There is a YouTube page set up that you can see them. My only problem is with who does the voices. Jeremy should sound like a teenage kid living with his parents, not a 40 year old with a mortgage.

When you think about Cincinnati cartoonists, most people think of recently retired Jim Borgman. But for those of us who have a Jerry Dowling original hanging in our house or eat at Arthurs on occassion, Jerry also is a Cincinnati cartooning icon.

For years he worked at the Cincinnati Enquirer and has focused mainly on single panel sports cartoons. In the past several years, his work can still be seen weekly in the local indie paper City Beat. He has pulled together his years of doing Pete Rose cartoons – from the Big Red Machine to the Big Ugly Banishment – and put them in a book with baseball writer Hal McCoy called Drawing Pete. You can read an article about it from co-author Hal McCoy by following this link.

I know you can get it at Amazon (click picture) or at local Cincinnati book retailers.

QUESTO PROGRAMMA TI IMPEDIRA' DI GUARDARE CIO' CHE IO NON VOGLIO TU VEDA SU INTERNET - ME LO INSTALLERESTI?, Jim Borgman, 1997

While reading Penelope Trunk’s blog, Brazen Careerist (see sidebar link), I discovered the term “helicopter parents.” A link in the post steered me to Wikipedia’s entry on the same topic. Doing a bit of research on the term, I found it refers to parents who have not yet cut the umbilical cord with their college-age children. Apparently, many parents are now visiting the school administrators with their child, or trying to solve their child’s problems for them by cell phone or other methods. Some parents call professors to complain about their children’s grades. Other parents call their children on their cell phones to wake them up every morning so that they don’t miss class!

According to cartoonist Jim Borgman,

http://frontier.cincinnati.com/blogs/borgman/2006/08/helicopter-parents.aspat “…Ohio University. The student laundromats are now hooked up to the internet, so students can load their laundry into the washers or dryers and return to their rooms to track the progress of their laundry on their computers.
One student I heard about called his mother in Iowa and asked her to log on and track the progress of his laundry while he went out and did errands, then to call him on his cell to let him know when it was done.”

So this was a completely new word I learned today. Living overseas, it sometimes takes a while to hear the new slang expressions!
