Guzaarish (2010) is the up coming movie of Sanjayleela Bansali. For this movie he has taken 35crore as remuneration. This news surprised every. Bollywood trade circles are believing that, sure he has come up with a never seen story and screenplay.

Producers has spent huge amount for the settings of this movie also. Present the movie shooting is going very rapidly in Goa.Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan are the lead pair. After Jodhaa Akbar and Dhoom 2 (2006) once again this romantic couple is going to fire up the screen.

(Audrey) Thane and I are not huge Bollywood fans, but we dabble in the genre from time to time. For one thing, the movies have gotten better over the years in our eyes as singing/dancing is down a bit while plot development is up. For another thing, it’s a good excuse for me to practice listening Hindi. Finally, it’s a cultural experience, and even if I hate it I often force myself to endure culture experiences.

The other night we watched Kaminey, a darkish film about the mafia/drug world of Bombay (i.e. Mumbai).

The movie was recommended by a friend, and it began as so many Indian dvds that we buy do—with a banner saying something to the effect of “please buy this movie, this is only a preview” flashing across the bottom of the screen. This continued to flash on and off throughout the film. We bought the DVD at a legit store, but that’s no protection against bootlegged copies in this country.

About 20 minutes into the film we were thoroughly confused. The main character appeared to be leading two totally different lives that didn’t fit into any possible time structure. We paused the dvd and read the description on the back of our bootlegged copy. Turns out the story features twins, played by the same actor. Upon finding this out, Thane exclaimed, “Geez! Couldn’t they have given one of them a goatee or something to distinguish the two?” Five more minutes of watching revealed that, indeed, one of the two had a goatee, light and skeezy but there nonetheless. Upon listening more closely, I also noticed that one character had a lisp while the other stuttered—obviously distinguishing features to anybody who can speak fluent Hindi (which is neither of us).

We understood the rest of the film fine, but I can’t say I recommend it. I enjoyed far more Slumdog Millionaire, for example, and Jodhaa Akbar. Jodhaa Akbar in particular I highly recommend because it’s about Akbar and the Mughal Empire—don’t take it as legitimate history but it’s a nice reimagination that gets several of the major features of his reign across.

It’s about time I mention that I’m an avid spectator of Hindi films. I’ve been an

It’s about time I mention that I’m an avid spectator of Hindi films. I’ve been an avid fan since my friends introduced to me the world of Hindi film, song and dance through Om Shanti Om (2007). What an entry into this phenomenal world of energy, colour, movement, charisma, since this film stars the megastar’s megastar: the ever-wonderful, daring, charming Shahrukh Khan.

If it seems like I’m getting carried away with superlatives, in truth, I’m not. Just watch a Shahrukh Khan film and you’ll soon understand – suggested introductory viewing: Dilwale dulhania le jayenge (1995), Kabhi khushi kabhi gham (2001), Kuch kuch hota hai (1998); suggested subsequent viewing: Kal ho naa ho (2003), Dilse (1998), Veer-Zaara (2004), Om Shanti Om. Plus, perhaps the only appropriate way to talk about Hindi films is through superlatives. (Hence, the superlative number of images for this posting.) No matter how “small” the story, the intricacies of the narrative and characterisation, the sweep of the whole gamut of human emotions and relationships, the splendour of the choreography, and infectiousness of the songs make the overall presentation absolutely irresistible.

But not all Hindi films are irresistible, mind you. Several months ago I saw Kambakkht ishq (2009), starring Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor, partly to see Kumar in a film since some of my friends are solid fans of his persona and performance and partly to just see a Hindi film since I hadn’t seen one in a while. Well, getting a Hindi film fix just for the heck of it isn’t always a good idea. The film was practically cartoonish, and not in a good way. The only positive thing I can say about it is that Kumar was nice to see.

Let me get to the reason why I’ve begun to write this posting. Recently I finally watched Jodhaa Akbar (2008), starring megastars Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The film is a historical epic in every sense of the term. However, I’ve never been keen on historical epics. So why watch the film?

Jodhaa Akbar (Ashutosh Gowariker, 2008).

For those who are even remotely familiar with the film and are female, I’ve already provided the answer to the question. I may still be a novice when it comes to watching Hindi films, but I’ve come to know what I like. And I like Hrithik Roshan. A lot. Next to Shahrukh Khan, from the next generation Roshan succeeds in carrying the difficult task of provoking and sustaining one’s attention and emotion during a 2-hour-plus film. He’s been present on cinema screens since his 2000 leading star debut (in Kaho naa…pyaar hai) and I believe he’s earned every accolade and enthusiasm he’s received. He may have a couple of duds in his filmography, but no one can deny his star quality and all-around talent.

