A star is defined as a luminous body, stars have been used from time immemorial to guide humans in t

A star is defined as a luminous body, stars have been used from time immemorial to guide humans in their travels, as well as give celestial messages that great changes are under way. It is recorded that at the birth of Jesus, the wise men saw a star, which they followed to the newborn Messiah.

Much has been said as of late about some of the biggest names in hip-hop concerning their supposed allegiance with the Illuminati. “It’s a secret society all we ask is trust,” Jay-Z says in one of his songs. If wise men attended the birth of the Jesus some two thousand years before, is it possible that the same would be present today? Our young and gifted are seen as “stars” and have the potential and some would argue the responsibility to guide a world in darkness, out to light.

While I have never knowingly met anyone from any secret society, it only seems logical that much knowledge exist in the world that we do not know. Knowledge that could be shared, handed down, or revealed to a chosen few. The word Illuminati, according to the dictionary is said to mean the enlightened ones. Meaning something has been shared, or revealed that allowed them to see the light. The question that we must ask is, what is the responsibility of those who possess light, and those who having seen the light, to those who still grope in darkness? The prophet Moses is reported to have seen a light, which he investigated and there receive his orders from God.

Why is Tupac dead? What knowledge was he coming into? How can a shining star like his be extinguished and the killer never found? What about Notorious BIG? Were these just random acts of violence? Or is the greater message “do as you are told”? Many athletes on the college and pro levels will tell you that they are advised to stay away from using their celebrity for causes that are not in line with the agendas of their teams, or academic institutions. Kanye West, one of the artists being tied to the Illuminati via internet rumors. For example, in Jesus Walks, he raps, “if I talk about God my record won’t get played.” Why did he believe this?

The great Egyptian Pharaohs left messages that included the instruction to “Know Thyself.” One could say that means, become enlightened, the way of the Buddha is enlightment. Biblical teachings then ask what man having a light would hide it under a bushel basket.

Knowledge can be used for good or for evil, to know the personal failings of individuals in a world like this exposes one to blackmail etc., i.e. David Letterman. As one who considers himself a fan of many of these brilliant stars, I am reminded of something I read on the life of Bob Marley, according to one of his managers he was once visited by members of U.S. intelligence and told that his music was taking away the children of America, particularly the young whites. He was told he should go in another direction, and of course, he refused.

Much is made about why many of our more famous people don’t seem concerned with social causes, what fears restrict them? What pressures are they under? They seem to have it all, yet don’t appear concerned about the world and her children and their misdirection. Is it that they do not care or are they afraid? While one can appreciate their fear, for it is fear that initially accompanies great responsibilities, the responsibilities are greater still. These stars must accept to lead a people from darkness into light, each star in the heavens it is said has a definite lifetime and when it burns up its supply of fuel, it is then extinguished. Not to worry though, new stars are being born every day, and having been born they then appear. What we need is an alignment of these great stars while their light still shines, for it is not those who recognize light that obedience is owed but to the one who is light and shares it with us. Jay Z, Kanye, Rihanna, and others were not given their light by any Illuminati; they are first children of a Most High God. How they choose to use that light will be recorded in history. They can either be written alongside the great guardians of old or can be known as modern day Pied Pipers, who lure children away never to be seen again, or even the Roman emperor Nero, who is known for his extravagance and sang and played music while the city burned.

A lyrical wizard has been enlisted to do battle in the war between a downtrodden Chicago neighborhoo

A lyrical wizard has been enlisted to do battle in the war between a downtrodden Chicago neighborhood and arguably the largest corporation in America. Having lurked under the surface, spewing frustration and aggression for some time, it seems that the issues between Wal-Mart and Chicago’s South Side might have been relegated to socio-political purgatory. That is until a native lent his star power to the affair. Seeking to sway the direction of the matter, Hip-Hop head Rhymefest has come to give the issue a much needed revitalizing jolt, but not in the way that most people would assume. He is on the side of big business, and for good reason.

Reminiscing on memories of a childhood past has allowed the rapper to choose sides in the ongoing local conflict. Citing a need for better food, jobs, and the right for the South Sides denizens to control their own destiny, he has united with “Jobs or Else” and the Walmart Community Action Network to improve the conditions of his old home.

An alderman against the proposed Wal-Mart move has tied the agreement in political red tape because not everyone employed to erect the superstore will be members of the union. The “Jesus Walks” rapper has publicly decried the move, and while protesting with Wally World supporters outside of city hall, offered the world simple reasoning behind his motives.

“It’s a food dessert. . . As an artist, an activist, and a south side resident, let me put it plainly. If you can’t come in and provide living wage jobs and fresh affordable produce, then how can you say anyone else can’t?”

