By Bradley Blakeman – FOXNews.com Why the White House and Democrats’ plans to expand the

By Bradley Blakeman

– FOXNews.com

Why the White House and Democrats’ plans to expand the Office of Personnel Management should scare all Americans.

he Obama administration seeks to empower a very powerful government agency you have probably never heard of with new and expanded powers that will have a direct consequence on every American if they are successful in their efforts to implement national health care reforms.

The Obama White House is also drunk with power and is seeking to expand the powers of government agencies to oversee and act out to affect Americans in ways that this country has never seen before.

What is the Office of Personnel and Management and why should you care?

The Office of Personnel Management, (OPM), is suppose to be an independent government agency that is charged with managing the civil service system of the federal government. If you are a federal employee then civil service laws, rules and regulations that are managed by OPM govern you. One of the main charges of OPM is to administer and oversee federal health care provided to all federal employees.

The Director of OPM is appointed directly by the president and confirmed by the Democratically controlled Senate. The current director of OPM is a fellow by the name of John Berry who, before becoming OPM director this past year, was director of the Smithsonian’s National Zoo. — You cannot make this stuff up.Under the Democrats’ national health care scheme not only would OPM be charged with overseeing and administering federal employees health care but they will have the added charge of administering civilian federal health care as well. What does that mean? Basically, that Americans will be treated as “civil servants.” Are you starting to see the danger?

The more government seeks to control our lives the more Orwellian it gets. This “big brother” mentality that “government knows best” and that it is their mission to provide cradle to grave “care” of its citizens will doom America as we know it. Under such a system the individual becomes meaningless and the state becomes the entity upon which we are all forced to rely.

Most recently OPM made news when the Obama administration sought to use it as a tool upon which to consolidate power.

Under orders from the White House, it is being reported that OPM is on a mission to rid the executive branch bureaucracy of Bush-era personnel who are no longer political appointees and who have lawfully become civil servants. It is not uncommon for some presidential political appointees to have the opportunity to become civil servants within the federal bureaucracy when they meet all the criteria for a federal civil service job.– Ordinarily, a political appointee serves “at the pleasure of the president” who originally appointed that person to a particular position. When the president’s term is up their job is up as well. But, when a political appointee becomes a civil servant they are considered full- time government employees and are subject to the rules and regulations governing all other federal employees. Civil service jobs are seen a non-political jobs and are not based on appointment. They are based on merit. Their employment continues until they retire, quit, or are removed from their position for cause. It should never be permissible to remove a civil servant based solely on their political affiliation.

The Obama administration has now ordered a purging of Republicans from federal government civil service.

The Office of Federal Personnel Management, (OPM), has become the “henchman” of the Obama administration. Following orders they have issued new rules — going back five years –wherein every employee hired, who previously had been a political appointee, will be terminated regardless of cause or poor performance.

It is clear what the intent of the Obama administration is by looking at the following statement made by John Berry the Director of OPM:

Beginning January 1, 2010, agencies must seek prior approval from OPM before they can appoint a current or recent political appointee to a competitive or non-political excepted service position at any level under the provisions of title 5, United States Code. OPM will review these proposed appointments to ensure they comply with merit system principles and applicable civil service laws. I have delegated decision-making authority over these matters to career Senior Executives at OPM to avoid any hint of political influence.

The memorandum specifically applies this change to all political appointees hired in the past 5 years and effectively works to freeze them out of their current jobs or make their lives so miserable by denying promotions, that they will quit before they are forced out.It is outrageous that the Obama administration would politicize what is supposed to be a independent government agency and would become so vindictive and cold in their exercise of raw government agency that they would take steps to eliminate people from their legitimate government employment, based solely on their political pedigree and not their job performance.

I served in the White House during the presidency of George W. Bush. When he took office, we knew that a fair amount of Clinton appointees were making the transition from political appointment positions to civil service positions and nothing was done to “root them out”. They were entitled to remain in their positions and were held to the same standard of job performance as any other civil service employee.

There is nothing worse than abuse of government power. It erodes the very fabric of our laws and respect for government institutions.

For an incoming administration to make a “witch hunt” one of its top priorities and to attempt to fire civil servants who they believe are Republican “sympathizers” is something you might have expected in the former Soviet Union or from the KGB. But it’s not something we expected to see in the United States led by the White House.

The expanded “portfolio” of OPM should worry all Americans. This little known agency will make the IRS look down right friendly if the Obama administration is successful in expanding their duties, powers and responsibilities.

