Five Thing To Make TNA Better

Written By John P. Mayer

I have been a fan of wrestling now for over 25 years. I have watched thousands of hours of old and new wrestling I can honestly say I think I know what I am talking about. TNA has been around now for nine years and they have had some great moments. But lately they have been failing to live up to there standards. I like TNA but they need some help and here are some things that I would do if it was me that was in charge.

1. BRING BACK THE SIX SIDED RING

When TNA first debuted on Spike they were known for having the six sided ring which to me made the company unique. Every year the Lockdown pay per view was beyond amazing with the Six Sides Of Steel. Ever since Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff came to the company they brought back a regular four sided ring which I have seen everywhere. I remember watching Elix Skipper walk the top of the six sided cage and I was truly amazed. That is something I want to see again. Maybe not the walking of the cage but something amazing along those lines.

2. BRING BACK THE KING OF THE MOUNTAIN MATCH

When TNA first debut a Reverse Ladder Match with a penalty box I was caught off guard. Then after I watched some of the older matches I really liked the concept. Once again once Hogan and Bischoff came in and took away this match. I truly think they do not care what us fans think they just care about money. This match was the main attraction for there Slammiversary pay per view and now it is gone. They need to bring this back if they knew what was smart.

3. STOP HIRING OLD WWE WRESTLERS AND FOCUS ON THERE OWN HOME GROWN TALENT

Can someone please explain to me why Kurt Angle is the TNA World Heavyweight Champion when you have wrestlers like AJ Styles, Bobby Roode, James Storm, and Samoa Joe? TNA has always pushed former WWE stars ever since they came on Spike TV in an attempt to compete with the WWE. NEWS FLASH!! TNA has some of the best wrestlers in the world yet they tend to push Angle, Matt Morgan, Bully Ray, Ken Anderson, and former WCW star Sting. With Bound For Glory coming up I am hoping and praying for a change of guard.

4. GET RID OF HOGAN AND BISCHOFF

When Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff came to TNA last year I for one was not happy about it as I remember what Bischoff did to WCW before Vince McMahon bought them. And what’s the first thing they do when they get to TNA? They bring in there friends The Nasty Boys, Bubba The Love Spounge, and Val Venis. EARTH TO HOGAN AND BISCHOFF those guys were popular in the 90′s not in 2010. Bischoff ruined WCW and I feel he is doing the same to TNA.

5. HIRE PAUL HEYMAN

I’m going to keep this one short and sweet. If you remember ECW you will agree with me on this one.

If TNA were to do these five things then they would not have to worry about Ring Of Honor and become a better company in my opinion. As always this is my opinion and if you care to disagree that is your choice. Please feel free to discuss this with me as I always enjoy the input from my fans.

Make Me A Superstar: WWE Superstars Review

Written By John P. Mayer

Welcome everyone to the debut of Make Me A Superstar I am J.P. Mayer. I’ve always liked WWE Superstars because they like to give time to the matches. This will be a weekly column by me and I hope you enjoy.

MATCH 1: ALEX RILEY DEF JTG

Remember when Alex Riley was on pay per view beating The Miz? Seems like that was ages ago but now being on Superstars more he does not need to get caught up in the shuffle of all the other top faces. As for JTG he should have been wished well in his future endeavors a long time ago as he has just been a jobber and this match was the same. I was a bit surprised when JTG kicked out of Riley’s Elevated DDT finisher but fell victim to the A-Bomb. I see big things for Alex Riley as he is the future of the WWE.

Up next they show the ending to Hell In A Cell when Miz and Truth destroyed everyone from the wrestlers to the referees and cameramen.

I will talk more about this on my YouTube Show.

MATCH 2: MICHAEL McGILLICUTTY DEF PERCY WATSON

If you guys watch NXT you know that both of these guys were rookies on the show. At least now Percy isn’t wearing those dumb glasses anymore. It is nice to see McGillicutty on his own so he can showcase his talents without having others hold him down. This was an excellent match with both men showing great athletic ability. The end came when McGillicutty put his knees up to block a twisting splash by Watson which led to the McGillicutter for the three count.

MATCH 3: AJ DEF TAMINA

AJ may not be the biggest diva out there but she has some spunk and she showed it in this match with Tamina. Tamina used her power early in an attempt to keep AJ down but the spunkier kept fighting back. This match actually got more time then most Diva’s matches on RAW or Smackdown. Tamina missed a second rope splash which allowed AJ to hit a standing Sliced Bread to get the win. They should allow the Divas more time like this so they can show us that they are more then just beautiful women.

MATCH 4: TED DIBIASE DEF TYSON KIDD

This was a rematch from last week that Dibiase won. Dibiase seems to be fitting right in as a face and the fans seem to enjoy him. Quick match here with the big spot being Kidd hitting a spin kick outside the ring. Dibiase wins with Dream Street to go 2 for 2 against the man from Canada.

I’m not going to talk about the Vote of No Confidence and walk out here as I have a lot to say about it. This will be something I talk about on my web show this week. Until next time my friends, be safe.

Experience The Honor

Written By John P. Mayer

Welcome to Experience The Honor. This week we will see the ROH Television Title as Jay Lethal challenges El Generico. Jim Cornette is in the ring and brings out the Tag Team Champs, Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team. Cornette has said that based on the attack by The Briscoe Brothers at Best In The World that The Briscoe’s were fined $5,000 and would not receive a ROH Tag Title Shot which meant Haas and Benjamin would not be able to get there revenge. Well the champs were none to happy about that and said they would give the Briscoe’s a shot at the titles just to get there hands on them.

