Russia was brought into the modern realm under Peter’s hand and went through much reformation to do so. Peter the Great expanded Russia greatly and strengthened their presence in Europe. Because of Peter, Russia was able to grow into the superpower it would eventually become, a superpower which would shape the fabric of world politics greatly.

9. Edward Jenner

Edward Jenner is the father of immunology and has had a major influence on medical advancements. During his time, small pox was ravaging the population. Jenner developed the vaccine which would hold the bugs at bay and set a whole new path for vaccination and medicine and would also lead to the eradication of small pox worldwide.

One of the major events of the twentieth century was the bloody and violent French Revolution, a turning point from the feudal times of old to the fulfillment of the Enlightenment movement. One of the most influential figures in this great revolution was Maximilien Robespierre. Robespierre was unyielding in leading the fight against the monarchy, and his Reign of Terror left an indelible mark upon history.

Mozart is one of the most popular musicians in world history. He was the very definition of a child savant and made huge leaps and bounds in terms of classical music. I stated previously that the 18th century is marked by two major events, one of which being the aforementioned French Revolution. The other of course is the American Revolution of the 1770’s where the United States separated from the British Empire. George Washington is the man who commanded the American forces against the British troops and would become the first president of the United States of America. America’s significance would only grow out of the Revolutionary War more and more each decade, and Washington was the man who first and foremost founded this nation which would grow into one of the greatest super powers the world has ever seen.

Kant’s ideas in the 18th century are still some of the most powerful and influential ideas today. Kant was a leader of the Enlightenment movement through his ideas on reason and ethics. His ideas would be the basis for the two major revolutions of that time and he created a shift in philosophical thinking, influencing almost all who came after.

Thomas Jefferson is considered the driving force behind the USA’s Declaration of Independence and one of the fathers of democracy. The United States have become perhaps the most powerful and influential superpowers in history and its ideas of a free society have permeated throughout the world. Jefferson’s legacy, and the legacy of the other founding fathers of America, is still felt every day all around the world, whether it is through the democratic realms of other nations or through opposition of that great ideal.

2. James Watt

Watt’s invention f the steam engine is one of those inventions which, quite simply put, change the world. This invention kicked off the Industrial Revolution, which would grow throughout the next century and would dominate the entire world, creating all sorts of population, industry and technological growth at an exponential scale. It could also be argued that the steam engine kicked off the greater accessibility of transportation, leading to the ’shrinking’ of the world which we know today.

Smith’s ideas about money and how it is used and distributed within our societies are vastly influential as money is usually behind almost everything that we do. For his massive contribution to helping us understand the driving force behind the progress of society, namely the economy, Smith is the most influential person of the 18th century.

Outside the club, Jenner says he tried to get back in to see Jayde but security wouldn’t let him. Jenner then saw Joe, punched him in the face, and then someone tased him and he fell to the ground.
Francis left the scene. The cops came but no one was arrested. Jayde tells TMZ she will press charges against Francis. Jayde has a black and blue cheek, her face is swollen, she has a bruised left rib and her lower abdomen is sore. Some of her hair also got pulled out.

This isnt the first time that Joe Francis has been in trouble.  He just recently did his time for Tax Evasion.  Apparently, the poor baby couldn’t afford the taxes he racked up from the millions of dollars he’s made off of drunk girl’s tears and broken dreams.  He’s living the dream!  Just…. Dont… Hit… A… Woman.  Unless she deserved it….

We have to record, with feelings of the most sincere regret, the death of His Eminence Cardinal Newman. He died last evening at the Oratory, Edgbaston, in his 90th year, after less than three days’ illness. The Cardinal has for many years manifested the feebleness of advanced age, although he has fully retained his mental faculties, and has rallied in a wonderful manner from more than one severe illness.