Jodhaa Akbar (2008). Hrithik Roshan.

Roshan’s magnetic presence anchors this nearly 4-hour film about a 16th-century love story between the Muslim Mughal emperor Jalaluddin Mohammed Akbar (“Akbar the Great”) and the Hindu Rajput princess Jodhaa. A marriage born out of the idea of political alliance develops along a rocky road into a full-blown, deep romance. The larger context onto which their marriage and love are tied is the unification of India under Akbar amid family feuds and conspiracies and the idea of tolerance and understanding of the common man and woman, regardless of religion. It all sounds ambitious, but by golly, everything falls into place to make for a damn good historical epic. And by “everything,” I mean among other things taming a wild elephant, a comical eunuch, a scheming foster mother, assassination attempts, and family feuding/jealousy/misunderstanding reminiscent of English tragedies, stellar set design, costume and cinematography, and Hindi film stars.

Jodhaa Akbar (2008).

Jodhaa Akbar (2008). Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

As the above image shows, the casting of this film is nothing but genius. Roshan and Rai Bachchan as the Emperor and Empress are gorgeous together; they present and wear their roles remarkably well. But their individual performances and chemistry make them rise above any kind of accusation about being nothing more than beautiful faces. They spar, desire and love in different ways as they get to know each other after their marriage: through actual sword-fighting, through dialogue, and above all, through meaningful looks and glances. And they pull it off handsomely (pun intended). Anything less than a good, solid performance from each of them, and the film would have crumbled.

Jodhaa Akbar (2008). Hrithik Roshan.

Jodhaa Akbar (2008). Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan.

The erotic tension between them constitutes half of the drama and heart of the film. So at times, you don’t know if you’re rooting for Akbar the emperor unifying India or Akbar the lover consummating his love with Jodhaa. I suppose that’s the point. The long looks of longing, frustration, resistance and attraction are quite sexy. The playful joust between them in the second half of the film is great, transforming into some lovely tension. Nothing like sweet erotic frustration, I always say. When it’s time for the song “In lamhon ke daaman mein,” you realise the uselessness of dialogue.

<img class=" " title="Jodhaa Akbar (2008)" src="http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/ad33/serpentshade/jodhaa_akbar_34.jpg" alt="Jodhaa Akbar (2008).

Jodhaa Akbar (2008). Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

In fact, what continually draws me to Roshan is just how good of a performer he is in the films I’ve seen. He first caught my attention through individual clips of his dancing from films. Just take a look at the opening number of Dhoom 2 (2006) or the “Main aisa kyun hoon” dance from Lakshya (2004). Then I realised he’s quite the actor. In Jodhaa Akbar, the flashes of anger towards those who rebel against him or deceive him, the first throbs of a love awakening inside him for Jodhaa, feelings of desire and longing, are just marvelous to watch. But Roshan must have tapped into his dancing experience to instil in his interpretation of Akbar such a particular movement that makes his bearing and carriage quite regal and authoritative. As a result, he has a marvelous presence. He falls into the lineage of dashing-good-looks actors like Errol Flynn and Alain Delon. As beautiful as Rai Bachchan is, next to Roshan she becomes more pretty or cute than stunning. And the film makes it a bit of a challenge to take one’s eyes off of Roshan when confronted with a scene where he’s practicing sword-fighting while shirtless. Perhaps someone will say that I’m blinded by Roshan’s gorgeousness to actually critique the film in a more intellectual way. If that’s the case, so be it.

The resolution of conflicts and the simplified, biased characterisation of Akbar as the “man of the people” on the throne are certainly causes for critical reflection. But why I keep on coming back to Hindi films is because of their unabashed understanding and delivery of visual and kinetic pleasure. I appreciate the talent, effort and utter creativity/innovation involved in these films, dances and songs in the same way I began my love affair with film with Hollywood musicals from the 1930s-1950s. Aha, you say. Yes. (Speaking of songs, my first exposure to Jodhaa Akbar was actually through the film’s excellent soundtrack, composed by A.R. Rahman. It’s a flawless soundtrack, in my opinion, and it’s such an integral part of the film instead of being just background musical effect.)

But I never came across anyone like Roshan during that era.

