Not only is “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” hilarious, he has everyone from the NBA on his show. Kimmel has been having tons of NBA related guests lately, providing us with plenty of great interviews. The latest guest, Charles Barkley, is top-notch. I could watch Barkley talk for hours, so it’s good to see him making his way around the talk show circuit.

Kimmel takes some shots at Barkley, but the interview is hilarious and Barkley plays some teaherball at the end. Classic.

Doug Benson will be performing at Lakeshore Theater on 12/6 at 4:20pm. Tickets are $20.

You might know Benson from NBC’s Last Comic Standing.  Doug is also a  series regular on VH-1’s Best Week Ever. He also makes recurring appearances on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live. On the classic sitcom Friends, he had the nerve to hit on Jennifer Aniston. He has his own half-hour special on Comedy Central, is a recurring character on The Sarah Silverman Program, and he got Larry David in a headlock on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Doug also stars in Super High Me, a documentary about the effects of not smoking marijuana after smoking marijuana for a long period of time. On a similar thematic tip, he’s also a co-creator/writer of The Marijuana-Logues, a show that’s been a hit (small pun intended) in clubs and theatres from Los Angeles to New York.

I’m a little late on putting this up but I was so stoked when I heard they were going to be performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live. This is def my favorite song off their album Lungs. Check it out above!

This song is cool but that performance need some tweeking. I liked how 50 was dressed though..I think it was the sound. But other than that yea I enjoyed myself.

50 Cent continued his promo run for BISD with a stop on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Fif talks about the films that are packaged with albums; BISD the movie & the JMJ documentary 2 Turntables And A Mic.  Fif also speaks on this recently released book, The 50th Law.

Its all over the net, the alleged affair between our Pambansang Kamao Manny Pacquiao and starlet Krista Ranillo, daughter of Mat Ranillo III. This issue has sparked interest among many Filipinos specially because we are a Catholic nation and even though many may say that men are polygamous by nature, I strongly believe that it takes two to tango. Really. Why do I say this, because a married man or even single men in general cannot have their way with a woman unless she allows it to happen. Seriously. It’s not just the man’s fault if you ask me. A woman being wooed by a married man can always stay away or tell him outright that she’s not interested in him. Come on, what future could a married man ever provide for her, unless she is only after financial gain which is the main accusation being hurled against Krista Ranillo.

If it is true that her whole family is supporting this supposed extra marital affair, then moral values are definitely in question here. What kind of parents would allow, and even condone the wrong actions of their daughter. Again, the issue of monetary dependence comes up as it is being circulated in some articles I read that Mat Ranillo is planning to run in the upcoming elections for a post in Mindanao, and that the family needs financial support for this bid.

As I watched Jinkee Pacquiao breaking into tears during the Thanksgiving Mass after the fight, I couldn’t help but feel her pain. I have never experienced being betrayed by my husband, but I was once betrayed by an ex-boyfriend (story in a later post perhaps!) and it was a deep pain that sent me packing hundreds of miles away to Cebu to work and eventually forget (not forgive yet) the experience. A woman who truly loves her man and never gives him a reason to doubt her faithfulness to him would really be devastated to learn, hear and even see the evidences of her man’s infidelity (there’s a video posted in youtube showing MP leaving the studio after his Jimmy Kimmel Live guesting and a woman is beside him as he drives away in his black Benz…it sure is not Jinkee as the woman tries to hide her face). How does a wife handle this issue, when stories and sightings of her husband and his co-star (they have an upcoming movie “Wapakman”) are spreading like wildfire. It must be truly unbearable for a wife to know something to be true and yet not be able to tell the world how she feels. I hope Jinkee has a solid group of family or friends who are supporting her right now to deal with this issue. It must be tough to keep everything private when they are obviously public property and everyone wants to know her thoughts and future actions. My prayers are with her and her kids who deserve nothing but respect and utmost privacy at this time to help them get through this crisis.

I write this post as a tribute to women like Jinkee Pacquiao who remain steadfast and assert their right as the legal wife and fight for her marriage. I fully support Team Jinkee Pacquiao in her quest to keep her marrige and family intact. Women who have relationships with married men may not necessarily be after money but some of them may just be too blinded by love not to let go and find happiness in a single man. In the case of MP and KR, nobody knows for sure what the true motivation is, if the rumors are indeed true.

I stand by the title of this post, I am for Team Jinkee Pacquiao! Go girl, get your man back where he truly belongs, no matter how long it takes. He belongs to you and your kids, do not ever let any woman come between you and your man!

I’m a sucker for all genres of music. Hip hop, Country, Slow Jams, Adult Contemporary, Movie Scores, Classical, Polka–you name it! But there is no replacement for hearing music performed live; simply better than any thing you’ll hear on headphones. Of course there are some bands that are really bad live, but that shouldn’t stop you from seeing them. The fun is just being there. Good or bad, here are just a few that give me goosebumps.