“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.” -Charles Darwin

Few musical acts can lay claim to such dynamic evolution as Blu Mar Ten. Formed in the big-bang of 90’s drum & bass, their superior genes saw them grow and mutate beyond the confines of the jungle into lush experimentation with downtempo, ambient, house, techno & left-field.

Returning to their ancestral roots, ‘Natural History’ is the long-awaited first full drum & bass album from Blu Mar Ten leaving you in no doubt about their position at the cutting edge of the genre. From the storming remix of vocal opener ‘Starting Over’, through the deeply abstract ‘Grey Area’, to the VIP rework of massive club hit ‘Close’ and the epic ‘Last Dance’, ‘Natural History’ showcases the trio’s ability to enrich and develop their DNA, resulting in an album full of surprising twists and turns that always carry the Blu Mar Ten stamp of quality.

DJ support for ‘Natural History’ has come from right across the d&b family tree, including:

John B. and I went to the gay village this morning. I am thankful to the Lord that John was able to meet three new people. He talked with one man for about two and half hours! Praise the Lord for this opportunity to build relationships and spread the Gospel. John and I were both encouraged by this open door.

As for me . . . well . . . I talked to someone this time! I greeted one man who sat down near me and talked to him about the weather (but only briefly). His body language politely indicated that he had things to read. The conversation ended short. That was it for me – no matter where I sat, no one came near. By God’s grace I am not discouraged. John B. encouraged me not to be discouraged but to keep going down there. I am mindful of spiritual warfare (cf. Ephesians 6). We talked about how I can best serve the New City Baptist Church plant (since I felt kind of useless). He assured me that going out with him was a good idea – especially as it is an entirely new demographic for me and there is a great need for the love of Christ to shine there. I am thankful for his encouragement. May the Lord help me to better know how to spark up conversations there – I need his help.

Blu Mar Ten - Believe Me - BMT 002 “Believe Me” is the second single from the forthcomin

Blu Mar Ten - Believe Me - BMT 002

“Believe Me” is the second single from the forthcoming Blu Mar Ten all-drum-and-bass album. This single follows the similar dual format as the last, with two tracks on the very limited edition vinyl 12″ with lovely artwork courtesy of ithinkitsnice, and a third bonus track available only as a download.

DJ support has been provided from some of the biggest names in the drum & bass scene: Marky, London Elektricity, Doc Scott, Teebee, Hype, Spectrasoul, Makoto, Apex, SPY, Craggz, DKay, Seba, Loxy, Ink, Lynx, Instra:mental, John B, ASC, Nerm & Dcode, Randomer and many others.

The title track “Believe Me” kicks off with swirling melodies and some no-nonsense punchy drums which wouldn’t sound out of place in the next Commix single , growing slowly before the bassline kicks in…. Some lovely Steve Reich-style chimes kick in shortly before the vocal from a long-deceased pop star appears, giving the track it’s title and a memorable hook.

The AA Site, “Made Of Air”, has the classic Blu Mar Ten sound, reminiscent of their highly-detailed work on the Everglades EP from a long time ago… The listener is immediately bombarded with tons & tons of sounds & textures from the very start. A dusty piano gives the track a real cinematic edge, and the general tone and atmosphere of the track really highlights the fact that these chaps have spent many years forging their own unique sound.

As per the last single, they decide to make the best track, “Overwhelm” a download-only exclusive. The track draws you from the very beginning with a beautiful keyboard line & crisp electronic drums, before a bassline reminiscent of their excellent “2046″ rumbles it’s way into your subconscious.

A genuinely interesting single that further blurs the distinction between drum & bass & electronic music in it’s purest form. Well worth checking out.

I spent my first Friday morning with John Bell (Pastor of New City Baptist Church) at the gay village. John is gifted in his ability to spread the gospel to gay men. He has been building friendships and spreading the Gospel there for a little while now. He goes to coffee shops where he builds friendships with men and tells them the Gospel when the time is ripe. He goes to a particular coffee shop twice a week. Since the setting is so close, one of the keys is simply to go in and sit down and be friendly. He told me that it can be hit and miss. Sometimes he will go and there will be no open doors for natural conversations to get going.

John is mentoring me in this style of evangelism. I am eager (yet nervous) as I learn. I hung out in two different coffee shops yesterday morning, but I was unable to strike up any conversations. Please pray for John and I that the Lord will help us in these efforts to reach fellow sinners with the love of Christ. Let us thank the Lord for John and his desire to train others concerning how to reach out to the gay community in Toronto.