<img class=" " title="Jodhaa Akbar (2008)" src="http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/ad33/serpentshade/jodhaa_akbar_30.jpg" alt="Jodhaa Akbar (2008).

1.5 Stars (out of 4)

What if Stanley Kubrick had directed Mannequin? That’s what Ashutosh Gowariker’s venture into the realm of the romantic comedy feels like: an auteur squandering his talents in a genre he’s ill-suited for.

What’s Your Raashee? is a typical masala movie, in spite of being written, produced and directed by Gowariker, who was nominated for an Oscar for Lagaan.

Harman Baweja, stars as Yogesh, a recent MBA grad living in Chicago. He’s summoned home to India under the pretense that his father has had a heart attack.

His dad is actually fine. The family just needs Yogesh to get married and collect his inheritance from his grandpa in order to pay off elder brother Jitu’s debts. An astrologer predicts that Yogesh will get married in ten days time, so he’d better pick a girl quick.

Despite being smart enough to have earned an MBA from the University of Chicago, Yogesh doesn’t try to find another solution to the family’s money problems. He just goes along with their absurd scheme, following their command not to tell Grandpa about it, lest he view Jitu unfavorably.

Yogesh and his Uncle Devu cull the list of prospective marriage candidates to twelve women, one from each zodiac sign. All of the girls are played by Priyanka Chopra. Thankfully, Yogesh acknowledges their similarities in appearance, lest he come across as dimmer than he already seems for having agreed to his family’s moronic plan in the first place.

Priyanka Chopra deserves a lot of credit for even attempting to play twelve characters in the same movie. That she’s able to give them all distinct personalities and physical presences — showcased in a dance scene featuring all twelve characters on screen at the same time — is impressive.

But overall the movie disappoints, falling into the same traps as the worst Bollywood romantic comedies. There are two unnecessary, annoying side plots — one involving Uncle Devu, the other involving some gangsters — that drag the movie out and aren’t resolved in a satisfying way despite the movie’s nearly 210 minute runtime.

The movie is further dragged out by too many songs. Most of the women get their own song and dance numbers, even some of the girls Yogesh is obviously not going to marry. The routine associated with the Libra character, in which Yogesh plays a robot/puppet, is the worst number I’ve ever seen in a movie musical, Hindi or English.

There’s no reason why a romantic comedy, Bollywood or otherwise, should be more than two-and-a-half hours long. What’s Your Raashee? didn’t need to be either. Without the annoying side plots and cumbersome dance numbers, the movie would’ve been an hour shorter, making it an enjoyable if unexceptional movie.

Instead, it’s a movie best suited for watching on DVD, with your finger hovering over the fast forward button.

Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja paired opposite each other in this movie.

Yogesh Patel (Harman Baweja) is in hurry to find his dream girl. He has to catch that girl with in ten days to save his family members. What are the problems he faced on his way to find his girl ? is the main story.

Like Ashutosh Gowariker’s previous movies (Jodhaa Akbar, Lagaan and Swades) this is also a lengthy movie. Piggy Chops is going to play twelve different characters in this movie.

I’ve been slowly catching up on recorded films and, after watching Jab We Met a while back, recently saw Jodhaa Akbar and Chak De! India.

Both were enjoyable and, given the spare time, I’d happily watch them again. In fact all three films were good, which is probably down to the Indian film industry’s phenomenal output providing Channel Four with a wide range to choose from – though licensing deals presumably skew their decisions a little.

So, from the director of Lagaan and featuring Bollywood A-listers Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, historical epic Jodhaa Akbar was always likely to be a pretty big deal. And so it proved to be. Possible historical inaccuracies aside – and director Ashotosh said its genesis was 70% imagination – it’s very much an ‘epic’ tale.

Hrithik sports some suspiciously well-moulded armour, but gives a more likable, and plain impressive performance than in Koy Mil Gaya, one of the last of his films I saw. Aishwarya is great, as I suspect she often is (though if I ever watch Bride and Prejudice again it will be too soon).

Jodhaa Akbar didn’t capture my attention when it was released last year, but its emotion, cinematography and epic scale certainly won me over. Unusually, there’s no hint of a song until more than an hour into the film. Instead there are epic battles (more than 80 elephants, 100 horses and 55 camels were were used) and fight sequences that could easily compete with Hollywood films. Add to this sumptuous colours and beautiful Rajasthan palaces (yet another place to add to a future tour itinerary) and you’ve got a very good, engaging film.

Another film light on the songs was the third and final installment in Channel Four’s short Bollywood season, Chak De! India.

