Everyone’s been talking about Sunday night’s American Music Awards. Lady Gaga shattered glass and set a piano on fire , Adam Lambert simulated all kinds of sexual acts and Jennifer Lopez fell on her world-famous ass. What a night! There have been tons of legitimate comments made about all of the crazy events from that night, and tons of annoying ones. This post, of course, is about one of the annoying comments.

So JLo fell during her performance. Check it out below in case you missed it (The action happens around the 2:40 mark:

Okay so clearly not her finest moment, but we don’t hate her for it. To be honest, we’re kind of surprised more people don’t fall on stage when performing. I actually tripped myself while walking down the street today. Not doing any fancy footwork mind you – just walking. So falling while performing on stage is something hard for me to hold against people. It sure is funny to watch though!

What’s not so funny, is when comments are made regarding situations completely unrelated to this fall. Our commenter of the day is Maribella. She commented on the Us Weekly article about JLo’s performance. Maribella writes:

Give it up Jennifer, your day has past. Take care of those twins, they need you more than we do.

Has JLo’s day passed? Sure, maybe. I’m certainly not a huge fan of her latest song, but that doesn’t change the fact that the woman is still pretty significantly famous. Now what we wonder, is what does any of this have to do with her taking care of her twins? Maribella, we sure hope you’re not insinuating that as a woman, Jennifer should be at home with her children instead of doing a job that she loves. We haven’t heard anything about Jennifer NOT taking care of her kids, so we wonder why you feel the need to remind her that she should? We are fortunate enough to live in a society where women can work and be mothers at the same time. And not for nothing but Jennifer is probably able to spend more time with her children because of her profession than most women who work 9-5 jobs every day.

Maribella, we’re not telling you to like Jennifer Lopez or her music, and you a free to consider her a has-been (although your reasoning shouldn’t be simply because she fell on stage…) But we’d really appreciate it if you spent some more time thinking before you tell a working woman to take care of her kids. We’re pretty sure JLo has it covered and doesn’t need your advice on the matter.

El número había sido planeado por los coreógrafos de la versión estadounidense del programaMira quién baila, quienes declararon a la revista People antes de la actuación: “(la coreografía) no os defraudará. Es un regreso que intenta decir: ‘esta soy yo, ¡no os olvideis!’”. Y parece que han conseguido su objetivo de ser recordados.

After Seacrest commends her for executing the “greatest recovery ever,” Lopez kids: “I meant to do that. What are you talking about? Don’t you know me better than that? It was part of the choreography!”

LOL… gotta admit, that was a smooth recovery.

Janet starts the night off wonderfully in my honest opinion. She danced and ended with “Together Again” a song about one of her friends who passed from AIDS but the lyrics were so appropriate for Michael. RIP King of Pop, your sister made you proud tonight.

If you don’t know by now, know that I’m a Lady GaGa fan. I love her and I believe she was great tonight! Some people on Twitter complain about her but how boring would this world be if everyone performed like each other? Don’t compare her to Rihanna. That’s disrespectful; live with the fact that Beyonce does her thing as does Rihanna, Brandy and any other artist out there. Variety isn’t bad people.

Shakira! Shakira! (In my best Wyclef voice) I thought her performance was interesting. The stepshow in the beginning threw me off for a little but it was cool. What HBCU did she go to for those moves? Very cool.

Rihanna…*sigh* I like her, I do but she’s really turned to the dark side! I’m worried about the girl. The songs I’ve heard from the album are all dark and dreary. If it works for her then hey, I can’t complain. Her album drops this Tuesday November 24, 2009.

The fuckery of the night in my book, Taylor Swift winning what 5 awards? When will the sympathy votes end? Kayne is somewhere punching the daylights out of a punching bag. He boosted her career. Yes, I know she was doing well before the Kanye outburst, but seriously, “The Kanye Effect” has benefited her more than anything. Tonight on Twitter I stated that she could sneeze in a movie and win an Oscar. Seriously, I believe it and if these sympathy votes keep going on, it will happen! And how did this little girl beat MJ for entertainer of the year? She didn’t sell more records than the King of Pop. UGH! Where is Kanye when you need him?!