The proposed Wal-Mart would be located on the South Side’s 83rd and Chatham, and is expected to create between 300 to 500 jobs that would pay nearly $12.00 an hour.

Over the years Chicago has produced some of the greatest rappers of all time. Many of these rappers

Over the years Chicago has produced some of the greatest rappers of all time. Many of these rappers are conscious rappers and have taken hip hop to a higher level with their creative lyrics and their original sounds. These rappers are extremely good lyricists who made the lyrics in they’re songs incredibly significant by making people think about things in new ways and giving their listeners their intelligent opinions that are very different from what you typically hear in commercial rap. Not only have these artists taken their lyrics to new heights but they have also all found ways of infiltrating the main stream. It is very odd to find conscious well known rappers. One thing that many of these rappers had in common was their hometown Chicago, Illinois, also known as Chi-town.

One of the very significant Chicago rappers that we see today is Kanye West. West grew up in Chicago and went on to do amazing things with hip-hop. In his first album, The College Dropout, he talked about subject matters too honest and too real for most commercial rappers. Kanye was one of the few rappers to dig deep and discuss topics that would typically be ignored, and still manage to get on the radio. One of the most amazing things that West did in his entire career, was get radio play for his song, “Jesus Walks.” In this song he speaks about the lack of variety of subject matter in mainstream hip hop music, and attempts to diversify hip hop with a track about Jesus. In the song he says, “So here go my single dog radio needs this/ They say you can rap about anything except for Jesus/ That means guns, sex, lies, video tapes/ But if I talk about God my record won’t get played Huh?” Oddly enough the song that he thought would get absolutely no radio play managed to become very popular amongst listeners of mainstream hip-hop. Since The College Dropout, West’s music seems to have taken several bad turns. West seems to have become extremely caught up in his fame and fortune and the majority his music seems to reflect this. But independent of outside influences and fan pressure, West managed to pull off one of the greatest conscious hip-hop albums of all time in, The College Dropout. The College Dropout shows how West’s experiences growing up in Chicago have given him the experiences necessary to promote and encourage social change.

Another amazing product of Chicago is Common. He is by far the rapper who has been around the longest of all the rappers mentioned in this article and has done extremely well in establishing himself as the face of conscious hip-hop. The rapper has proven himself through thick and thin, and has never been a big radio artist, but has perpetually left his mark on the conscious rap community through great tracks that make people think and that emphasize the struggles that he has been through. Common has made amazing songs but he also expresses himself extremely well through spoken word poetry. Common opens this piece, “Be Known”, by setting himself apart from commercial rappers and sharing his intentions as a hip-hop artist.

Another Chicago rapper who has done extremely well in making meaningful tracks is Lupe Fiasco. This artists has amazed his fans more and more with each and everyone of the tracks on his albums, and the freestyles on his mixtapes. Fiasco is a former comic book writer manifests that creativity in his albums. Fiasco manages to use poetic devices in his music to help him to get his points across to his intelligent listeners. Fiasco is known for going over peoples heads because of his surprising knowledge of all the subjects he raps about. If you can manage to interpret Fiasco’s lyrics you will find that he is the greatest lyricist of all time. Fiasco enjoys talking about where he came from and how he has managed to escape mistakes that the people around him have made in order to get where he is now. He talks about his native town Chicago and the type of environment that he grew up in, in his song “Comin From Where I’m From.” In this song he talks about the struggles that he had to overcome but also shows admiration for his city and the person that it has made him today.

Kanye West – Creating Complex cover

You do not have to be a regular visitor to this website to have seen either Kanye West’s video for “All Falls Down,” “Jesus Walks (2nd Version),” or “Touch The Sky.” If you haven’t seen any of them… keep that to yourself. Anyways, each these music videos share one commonality (besides Kanye of course), and it’s the director, Chris Milk.

Music Director Chris Milk is slowly making a name for himself.

Considering the level of super stardom that Kanye West is reaching, it probably means alot if he frequently uses Chris Milk to direct his videos. Their artistic visions complement each other, so it isn’t surprising to see Kanye call upon him again to help photograph hiscover shoot with Complex.

Although we don’t get to see Kanye’s sexy new girlfriend, the video gives us a glimpse into the creative genius of Kanye West and Chris Milk and how their minds collide to create a unique and eye-catching cover for Complex Mag.

This was written in response to what do I, as a believer in Christ think of a Grammy winning song “Jesus Walks” by Kanye West.
____________________________________________________________________

“God show me the way because the Devil trying to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me) with me, with me, with me [fades]” (partial chorus)

As the song begins, Mr. West is talking about or referring to this verse that Jesus Said:

Mat 11:29-30 “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

WHAT DOES YOKE MEAN?