10 years ago drum-n-bass lost an angel when a cat’s eye flew threw the windshield of a car and instantly killed Kemistry. As a founding member of the seminal Metalheadz label, Kemistry was well known within the jungle community as a skilled producer and dj. In memory of her, DOA recently decided to provide her final mix with DJ Storm as a free download. If you miss drum-n-bass from the late 90s, then this mix is for you with massive hits from the likes of Dom & Roland, DJ Die, Jonny L, and John B.

The single "Close"; Released today on vinyl or digital download.

So, the Camden trio have returned to their drum & bass roots; It’s fair to say that drum & bass has gone through a bit of a renaissance in recent months, and this release has been perfectly timed to compliment that….

Starting with “Close”, which wouldn’t sound out of place on Virus; it’s harsh, distorted, heavily processed pulp fiction / model 500 break slaps you pretty hard in the face, before the angry, growling bassline kicks in…designed specifically with the dancefloor in mind, and clearly working, with DJ support from the likes of Marky, Ed Rush, Utah Jazz, Logistics, D Bridge, Instra:mental, Data, Ink, London Elektricity, Nerm & D-Kode, Annie Nightingale, Crissy Criss, Mosus, Furney, SPY, A Sides, Tom Middleton, ASC, Kubiks & Lomax, Marcus Intalex, John B, Alleycat, Big Bud and many others….

“Above Words” is classic, meloncholy bmt at their best; production standards at an all time high, and intricate electronic beat programming that wouldn’t sound out-of-place on the next Instra:Mental single; but the swirling melodies and ultra-clean reece bassline probably push them just that bit beyond other producers in the scene.

Finally, they decided to test the waters with the digital-only exclusive track, “If I could Tell You”. Assumably considered the wildcard of the release, beautiful pads and arpeggios kick the track off before the stabbing synth bassline hooks you straight in; Perfectly placed male vocals add a lot of emotion to the track, and half-stepping electronic drums, mixed with some expertly timed tablas really highlight the trio’s precise attention to detail. A truly original, fresh drum & bass track.

If this is merely a taster of what the forthcoming all drum & bass album from BMT is going to sound like, then we are surely in for a treat; the vast amount of man hours that must have gone into writing these tracks are so obvious when you listen to a release like this; this is the sort of release that should make most rookie bedroom producers wonder what on earth they’re doing even trying to compete!!!…

why are agencies so compelled to put twins together? & are they helping or making things more difficult for twin siblings to work as independent models in the industry? a few months ago i was reading jdvision & i seen some photos of boys from NYC. i thought they were just dudes off the street but i saved one image of two guys i thought had a good look. fast forward to today, looking at show packages via models.com; i somehow stumbled upon the request modeling agency blog. i swear my blog listing gets additions everyday. so, of course, going along i seen editorial images of the two guys that i seen.

i was really excited because the dudes i thought were just regular dudes are models. & yes, they are twins. i really like their look & the bone structure they both have is a good look for a lot of different opportunities with editorial photography. as of late, i have been knowing alot of male models from major model management- thanks to their official coverage or the gigs their models book. i love this portion of the season where all the show packages are coming out because then you really get a sense of whose who. milan`s mens fashion week is underway & soon im hoping i will get my hands on some runway images. im sure i will manage to provide proper coverage.

It keeps snowing and I keep whining about it and my car continues to stay on the side street, not moved, surrounded by feet of snow. LOL. Today though, I will attack it. I will rescue my car from the snow fortress. It’s gonna take a bunch of digging and a bunch of time but I am prepared.

You can obviously tell that nothing overly exciting is happening in my life at the mo or I wouldn’t be talking to you everyday about the snow.

Tunes:
Atom – Excursion (track is in player)
I’m super into Atom these days. I like this track and I also love Breathe In which I heard on Aaron Jay’s Influence Records podcast #1.

Today’s Oldie:
John B – (Salsa) Brazil – Formation 1998
I don’t like this track stand alone. I do love it in the mix though. It’s fun to play with. Formation country series… sigh, it’s very strange to think how obsessed with Formation I was seeing as I don’t think I’ve bought a Formation record in like 6 or 7 years. There are a lot of old awesome classics on that label though. Nice.

Peyo – Exclusive Mix for Influenza Media Jan ‘09