I have never really been a fan of Jenny From The Block otherwise known as Jenifer Lopez. She has always made catchy songs but nothing that thrills me or that pushes the boundaries.

With a new album due out early in the new year J-Lo has released a new promo single, Fresh Out Of The Oven featuring Pitbull.

Once again it’s not an amazing song but it’s a very catchy.It has a nineties sound, with a very hott video. So it should sell. Check it out below.

Last night,Dick Clark and ABC television hosted the annual American Music Awards, where all kind of crazy and cool happenings went on,and Lady Gaga and Adam Lambert still stood out.

I like it how every year some new act feels the need to shock and push the limits of the public morals to the breaking point, and this year the winner for that category is Adam Lambert.

Adam,the runner-up for last seasons American Idol competition,decided to out do Katy Perry who kissed a girl, or at least had a hit record about it, by kissing a guy on stage.

And, as if that was not enough to get his point across, he then grabbed a male dancer, and had him kiss,…or do something like that, to his crotch. Many guys have done this on stage before,except with women.

I think the best one was that awards show on Spike TV hosted by Jamie Foxx,when he grabbed Halle Berry’s nice behind and laid a good kiss on her…remember that.

…Oh yeah…as usual,like clockwork…Lady Gaga got down!…she is the most interesting performer out there currently, and whenever she performs…I simply can not take my eyes off of her,because of her performances.

I woke up a little late, but it is Monday and here is my little wrap-up of last weekend.  I know MAMA is done and over with, and last night was the AMA’s, but here it is, just so no one thinks I missed out on anything (not that there was much to miss out on, anyway).  It will be quick and easy because I was unenthused for the most part.

I’ll start with Korea’s MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards)

First, I’m just going to get this outta the way – who witnessed THIS unfortunate incident??

I thought it was kinda funny that G-Dragon rocked so damn hard that he bust his seems, and in the most  inconvenient area.  I wonder if he noticed, or worse, felt it the second it happened… xP

I’m indifferent about the performances on Saturday night’s award show.  1.) I didn’t like the stage 2.) I detested the camera work and 3.) the performers lacked a bit of something…what is it…um, stage presence?  I like a lot of the songs that were performed at MAMA, but I was left a little underwhelmed by most of the acts.

And speaking of ‘acts‘, act 1, 2, and 3 of 2NE1’s 21st Street Musical was the most uncomfortable I’ve seen those ladies, ever.  The whole thing was scary.  See, the idea was great, but when I saw it for the first time on Saturday, I had no clue why they decided to stick with it.

If it was awkward for me to watch from my computer, who knows what the audience was thinking.

Act 1: KISS by Sandara – was all over the place.  The dancing was strange.  I noticed that Dara’s section of the stage said Club KISS, so I didn’t quite understand why the dancers were whirling around doing pirouettes.  Whirling in a club??  Don’t think so, and the cameraman hardly focused on Dara, and not to mention the terrible lighting at times… -_-

Act 2: You and I by Bom -  She looked adorable in her little house set, but on the contrary to Dara’s lack of focus from the cameraman, with Bom, all we had was her standing there while you’d get a glimpse of people scurrying around in the background.  She sounded good, though, but this is where I was thinking to myself ; “what does this have to do with act 1?“

Act 3: Please Don’t Go by CL and Minji – And this is where I realized that the entire concept of a musical was thrown out of the window. CL and Minji’s outfits are a little questionable, but this performance taken out of the whole musical was probably the best one.

As for the ending number, I thought it was dreadful.  I hope YG doesn’t put 2NE1 through something like this again, cuz it was not that great.

I still love 2NE1, though.

Brown Eyed Girls performed Sign, which wasn’t half bad, actually.  The beginning in particular was really nice.  They looked stun-ning!  They also performed a little number with KARA, dancing to a mix of Mister and Abracadabra, which was pretty hot, too.

Miryo took part in a little rap get-together with rappers from other female groups and, oddly enough, rapped to Lil’ Mama’s Lip Gloss.  To be honest, I don’t take any of these ladies as serious rappers.  Especially that girl with the black fur coat – she annoyed me with her sudden squeals.

