Not often that i post something about music, but this deserves a mention because it is just THAT awesome ( and also because i have a Hendrix t-shirt that makes me look good).

The Jimi Hendrix song, Voodoo Child has been named the greatest guitar riff of all time by MusicRadar.com.

The only two modern songs that cracked the nod for the top 20 were Muse’s Plug In Baby and The White Stripes’ Seven Nation Army.

Monte Montgomery

Acabei de achar essa incrível versão de Little Wing, composição do grande Jimi Hendrix, feita por Monte Montgomery, um elétrico-violonista americano, nascido no Alabama em 1966.

O cara toca muito bem, usa seu violão elétrico acompanhado de efeitos típicos de uma guitarra, fazendo um som incrível.

Being a photographer definitely has it’s perks. Among them is meeting and hanging out with some cool people. Yesterday, I met  a bunch of famous people at the rehearsal for an event I’m shooting. The highlight of my day was talking to Billy Cox, the former bass player for none other than Jimi Hendrix. But Billy is so much more than just “Jimi’s bass player”. He is an incredible musician in his own right and will be inducted into the Musician’s Hall of Fame tonight.

Congratulations, Billy, on your well deserved induction. And thanks for the photo op!

Começou nesta sexta-feira, dia 9 a etapa estadual do Minas Olímpica Jogos do Interior de Minas – Jimi 2009, em Uberlândia. O evento se estenderá até o dia 18 e contará com a participação de 5.000 atletas de 91 municípios do Estado. Os jogos desta sexta-feira serão de basquete, futsal, handebol e voleibol.

Nesta etapa, serão disputadas as modalidades individuais de atletismo, ciclismo, ginástica artística e ginástica trampolim, judô, karatê, natação, taekwon-do, tênis de mesa e xadrez; as partidas de duplas de peteca, e, para os atletas com deficiência, as modalidades de atletismo, basquetebol para cadeirantes, natação e tênis de mesa adaptado. Nesta etapa acontecem, também, as finais dos jogos coletivos.

Realizado há 25 anos pelo Governo de Minas, o Jimi é o maior evento esportivo de Minas Gerais e mais tradicional competição do esporte especializado realizada no Estado. Em sua etapa inicial, quando foram realizadas apenas as competições coletivas classificatórias, o Jimi recebeu a inscrição de 10.768 atletas, de 169 municípios.

Jimi Hendrix : Live-Evil

Ik kwam bij een vriend over de vloer met wie ik geheime muziek deel. Van die muziek die iedereen zou moeten kennen, maar waar op de een of andere manier niemand in mijn omgeving weet van heeft.

Bij het opzetten van deze plaat was ik de eerste paar minuten in de veronderstelling dat ik toch echt naar de enige overgebleven improv-jazz plaat van Jimi Hendrix aan het luisteren was. Het was echter Miles Davis.

John McLaughlin rockt de gitaar en drukt zijn stempel, maar het geluid van Miles’ trompet! Electronisch verstrekt en door effecten heen gehaald zodat het geluid van Jimi Hendrix’ WahWah geluid geëvenaard wordt. Miles Davis was in deze periode dan ook sterk beïnvloed door het geluid van Jimi Hendrix. Als hij niet in het jaar van deze plaat dood was gegaan had hij zich ongetwijfeld weer laten inspireren door het geluid van déze plaat. Miles in the Sky was dan misschien de oer jazz-rock plaat, Live-Evil was de plaat van waaruit alle individuele muziekanten hun eigen bands begonnen Herbie Hancock (Headhunters), Joe Zawinul (Weather Report), Chick Corea (Return to Forever) Airto Moreira, Jack DeJohnette, Dave Holland, John McLaughlin (Mahavishnu Orchestra), Wayne Shorter en Ron Carter.

Dus hier haalt The Mars Volta de mosterd! Die ritmes, de toonladders, de duur van de muziek, mijn god, Wauw. Het Artwork! Helemaal over the top Trippy. Een zwangere negerin / oermoeder op de voorkant en een personage uit een LSD narratief dat bovenop haar bacterierijke opening zit….