His last sermon at the Oratory church was delivered three years ago last Easter, although he made a few comments on the 1st of January, 1889, with reference to the Pope’s sacerdotal jubilee. Since then his physical weakness has developed, and he has had to depend upon the support of two of the Fathers of the Oratory in entering and quitting the chapel when assisting at the sacred function. The last ecclesiastical function in which he took part was the solemn triduo which was celebrated on July 18-20, in honour of the beatification of Juvenal Ancina of the Roman Oratory.

His feebleness on that occasion was specially noticed, and at the opening service he was carried into the church seated on a chair. At the Saturday and Sunday services his Eminence was not carried through the church, but had his seat placed at the entrance to St. Philip’s Chapel, which has private communication with the Oratory.

On the Saturday he gave the Benediction to the congregation with the relics of the Saint. Two evenings later-namely, on the 22nd ult., the Cardinal was among the company who witnessed the Latin play-at this time the Andria, arranged by himself-which is annually performed by the pupils of the Oratory school. He also distributed the prizes to the pupils, addressing a few remarks to each. From that time until Saturday last there was nothing abnormal in the Cardinal’s condition, and his medical attendant (Dr.

Blunt) went to Blackpool, leaving his illustrious patient in charge of Mr. C. H. Jenner Hoog. On Saturday night the Cardinal had an attack of shivering, followed by a sharp rise of temperature, and the symptoms indicative of pneumonia rapidly supervened and became acute. Dr. Blunt was telegraphed for and arrived from Blackpool the same evening.

During the day Cardinal Newman, though rapidly becoming worse, was able to speak to those about him, and in the afternoon, at his request, the Rev. W. Neville recited with him the Breviary. Yesterday morning he fell into an unconscious condition.

He was heard, in a mechanical way, to whisper “William,” the Christian name of his secretary, Father Neville, but he gave no signs of understanding any question addressed to him. The Oratory Fathers were then informed that he was sinking, and that the prolongation of his life was to be measured by hours. Upon this the rite of extreme unction was performed by the Rev. Austin Mills, in the presence of such members of the community as were at the time in the Oratory, four of their number being away from Birmingham.

Owing to the patient’s comatose condition the Viaticum was not administered, but he received Holy Communion on Saturday. Information of the Cardinal’s condition was telegraphed to the Oratory, in London, and also to the Right Rev. Bishop Illsley. The latter visited the Cardinal early in the afternoon, and spent some time with him, and made the “commendation of his soul” in the presence of the Oratory Fathers. There was an appointment on the part of the doctors to meet for consultation at 8 o’clock last evening.

At that time it was seen that life was fast ebbing away, and both medical men remained until 12 minutes to 9, when Cardinal Newman breathed his last. He died in the presence of the Fathers of the Congregation, and there is every reason to believe that his death was painless. The medical attendants have issued the following account of their patient’s last illness. “The Oratory, August 11, 1890.

His Eminence Cardinal Newman was seized with inflammation of the right lung at 2 o’clock a.m. on Sunday, August 10.

He very rapidly became worse until this evening at 8:45, when he expired. His Eminence expressed himself as feeling quite well an hour before this attack occurred.-G. Vernon Blunt, M.D.; C. H. Jenner Hogg, M.R.C.S.E.” The private prayers of the congregation were asked for the Cardinal at the Oratory Church on Sunday, and in the evening there were numerous and anxious inquiries respecting him.

He will be buried at the little country retreat of the Oratorians, at Rednall, where there is a private cemetery and chapel. The body will be exposed in the Oratory Church from noon today until it is removed for burial. The date of the funeral is not yet fixed. The greatest name in that matter which most occupies, most unites, and most divides men is now resigned to history.

Cardinal Newman is gone to that rest which for him will not be happiness if it does not give work to be done. His disappearance from the stage of life is no sudden event. It is not as if an army had lost its commander in mid-battle, or as if the tongue of the orator had become suddenly mute, or the lyre had dropped from the poet’s hand. It is not a future that has vanished with the past, or a cataract of life that has been arrested in full flow.

