Earlier this week, Billboard complied a list of the decade’s best producers. Coming in at numero uno are Pharrell & Co. Better luck in the next 10 years, Just Blaze and Dr. Dre.

Hit-makers The-Dream and Jermaine Dupri seem to have become involved in a public feud. The super-successful producers who are both probably best known for their work with Mariah Carey, took to Twitter to vent their frustrations surrounding the success (or lack their of) of Carey’s ‘Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel’ LP. The argument began on Dupri’s Twitter page with the following post:

The-Dream, who was engaged in a heated argument with a group of Carey’s fans, then released the following statements about the situation via his own Twitter account:

Could this be that Dupri is upset that his material was not included on Mariah’s album. Or is this just a clash of the egos?

BillBoard has been releasing the “Best of the decade” lists the past week, and today released the Top 10 Producers of The Decade. The lists is primarily based on sales and airplay accumulated from 2000-2009. The winners are…

The list is quite accurate, except for Dr. Dre missing. Based off sales and airplay, 50 Cent and Eminem had monster careers this decade, and Dr. Dre was responsible for a large percentage of their songs. Let us know what you think about the Billboard Top 10 Producers  list…

The Neptunes are ending the year on a high note and have been named the top producers of the decade. According to Billboard, the duo of Pharrell and Chad Hugo are worthy of the honor through their stellar production on his like Jay’Z’s “Give It To Me” and The Clipse’s “Grindin.”

So who else made the list?

Timbaland, Kanye West, Lil Jon, Bryan Michael Cox and JD just to name a few.

Music mogul Jermaine “JD” Dupri has revealed his personal reasons for not visiting incarcerated rapper/associate Da Brat and suggested the public should mind their own business.

Although JD has not seen her in-person, the former Island Def Jam president said he has found other ways to stay in contact.

“I spoke to her via letters back and forth and she’s good. She’s ready to come home and do what she gotta do,” Jermaine Dupri told V-103’s Ryan Cameron. “We are basically on the move to try and get her out…Those [critics], they don’t really know me like that to say nothing about what I’m doing with my personal situation with Da Brat. When Brat come home, I am going to be the person that takes care of her and make sure she gets back on her feet and do what she gotta…that’s just like everybody talking about Tiger Woods. We know nothing about the situation and everybody should shut up…I felt a certain way about seeing Brat in jail. That’s my little sister and I don’t really want to deal with that situation like that. I would prefer dealing with getting her out and seeing that day as opposed to going to see her…only reason I am saying this on the air is because I explained this to Brat. In my letter, I let her know the same thing.” (All Hip Hop)

She was given a three year prison sentence last year on an assault conviction.

Da Brat, born Shawntae Harris, copped a guilty plea to aggravated assault today (August 22) in a DeKalb County courtroom. In addition to the jail time, Superior Court Judge Gail Flake also sentenced the rapper to seven years probation and 200 hours of community service. Upon leaving the courtroom the popular ’90s rapper – known for her collaborations with hip-hop mogul Jermaine Dupri as well as her stints in a string of VH1 reality shows – appeared confident. “I love y’all,” she said to about six weeping relatives as they replied, “We love you too.” (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)

The time stemmed from a 2007 physical confrontation with another female.

Da Brat got into a heated confrontation with one of the club’s waitresses and was accused of striking the woman in the face with a bottle of rum, causing numerous cuts on her face. The waitress was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police said the Halloween attack wasn’t the first time Da Brat and the victim were involved in a physical altercation. (MTV)

In light of artists like Lil Boosie and Da Brat doing time, SOHH spoke with Lil Scrappy to get his take on rappers being placed behind bars.

“I don’t know how to react cuz, ’cause it’s like d*mn, if anybody noticed, this is the most rappers that done got locked up,” Scrappy explained. “I’ma tell you what it is though, it’s from certain n*ggas feeling like ‘I’m a rapper, I can do whatever the f*ck I wanna do,’ and not saying I’m a boss and do whatever I wanna do. If you a boss and you doing whatever you wanna do, you still gonna do it where you gonna be good, you not gonna just be ‘Oh, I f*cked up cuz, now I got eight years.’ Nah, not like that, they gonna be like ‘Eh, I did whatever I had to do, I’m good.’ N*ggas be going out their character, cuz. They doin’ sh*t they wouldn’t even do and they get f*cked up.” (SOHH)

Nelly’s home has apparently been burglarized as his Missouri mansion is now under police surveillance.  Police were called to the residence this morning and a manhunt is currently under way and 12 officers, a helicopter and a K-9 squad were brought out after a female at the home said she saw a man “fleeing “from the residence.

It’s not clear whether the St. Lunatic was at home at the time or if anything was taken.

Damn… It’s getting hot in here.

In additional Nelly news, the St. Louis MC gave away two full college scholarships this past weekend to Lindenwood University.

I love her voice.

The Black and White Ball, St. Louis’ premier celebrity gala event, took  place on December 6th at the Chase Park Plaza hotel. Hosted by Nelly, the annual black-tie holiday-season celebration was a highlight of the city’s social calendar.

Nelly was  joined at the party by a diverse group of his celebrity and athlete friends including Jermaine Dupri, track & field legend Jackie Joyner-Kersee, baseball Hall-of-Famer Ozzie Smith, and members of the famed R&B group The Isley Brothers. The Black and White Ball included  performances from Grammy-nominated R&B singer Mario and magician Justin Kredible, a regular guest on The Rachel Ray Show.

At the event, Nelly, Lindenwood University’s Black Student Union, and Plaza Motors announced the launch of the 2010/2011 Black And White Ball scholarship program which  provides two students from the St. Louis region with 4-year full-tuition scholarships/grants to Lindenwood University. In addition, the inaugural 2009/2010 Black And White Ball scholarship recipients were recognized at the gala.

Over the past three years, the Black and White Ball has attracted a variety of celebrity and athlete guests- previous attendees and performers at the Black and White Ball have included Janet Jackson, Allen Iverson, D.L. Hughley, Evander Holyfield, Boyz II Men Ashanti, Ruben Studdard, Steven Jackson, Allen Iverson, Jim Edmonds, and Torry Holt.

The 2009 Black and White Ball was presented by Crown Royal with additional support from Budweiser Select, Plaza Cadillac, Red Bull, Hennessy, Superior Products, and SYNERGY Productions LLC.
