Joel Madden has updated his fans on the Good Charlotte website that Nicole is now out of hospital.Joel wrote “So I stepped off the plane after a month out of the country, and basically went straight to the hospital for the week. But don’t worry all is well and we are home with no problems”

All were in play today in downtown L.A., but it’s not exactly what you think.

Richie appeared Monday afternoon in court, where she was granted a permanent protective order against a couple of shutterbugs she had accused of harassing her.

Richie, dressed in a sheer white blouse with her hair pulled tightly back in a bun, showed up with Madden, dressed in a black suit, and gave testimony of a car accident she blamed on the the paparazzi.

But the news that caused the most buzz was her lawyer’s pronouncement of them as husband and wife.

Attorney Mark Geragos repeatedly referred to Madden as “your husband” during questioning of Richie.

And that was news to us.

While Richie and Madden have been together for three years and have two young children, they have not, as far as we know, tied the knot.

There is also no marriage license on file in L.A. County for the duo as of last week.

Afterward, Geragos explained himself. He exclusively told E! News that Richie and Madden have a “common-law” marriage. Richie and Madden, who were standing next to Geragos, didn’t say otherwise.

However, a source close to the couple insisted to E! News that Geragos just misspoke and they aren’t hitched in any sense of the word. (Besides, says family attorney Neal Hersh, the state of California doesn’t recognize common-law marriage.)

As for today’s hearing, Richie faced off with the two photogs, Eduardo Arrivabene and Ivon Emilio Melo Miguel, who she claims hounded her into a car accident last month.

Before Richie took the stand, Geragos prefaced her testimony by telling the court, “She’s not feeling well. She’s been diagnosed by a doctor.”

Richie, who was suffering from the flu last week and ended up missing the launch of her House of Harlow line at Bebe, coughed the entire time as her lawyers offered her water.

During her testimony, Richie detailed the events leading up to the car accident.”A few of the paparazzi had become more aggressive…trying to get in front of me, trying to get beside me, ran a red light,” said Richie. “I was hysterically crying.”Richie told the court, “They’re always following me. I’ve seen them inside my property once.”Madden also took the stand saying, “She’s with the kids 24-7, and she takes them to work. She’s constantly terrified.”Before making a decision, Judge Carol Goodson said, “The court is extremely concerned about the possibility of a future accident,” then added, “but you’re asking me to weigh the pros and cons of celebrity…They do have a right to earn a living…[Richie] does not have a right to pick and choose her photographers.”The photogs, who were also present in court, apologized to Richie and “promised” to leave her alone. Miguel claimed he’s never been on Richie’s property.The protective order extends to Richie and her two children, Harlow and Sparrow, and will expire Nov. 16, 2012. L’avocat Mark Geragos a fait référence à Madden, qui se trouvait dans la salle d’audience, comme étant le mari de Richie lorsqu’il interrogeait celle-ci.

Le couple est ensemble depuis trois ans et a deux enfants mais n’est pas marié… Du moins, à ce que l’on sache! Les propos de l’homme de loi ne sont toutefois pas tombés dans l’oreille d’un sourd. Les médias s’en sont régalés.

E! Online rapporte toutefois qu’aucun permis de mariage au nom du couple ne figure dans les archives du comté de Los Angeles. Les recherches ont porté sur des documents émis jusqu’à la semaine dernière.

Geragos s’est ensuite expliqué. Il a dit à E! Online que Richie et Madden étaient conjoints de fait. Les deux tourtereaux, qui se trouvaient à ses côtés, n’ont pas dit le contraire.

Une source proche du couple a tenu à préciser à E! que Geragos avait eu un lapsus. Richie et Madden ne seraient pas mariés.

Un avocat spécialisé en droit familial a également indiqué que la Californie ne reconnaissait pas les unions de fait.

Ordonnance restrictive contre des paparazzis

Quant à l’audience du tribunal tenue lundi, Richie prétendait que deux photographes, Eduardo Arrivabene et Ivon Emilio Melo Miguel, étaient responsables d’un accident de voiture dont elle a été victime le mois dernier.

Ils la suivaient alors qu’elle était au volant de son véhicule et devenaient de plus en plus agressifs.

«Ils me suivent tout le temps. Je les ai même vus sur ma propriété à une reprise», a-t-elle raconté.

Madden a de son côté ajouté que sa compagne avait peur pour ses enfants qui se trouvent constamment à ses côtés.
Les deux paparazzis, qui assistaient à l’audience, ont promis de laisser Richie tranquille. Miguel a quant à lui affirmé ne s’être jamais trouvé sur la propriété de la jeune femme.
Le juge a émis une ordonnance restrictive contre les deux hommes. Cette injonction protège Richie et ses deux enfants. Elle est en vigueur jusqu’au 16 novembre 2012. Les individus doivent se tenir à une distance minimale de 50 pieds de la star, de sa famille et de leur véhicule.

At 7:00 pm, prepare to be mesmerized when the Mayor and special celebrity guest and UNICEF supporter, Rebecca Mader, flip the switch on the stunning 12,000-crystal UNICEF snowflake floating over the Beverly Wilshire hotel and the thousands of twinkle lights along Rodeo Drive. The grand finale? An awe-inspiring fireworks display overhead, synchronized to the music of the season. The UNICEF crystal snowflake will remain illuminated until January 1, 2010.

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden have officially married today, Nicole’s lawyer confirming the marriage of the two in court.

Rumors about a secret marriage between Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, appeared in October, one month after the birth of the couple’s second child. However, and her boyfriend did not want to give any information about this topic. More opened with the press was Nicole’s father, Lionel Richie, who welcomed Joel into the family in an award ceremony.