The Mars Volta was voor mij echt de enige ingang voor een referentiekader bij deze muziek, maar progressief begint dus hier en het plaatje is waarschijnlijk incompleet en nog veel groter..

First off, a man who needs no introduction. Jimi Hendrix is by far my favorite musician, you’ll probably see a lot of stuff you hadn’t heard of his on this blog. This is one of my favorite Jimi jams… It’s so original, so raw…. how can’t you like it?

Alright I’ll admit I didn’t find this one, I got it from a good friend Chris. Either way, you could throw this song on repeat and listen all day. That booming bass thump keeps the song going, and the monster waves this guy is surfing is just as mindblowing as the song. Definitely a cool song/video.

Figured I’d start off the blog with something dope.

Josh Homme, John Paul Jones, and Dave Grohl…. EPIC!!! Not sure when the CD is going to be released… I read online somewhere that it was Oct. 23 but then I read it was fake news so who knows. Just thought everybody should know about TCV.

I personally can’t wait to see this. Pretty incredible group of musicians offering legit insight into the world of guitar and music making in general. I cannot WAIT to see this!

For all the reasons I stated before, I can’t help but admit that I find myself (as of late) glued to the tube. It’s just too bizarre NOT to watch. My most recent after work activity has been crashing in front of my TV with camera in hand and full of anticipation. I’m never let down. Case in point, above pictured competitive eating show followed by show of housewives disgusted with their weight and mocked at their attempts to lose it. Isn’t that awful? No! It is awesome!

やっぱり前の言ったことがテレビの好きなことです。しょうがない！TVが本当に面白すぎです。最近仕事に帰ったらすぐテレビの前で座る。カメラと一緒に見ます。絶対面白いことが何回に見られる。たとえば、この上の二つ写真が食べられるのコンペです。そしてやせたいのデブのしゅふの番組。ひどくない？いえ、Awesome!

I made this video for my high school. They asked me to shoot a video and tell them how I was doing. It was a nice one day project. 高校のためにこのビデオを作りました。今のやることが知りたかった。この一日のプロジェクトはやっぱり面白かった。

Kid Who Lost Junior Sumo Competition

I’ve recently been getting into media as my new source of frustration and intrigue. I’d love to say that Japanese television offers nothing of any value or interest, but I’m sure that American TV hasn’t gotten any better since I left. But for now I’ll just keep it at TV as a whole being more dull and mind-numbing to me now that it has ever been. Even going back to some of the stuff I used to be into as a kid, little of it still holds up. I’m far from knowledgeable about what’s going on in TV land, but I’m sure that there is something to be said about the intimate connection that everyone else seems to have with it. I can’t remember the last time I was drawn into a program that had me in my chair at 8pm every Thursday, but I sure do miss that feeling. For now I’ll blame the internet for making me feel like I can always catch up with whatever I missed. I guess, in the end, I’m just bummed I can’t understand what is going on in all of these wacky Japanese shows. Maybe it’s for the better.

最近メディアが気にすごくなった。日本のテレビがあまり面白くないけどやっぱりアメリカと一緒。多分アメリカに出た時から何も面白くになってない。とりあえずテレビは前より一番つまらない。子供時見たのやつも今にはあまり見られない、残念。番組を気になるの久しぶり。でもその気分がまたほしい、やっぱり。インタネットのせいかな。あと日本のテレビがまだ全然分かりません。それのほうがいいかな。

KISS THE SKY!

After a lengthy period of planning and scheming, we’ve finally started to see our work producing tangible results. And what better manifestation could they take than our recently produced custom stamps! Although the Toothpaste Factory has been around for awhile, we’ve finally got the framework up for some interesting collaborative projects that we’ll be updating on as we go through this blog. For now, we are group of like-minded creative individuals with a common interest in making things happen. But ultimately, the work will speak for itself.

もう出来た！けっこう時間かかったけどこのグループの中にいろんな準備出来た。最近TFのスタンプを作った、楽しみ。TFはけっこう前に集められました。でももうそろそろ面白いプロジェクトを作りそう。このブログでどんどん出来るのことをアップデートする。私達が自分の考えることで一緒に頑張るのグループです。よろしく。