We get a profile on “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett. He is his own number one fan and cannot shut up about himself. His trainer Brutal Bob looks like he’s older then dirt. According to Bennett he is not only a movie star but a great wrestler. Sorry Mike you aint that good my friend. Now on to the first match of the show.

“THE PRODIGY” MIKE BENNETT (WITH BRUTAL BOB) DEF. JIMMY JACOBS (WITH STEVE CARINO)

This was my first time seeing both man wrestle and I was quite impressed with Jacobs. He hit Bennett with a springboard Ace Crusher. This was a quick six minute match that Bennett won after Jacobs missed a Senton then Bennett hit the Box Office Smash for the win. After the match, Bennett mocked the Code of Honor when he rubbed Steve Carino’s head while giving Jacobs a half assed handshake.

Now Eddie Edwards tells us how he got the nickname “Die Hard”. He was in a street fight when he dove through the ropes and landed on his elbow breaking it. The very next day instead of going for surgery which he needed; he defended the ROH Tag Titles with partner Davey Richards in a brutal Ladder Match. I don’t know if I should call that guts or crazy but I call that dedication.

Next week on ROH, the World Title is on the line as champion Davey Richards defends against former champion Roderick Strong. I do not expect the pre match handshake in this match. Now it’s time for the main event.

FOR THE RING OF HONOR TELEVISION TITLE: JAY LETHAL DEF EL GENERICO(C) IN OVERTIME

What a match between these two warriors. These guys went back and forth for the entire 15 minute time limit. At the end of the time limit the crowd chanted 5 MORE MINUTES. Only problem was there was less then 5 minutes left in the show so Cornette gave them 3 and that is where Jay Lethal took advantage. After Lethal blocked Genrico’s Yakuza kick with a kick of his own he finished Generico with the Lethal Injection with only a couple of seconds left on the clock.

Next week we get Richards and Strong in what could be a match of the year contender. Until then thank you for Experiencing The Honor with me.

I will see you all next week.

WWE Hell In A Cell 2011 Predictions

Written By Billy James, Andrew B. and John P. Mayer

It’s the third annual Hell in a Cell PPV and it looks like we’ve got a great main event. For the first time the WWE title will be defended in a triple threat Hell in a Cell match as it will be featuring John Cena vs. CM Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio. For the Smackdown main event it’s a rematch from Night of Champions as the new World Heavyweight Champion, Mark Henry defends the title against former champion, Randy Orton in a Hell in a Cell match. Also Sheamus goes one on one against Christian while Beth Phoenix challenges Kelly Kelly for a third time for the WWE Divas Championships. So let’s break it down and take a look at each match on the card. My predictions will be in regular type while Andrew’s predictions will be bold and John’s predictions will be in italic.

Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger vs. Air Boom (WWE Tag Team Championship Match)

This match was added at the last minute which sucks as it should be great if given enough time. Air Boom has been having great success as a tag team with Bourne andKingston’s wrestling styles blending perfectly together. Air Boom has to walk away with the tag team title as their title reign is bringing meaning back to the WWE Tag Team titles.

Billy’s Predicted winners and still WWE Tag Team Champions: Air Boom

This match was added after Swagger made Bourne tap out on SmackDown. There has not been much build-up for this match as we just had Night of Champions two weeks ago. Swagger and Ziggler have an upside relationship as a team however I feel that Dolph should be main evening not opening pay per views as I think this will be the opener. I see the more established team in Air Boom retain here.

John’s Predicted winners: AIR BOOM

Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara

Finally we see Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara or as I like to call them Earth 2 Sin Cara vs. Earth Sin Cara. At least we’ll be able to tell them apart during the match with the different color ring attire. We should get a good high flying match assuming that there are no botches during the match. Who’s going to win, I think that evil is going to win as the PPV is called Hell in a Cell.

Billy’s Predicted winner: Sin Cara (Black)

If this match gets ten minutes it can be very good and similar to the classic WWE and WCW Cruiserweight matches. I expect a ton of high flying moves and unbelievable things. I think that in the end the bad Sin Cara will pick up the winning by cheating, probably grabbing the tights to get the pin fall.

Andrew’s Predicted winner: Bad Sin Cara (Black)

Thank God they changed the heel Sin Cara’s colors because I was getting confused. The original Sin Cara is in the blue and Hunico is the one in black. This match is the most interesting to me as this will be the first time these two wrestle here in the WWE. Expect a lot of risk taking by both men and hopefully no botches as this is live tv. This is a tough match to predict in my opinion. I think the blue Cara will win and keep the Sin Cara gimmick.

John’s Predicted winner: Sin Cara (Blue)

Beth Phoenix vs. Kelly Kelly (WWE Divas Championship Match)

I must say I thought Beth was going to win the title at Summerslam but then I thought about it and I can understand the booking. Kelly winning was a shocker and that was good booking but then the good booking stopped last month in Buffalo at Night Of Champions. Everyone thought Beth was going to win in her hometown but for some reason she did not, and I do not know why. It makes no sense and if Kelly wins again at Hell In A Cell then there really is a problem with the booking. I am going with Beth to win because if she does not then some writer should be fired.