Living in an agricultural society, Jesus and his hearers were well acquainted with the yoke. A yoke is a long wooden beam with two recessed areas on the underside to fit over the necks of a pair of draft animals, usually oxen, to harness them together to pull a plow, a cart, or some other load. (1 Samuel 6:7).

When Christ invited us to take upon ourselves his yoke, he was telling us that he wills to walk with us, side by side as we go through life. Now, some argue that this is contradiction, since a yoke can’t be pleasant. However, Christ did also say, “learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart and you shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light”.

SO WHATS THE PROBLEM with this song? →Its Chorus is arguably biblical, but lets go analyze the rest of the song.

1. “Somebody tell these (******) who Kanye West is
I walk through the valley of the Chi where death is” (partial lyrics)

Here we see, a mere man glorifying himself instead of God. The Bible in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 tells us to have nothing to do with such men.

“1But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.”

LOOK at verse five. “Having a form of godliness but denying its power.”

Now, go LOOK at Mr. Kanye West as he poses as Jesus Christ on the cover of rolling stone magazine Jan 2006.

HERE –> http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11009059/

And yes, look up the word, “CHI” as Mr. West states, “I walked through the valley of CHI where death is.”

CHI: In Asian tradition, chi is the life force which permeates the world. In addition to being in all living beings, chi is also found in spaces such as homes and gardens.

A LIFE FORCE THAT PERMEATES THE WORLD! “Ok, without going nuts, we know that evil is the absence of GOD, just like darkness is the absence of light. Therefore, CHI has absolutely nothing to do with God. For we know, ONLY God is holy (Isaiah 6:1-4). AND THIS “CHI” inhabits “Death” and that is where Mr. West walks through in accords with his own lyrics. (Judge for yourselves).

In addition, where have you heard “I walk through the valley” before?

It is found in Psalm 23 which is one of the greatest example of trust between man and God. However, it has been used in too many secular venues that some of us have lost ear to it while it has been partially used and CHANGED to mean other things.

That is, to a lot of us, once we hear “I walk through the valley…” we are quick to think it’s biblical, especially in passive instruments of communication such as music or movies. Read the lyrics people! (And i say this in love lol)

The WORD of GOD states: Psalm 23:4 “4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,
for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

2. Disgusted to even go cherry pick the curse words in this song and the profanities therein. Let me just bring forth what the WORD of the LORD says about “cussing”.

Jesus taught in the Bible that when a man curses or uses profanity it is a sign of evil that is in a man’s heart. It is popular today for both men and women to curse. They never think of it as an evil condition in their heart, but rather a small thing that everyone does. These small words of cursing the Bible says, will defile the whole man if they are not repented of and stopped. Cussing and using the name of the Lord in vain causes one to become defiled.

DEFILED? Yes, poisoned, desecrate, degrade before God.

And Jesus is clear about this in Matthew 15:17-20

17″Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? 18But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man ‘unclean.’ 19For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20These are what make a man ‘unclean’; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him ‘unclean.’

FURTHERMORE, recently Mr. Kanye West said this: “I bring up historical subjects in a way that makes kids want to learn about them. I’m an inspirational speaker. I changed the sound of music more than one time… For all those reasons, I’d be a part of the Bible. I’m definitely in the history books already.”

Source: http://www.contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.nsf/mndwebpages/cocky%20west%20i%20should%20be%20in%20the%20bible_09_02_2006

OK, the last chapter of the last book of the bible says WHAT?: “18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book. (Revelations 22:18-19)

YET, MR. WEST WANTS TO ADD HIMSELF TO THE HOLY WORD OF GOD. Who is his music geared to, “kids” and why does he change the sound of his music? I know some of you have some marketing knowledge. The question though is, “What is HE really selling?” (That’s for you to answer.)

CONCLUSION

I know “Jesus Walks” was in a lot of EARS, including mine when it first came out in the wee years of 2006, and thus the Grammy winner. HOWEVER, it is important to know what this song is about, who it’s creator is, and how easy it is for us to be deceived.

No, I am not holier than thou. I may sound harsh. However, I am just like Mr. West. A sinner. So is everyone in this imperfect world.

BUT THANK GOD ALMIGHTY, THEIRS HOPE DUE TO HIS MERCY ON US!

The Bible says: “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.” (Isaiah 59:2)

The Bible says: “6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” (Isaiah 53:6)

THE HIM here is “JESUS CHRIST” who bore all our sins when he died on that Cross for you and for me.

Moreover, John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Therefore; THE WORD OF THE LORD SAYS THIS

“9That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”[e] 12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:9-13)

IN ADDITION and to this, AMEN.

18All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. (2 Corinthians 5:18-19)

“My momma used to say only Jesus can save us
Well momma I know I act a fool
But I’ll be gone ’til November I got packs to move I Hope”

“And I don’t think there is nothing I can do now to right my wrongs
I want to talk to God but I’m afraid because we ain’t spoke in so long” (K.W Lyrics)

PRAY FOR KANYE WEST.