The truth is the great Cardinal has occupied so exceptional a place in human affairs that, while he has largely influenced them, he has had himself to discover and even to recognize that they could go on without him. Standing apart from the world, he has long been on excellent terms with it, and they part in peace. Rome, wisely and happily for its credit and its influence, eleven years ago added his name to its highest list of honour; but, otherwise, Cardinal Newman may be said to have been without a place in the earth’s pedigrees and successions; to have been left out of common reckoning, tied by no allegiance, complicated by no secular ties, “without father or mother,” in the links of causation and the rolls of time.

Forty years have now shown that the Church of England can pursue its course without his guidance or his warnings; still more have they shown that it is not such men the Church of Rome most trusts and employs. The Cardinal has long taken his position as a “Father” of we know not what century in that constellation of acute and saintly minds that still illumines the dark interval between ancient and modern civilization. It was his own choice to be Athanasius contra mundum. Whether from his ashes will arise the avenger, to do for him the work he has not seen done with his own eyes, and so reverse the judgment of time, is beyond even conjecture.

For the present a mighty man has fallen, yet we are much as we were.

Keen golfers had the chance to tee off with one of England’s footballing legends. Sir Geoff Hurst hosted a fundraising day at Lilleybrook Golf Club to raise money for the Leukaemia and Intensive Chemotherapy fund. More than 50 people took part, with three lucky competitors getting to play alongside the 1966 world cup winning hero.

And in glorious sunny conditions participants raised more than £3,000 for the cause. Sir Geoff said: “The day was a great opportunity to get together to raise money for something which will benefit cancer patients across the region. “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed myself and hope everyone else has too. The course was in superb condition.

Thanks to LINC for organising the event, and I hope we can do it again next year.” Dr Jill Rouse, co-founder of LINC, said: “We very grateful to all the golfers who took part in the day, and having Sir Geoff here really made it a special occasion.

ChannelM Representative announced that Season 1 is not over at 10 episodes, infact there are 3 more drama filled episodes left! Here is why:

After the Season Finale, Jamie’s role will be officially over and he will head back to New York, so the 3 extra episodes are a tease for Season 2… How exciting! The extended episodes will have Sydney Blanca and she will be taking over Jamie. The drama will be centered around her for the next 3 episodes after the Finale. So in total, its 13 episodes!! I cant wait!! All the expected members are beginning to film for the last 3 episodes again.

The lone person who brought the series together is now leaving after his last episode of the season coming by the end of the month! His representative noted, ” Jamie is ready to move on, everyday there is drama and he cant cope with it” From what we watched, it has always been Jamie starting drama!! So now that Jamie is gone, who is going to fill in that empty hole, Oh and what about Sean?

I’ve missed it and I know you’ve missed it. This will be a happy, joyful, active class, with some musical treats. I look forward to seeing you there!

Please note: If you’re an absolute beginner (meaning, you’re new to yoga, unfamiliar with the yoga vocabulary, out of shape, at risk of injury, or unclear about your own limitations), it would be a good idea to come to a couple of Tuesday or Thursday morning classes before attending Saturday morning. It’s not an advanced class by any means, but there will be plenty of standing poses and flow sequences.

Olympian! Say it again!

We are in trying times if Hawaiian Olympic athlete Bryan Clay can win the decathlon and be rendered to the back pages of history. His story is incredibly touching but it’s sad that Bruce Jenner gets more publicity as an Olympic decathlon winner because he’s married to a Kardashian.

Maybe if someone was firing an automatic weapon at him and filmed a reality television show while he competed in ten Olympic events, the country he sweated blood and tears for would extend an olive branch.

Steph is at Heidi’s house talking about re freaking princess wedding, seriously that was so last decade, you’re wearing a designer gown which has modernized weddings, now Heidi was going to single handedly turn that around?! Sigh, so the ever lasting fight of who becomes the maid of honor begins from here as Steph finds out that Holly is the maid.