Andrew’s Predicted winner: Beth Phoenix wins the Divas title

It’s round three and most likely Beth’s last chance to win the Divas title. While I’m not the Kelly fan, I have to admit that she’s had a great run with the title and made it mean something. With that said, Beth needs and should leave with the Divas title around her waist. If Beth looses again to Kelly then the Divas of Doom will mean nothing. The one thing that I definitely don’t want to see in this match is Eve getting involved but we know that she’s going to be involved in the match. WWE management might as well make it a four way for the Divas title. On the other hand, that’s how Eve won the title the last time. I’m going with the long shot and saying that thePhoenixwill rise with the Divas title at Hell in a Cell.

Billy’s Predicted winner and new WWE Divas Champion: Beth Phoenix

Has Kelly really beaten Beth on two straight pay per views? Maybe I should stop picking the better all around wrestler and pick the eye candy. Or then again I do not think lighting will strike a third time in this feud. I expect another good match between these two but sadly for Kelly her dream run with the Divas Title will be over and Beth will finally win the title.

John’s Predicted winner: Beth Phoenix

Sheamus vs. Christian

This match should steal the show as both guys have been two of the top guys on SmackDown. Christian has cost Sheamus the Intercontinental Championship on both Raw and SmackDown this week and the great white redhead is looking for some revenge. This will be a back and forth match with a lot of near falls. In the end Sheamus will get his hand raised in victory as I do not see this feud ending anytime soon.

John’s Predicted: Sheamus

This was the hardest match for me to predict because both men are hot on SmackDown now. Christian recently lost the world title was Sheamus has been a great face. So I can see this match going either way but due to the recent actions of Christian I can see this match ending by count out with Sheamus standing tall as Christian runs away.

Andrew’s Predicted winner: Sheamus by count out

This should be a good match as Sheamus is getting over as a face, something that I thought he couldn’t do. Christian is going full gear as a heel and is a great opponent for Sheamus as Christian is such a workhorse in the ring. So far WWE management has done a great job in building this feud which this will most likely be the first PPV match in the feud. I think in order for the feud to really work, Christian needs to work out with the win. However I think that Christian will pop some sneaky moves to win.

Billy’s Predicted winner: Christian

Randy Orton vs. Mark Henry (World Heavyweight Championship; Hell in a Cell Match)

I must say Henry winning the title was a shocker to me and I think it was the smart choice but now things are different. Leading up to night Of Champions Henry was dominated but recently SmackDown has been ending with Orton getting the upper hand on Henry. Does that mean Henry will drop the title? I hope not. I think it would be smart to give Henry a decent reign similar to Kane’s final reign last year that was five months long. At least let Henry holds the title until the Royal Rumble but as for this match I think Henry will leave New Orleans as champion.

Andrew’s Predicted winner: Mark Henry retains the World Heavyweight Championship

Who would have thought three months ago that we’d be saying Mark Henry; the World Heavyweight Champion? Well we’re saying it now! Mark Henry has been on a roll as a monster heel who has been destroying opponents left and right. Randy has been the top face of SmackDown since Edge was forced to retire and to be second to John Cena in the pecking order for booking. I will say that I’m glad that Mark Henry is getting this title rung and hopefully he makes the most of it. I’m looking for the World’s Strongest Man to leave Hell in a Cell with the World title still in his hands.

Billy’s Predicted winner and still World Heavyweight Champion: Mark Henry

This match is perfect for these two animals. Mark Henry has taken out The Big Show, Kane, and now The Great Khali and inducted them into the Hall Of Pain and has said that Randy Orton is the next to join. Orton was unable to RKO the big man at Night of Champions but finally hit the move on SmackDown. Also Randy has the experience factor as this will be his forth HIAC opposed to Henry who is entering his first. I expect a brutal match with the ring steps and maybe some chairs being used. I think that Mark Henry will retain here. He has busted his ass for 15 years in the WWE and now he is getting the respect he deserves.

John’s Predicted winner: Mark Henry

Alberto Del Rio vs. CM Punk vs. John Cena (WWE Championship; Triple Threat Hell in a Cell Match)

This is the match that anyone who that is buying the PPV wants to see. Being billed as the first ever triple threat Hell in a Cell match, WWE couldn’t have picked no better three men for this match thenDel Rio, Punk and Cena. We all know that Punk and Cena can put on a great match and Hell in a Cell will make it even better. The wild element in this match isDel Rio.Del Riohas never been in a Hell in a Cell match so howDel Riowill perform in this instance is a mystery. I think becauseDel Riohas never been in a Hell in a Cell match that he has the advantage as he’s fresh. I think we’ll see a certain person walk out as the new WWE Champion as it’s his destiny.

Billy’s Predicted winner and new WWE Champion: Alberto Del Rio

I must say this sadly as a CM Punk fan I feel his level of excitement from the summer has dropped and it is not as good as from the summer. As for the match I find triple threat matches very exciting so inside a Hell In A Cell this match can be a classic. I do not see any other outcome sadly other then Cena leaving with the title even though it would be nice to see Punk win the title again.

Andrew’s Predicted winner: John Cena still WWE Champion

Can someone please tell me why John Cena has the WWE Title again? Personally I am getting sick and tired of seeing him with the belt. It is time for some fresh blood to be on top. Seeing Punk and Del Rio with the titles was a refreshing change. As much as I would love to see Cena lose here I do not see that happening as Cena is the company golden boy. I expect some interference from the fired Kevin Nash, The Miz, and R-Truth and possibly Triple H. But in the end Cena walks out as the champion still and I keep praying for a miracle.