God Bless You and feel free to comment or question.

My last panel of the day was “The Music Supervisor Evolution and Master Critique”. Music supervisors

My last panel of the day was “The Music Supervisor Evolution and Master Critique”. Music supervisors have the position of working with producers to place music in films and promotions as well as dealing with the legal and publishing issues involved in implementing those songs. Song placement heightens emotion and fills theatrical voids as well as gives people another reason to see a movie. Kanye West’s “Jesus Walks” being in the trailer for “Jarhead” contributed to 43% of me seeing the movie and I have to give the other 57% to Gyllenhaal (note: I was really into Donnie Darko at the time).

This is another career in which I am interested. When I hear a song, I can visualize various theatrical scenarios in my head. It is also important to note that I wanted to pursue a career in screenwriting for a few years in college (after I gave up on the idea of law school). Why not bridge the gap between my love of film and music to form the ideal job?

Song placement in films is part of where the music industry has evolved. Do you think The Shins would be half the success that they are today without Zach Braff choosing them for “Garden State”? And even if a band is unnoticed or unappreciated by moviegoers across the world, they still have the check from the movie, so that extra money is income in place of dying CD sales or to cushion the blow of unsuccessful touring.

On Saturday night, Kanye West is playing in Sydney.

I get a lot of crap for liking Kanye, from both my friends who are defenders of “indie cred” and my friends who are strictly commercial radio types. Both see it as inconsistent, I guess, that I like Sufjan and Kanye at the same time.

Well, I shall show you! Check out this incredibly fantastic mashup of Kanye’s Jesus Walks and Sufjan’s The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades is Out to Get Us. Check it out

By the way, Kanye’s claims that he’s the voice of our generation? I think he’s right. His music has been really important. Seriously, think about how many really great songs he’s written, the stuff he’s produced. It’s musically amazing and culturally really significant. If you’re scoffing right now, I challenge you to take another listen.

I believe this is only the second rap song I’ve featured out of 62 Songs of the Day. It’

I believe this is only the second rap song I’ve featured out of 62 Songs of the Day.

It’s not that I don’t like rap. I do, sometimes. I like Eminem, Outkast and Kanye West. A little Public Enemy. I think the main barrier to me being more of a rap fan is the subject matter. I know it’s a cliche, but so much of what I hear deals almost exclusively with bitches, thugs and the gangsta life.

I’m sure there are plenty of exceptions who don’t get nearly the press they deserve, and I just don’t read the right articles and blogs in order to find them. I’m guessing Mos Def and Common are the sort of artists I’d like, but I haven’t checked them out yet.

The other reason I generally shun rap is that I’m a much bigger fan of melody than beat. I do like the occasional roof-shaker, but only in moderation.

So Kanye West is a good fit for me. He tends to write about interesting things (though way too often about himself) and he has a gift for delivering rap as pop music. This song, ‘Jesus Walks,’ might not be the best example of the latter, but it’s definitely about something. And it makes you want to move like a mutha, too.

a lot of folks hate on kanye west because he is so freaking arrogant, and i’ll give them that

a lot of folks hate on kanye west because he is so freaking arrogant, and i’ll give them that… he is incredibly freaking arrogant. but the dude is amazing. he is one of the most progressive, creative and innovative artists in the game… in any genre! well, ladies and gentlemen, kanye west has raised the bar and flipped the script once again.

after a steady string of innovative hits and ridiculously addictive jams like “jesus walks”, “gold digger” and “stronger”, most would expect mr. west to emerge with yet another blazing musical expedition that would blow minds and move booties everywhere it’s heard.

but instead of butts, this time around it sounds like he is aiming to move minds and challenge his listeners with… *gasp* change! change is amazing. change is vital. if you’re going to stay on top of your game, remain relevant, and be effective in whatever it is you do, you must accept, embrace and be an agent of change. my homey brewster just wrote a killer blog about change that you should go read right now!

so, instead of putting out the the next club banger, ‘ye has pulled a janet jackson/that’s-the-way-love-goes on ‘em and dropped something that no one was expecting… and it’s crazy hot.

“love lockdown” is the new single from kanye’s new album, reportedly titled “808s and heartbreak”, which is due by the end of the year. he performed it at the vmas this week (one of the only 2 memorable moments in an otherwise lackluster show) and the performance was great. it’s not what anyone was expecting from him. it is surprisingly and refreshingly low key and subdued compared to many of his other more hyper-edged material. it sounds like what’s next. it sounds like innovation. it’s strength is it’s simplicity. it sounds like change… and it’s about to be everywhere.