G-Dragon and Taeyang performed their solo songs, along with a duet of Korean Dream.  Korean Dream was one of the better performances, I think.  G-Dragon’s DJ section was nice.

As for their solo songs, I saw no purpose for having all those men standing there on stage for Heartbreaker, doing absolutely nothing.  And I hurt a little when Taeyang did that flip and crotch landing on the floor.

2PM performed Heartbeat, which was actually really good.  They looked good and their hairstyle still makes me laugh.  JYP comes up somewhere in the middle and ‘pretends’ to conduct an orchestra.  But he redeems himself for poor orchestra knowledge with all the cool effects that later followed.  I think he took those flashy glasses from Miryo.  xD  Near the end, 2PM performs Again & Again.

Then there was this number.  Netizens aren’t too happy about this, mainly fangirls who are oozing with jealousy.  I, personally, thought this was a good performance.  Nichkhun was obviously part of the whole thing, but there are people out there that believe Ivy drew him up and made him uncomfortable by force.  No, no, no, uncomfortable is far from what he felt.  And the cleavage shouldn’t be an issue, I mean, if you’re listening to the song, Ivy is making it pretty clear that she wants to be touched.  A lot.

when a performance gets super heated like this, no one should take it seriously.  She was putting on a show, that’s what performers do, and she did a great job, no?

A pile of artists performed.  Janet Jackson opened the night with a decent melody of songs.  She was clearly lip-syncing, but that’s not a big shocker, since she always does that.  There were some boring performances in between.  One that I did enjoy was Shakira.  I thought she was amazing.  I thought it was funny when many women started dancing sexually in front of all the celebrities; you could tell they were awkwarded out.  I didn’t know the song Rihanna performed, so I didn’t like it.  Lady Gaga kept it pretty safe with the most outrageous part being a flaming piano.  And I think that’s where I stopped watching the award show because it was so goddamn boring.  I read that Jennifer Lopez fell on her butt, which was probably hilarious, since she’s struggling to break out on the music scene again…

Poor J Lo…she was previously known to be able to shake her talented body.  She will now be known for that horrible fall she took last night at the AMAs during her performance.

However, if you saw the whole dance, the choreography was done by Tabitha and Napoleon D’umo, (Nappytabs) two choreographers made popular by their work on So You Think You Can Dance.

But hey, her little disaster got people talking about her didn’t it?  It’s not often I google Jennifer Lopez (I wanted a quirky lyric to open up with).

Y reunió a los artistas más importantes de ese país, a excepción de Beyonces y Taylor Swift, todo mundo estaba presente. La gran ganadora fué Taylor Swift con 5 AMAS, incluyendo el de artista del año. El show incluyó presentaciones de  una increíble Janet Jackson; una muy aburrida Whitney Houston; Rihanna muy extraña y sombría; Green Day; Shakira esforzándose demasiado; nuestra favorita Lady Gaga (muy conceptual como siempre con su exitazo Bad Romance); Eminem; Jennifer Lopez, quien presentó un nuevo sencillo llamado Louboutins (en honor a los famosos tacones), igual de aburrido que su nuevo fresh out of the oven, además de que por más que practicó su presentación, terminó cayendo de nalgas en el piso (gracias a Dios cayó sobre su gran trasero y rebotó como si nada hubiera pasado); Black Eyed Peas; Kelly Clarkson, que parece le esta pidiendo tips de estilo a Paquita la del barrio; entre otros. So if you didn’t see the American Music Awards last night you didn’t miss much. About 90 percent of the performances showcased horrible singing and lack of talent. The highlights of the night were JLo’s infamous fall, Adam Lambert’s bazaar performance, and Taylor Swifts win over Michael Jackson.

Before Jlo graced the stage I had already predicted that her performance was going to be horrible. They kept saying she will be performing her new song “Louboutins”. She surprised me because it wasn’t as bad as i thought, but it wasn’t enough to keep my eyes open, or so i thought. just when I was about to doze off, I see JLo jump off a greased mans back and fall right on her tush. With that i decided to pay more attention because so far that was the best part of her performance. Poor JLo I felt bad for her after i laughed my butt off, but this is not her first fall on national television. So i guess she has learned to suck it up like a real champ and keep the show going.