John’s Predicted Winner: John Cena

Well, Hell in a Cell should be good despite being put together in a short time. I sure that we won’t be disappointed by the main event some of the other matches on the card. I want to thank John and Andrew for joining me on the preview for Hell in a Cell. We’ll be back in a few weeks for the TNA Bound for Glory PPV preview.

Experience The Honor

Written by John p. Mayer

*** Note, John P Mayer is going to be covering Ring of Honor for the site. Please give it a read and let John know how you like it.***

The first Ring of Honor show on the Sinclair Broadcasting Network is in the books and I must say it was worth the wait. Kevin Kelly is in the ring and he introduces us to his new broadcast partner and its none other then Nigel McGuinness who is making his return to the company after leaving in late 2009. From there they go to pre taped interviews from both tag teams who are competing in the first match. The teams are Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly who call themselves Future Shock and their opposition are The Bravados Harlem and Lancelot. Both teams talk about bring the future and winning the tag titles. Excellent opening segment.

MATCH 1: FUTURE SHOCK DEFEATS THE BRAVADOS

So this is what tag team wrestling with two established teams looks like. I must say I like it. I also like the Code Of Honor handshake at the start of the match. This was a solid seven and a half minute match which featured some nice double team moves. One move I liked was the belly to back suplex/neckbreaker combo by the Bravados. The finish came when Future Shock hit there Ride The Lighting hi/low finisher for the victory. Excellent opening match by both teams.

After the first match they showed some highlights from there Best In The World pay per view which saw Davey Richards defeat his American Wolf partner Eddie Edwards for the ROH World Title and Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team retain the ROH Tag Titles in a four corner elimination match against The All Night Express (Kenny King/Rhett Titus) Mark and Jay Briscoe and The Kings Of Wrestling (Chris Hero/Claudio Castagnoli). One thing Ring Of Honor does better then any wrestling company and that is tag team wrestling.

Before they started the main event Jim Cornette explained to us what the Code Of Honor was. The Code of Honor is not mandatory it is a show of respect by shaking hands before and after the match. They also announced that on next weeks show Jay Lethal will wrestle for the ROH Television Title against champion El Generico. That should be an amazing match.

MATCH 2: WRESTLING’S GREATEST TAG TEAM DEFEATS THE KINGS OF WRESTLING TO RETAIN THE ROH TAG TEAM TITLES

Holy Shit two excellent tag matches in one show. Hope the WWE and TNA were taking notes. No code of honor before the match which is no big deal. These teams have wrestled before and have stolen the show every time and this was no different. Awesome back and forth action with a lot of near falls. The end came when Chris Hero got caught in Wrestling’s Greatest Finisher spinebuster lariat finisher. It is a shame that The Kings are on there way to the WWE because the tag division is so much better in ROH then anywhere else.

This was an excellent return to TV for Ring of Honor. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next. I give this weeks show a 7.5 out of 10. They did only have two matches but they were quality matches so that’s the reason for the high rating. I cannot wait to Experience The Honor with you all next week. Until then my friends be safe.

Written by Billy James and John P. Mayer

Welcome to the TNA Hardcore Justice PPV predictions. I’m Simply Sensational Billy James along with John P. Mayer bringing you predictions for this Sunday’s TNA Hardcore Justice predictions. Well this TNA PPV is going to be an ok PPV with a few interesting matches and five Championship matches. First we have Kurt Angle challenging the crazed “Joker” Sting for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Also Beer Money defends the TNA Tag Team titles against Mexican America. Brian Kendrick in his first PPV title defense will defend the TNA X Division title in triple threat match against Alex Shelley and Austin Aries. Winter will challenge Mickie James for the TNA Knockouts title. Just added to the card, Mexican America members; Sarita and Rosita get their rematch against Tara and Ms. Tessmacher for the TNA Knockouts Tag Team titles. So let’s get down to it and take look at each match on the card. My predictions will be in regular type and John’s predictions will be in italic. The TNA facts will be in bold and italic.

Mexican America (Sarita & Rosita) vs. Tara & Ms. Tessmacher (TNA Knockouts Tag Team Match)

I’m surprised that this match was added at the last minute as there’re already eight matches on the card. I do think that it’s great that the Knockouts are getting two matches on the card. I find the tag team combination of Tara and Ms. Tessmacher interesting as I think that they have great chemistry plus the fact how Ms. Tessmacher has improved in the ring. Now Sarita and Rosita have already proven that they have great chemistry plus the fact Sarita is the best Knockouts heel that TNA has. A part of me wants to see Sarita and Rosita regain the Knockouts Tag Team title but I also want to see Sarita challenge Mickie for the Knockouts title. Also I think that it would be a bag idea to take the Knockouts Tag Team titles off of Tara and Ms. Tessmacher so soon. I hope that TNA at least give these Knockouts five minutes or more for this match. I look for Tara and Ms. Tessmacher leaving Hardcore Justice with the Knockouts Tag team belts.

