The <em>Late Night</em> host bested Kathy Griffin&#8217;s<em> Seaman 1st Class, </em>who has had five nominations over the years and no wins.&#160;</p>
<p>&#8220;The winner didn&#8217;t even show up and the winner never shows up,&#8221; Griffin joked. &#8220;I&#8217;m here every year, hoping.&#8221;</p>

<p>In the spoken word category Janis Ian&#8217;s&#160;<em>Society&#8217;s Child: My Autobiography</em> took away the top award, besting works by Rachel Maddow, Ellen DeGeneres and former president Bill Clinton.&#160;</p>