Steph; She is blood…

Of course Holly is!, Why should she pick you, even though we do feel sad cause you never get chosen . . . for anything

The fast forwards… We can’t even count

Ok, this episode seems to be going at light warp speed, even the bridal shower has last the tape effect of a fast forwarding. . . Not to be disappointed of course, so the never ending barrels of champagne are pulled out, as Steph constantly bitches about how Holly is 30 mins late and does not deserve the title of maid of honor. This is where we realize that Steph is really true. When Holly does arrive she acts like a drunken tramp, with a junkload of presents in her booty.

They play the usual games, until we find out that Heidi wants 4 Boy Speidis in the future… Ewww

They toast to the future with some sort of marijuana drugged champagne, with only Audrina smart enough to bring her own water bottle!

Brody wears the same shirt

We find out in the previous scene with LC, which was too unimportant! ,Brody wears the same shirt as when he met up with Spencer…EWW. Actually we take that back, we like him in that shirt!

Brody gets to find out that Spencer has actually been seeing the therapist because he has insecurities in his relationship, and is now trying to be the better person.

Spence: I’m not just a cold stone, with no heart . . .

Brody: You are a cold stone, you just pretend not to be.

Lauren speaks to Kelly Cutrone on how she wants to move on . . . We totally get it, cut all lifelines from MTV, stab them in the back for calling Kristin back! Yeah! Kelly talks about how LC has to loosen up a bit add a little more flaneé in her life and remeber not to take s%^t! Good advice Kelly . . . straight to the point!

Wolfgang Puck’s obsession with stars

We enter the rehearsal dinner, where we find that Bill’s back! That kick-ass old man! It’s like a reunion of all the seasons’ characters! Steph takes the quite opportunity to snatch her glass and make a teary eyed speech, while moments after her Holly does the same thing in a satirical drunk manner . . . Not only does Holly ruin her reputation, she decides that it’s fine to throw food at her brother, which seems all to mature to believe in the dumb shit of The Hills. She happens to stain a snake skin looking bag bought moments ago by the Adam Divello!

When people are drunk, they stump out. Holly feels dazed and walks past a giant Arnold Schwarzenegger. She thought she wasn’t dinner with the king and queen . . . but she is correct, Heidi only wants it to be a princess wedding, she never said anything about a queen. We’re not really sure why Holly gets dazed and starts crying, but she apologizes the next day so that she does not get kicked out as the maid of honor during a manicure session Just goes to show how drunk and confused someone can get . . .

What the hell Charlie?

We’ve actually only included this part at the Zegna store to get the suits, cause Charlie the right hand douchebag of Spencer wants to bring Stacie the Bartender, which we realized is what the producers named her, to the wedding. We forgot that he was deleted off the episode where Stacie and Heidi meet.

Ugh . . . We can’t bother

By the time we reach the wedding, we seriously dazed…. All of a sudden we see Brent Bolthouse, and Aud sits behind Jayde, then Stacie comes then along with Justin Bobby. We love the seating arrangement.

Well it’s not a surprise that LC was going to come in then end, dressed in some pop art rendition, but with fabulous shades of course. We do remember that in the scene at her final house party, she says how she won’t go to this wedding and everyone tells her that she’s missing out. LC: Oh, I’ll just go to the next one! BURN

She talks to Heidi about how she looks like a bedazzler machine, and Steph was right of her  to say that she wanted to stop at the choker necklace. For a few moments, we actually forget there’s a feud between these two.

Seconds after that scene, the video we showed you last week with Kris Cav is played, with her walking down the aisle with music specially arranged to create the drama for her. Everyone, especially Brody just goes: Dayum…. drama, then Lo says how maybe it is a good thing that LC didn’t come, but then she does pop out . . . oh the irony. It just so happens that Lauren and Lo sit across from Justin and Kris, let the stare-down begin.

The wedding is classic, except for the cowboy walking down the aisle with Heidi… Awkward! Apparently for the viewers on the East Coast the vows were interrupted, so poor you guys for not being able to hear the vows that no one believes in! Of course they all head outwards where Kris actually says to Aud that JB is “such a stand up guy!” What is that supposed to mean? Well Heidi heads out the front doors ready to throw the bouquet, and we catch a last glimpse of Lauren before she leaves out the back door of the church.