Billy’s Predicted Winners and still TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions: Tara & Ms. Tessmacher

KNOCKOUT TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: SARITA AND ROSITA VS MISS TESSMACHER AND TARA (c)

Another reason I like the Knockouts is they can wear whatever they want and Miss Tessmacher sure leaves little room for error there. She has also improved in the ring and with Tara as her partner they have been a great team. Rosita and Sarita have that Mexican temper and in my opinion are two of the best female wrestlers in the world. Sarita has been bothered by facial paralysis and is wearing a mask. I am not sure how that is affecting her in ring ability but I am expecting another great match. I think the champs will retain here while Sarita continues to recover.

John’s Predicted Winners: TARA AND MISS TESSMACHER

TNA Fact: Sarita was the first TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champion along with her partner at the time; Taylor Wilde.

“The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero vs. Devon (Bound for Glory Series Match)

This match will most likely be the weak match on the card. I understand that this is a Bound for Glory Series match but I think that this match could be done on Impact Wrestling and the time used for a match like a number #1 contender’s match for either the TNA X Division title or TNA Tag Team titles. Plus there has been no real built up to a feud between the Pope and Devon. Yes, I know that TNA has been building the feud on TNA Xplosion but it doesn’t air in the US so there’s no real build up for the US fans. The bottom line for me is that I really don’t care who wins which is a shame as the Pope is a very good wrestler. Maybe TNA should use the Pope in the X Division similar to how Samoa Joe was used in the X Division. Anyway, I look for the Pope to win to a distraction by Devon’s boys to get the seven points which will get the Pope his first points in the series.

Billy’s Predicted Winner: “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero

BOUND FOR GLORY SERIES MATCH: THE POPE VS DEVON

This match is not only for points but it is for a man defending his family. Time after time Devon has asked The Pope to stay away from his kids yet he still does. Devon is near the top of the BFG rankings while Pope is near the bottom so the points would help Pope more. This is one of those toss up matches in my opinion as both wrestlers have been pretty sharp lately. I think Pope is going to squeak a victory out here with the help of Devon’s sons.

John’s Predicted Winner: THE POPE

TNA Fact: “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero has scored 10 points so far in the Bound for Glory Series.

Rob Van Dam vs. Crimson (Bound for Glory Series Match)

While this match is not an actual feud, it is interesting as Crimson is in the lead in the Bound for Glory series and RVD is right behind Crimson. Crimson is really impressive when he’s in the ring with a quality opponent which I think RVD is. I personally think TNA has done a decent job pushing Crimson and I think could be the future of TNA as a home grown talent. The question is will RVD put Crimson over as Hardcore Justice. I think that Crimson will walk away with the seven points and still in the lead in the Bound for Glory series.

Billy’s Predicted Winner: Crimson

BOUND FOR GLORY SERIES MATCH: ROB VAN DAM VS CRIMSON

Ever since Crimson came to TNA he has not tasted defeat and is number one in the BFG rankings. Rob Van Dam with his win last night on IMPACT is now number two. This could be the match of the night next to the main event. Van Dam can beat you on the ground or through the air while Crimson is more of a ground and pound guy. This is another match that can go either way but in the end i see Crimson staying undefeated and basically sealing a spot in the four corners match next month.

John’s Predicted Winner: CRIMSON

TNA Fact: Rob Van Dam is a former TNA World Heavyweight Champion

Alex Shelley vs. Austin Aries vs. Brian Kendrick (Triple Threat X Division Championship Match)

This should be a good match at least a two star match as you have three very damn good X Division wrestlers especially Shelley and Aries. I think Aries is interesting as a heel and kind of reminds me of Randy Savage in his persona. I think Kendrick is good in the ring but I don’t think that he’s the one to build the X Division around. Shelley is a damn good X Division and is a former X Division Champion but I rather see Shelley stay in the tag team scene with Sabin as the Motor City Machine Guns and they will be TNA Tag Team Champions when Sabin returns from his injury. I look for a new TNA X Division Champion at Hardcore Justice.

Billy’s Predicted Winner and new TNA X Division: Austin Aries

THREE WAY MATCH FOR THE X DIVISION TITLE: ALEX SHELLEY VS AUSTIN ARIES VS BRIAN KENDRICK

This match will steal the show. Shelley and Kendrick had an amazing match on IMPACT which was ruined by Austin in the end. I’ve watched a lot of matches involving Austin Aries and I am impressed. He can beat you with a move from the top rope or with a brain buster. Shelley has been on top of his game for the last year or so in both the tag team division and singles. Kendrick may seem like he is out to lunch but in the ring he can hang with just about anyone. This match is going to be a spot fest to say the least. All three men deserve to win but I think Austin Aries will win and become the new X division champion.

John’s Predicted Winner: AUSTIN ARIES

TNA Fact: Alex Shelley defeated Chris Sabin in the finals of the TNA X Division Championship Tournament to win his first TNA X Division Championship.

Winter vs. Mickie James (TNA Knockouts Championship Match0

This one of the matches that I’m really looking forward to as anybody who knows me or read my reviews knows that I’m a huge Mickie James fan. I do think that Winter will be an interesting opponent for Mickie as the two have wrestled each other before in the WWE at Night of Champions where Mickie beat Winter then known as Katie Lea to retain the WWE Divas title One big factor in this match is Angelina Love. Will we see Angelina turn on Winter, interfere but cost Winter the title or help Winter to become the new TNA Knockouts Champion. However I don’t think that Hardcore Justice will be Winter’s night as I see Mickie leaving Hardcore Justice still the Knockouts Champion.

