The word Ujjain brings to mind Mahakavi Kalidas.

In pure lyrical quality, he is way ahead of all the poets of the world. Shakespeare is a better dramatist, a philosopher and an observer of character. But when it comes to poetic charm, I vote for Kalidas. Upama Kalidasassia. His simile is superb. Shakuntalam, a love story, has been translated into several Indian languages.

According to legend, he was an idiot, but was blessed by Kali and became Kalidas. The Kali temple, where the poet received the blessings of the Goddess, is still there. He was one of the nine Jewels who were guests of the King Vikramaditya.

Ujjain is famous for Shiva as Mahakal and is one of the places where Kumbhamela is held.

It is well connected by rail and road.

Terror Attack

“Leave me alone. I don’t want to see you ever again.” This is how I reacted everytime I had an argument with my husband over trifle issues. “God never fulfills any of my wishes”, is how I reacted when I didn’t get anything of my choice. However the terror attacks of 26/11 has changed me ever since.

I was in Mumbai, while my husband was in Pune for his official work. His phone call at 6 a.m jolted me out of sleep and I came to know about the Mumbai attacks. I was unable to catch-up the prime-time news last night as I was feeling sleepy after the long working day. My husband was worried and strictly forebade me to move out of the house, though we stayed quite far from Colaba or Nariman Point area.

After attending his call I switched on the television and stayed glued to it for the rest of the day.

With each news broadcast I started treasuring all that which life has given me, but whose value I failed to understand for so long. One news showed the death of a guy due to get married in the first week of december and I thanked God that He gave me the opportunity to experience a blissful married life. Another channel flashed the news about the death of a guy who was married just a one month back and again I thanked God that I am lucky to still have my life partner with whom I want to grow old. With every news, my sight got more blurred as tears were welling up in my eyes.

So many parents left childless, so many kids left parentless, so many ladies widowed, so many men bereaved, so many sisters out of the shadow of their brother’s love and so many brothers holding out their empty wrists.

How can I complain to God for not giving me a bigger home, when thousands are left homeless??? How can I complain to my husband for not being home on time on certain occassions, when thousands of husbands have left their wives widowed never to return back again.

In our everyday life God gives us so mnay jewels in the form of a person, a thing and even memorable moments, but we fail to cherish and treasure these jewels.

Now I have learned to treasure my jewels. I hold them close to my heart for the fear of loosing them forever. I live everyday as it is the last day of my life. I shower my love onmy familty and friends as if there won’t be any tomorrow. I pray and sympathize for the people who have lost their loved ones and thank God for everything He has given me till date. Now I never say “Leave me alone, I don’t want to see you again”; because I know that I never want to lose my husband to any terror attack and lead a never ending empty life.

So on a whim this morning while taking a stroll through town with a friend, I decided to go get the piercing in my ear stretched. No reason why, and really hadn’t  given it that much thought before, but what the heck – sure why not? Well it was relatively painless, just a real weird sensation, kind of tingly but not unpleasant. So this blunt needle was pushed through the hole and the jewellery was shoved in, great job all done! Had a sneaky glance in the mirror while the stretcher was cleaning all up, but shock horror, instead of the nice wood flesh tunnel that I had expected, there was a massive silver stud not unlike those worn by the hooded, trackie-brigade of boys trying to look cool… apparently it will have to stay like this for the next month until it’s healed enough to stretch some more. Ah well, sure my Adidas rip off’s (oh yes we all had a pair in the nineties), and my Nike Air Max are still lurking around the wardrobe somewhere, alright lads meet ya down the ‘nal with some dutchie aaiiiitt???

Hiroto, the vocal of the blue hearts is here. We are just going on the stage together, there are some more musicians, but not the member of the blue hearts. Hiroto looks a little weak, his voice is not strong. I go on the stage with him, he starts singing “Mirai ha bokura no te no naka”, which means “The future is in our hands”.

It is a gym, gym of my old junior high school. The purple cartain on both side, where we came out is actually behind of the stage, where all gymnestic stuff there. Then I just realized, this is not my junior high school’s gym, this is the elementary school’s one. The old wooden floor, the doors on both side, and the behind.

Students are making que and standing, nobody dancing. Hiroto is shouting as he used to do, but the voice is not strong enough, I am almost crying but I know I should not cry.

What am I doing on the stage? I am not the member of the blue hearts, I am just singing with Hiroto, but without microphone.

The 2 girl of the first lane are wearing very vivid dresses. One is in vivid green and another one is vivid blue. Other girls are all in black, as normal school uniform. I recognize these 2 girls, they are my friends from junior high school.

Hiroto stopped singing, and all students turn around and walk to the door behind. The 2 girls, one is in green, one is in blue, I:m seeing their back in all black students. Their dress looks cheap and very old style. The green one, which is left of the blue one, she got someone to hold her skirt like long wedding dress, but actually the dress is not long that much, so I can see her legs from behind.

I jumped down to the wooden floor, run after the all students. Get out the door behind, then they are not manking que, it was more like chaos.

On the lft side, there is toilet, after passed toilet, we turn to the left. Then I realized that the floor is so beautiful. The color is mixed yellow,  blue and purple, there are many different color of jewels on the floor. Every single jewels has silver frame, it seems like silver is like working like glue to put the jewels on the floor.

I am so happy to walk on it, there are many part of the isle which is still on construction and not really safe – jewels, silver or needles are bumping out of the floor. But still it is so beautiful.

I am looking the part which is still on construction, it shows how it’s made. I see vivid yellow cloth on the bottom, then blue on it, on the top is purple but little close to silver. Each layer is transparent, and the lights made the color so much beautiful.

I keep walking on the isle but then find myself running like flying, jumping and running, feel so free.
