The past week has been a buzz of activity making up some fun jewellery. My workplace is holding an xmas exhibition this coming Wednesday showcasing everyone’s artistic talents (aside from architecture of course!). We will be showcasing handmade bedside tables, coffee tables, door handles and woven lamps… … surprise surprise my contribution will be that of the feminine luxuries… Below are some great earrings that will go well with lovely summer dresses for all the up and coming glittery december parties!!!

After all, the bad times are only there to help us see the good times. Oh, and to make us stronger of course! We all know, life will have it’s ups and downs…’tis why I call life a rollercoaster…but you need to ride it all the way to get the best out of it. And you also need to be strong enough to realise when you need to make changes, for better or worse but I hope for the better. Enjoy it. Live it. Carpe Diem and all that…(for those who don’t already know, it means “seize the day”). Don’t throw life away whenever you come across a hiccup because something great may be just around the corner. Grin and bear it.

After quite a tough week or two…I’m feeling a lot happier about things now. Most of the problems were mainly linked to money worries but I think the family are finally finding ways to be creative with what we do have…and the big sis and I are trying to REALLY push the jewellery venture – MARKETS…WATCH OUT! Overall, I realised that there’s no point in being down when you actually have so much to be grateful for. Yes, we’ve almost all had a hard time of it with this damn recession but I guess at the end of the day, it’s now helping the majority of us to budget more wisely and not splash out whenever we want to. This girl’s purse strings are pulled more tightly now. Well, with a little treatism…here and there…old habits die hard

As always, chin up guys and dolls. We’ll solider on through it and come out at the other end of the tunnel more radiant than ever…SMILES GALORE. Let’s have some sunshine days – although I am enjoying the rain, it’s fun to splash around and be a little mad – I’m surprised if you’ve only just noticed that part of my personality. Anyway, have a good sunday, wherever you are, and SMILE (though your heart is aching…).

There isn’t anything better than J. Crew (I mean, have you seen Mrs. Obama’s sequined leopard print cardigan?!? Well the first day of the Crafts Fair is over.  It was a variety of stalls including paintings, knitting, beauty products, wooden products, food, jewellery and xmas gifts and home decorations.

Considering there were lots of other events on today, we were lucky with the amount of people who popped in. 

It was Pierrine’s first public outing, as such, and was well supported by friends and the public.  Lots of positive comments/feedback and ideas that I will be considering.  I have attached some piccies of the stand.  You just need to click on the individual picture to enlarge it.

If you missed it today we are there from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday 29th (tomorrow).

I am actually wearing a lot more than the above, but it is mostly layers for warmth. The cold has a habit of kicking my ass. Maybe I should pile on the blubber.

Kerianne Flett introduced me to a designer that I’d heard of but not known much about so I decided to look her up after being inspired.

Saloukee is a paper jeweller and is an avid social media user. According to Kerianne she has not payed for any advertisement but has used the facilities of the world wide web to do such marketing. Using such tools as twitter @Saloukee , facebook and blogging to promote herself.

Giving us jewellers out there a taste of how you can filter the power of the internet and use it for your own success. She has become known worldwide and that is something to admire. She seems to have the perfect balance of physical and digital.

• Todo lo que brilla: La Federación de la Costura Francesa anunció esta semana que durante la próxima edición de la Fashion Week de Haute Couture se incluirán las presentaciones de las creaciones más extravagantes de las joyas de Boucheron, Cartier, Chanel joyería, Chaumet, Christian Dior.

La Fédération dice que la adición de estas piezas creará una “verdadera semana de lujo”.

El próximo 28 de enero (la próxima edición de la semana de la moda se lleva a cabo del 24 al 28 de ese mes) será exclusivamente dedicado a las presentación de los joyeros.

El último escándalo photoshopero esta vez es protagonizado por la Revista W, la actriz de 47 años Demi Moore y la modelo Anja Rubik.

Al parecer, según dicen los que quieren opinar, la portada de la última edición de W estaría retocada de manera exagerada: arrugas, caderas, ¡hasta el cuerpo entero!

Los representantes de W  declararon que  ”no se hizo nada raro o fuera de lo común en Demi Moore para la foto en la portada”.

Sin embargo muchos se han preguntado qué es exactamente lo que la revista hizo para que la cadera de Demi casi desapareciera de la foto, luego la falta de cualquier tipo de arrugas en la cara o el cuerpo de Demi, en particular el área de la axila (lo normal para una mujer de 47-años).

La teoría ha ido un poco más lejos y distintos medios sugieren que la Revista W photoshopeó la cara de Demi en el cuerpo de Anja Rubik, la modelo que lució el mismo vestido en el desfile de Balmain.

Según la revista “no hay necesidad de contratar a Demi Moore que haga una tapa para luego cambiarla totalmente” pero los expertos en retoques fotográficos de las celebridades dicen que esto sucede muy a menudo.

La obsesión por mostrar una imagen de eterna juventud está completamente fuera de control.

A very quick post today. I know lots of people are interested in trying Friendly Plastic Pellets, but they are anxious about plunging in and spending a whole heap of money on something they are unsure about.  So how would you like to try out Friendly Plastic Pellets for just £2.50?  For a limited time I am offering 1oz sample packs sent free of P&P for just £2.50.   This is a brilliant deal, and it is not even on the web site.  You need to be a blog reader to get the deal!

A typical 7″ stick of Friendly Plastic weighs just over 1/4 oz and costs around £1.70.  You get 4 times the weight of plastic for £2.50 – not bad at all. 

You can colour your Pellets with Alcohol Inks, or Polished Pigments or Pearlex Powders, permanent ink pens and pads, metal flakes and foils and all sorts of other things.

These images have all appeared before on this blog, but I thought you might like to be reminded of what FP Pellets can do.

Softening and melting the Pellets can be done with hot water, a dry griddle or a heat gun (if you use the latter then make sure they are on a metal tray or something that stops them rolling all over the place with the blast of hot air.

The mould for this oriental piece was made using silicone moulding putty.

You could push it in to bezels (Amate jewellery bezels are great for this), or you could push it in to moulds (see below)

Not only is it wonderful for decorative purposes, but it is also useful for practical things as it can make quick (and recyclable) tools and handles for things (see Jen Lowe’s video)

I hope I have whetted your appetite.  If you like the pellets then I can offer them to you in 40z packets and can also get 28oz jars as well.  If you go for the 28oz jars  at £40, then I know you are hooked!