Billy’s Predicted Winner and still TNA Knockouts Champion: Mickie James

KNOCKOUT TITLE MATCH: WINTER VS MICKIE JAMES (c)

This is why I like TNA they have the best women’s wrestlers and actually give them time to wrestle unlike the WWE. Mickie has been on top of her game ever since winning the title at Lockdown. Winter however holds a non title victory over the champ and has the resources to defeat her again and win the title. Winter also has Angelina Love in her corner which could also play into her favor. I’m going to call an upset in this match and say Winter with Angelina’s help defeat Mickie to become the new Knockout’s Champion.

John’s Predicted Winner: WINTER

TNA Fact: Angelina Love has the most reigns as TNA Knockouts Champion with five reigns.

Bully Ray vs. Mr. Anderson

I kind of knew that this match was coming but I don’t think fans will really be into it. Yes, Bully Ray does get good heat as a singles heel but I don’t think he’s that good as TNA tries make out to be. Mr. Anderson has talent in the ring and he has charisma but his “Asshole” gimmick is getting old. I personally think that this will a decent match but not for a PPV. This match should be done on an edition of Impact Wrestling and build up the feud before doing a match on PPV. I look for Bully Ray to win due to interference.

Billy’s Predicted Winner: Bully Ray

MR.ANDERSON VS BULLY RAY

I like this match as it pits two members of Immortal against each other. Bully Ray has been quite impressive since breaking away from Devon however he likes to have other people do the dirty work. Ken Anderson has been on a downward spiral since joining Immortal including losing the World Heavyweight Title to Sting. I do not expect a lot of arm drags or headlocks in this match. Ray is more of a brawler then Anderson so in my books that gives him the advantage and the win. I’m also expecting Anderson to either leave Immortal or get the boot and start a feud with them.

John’s Predicted Winner: BULLY RAY

TNA Fact: Mr. Anderson is a former two times TNA World Heavyweight Champion.

Fortune (AJ Styles, Kazarian & Christopher Daniels) vs. Immortal (Gunner, Abyss & Scott Steiner)

I’m don’t know if this is going to be a good match as Steiner and Abyss as you have three of the best wrestlers on the TNA roster with Fortune. I do think that this will be a good match but not a great as Steiner is limited in what he can do in the ring. I just think its bad booking to have three of your best wrestlers in a match where two of their opponents are not on their level. I hoping that this match will be the beginning of the end of Immortal but I think that we’re going to see a heel turn at Hardcore Justice.

Billy’s Predicted Winners: Immortal (Gunner, Abyss & Scott Steiner)

SIX MAN TAG TEAM MATCH: FORTUNE(STYLES,DANIELS,KAZARIAN) VS IMMORTAL(ABYSS,GUNNER,STEINER)

Something does not seem right in the land of Fortune mainly between AJ Styles and Daniels. They had one hell of a match last month and now it seems like Daniels has been asking AJ for a rematch and will not take no for an answer. Immortal on the other hand seems to be on the same page and looking for revenge on Fortune after they got beat down a couple of weeks ago on IMPACT. I’m expecting a heel turn by Daniels on AJ during the match leading to a rematch next month. Immortal gets the win in this one as Gunner is the standout in this match leading into next month.

John’s Predicted Winners: IMMORTAL

TNA Fact: AJ Styles & Abyss are the only two Grand Slam Champions in TNA history

Mexican America vs. Beer Money (TNA Tag Team Championship Match)

This should be a highlight match as Beer Money can go against just about anybody and the Mexican America are definitely getting great heat are really the only true heel team for Beer Money to face. I think my main concern during this match is Hernandez as it’s been said that he has worked stiff in the past especially his singles match against Doug Williams. I have heard that TNA Management wants to push Roode as a singles wrestler so TNA might pull the trigger at Hardcore Justice. Even if TNA doesn’t make the spilt at Hardcore Justice, I still think we’ll see a title change at the PPV. On a side note, I hope that Salsa Mama; Sarita is there at ring side as I do expect some interference during this match

Billy’s Predicted Winners and new TNA Tag Team Champions: Mexican America

TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: BEER MONEY VS MEXICAN AMERICA

Another reason I like TNA is they actually like tag team wrestling and Beer Money is the best tag team in the world. Hernandez is no stranger to tag team wrestling as he was a part of LAX. Anarquia is a wild card as I do not know much about him. This should be another excellent match between the two teams and I expect a lot of action. Beer Money has held the titles since the beginning of the year and I do not expect that to change here. I hope that they can hold on to the titles for a year as we have not seen a year long title holder in a long time.

John’s Predicted Winners: BEER MONEY

TNA Fact: Beer Money are the longest reigning TNA Tag Team Champions in TNA history.

Kurt Angle vs. Sting (TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match)

This is not a bad main event match as we all know Angle can go and with the right opponent, Sting can go too. This should be one Sting’s better matches as Angle will be able to carry Sting through the match. Also Angle hasn’t been in the title for awhile so this sort of fresh to see Angle challenging for the TNA title. However with all that said, I look for Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff to interfere in this match. I hope that I’m wrong as I like to see a clean finish but Bischoff and Hogan just love booking the old interference angle. I think that we’ll see a new TNA Champion when everything is said and done.