So LC shows us the trends of all their fights over lunch with Lo, Steph, and Aud.

LC: I’m just thinking how we would never be able to see together, four of us on a table, just a year ago.

Lo: I think at a point all of us hated each other!

LC: Yeah… Remember the feud between me and Steph, can you remember who started it?

Steph: Spencer

LC: How ’bout you (Aud) and Heidi?

Aud: Spencer

LC: And for me and Heidi…. Spencer

Steph: What are you trying to say?!

LC: No just wanted to make a relation…

Lo: Lets toast to how far we’ve come!

The convo was so good until, Lo spoilt it!

The Swan with plastic breasts

Well, well we meet at Monique Lhuillier to pick out a wedding dress accompanied of course by the Holly and Steph, aka the blinds minions of Heidi.

Ahh the perfect dress, Heidi looks like the fluffy swan we has had breast implants…. To make matters worst, Steph picks this time to announce that Lauren will not be attending the wedding. Bummer

Finally, correct

Spence and stuck in the 80s Charlie hit rounds at the golf range, only to have Spencer make some comment about Heidi’s father being some “city biatch”. Seriously somtimes we don’t understand you Spence.

They discuss how desperate Heidi is to have the two worst people Spencer betrayed to be at the wedding, Heidi’s mum and Lauren. Charlie finally does somethig right, suggesting that Spencer be the bigger person and apologize to LC to make his wife happy. This is where we find out that Spencer doesn’t know the word “sorry”.

It’s really hard to learn when I have the same genes as a monkey

We head over to the Nylon party, which just so happens to be the weirdest place in the world.

We find out that not only will the Aud vs Jayde storyline will be continued (which means we kinda have to keep score again), and that monkey Steph, dosent know that Nylon is a People’s Republic client, so Kelly will be there, burn…

We just forgot…

Urgh we hate ourselves, we just remembered some of the best parts of the lunch mentioned in the first paragraph.

Lo: So Aud did you get your invitation?

Aud: Yeah, I’m going

Lo: Yeah I’m going too…

LC: Wait, were all of you guys invited? (Blank stares) So you guys are all going?

Ohh poor Lauren, so this is where she finds out she’s the only one not going.

Nylon screeches

Back to the Nylon party, not only is the staredown and the badtalk between Aud and Jayde and now Brody gets dumb and boring…. Kinda keeping the score the same.

Steph finally gets a tap on the back by Kelly. So Kelly was actually being her unusual nice self, only Steph couldn’t stop talking about how she got fired. Like in the preview Steph said: Its just kinda hard to learn at a new job when the boss is need there.

Sigh, when will you learn Steph? Bosses are never there…

So desperate

Heidi talks to Spence how LC is not coming to the party, and how she wants him to be more mature and be the bigger person.

After hearing that he should be the bigger person for the second time this episode, Spencer finally admits that he isn’t the bigger person.

Too bad Heidi gets the last word and says that she wants it sorted out.

Just when we thought desperate was what we saw, we saw Heidi step into People’s Revolution. She just begs LC to be there, but LC dosent fully get why she wants her at the wedding.

Lauren then gives the longest speech of how Heidi has changed so much since last time, how Lauren actually aspired to be her… Eww. She continues that how Spencer has grown into her and how she has left all her beat friends behind, including Holly and LC.

Heidi finally gives up out of desperation, the irony.

It’s your ex-bff!

Spence: Hey LC, it’s your ex best friend Spencer Pratt, don’t hang up yet…

LC: (weird kinda of vomit face)

Spence: I just wanted to tell you sorry that I spreader those rumours of Jason and you…”

HaHa Spence says sorry for once in 24 years!

Too bad Lauren still feels there was too much drama to overcome, and how she would like to vomit over Jayde if she does see them actually get married, no seriously… We think she does.

Brody and Holly both strike out at the real Spencer and how he’s such a fake.

The wedding goes on with a special guest worthy of the stares of Aud and Lo, and the rolling of LC’s eyes.