Once again Someone else decided to sing a brand new song for the audience and that was Adam Lambert. He was the last performance of the night, and as most people know they usually close the show with a bang. Well Lambert did not disappoint. Throughout his whole performance I kept thinking ‘i cant believe what i am seeing’. It is no secret that Adam Lambert is gay, he has been seen with ex boyfriend around town, and he publicly spoke about his sexuality right after American idol was complete. However, what he did last night was still appalling. He opened up with dragging a women across the floor by her leg, then grabbing a leash which had two half naked men on the end. That was weird, but i was willing to accept a little weirdness. Then as he mounts the stage he thrusts a mans head right into his crotch. I couldn’t believe it!!! Was this national television. He then proceeds to thrust a woman’s head into his crotch. ( Aren’t you supposed to be gay?????). By this point his singing was waaaaayyy off key, but who cares all i was focused on was what next soft porn move this guy was going to make! Soon after a women decides to put her hand in his crotch from underneath. I was beginning to think that this song needed to be called crotches if this continued. And continue it did because he then proceeded to grab at another woman’s crotch right before he made out with one of the dancers on stage. WHAT WAS GOING ON HERE! i know for sure that none of this went on in the dress rehearsal. Adam Lambert’s performance was completely outrageous. I was stunned by what was allowed to be showed on national television. How are you going to bleep out swear words because they are so offensive and then at the end of the show have this parade of porn. I think other awards shows will be weary of letting Adam Lambert perform if this is what he is going to do every time you put a mic in his hand.

Now i love myself some Michael Jackson, but the fact that he was nominated in categories when he never released a song this year bothered me. Of course every category he was put in he won it except ONE. By the end of the show I had decided to accept the fact that MJ was being nominated for human nature ( which was released how many years ago…. ya that’s what i thought). So when he was up against Taylor Swift and Eminem for artist of the year, I was more than sure he was going to win. Obviously they were putting him in to prove a point right??. So when Taylor Swift won over Michael Jackson I was shocked to my core. HOW COULD TAYLOR SWIFT WIN OVER MICHAEL JACKSON. The entire idea was just crazy. When they flashed to her in London even she was shocked. Her entire speech was about Michael and how she was honored to have even been in the same category with him(damn right, you better be honored). American music awards have really gotten to a new low. Not only were most of the winners so predictable, but the one award that you should have been given to MJ, you give it to Taylor Swift. WHERE IS KANYE WHEN YOU NEED HIM! I half expected him to jump out on to the stage and speak on behalf of MJ.

Now don’t get me wrong there were some good highlights in the American music awards such as, Whitney Huston’s Performance and award ( even though i am still waiting for the climax of the song), Jay Z and Alicia keys performance, A new song by Mary j Blige, and of course Alicia Keys solo performance. I can even give Green Day some credit because they kept me more entertained then the return of Ri Ri( by the way what return as far as i know this girl hasn’t gone anywhere). But all the bad performance and strange behavior out weighed any possible good this award show had. I just kept feeling like I was watching another bad MTV award show, maybe even worse because there were double the performances. Annnnnnddd to top it all off WHO THE HELL IS GLORIANA! how could they win an award when nobody knows who the heck they are! I done!! i was disappointed with this award show to say the least.

Wow, not only did Rihanna represent in the wardrobe department, but everydamnbody looked hella FAB!

After having my mind blown by Star Trek, I flipped over to the American Music Awards in time to see Jennifer Lopez’s comeback attempt performing a song whose name I don’t recall and am not inclined to look up.

While 1999-2000 really seems like just yesterday, the decade has, indeed, come to  a close and things are not what they once were, as evidenced by Lopez’s tumble after vaulting off the back of a dancer while wearing five-inch heels. She recovered from the tumble, gathering herself enough to ask the crowd (via lip-synch) “You miss me?” The resounding response seemed to be “Once upon a time.”

Now, I could go in on Jennifer Lopez about the tumble or the singing poorly and such, but I have to admit: When she fell I gasped. I clapped my hand over my mouth and actually felt bad. Seeing any performer stumble is cringe-worthy because it really is like dying a thousand deaths on stage, but this emotion had something more to it.