Joss Stone has grown up, to the extent that she’s reportedly willing to forfeit on £2million to leave record label, EMI, who appear to be annoyed that Stone, now 22, isn’t doing as she’s told as she did when she broke through as a 16-year-old wonder kid on The Soul Sessions. EMI even called the artwork for Colour Me Free! “offensive” and changed it in the US. The two years-plus leading up to this album have hardly been smooth. Stone’s third, R&B-style album, Introducing Joss Stone, got mixed responses and there was the backlash following Stone’s peculiar speech at the 2007 Brit Awards.

It’s difficult to say Stone’s cultural currency has fallen when she can call upon Jeff Beck, Nas and retro soul maestro Raphael Saadiq, even if the performances of the former two aren’t the finest. Beck draws out a flimsy funk like and generic classic rock solo on ‘Parallel Lines’, while Nas’ verses on ‘Governmentalist’ sound phoned in (although, he’s one of the few rappers to rhyme “dude” with “genetically modified food”).

‘Governmentalist’, a deep funk number with nods to Stone’s namesake Sly, is a stick out track rather than standout one, with explicit anti-war lyrics rather than Stone’s typical words about boyfriends being great/rubbish and peace-and-love hippyology. Trouble is, the message is lost among vocal acrobatics and the “thou shall not kill” line clangs.

It’s on the summery funk of ‘Free Me’ and ‘Incredible’ when she’s not being an X Factor-style, note-perfect diva that Stone has the most attitude and clarity in her voice. While on ‘4 And 20′, her huskiness complements the dreamy, lounge bar swing perfectly. Unfortunately, there are too many dull moments: an unadventurous cover of Ray Charles’ ‘I Believe It To My Soul’ (the nu-gospel reworking of ‘You Got The Love’ is great though); a break-up song devoid of any angst on ‘Could Have Been You’; and a 14-minute jam called ‘Mr Wankerman’, which makes Eamon’s ‘Fuck It (I Don’t Want You Back)’ appear a subtle put-down.

Stone’s voice, though, is always her own. She never tries to ape Dusty or Amy, as those who have followed her and Winehouse’s success have done. It’s just a shame the feistiness she’s shown in standing up to EMI and after the accent debacle at the Brits doesn’t appear on record. Originally posted at Daily Music Guide

Joss Stone – ‘Free Me’ (on Jimmy Kimmel Live!)

If you closed your eyes, it could have been 1985…

After 30 million albums sold worldwide, 19 Top Ten Billboard singles and a legacy of  entertaining music videos that helped establish MTV in the 80’s, Huey Lewis And The News  can still bring it.  Lewis and his long-standing band took an adoring crowd at Club Nokia on a  nostalgic trip through the 80’s, sharing the power of love and their music.

There is just something about Huey Lewis that makes you joyful.  It’s his voice, his smile, his  classic harmonica sound and just the unbridled fun that he brings to a live show.  There is a  comraderie between his band members that is contageous.  The songs…  well, it is difficult to  quantify the power of a song that can take you back to that certain memory from your youth.   The memory of love, won or lost, or that certain someone.  Songs like, “Heart and Soul,” and  “If This Is It,” took Lewis’ fans to that place on Thursday night.  You could see couples  laughing, flirting and gazing into each other’s eyes as the music swept them away.
 
Highlights of the concert were the opening, “The Heart of Rock & Roll” and two songs from  1985’s Back To The Future, “The Power of Love,” and “Back in Time.” The excited crowd  ranged in age from 20’s to their 60’s and were looking around for Marty McFly or Doc.   Something that this band does at every show and definitely showed their vocal mastery was a  two song acapella section of the night.  Included was a stripped down do-wop version of “It’s  Allright.”

“I Want a New Drug” is one of the great catchy hits of our generation and always makes you sing the words to the controversial Ghostbuster’s single- “Who you gonna’ call, Ghostbusters!”. An extended version of  “Workin’ for a Livin’” closed the set.  It was part of a 3-song encore that the fans demanded as they wouldn’t let Lewis leave.  Ah, yes, the heart of Huey Lewis And The News is still beating.

If you are looking for a great place to catch a show in Los Angeles, and want great music at an  amazing venue, it has to be Club Nokia.  The state of the art sound and atmosphere definitely  adds to the experience.  The size of the venue is ideal as you get the intimacy of a club mixed  with a good sized venue, complete with VIP services.  Even Lewis commented on the  difference between the band’s early days in Los Angeles, playing the Sunset Strip and the  Whiskey A Go-Go and LA Live’s new venue.  LA nightlife definitely has a new scene at LA  Live, including Katsuya, Flemings and the ESPN Zone.
 
Huey Lewis And The News will be appearing tonight (Friday November 13th) on The Jimmy  Kimmel Live Show on ABC.  There will also be an outdoor mini concert following the taping.
 
They will appear on The Bonnie Hunt show on Thursday, November 19.