Staring Shah Rukh Khan (a global megastar, with the exception of Newark airport it would seem) the film is a battle-of-the-underdog hockey drama. It’s a glossy Bollywood film with the high-end production values this entails. The sports sequences were believable, the story-line interesting and it delivers the sort of plot arc you’d expect from an underdog drama.

It also taps into a common theme of Indian cinema, that of patriotism and knowledge of one’s country. Where this would more than likely be awkward or jingoistic in English cinema, Indian cinema, with its heart-on-its-sleeve emotions, generally carries it off it off without lurching into rampant nationalism. As for knowledge of one’s country, I’m sure it wasn’t intended to be subtle, nevertheless I liked the ‘we are all the face of India’ message.

My only gripe is that over three and a half hours, some more character development of the female team members would have been welcome. I know he is, to re-iterate the cliche, India’s Tom Cruise, but the film was a bit too much of The SRK Show.

Channel Four usually shows Bollywood films twice a year, so hopefully the next lot will be coming soon.
This time this two star directors are ready to compete at Box Office with What’s Your Rashee ? and Jail.

Lots hopes are there on both the movies. But another two movies are going to give tough competition to these two movies.
This time he must get hit, so he has already took lots of care on Wanted. Mahesh Manjrekar played an important role in this movie.

And second movie is Dil Bole Hadippa, which was produced by Yash Chopra on Yash Raj Films banner. Dil Bole Hadippa also looking very promising.

Karan Johar’s multi star studded film had Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, SRK, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. The film was shot in the US and UK, apart from India, and with designer wear and huge sets, it was one of the most expensive movies made during its time. It had a budget of about 42 crores.

Karan Johar again, this time minus Kareena, Hrithik, Kajol but including Rani Mukherji, Abhishek Bachchan and Priety Zinta made the whole of his movie in his favourite location, Manhattan, in New York. Thus, the budget was bound to shoot up just like the New York skyscrapers, to about 44 crores. Though the film did not much on the lines of a story, it did have a good music score, always a presence in a Karan Johar movie.

Farah Khan’s comical and over-the-top take on Bollywood was a colorful extravaganza filled with technical mastery. With SRK and Deepika in lead roles, the film was famous for its songs (the one with 31 stars from the film industry) and its reincarnation theme. It cost about 45 crores, out of which a large chunk must have surely been allotted to the publicity campaign, which was extensive.

Mind-numbing storyline (or the lack of it), below the belt jokes, Hollywood stars with no roles to play but eye candy, and vulgar show of skin characterized this movie.

After the girls at Camera, lights, history posted two reviews of this movie,I thought I should lose my prejudices and watch it too.
Well I did and I was just nooot as swept away by it as they were…but I totally give it a 5/5 and I admit that it’s a great movie.

So this is the love story(70% of it is the director’s imagination) of the muslim mughal emperor Akbar and his hindu rajput wife,Jodhaa. With a little twist of genuine Indian drama(which we loved,of course),some political discussions, mean enemies ,white pure main characters who strive to make the world a better place, tradition, religion, singing, nose earrings and Hrithik Roshan, this movie was a success.

So Akbar and Jodhaa fall in love…He falls in love not as slowly as she does.In fact he’s bewitched by her even before he sees her face, and when he does see her face he looks as if he’s just fallen from the sky.He also forgot his shoes on the way out.
Still,I got a bit confused.Where was he going on his way out?Where did she disappear? You could clearly hear her singing and he was looking with love at a non moving point(while moving) but he was alone with the white flowy veils…and she was still singing.Hmmmm.
My sister’s reaction was…what’s going on?Where did she go?
What killed me was that he dismissed the parliament or government or whatever that was, because he heard her singing.OOOK people,I’m the king here so come back with the important state problems…tomorrow or some other day.Now I must go and check what’s up with the singing!!Yea!
She falls in love slowly,as I already said before…me thinks this happens after she sees his bear back while he’s practicing sword fighting. That was a funny scene.
Akbar the sword fighting back stripper! He also takes muscle enhancement drugs! It’s a purk!Come now and get a free look at his abs too!Only today!
He was so nice when he asked to eat from the same dishes she ate.Coolio.

There’s also the locating of the wife, the sword fighting, the sleeping in the same room…platonically…and in the end the not so platonically sleeping in the same room.
Soo enough about the falling in love.It was ocasionally cheesy.