Billy’s Winner and new TNA World Heavyweight Champion: Kurt Angle

TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: KURT ANGLE VS STING

I’ve been looking forward to this match since Angle became the number one contender to the title. Since Sting lost the title to Ken Anderson he has gone from the icon to the nut job yet he managed to regain the title just a couple of weeks ago. Ever since Kurt Angle came to TNA he has been at or near the top of the ladder. Both men are not afraid to take a chance in the ring and they have the scars to prove it. I expect a physical match with plenty of near falls and submission attempts from both men. I could see Immortal interfere here but I’m hoping it will remain one on one. My money is on Kurt Angle winning this match clean and the men shaking hands at the end of the match.

John’s Predicted Winner: KURT ANGLE

TNA Fact: Kurt Angle and Sting are tied for the most title reigns as TNA World Heavyweight Champion at four title reigns a piece.

Well from top to bottom, Hardcore Justice should be a decent PPV but I would recommend waiting for it on DVD. I hope that TNA proves me wrong but TNA really hasn’t hype this PPV like they should concerning that next weekend is Summerslam. I think the match of the night will be the triple threat match for the TNA X Division title. I want to thank John for helping me with the TNA Hardcore Predictions.
Written by Christian Michael and Staff

Welcome everyone to our Money in the Bank Preview. You may have already read my predictions on TJR but I figured I would throw them in here too. I’m joined by Andrew B, John P. Mayer and Billy James for this preview column. There is a lot of intrigue and interest going into this PPV. Sadly, this is a rare occurrence in WWE today. There’s plenty to read so I’ll stop yapping and get this started.

Divas Championship Match- Champion Kelly Kelly vs. Brie Bella

Billy James:

Anybody who knows me or has read my reviews know that I’m a big women’s wrestling but I’m really not looking forward to this match. Kelly Kelly the current WWE Diva Champion has been in the WWE since in 2006 but has never gotten to level in wrestling ability then say someone like Layla who has been in the WWE about the same amount of time. Brie Bella on the hand has improved in her wrestling ability but is no way near the level that Nikki Bella is. Personally I rather see Nikki face Kelly as I think that Nikki would be a better champion than Brie. I hate to say this but this match is going to be a bathroom break for most people, which is really sad as the WWE has great women wrestlers such as Beth Phoenix, Natalya, Melina and Gail Kim. I look for Kelly Kelly to walk out of Money in the Bank still the WWE Divas Champion.

Billy’s predicted winner and still WWE Divas Champion: Kelly Kelly

John P. Mayer

Here is our bathroom break match. While Kelly has improved in the ring neither her nor Brie have a lot of talent. Why can’t they have this match on Superstars instead of on a pay-per-view? I don’t expect much action in this match. I see Kelly Kelly winning here and hopefully moving on to a bigger and better challenge.

JOHN’S WINNER: KELLY KELLY

Andrew B.

It all started when Kelly Kelly won the title on Raw a few weeks back. Now the Bellas are trying to get the title back but Kelly has a friend in Eve watching her back. This match will probably at most get five minutes because nobody cares about the match they just want to see two sexy women in the ring. I see Kelly Kelly going over with help from Eve.

Andrew’s Predicted Winner: Kelly Kelly

Christian Michael

I get a whole 500 words to talk about this match! I’m so excited! Please read through the sarcasm people. Anyway, This will no doubt be slotted in after one of the Money in the Bank Matches so it gives the crowd a chance to calm down a bit. I think Kelly has really improved as a Diva in the last seven months or so. It’s sad that’s she still not a good wrestler. The Bellas bore me to be honest. They’re not even hot. I usually fast forward through their segments on RAW and since I can’t do that on a live PPV, I’ll probably see if I can pull out my own eyeball. I don’t see a title change here. The real pressing question is where are Natalya and Beth Phoenix?

Projected Winner and STILL Divas Champion- Kelly Kelly

Mark Henry vs. The Big Show

Billy James

I’m not totally interested in this match as I’m not a big fan of the Big Show or Mark Henry however I do find the heel turn of Mark Henry somewhat interesting. I think this is the first time that wrestling fans in general are taking Henry seriously as an actual threat. The Big Show’s problem is his size as for me, it’s hard for believe that someone like Rey Mysterio can beat the Big Show because of his size. However with Mark Henry and the way Henry is being pushed, I can believe that Henry can beta the Big Show. I think the match is going to end is a double disqualification as that I don’t this match is going to end the feud.

Billy’s predicted winner: None, Double Disqualification

John P. Mayer

Does anyone remember when Mark Henry was Sexual Chocolate and was trying to romance Mae Young? Well he has come a long way from those days and is now a monster. This is the way the WWE writers should have booked him from day one. Now don’t get me wrong Big Show is still one of the best big men in the history of the business but he hasn’t been nearly as dominant as Henry has been since the draft. This will not be a technical masterpiece or the match of the night. I am expecting a war and I also expect at least one ringside table to be broken. In the end Mark Henry will win this match and possibly go on to Summerslam to challenge for the World Heavyweight Title.

JOHN’S WINNER: MARK HENRY

Andrew B.

I must say that I really like the new Mark Henry & that bringing him to Smackdown to be a major heel was a good thing for his career. The rage he has been showing from throwing production guys to breaking steel cages to spearing Big Show off the stage has been good for him. Now this match will not be a classic like Undertaker vs. Triple H from Wrestlemania but they will get a decent time to make it a nice brawl. I would like to see Mark Henry go over to keep the push going to maybe a World Title Shot in the fall.