I imagine anyone who saw it thought to themselves “JLo woulda nailed that. Jennifer Lopez, mother of two out of the limelight for a few years, apparently cannot.” Watching great performers lose a step always kind of hurts a little.

A few more thoughts on the AMAs in no particular order:

- Adam Lambert has vocal talent, but I think seeing him perform last night proved that performing live in a concert setting takes a particular talent that plenty of people don’t nail their first time–if ever. As I watched him cavort about the stage as in his spiked suit get-up, face-humping dancers and, at one point, pulling at the crotch chain of a woman in leather underwear, I couldn’t help but think to myself, “This is one time when being gay is helping this dude.” There are things each group can get away with that other can’t e.g. Blacks and “nigga”; women and “see you next Tuesday”…and I feel like crotch-chain pulling is not something I could do successfully.

-Taylor Swift is a talented kid. I was aware of her Pre-Kanye and can say that she does her thing and moves units with pre-Napster-like efficiency. In the pop sense, she is the real deal. That being said, enough is enough. Her windfall from being the little (white) girl who had her moment stolen from the drunken (black) dude is without parallel. Her beating Michael Jackson at anything just looks terrible in the historical sense, but I frankly think it’s worse that she beat a living person by the name of Lady Gaga. This robbery was tantamount to whoever won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar over Val Kilmer for his role in Tombstone. Really. Twitterer @BlackCanseco summed it up nicely when he said, “Once again #TaylorSwift is gettin more sympathy/support than Rihanna. And dude neva laid a glove on her.”

-Gaga is a no-pants wearing beast. Just talented and terribly mesmerizing. Still, those who worship at her altar should keep in mind that she’s Cyndi Lauper with the benefit of the internet.

-HD doesn’t flatter anyone. That’s not even throwing shade; it’s a sad reality that really can’t help the ego of anyone who has cameras pointed at them all the time. Watching the various acts, I started subconsciously touching my own face and thinking “Damn, they’d see every possible ingrown hair scenario on my already big-looking head”. It’s just like one of those giant “Oh crap, I’m ugly!” vanity mirrors women have on their nightstands.

-Jermaine Jackson is eating this up. I’m sure he misses his little brother–I’m sure of it–but he’s eating this up.

-Whitney’s a cagey veteran who really does deserve credit for bouncing back as she has, but people who mention this should do so with a hint of context. Yes; she came back from the brink, but you’re not really ever on the brink brink when you’re a wealthy world-famous entertainer who wasn’t foolish enough to squander every dime you have and thus, have the resource to come back from whatever needs coming back from.

-No big deal Jay but…numbers lie all the time. In fact, they’re often skewed for the purpose of deception so…yeah.

-Eminem began “Crack a Bottle” announcing, boxer-style, his height and weight, then rattled off these statistics “17 rapes, 400 assaults and 4 murders.” Maybe I work too much in news and such, but I found that first part particularly Pelosi Face-inducing. In semi-related news, I’m convinced a lot of already-famous rappers are no longer interested in rapping altogether and are completely nonplussed at the prospect of having to do so live.

-Timbaland’s fatal mistake wasn’t coming on stage looking like he’d started Thanksgiving a few weeks early; his error was in going from round to fit to rounder. You just can’t do that. If you’re going to stay round, people will notice your expansion, but won’t think much of it unless you become morbidly rotund. If you get swoll and take pictures in just smediums and clearly want it to be known you’re getting it in physically, you have to stay somewhere in that range. You cannot come out looking like you just ate Rick Ross with a side of Jazze Pha. For good or ill, those are the rules.

-I don’t pretend to really, really know what happened between Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, but I’m disinclined to think it was on the level and feel funny whenever I hear her singing love and relationship songs. On a semi-related note, has any woman gotten to skate more on something as egregious? I’m thinking her only competition of famous famous people is Angelina Jolie and even she didn’t break up a home with a kid in play. Lots of women have tried to tread this ground before and ended up like the first dude who tried to find the grail in The Last Crusade.