The politics:ough(that’s a sigh).
I’m gonna go through this really fast. The point is that Akbar was a great ruler who learned how to listen to his people and tried to improve their living. He was also very tolerant with religion(very 21st century for a 16th century emperor).

The singing:sigh.
I’m gonna go through this really fast too.
I get it…this singing…it’s an Indian thing.

The tradition:well, what I did understand was that much like in the case of the Persian emperors,Akbar was not an all powerfull ruler. He had to obey the laws and the will of his government.
What is this? Was this empire a rather democratic one?Hmmm.
The emperor respects all religions and while saying that,he looks like a beacon of light…or like Franklin.
Jodhaa makes demands, refuses to marry him unless he meets her demands(does anybody want to pinch me?),refuses to share his bed and won’t go back home with him.
Wroooong.You can’t do that woman!!You’re in the 16th century,remember?…Guess she forgot.
I’ll explain it to ya really simple. She must obey her father and after she is married she must obey her man.Fullstop.I mean,we’re talking about the culture that demands to have the women killed at the death of their husband.
Just how historically inaccurate is this movie, you might ask yourselves?
Very.Don’t go with the ‘it’s another culture and we can’t understand it’ thing.Bollywood is Bollywood and we must love it for what it is.Exageration.

The good part is that you learn some about the religious division in India and you get to see A.R. singing about Khrishna’s curves(for real).
Now I’ve only got two things left to say.
First of all, after Akbar had Adham thrown in his head and asked ‘Is he dead?’,I said(I’m full of funzies):If not, let’s get him back up and DO IT AGAIN…which was pretty much what Akbar said…to my shock!
Second of all:I really really loved the fact that Akbar didn’t kill his brother in law because of Banu. That was so kind and it sends a message about the importance of family.Family rocks!

Don’t get me wrong,I enjoyed Jodhaa Akbar despite my harsh review and I think it’s one of the best Indian movies I saw.
5/5 stars absolutely.

Synopsis : Jodhaa Akbar is a sixteenth century love story about a political marriage of convenience

Synopsis :

Jodhaa Akbar is a sixteenth century love story about a political marriage of convenience that gave birth to true love between a great Mughal emperor, Akbar, and a Rajput princess, Jodhaa.

Political success knew no bounds for Emperor Akbar (Hrithik Roshan). After having secured the Hindu Kush, he furthered his realm by conquest until his empire extended from Afghanistan to the Bay of Bengal, and from the Himalayas to the Narmada River. Through a shrewd blend of diplomacy, intimidation and brute force, Akbar won the allegiance of the Rajputs. This allegiance was not universal. Maharana Pratap and many other Rajputs always considered Akbar as a foreign invader. Maharana Pratap also banned inter marriages between Rajputs who had given their daughters to the Mughals and the ones who did not. But little did Akbar know that when he married Jodhaa (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), a fiery Rajput princess, in order to further strengthen his relations with the Rajputs, he would in turn be embarking upon a new journey – the journey of true love.

The daughter of King Bharmal of Amer, Jodhaa resented being reduced to a mere political pawn in this marriage of alliance, and Akbar’s biggest challenge now did not merely lie in winning battles, but in winning the love of Jodhaa – a love hidden deep below resentment and extreme prejudice. Jodhaa-Akbar is their untold love story.

review :

it’s about something really luxurious and beautiful . Not to forget the beauty of India and their cultural problems , a real MARVELOUS historical romance of one of the most exotic place in Asia called India .

The setting was extremely perfect and beautiful . You will see the greatness of God in that beautiful desert captured in perfect cinematography by Ashutosh Gowariker .

Jodhaa Akbar amazed me for 3 and half hours . VERY LONG TIME and sometimes it was very boring , it made my brain went slower for a while and it wasn’t that nice when the scenes start to be slow and useless . But , there’s amazing tension after those boring scenes . So , i can say that the “boring feeling” was cured after the tension scene came out .

What keeps me woke up was the extremely beautiful scenery , cinematography , the set , the costume and the “smooth” acting from the actors .

Well , the songs or i can say the soundtrack of the movie itself was pretty amazing eventhough there was too much repetition upon few songs which distracted me for a while from the movie . The tunes of the songs themself were pretty beautiful without losing its traditional Bollywood tune .

Jodhaa Akbar doesn’t lose its BOLLYWOOD points like dancing scenes , love scenes etc . But, Ashutosh Gowariker could make Jodhaa Akbar as an expensive-looking movie even with those classic BOLLYWOOD thingies . Surely perfect for this one , eventhough sometimes there’s still some scenes which were too long and boring .

