The Board of Councilors is a leadership advisory group that promotes understanding of The Carter Center and its activities among opinion leaders and the broader community. Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, and staff give updates on Center activities to board members throughout the year.

“Featuring some of Atlanta’s most dynamic business leaders, our Board of Councilors help to create an intimate link between The Carter Center, the city of Atlanta, and the state of Georgia,” President Carter said. “Our new members will continue to promote the work of the Center in their communities as they join our group.”

Since its founding in 1987, the Board of Councilors has been led by some of Atlanta’s most distinguished civic leaders, including its current chair, Mr. H. Inman Allen, chairman of the Ivan Allen Company.

An elaborate cocktail reception celebrated the grand opening of Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty’s new North Atlanta Office and served as a showcase of its location in one of the metro area’s premier LEED certified developments.

The event was held at the art-filled, decorated North Atlanta Office in Sanctuary Park in Alpharetta.

Bill Rawlings, the office’s managing broker and vice president, joined Jenny Pruitt, CEO, and David Boehmig, president of Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty, in greeting guests, including North Fulton Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Brandon Beach as well as prominent real estate agents, colleagues, North Fulton and Buckhead neighbors and friends.

Jenny Pruitt said the company’s “commitment to what we call ‘Extraordinary people, extraordinary properties and extraordinary service’ is illustrated by the caliber of our North Atlanta agents, numbered 45 experienced, full-time professional associates.  They understand the desirability of the North Atlanta lifestyle and properties combining sophistication and pastoral appeal.

“Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty intends to concentrate fully on building this new office and to providing the finest consumer experience in this area,” she said.

Guests circulated throughout the office, admiring fine artwork from the Matre Gallery including the unveiling of a painting by renowned artist Steve Penley and works by Robert Joyner, William Goodman, James Garrett and Lu Steed as well as photographs by Robert Matre.

Catered by A Peach of A Party, the evening launched the entry of Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty into one of Atlanta’s most vibrant real estate markets. Pruitt and Boehmig said associates with the North Atlanta office form a roster of agents whose real estate knowledge and experience is unsurpassed, including Andrea Cueny, Suzanne Close, Christine and Ken Gary, Rhonda Haran, Tracy Sardelli, Karen Salter and Laura Warren.

Earlier this month, Atlanta Fine Home Sotheby’s International Realty was thrilled to celebrate the Grand Opening of our Intown Office. I recently had the extraordinary opportunity to interview Jenny Pruitt, CEO and Founder of Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty.  Jenny is an incredible leader and visionary.

AC: What is a benefit of the Sotheby’s International Realty brand to clients who are buying or selling a home under $1 million? Over $1 million?

JP: One of the greatest benefits of the Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty brand is the power of our multi-million dollar marketing at all price points.

Whether your home is $200,000 or $2,000,000, we recognize that your home is your mansion. We utilize our professional, superior marketing strategy and pieces to successfully market your home regardless of price. AC: Looking back at your time in residential real estate in Atlanta, what changes would you say have happened in the way buyers buy a home now compared to the past? Seller?

JP: I think now more than ever, buyers are looking for a good deal. They are waiting on the fence longer in an attempt to find rock bottom pricing. However, that is not always the best strategy. The Atlanta market is continuing to improve and interest rates will not stay as low as they are forever. Those buyers that are still on the fence might look back in a few months and realize this truly was the time to buy. It is always important to factor not only price into a home buying process but also the interest rate.

In regards to sellers, I think overall everyone is becoming more realistic. It is imperative to list your home for sale when it is absolutely ready. Gone are the days of “testing the market.” Sellers must have the home in its best condition and price the property right from the start. With so many homes on the market, buyers have plenty of options. As a seller, it is more important today to ensure your home stands out – and in a good way.

JP: I love to see other people succeed and know that I had a small part of their success.  One of the most exciting things about being a part of this great company is to see how marketing and global branding can become such a compelling story to the consumer. The visual impact and exposure for our listings is the best in the industry.

As the CEO Founder of this company it is so rewarding to grow a company with such extraordinary people!

AC: As someone who has purchased and sold many homes in your lifetime, what are a couple of important tips you may have for helping a family to feel at home in their new space?

JP: Moving into a new space is often both an exciting and stressful experience. I find that no matter where I am, as long as my husband, Bob, and my two precious Shih Tzus, Molly and Murphy, are with me, that I always feel at home.

This is a huge accomplishment after being founded just four short years ago in 2007, during one of the worst times in Atlanta residential real estate history.

I am so proud of all my fellow hardworking Atlanta real estate agents in our company who have made this possible, and especially to all our clients in metro Atlanta that have entrusted myself and my colleagues with the purchases and sales of their homes.

Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty was founded in 2007 by Jenny Pruitt and David Boehmig. The company operates two offices, one in Buckhead and the other in North Atlanta, and has more than 200 associates. In 2009 and 2010, Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty participated in the most expensive home sales in in metro Atlanta.

Real estate professionals from metro Atlanta gathered Friday, March 11, 2011, to celebrate the achievements of hard work and professionalism through the Atlanta Board of REALTORS®.

Often referred to as the “academy awards of real estate,” the 2010 Multi-Million Dollar Sales Club banquet was held at The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead and was attended by over 600 of Atlanta’s top-producing  REALTORS®.

The gala consisted of music, cocktails and a delicious meal.  The Master of Ceremonies, Lee Smith, Chairman, and Mary McPherson, Vice-Chairman of the Atlanta Board of REALTORS® presented the awards.

As we all know, January 12, 2010 will go down as one of the most atrocious days in Haiti’s history.  An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 shook the Port-au-Prince capital, destroying thousands of lives and communities.

We need to help.  As a community of talented leaders and thinkers, let’s band together and support the disaster victims rebuild their lives, homes, schools, churches and neighborhoods.