Apparently, Nicole started to think seriously about marriage after the death of her former boyfriend, Adam Goldstein.

Good Charlotte’s frontman and Nicole Richie have a two years relationship and to kids together.

This week’s letter comes from Eileen Owens of Napavine, Wash., in regards to the profile piece about Nicole Richie and Joel Madden’s new baby that was published early November. The article in question basically said Nicole and Joel are happy they have a new baby to match their old one. Eileen writes:

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are trying to do everything right as parents except get married. Have celebrities gotten so far away from the world of “reality” that they don’t see the need for marriage? For the sake of their children, I really think Nicole and Joel ought to consider it.

Certainly, that baby will not grow up to be a healthy adult if his parents aren’t married. The love they show him as he grows is not the same kind of love a married couple shows their child; rather, the affection of Joel and Nicole likely will slowly poison their new child, either killing him before his first year or turn him into a Urakhai-type creature when he reaches adulthood.

Eileen wonders why celebrities aren’t set in “reality,” questioning Joel and Nicole’s moral compass. This is flawed for two reasons: one, it assumes that Joel and Nicole are celebrities in even the loosest sense of the word (science has proven that’s not the case); and two, it assumes the “reality” (a shameful waste of two precious quote marks, I must say) Eileen speaks of is ideal. Why should this seemingly happy couple join the marital ranks of Ike and Tina Turner, Britney Spears and Jason Alexander, and Bing Crosby and all his wives? Marriage isn’t a magic pill to make someone a better person. It’s also a dying institution, as evidenced by the nearly 50 percent divorce rate in America.

The status of marriage has nothing to do with love, but instead financial and insurance benefits from the government and your employer. But the fact that Eileen has given us written proof that at least one person in the world thinks it has not only a bearing on a person’s relationship with his or her mate, but also what kind of parent someone is. And that to me, as a connoisseur of human stupidity, is AWESOME. I’d honestly be more concerned with Joel and Nicole’s choice of the name Sparrow for their son than whether they’re married.

Good Charlotte star Joel Madden has decided not to shave his beard until next year.

The rocker announced it on Twitter after asking fans if he should avoid using the razor, reports Contactmusic.

He posted: “Should I shave? I haven”t in five weeks. OK, so the tweets have spoken – 80percent say I should not shave.

“If that is your wish, then I will not shave. But by mid-Jan I should have a beard.”

He also feels that his girlfriend Nicole Ritchie will not complain.

He added: “Three good reasons why Joel should not shave: 1. It’’s November; 2. Nicole likes me with a dirty face; 3. I”m lazy.”

It is official, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden have tied the knot. Nicole’s lawyer Agatha Darakjian, confirmed to Radaronline in court Monday that the couple are indeed legally hitched.

Congratulations to both Nicole and Joel and hopefully their marriage last longer that most Hollywood marriages.

How are you adapting to being a family of four?

N: When we took our first pictures and I saw all four of us together, that was the first time I was like, “Wow, it’s the four of us.” It’s fun. If Harlow is with me, I’ll say, “Let’s put Sparrow to bed,” and she’ll come play while I do that.

J: Because he’s with Nicole most of the time, I’m spending so much time with Harlow. I’ll say, “Tomorrow Daddy and Harlow are going to go on a date; what do you want to do?” Sometimes it’s go to the zoo, or go see ponies. Sometimes she wants to go sit in her own chair at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. We’ll just sit there and talk.

N: She’s said, “Go to a birthday party,” which can be difficult.

J: I’m like, “I’ll try to figure that one out!” Nicole had her birthday right after she had Sparrow, and Harlow and I threw her a birthday party — she was so excited.

N: So she got an Elmo cake. It had nothing to do with me!

How is having a baby boy different?

N: I have to give Joel credit — he’s doing most of the diaper changing. Changing a boy is different.

J: He can spray you!

N: Also Harlow was never cuddly as a baby. But Sparrow is very physically attached to me. Sometimes all he wants is for me to hold him.

What is Harlow’s personality like?

N: Harlow will come out of nowhere, hug me and say, “I love you Mommy.” It just melts me.

J: I’ll take her out to eat and say, “Have whatever you want!” She’ll say, “Carrots!”

What do you admire about each other as parents?

J: Mothering comes naturally to Nicole. She loves it. The kids always come first — and she makes it all look easy. As a dad, there’s no better feeling. While I’m working, it all piles on her. She is taking care of the kids, and it never gets to her. She doesn’t feel like she’s giving anything up — she is wholeheartedly their mom.

N: Joel’s the best dad. He’s so delicate with Harlow — it brings tears to my eyes.

J: Harlow’s very easy — she has me wrapped around her finger.

Has your social life changed as your family grows?

J: You don’t lose old friends, but the time you can spend with them is limited. Our interactions revolve around getting together with people who have kids.

What’s your secret to losing your baby weight so quickly?

J: She doesn’t work out, she doesn’t diet. It’s so easy for her.

N: Thank you, honey — if only the whole world saw me through Joel’s eyes! I’m breastfeeding, so that sucks the life out of you.

What lies ahead for your family?

N: I’m dedicating this time to bonding with the kids and putting all of my energy towards my family. Harlow is on her way to potty training. It’s happening naturally — I include her in whatever I’m doing, and she wants to do it.

J: You pee in front of her?

N: Yes, do you?

J: No!

Any talk of tying the knot?

N: One day I would love to get married. It’s not something we’re talking about now. If my kids ask me to get married, I’d get married.

J: Nothing needs to change — it’s a great feeling.

N: The only thing you want is for your kids to be healthy and happy, and they are. I couldn’t be happier.