Then , the actors and the actresses . All eyes on Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan . 99% perfect chemistry between them , expensive faces work with luxurious kingdom sets and of course with great acting of those two . They could make this movie and their movements as another representative of art .

At the end , i really like this movie , extremely luxurious beauty from India , PROBABLY THE BEST BOLLYWOOD MOVIE EVER . If i watched this in a festival(or cinema) , i would give Jodhaa Akbar a standing ovation .

THE MOVIE ITSELF IS AN ART .

Trivia

Ashutosh Gowariker hired a research team of historians and scholars from Delhi, Lucknow, Agra and Jaipur to guide him on the film.

Due to the fact that this film was filmed in sync sound, director Ashutosh banned the use of mobile phones for his entire cast and crew on the sets.

Art director Nitin Desai created little cottages for Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai at his studio because Director Ashutosh Gowariker wanted the actors to stay in Karjat, where they were filming, rather than have them commute from Mumbai every day. They had all the comforts of home in the cottage. Hrithik’s wife and son also stayed with him at the cottage.

Over 80 elephants, 100 horses, and 55 camels were used in the movie.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wore brown contact lenses for her role.

This film was originally scheduled for release around November 2007, but post production delay moved it to February 2008.

Yuri or more correctly Wing Commander Yogesh Suri, who played Bairam Khan, is a qualified Cosmonaut, and during his career flew several types of aircraft including the MiG 21 and MiG 25.

For Hrithik and Aishwarya’s sword fight scene, initially the sword was made of wood and fiber. But Hrithik and Aishwarya found it difficult to maneuver it, and so the swords were re-made light fiber.

This is Aishwarya’s first film where her name appears in the credits as her new married name, Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan.

The district administration imposed a ban on the screening of Jodhaa Akbar in Ambala, India following protests by members of the Rajput community who alleged that historical facts had been distorted in the film. They believe that Jodhaa was Akbar’s daughter-in-law and not his wife.

For the grand song and dance number, ‘Azeem-O-Shaan Shahenshah’, four choreographers were hired to teach the dancers.

While shooting in Sambhar (Faloti village) in June, sandstorms would occur at intervals of half hour. The unit could see the sandstorm coming 2-3 minutes away and they would only stop when it was half a minute away, then immediately take cover and then come back to shoot as soon as the storm would pass. This would happen every half hour. Hritik Roshan was a part of that sequence — the Ajmer Sharif scene.

In order to acquaint himself with the elephant and strike a comfort level, Hrithik Roshan used to travel to Karjat on days when he was not shooting, just to spend time with the elephant and feed her bananas at lunch. He called him Sweety pie and she would recognize his voice and his cologne.

Rajesh Vivek, who plays Chugtai Khan, used to recite poetry to his horse while preparing for the scene where Akbar and his entourage enter Ajmer for the first time, post his marriage to Jodhaa.

Hrithik Roshan had a very “filmy” horse. The horse used to know what words like action meant and so when she heard action, she would take off, even if the scene required her to be stationary. Hence the crew would use other words instead of action to avoid the horse taking off. The names of his horses were Chandni and Superman.

During the first schedule in Rajasthan, the dressing of extras would begin at 5am and take almost 5 hours to complete the task. All these extras were Rajasthani’s who knew no English at all, yet during the course of the shooting, they started learning words like first pass, second pass, action. Etc. They were extremely well behaved and soon became like junior actors.

Ila Arun plays the character of Maham Anga which is a stark contrast to her personality. So after portraying the very stern character for the film, she would feel terribly shy and immediately return to her trailer.

Ashutosh Gowariker kept his full concentration on What’s Your Raashee ?. In 2008 he came with heavy budgeted movie Jodhaa Akbar. It became a successful movie and bagged 11 IIFA awards and 5 Filmfare awards. But Hrithik Roshan fans disappointed a little.

But this time he is not ready to give that chance also. He is working to deliver the hit like Lagaan. Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja paired opposite each other in this movie. This movie is very important to Harman Baweja career.

Priyanka Chopra who has received many awards with Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion, expecting similar result with this movie also. Fashion movie success gave her many prestigious offers like Pyaar Impossible opposite Yash Chopra’s son Uday Chopra and Kismat Talkies opposite Hrithik Roshan, which will be directed by Farhan Akhtar’s sister Zoya Akhtar.

But Piggy Chops has her major hopes on What’s Your Raashee ? only.
