak.

The back and forth between two of the Magic’s number one overall draft picks seems to be never ending, Dwight was asked what he thought about Shaq saying that Andrew Bynum was the best Center in the NBA.

This was the tweet from Brian Schmitz, who writes for the Orlando Sentinel, Dwight usually doesn’t respond to Shaq’s criticism.

I’m with Dwight on this one, Shaq just seems like a bitter old man with all of this D12 hate. Back in 2008 during the dunk contest Dwight attributed the “Superman dunk” to “Crank Dat,” (Superman), by Soulja Boy, which he called his favorite song at the time. Other than his bad taste in music, this had nothing to do with Shaq or trying to steal his nickname, other people began calling him Superman after the dunk. While he clearly didn’t do much to stop it, who would have turned down millions of dollars in endorsements? No sane person, so Shaq just needs to get over this, and be an objective commentator. Now while McDonald’s chicken nuggets may taste good, a California woman may have taken her love for the bite-sized snacks a bit too far.

Khadijah Baseer, of Los Angeles, was seen opening car doors in the drive through of an LA McDonald’s. Customers who spoke with police say that the woman offered sexual favors in exchange for some Chicken McNuggets. This is definitely another well-deserved Jeanius of the Week, this is just dumb.

The night before the Green Bay Packers were booted out of the NFL playoffs, the state of Wisconsin picked up a tiara, as opposed to a trophy, when Laura Kaeppeler, of Kenosha Wisconsin AKA Ms. Wisconsin, won the title of Miss America.

“If you’re watching, Aaron Rodgers, call me,” is what Kaeppeler said while she was being introduced. I don’t know about you, but there will be other plenty of other opportunities at Super Bowl and MVP trophies this is a once in a lifetime shot here, and would definitely help soften the blow. He better call that girl, a little background information on Miss America, she majored in music and vocal performance. From what I’ve read online Rodgers is either single, or is isn’t publicized he better jump on it, literally haha.

Dwight Howard’s wish list of teams he would sign an extension with, if traded to, has allegedly increased by one. Sources are saying he is watching the “other team in Los Angeles,” very closely

He’s been watching them a lot. He’s intrigued by the Clippers,”

Said the source who is apparently close to the various trade scenarios with the three teams, Lakers, Nets, and Mavericks, that Dwight’s agent is allowed to talk trades with. They say the most likely scenario of this happening would be via sign-and-trade in the off season. The same sources are reporting that Dwight isn’t too keen on joining the Nets this season, and not making the playoffs. The wildcard in this whole scenario is the Dallas Mavericks, who shed a lot of cap space hoping to lure Dwight and Deron Williams, who is from the Dallas area, to Dallas to play along with Dirk to form their own “Big Three,” then eventually when Dirk ends his career, the team would move forward with D12 and D. Will.

Jeanius Thoughts:

At this point it is pretty obvious that the Magic are not going to keep Dwight so just get it over with, every week there is a new rumor about where Dwight is going. Yet, I’ve never heard of any rumors as to what the Magic will do to keep him here. Just get it over with so we can move on. I am also hearing that Magic owner Rich DeVos, whose name I didn’t have to lookup due to the frequent stories about where Dwight will or won’t go, might not sign off on a Howard-Bynum swap because he thinks it will effect the Magic’s chances of winning now. While we have a decent record, I can’t see the team we have now winning it all. So I say put him out there for the highest bidder, even if it is a team willing to rent him out for the year, so we can stop hearing about this. At this point I’d take Bynum’s potential and bad knees just to get this whole thing over with.