Andrew’s Predicted Winner: Mark Henry

Christian Michael

Normally, I dread these big man vs. big man matches because they are usually slow, plodding, boring matches. This one is no different. What, did you think I was going to say something different? I’ve actually enjoyed the way they’ve booked Mizark recently but in order for him to have a passable match he needs to face someone that can bump for him which Show cannot. Show is at the stage of his career where it seems he’s just there to put over whoever WWE wants to look strong. Henry is getting what probably will be his final big push but I doubt it ever leads to him wearing gold around his waist but for the time being he should pick up a clean win here since he is the big man holding Vince’s heart at the moment.

Projected Winner- Mark Henry

SmackDown Money in the Bank Ladder Match- Sin Cara vs. Heath Slater vs. Justin Gabriel vs. Kane vs. Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Daniel Bryan

Billy James

Money in the Bank says it all and this match will have some great moments in it for sure. Now if we use some logic here, I’m pretty sure that we won’t see Slater or Gabriel winning Money in the Bank as they are no way near being ready to be a main event level. Much as I like Daniel Bryan; I just don’t see the WWE pushing Bryan in the main event picture. Same goes for Sin Cara who I like but can’t stand the lighting used for his matches. You can go ahead and eliminate Kane as I just don’t see Kane getting another main event push. So that leaves Cody Rhodes, Wade Barrett and Sheamus. I think that out of the three, the one who needs it more is Wade Barrett. Barrett started out in 2010 as the leader of the Nexus only now to be stuck in the mid card level. Sheamus is already back in the main event picture while Cody Rhodes is well on his way to the main event picture. So with all that said, I look for Wade Barrett to walk out with the Money in the Bank briefcase this Sunday.

Billy’s predicted winner: Wade Barrett

John P. Mayer

This is the weaker of the two ladder matches with two people who do not deserve to be in match in the form of Slater and Gabriel. Wade Barrett needs to win this to prove to everyone that he doesn’t need to be in a group to be a success. Kane was in the first ever MITB and won last year which led to a six month title reign. Daniel Bryan and Sin Cara will bring the high flying spots along with Gabriel which will provide us with wonderful moments. Cody Rhodes is all set to rise to the occasion and be a main eventer which I feel he belongs as. As for Shaemus he has been up and down this year. He started the year on a losing streak then wins the US Title to lose it before going to Smackdown. Now he has the chance to win a shot at the champion whenever he chooses. This has been a tough one for me to pick but I think I’m going to go with Cody Rhodes here. I feel he is a main event waiting to happen and this will be his first step towards greatness.

JOHN’S WINNER: CODY RHODES

Andrew B.

Out of all the men Kane has the advantage being in four of these matches & winning one while Cody Rhodes has been in one. Sheamus has been in a ladder match before while Slater, Sin Cara, Gabriel, Bryan, Barrett have never been in ladder matches. I must say though why the hell is Heath Slater in here? I have no problem with Gabriel but Slater is horrible in the ring. DiBiase or even Tyson Kidd would be better than Slater. I do not see Slater or Gabriel winning because it would not make since while Kane & Sheamus do not need the push so I don’t see them winning. Cody has a chance of winning but I do not see it happening yet. Daniel Bryan winning would be nice but I do not see it happening while Sin Cara is too new to win the match. Wade Barrett winning would be nice because it would prove that he does not need a stable to become World Champion.

Andrew’s Predicted Winner: Wade Barrett

Christian Michael

Let me start off by saying that Heath Slater should never be in any match that is remotely associated to a World Title Match. Sin Cara and Justin Gabriel are just there to be the high flying bump machines of the match. Kane won last year and I don’t see him winning again. He’s acting as the veteran threat in this match. I know a lot of people that will start riots out of excitement if Daniel Bryan wins but I don’t think any local police departments have to worry. We should all be happy he’s having good matches on TV each week and that he’s on a PPV. I don’t know if WWE will ever elevate him past what he is not. That leaves us with three viable options to win: Sheamus, Barrett and Rhodes. Sheamus doesn’t need this match. He should be slotted into the World Championship Match as he’s got a beef with both those guys already. Regardless of who wins that match I think he’ll be the next contender anyway so I don’t think he wins here. Wade Barrett could win. He did well in his main event run last year and now that he’s out on his own WWE might give him the briefcase and build himself back up into a force while waiting for the right time to strike. Cody Rhodes was so ready for this leading into WrestleMania then I don’t know what happened. He just kind of fell flat after the feud with Rey Mysterio. WWE has had him score wins over Ezekiel Jackson so I’m thinking they could get him to the World Title through the Intercontinental Championship which is what they used to do in the old days and is the way it should be done. This one is much tougher to pick than the RAW match but I do see the former leader of Nexus grabbing the blue briefcase.

Projected Winner- Wade Barrett

RAW Money in the Bank Match- Rey Mysterio vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Alex Riley vs. R-Truth vs. The Miz vs. Evan Bourne vs. Jack Swagger vs. Alberto Del Rio

Christian Michael

Shelton Benjamin should call Evan Bourne and explain to him that it’s not a bad thing to be the “spot” guy in Ladder Matches. That’s what Evan has become. He’ll never win one of these but he’ll always be in them to “wow” us like Shelton did. Rey Mysterio falls into that veteran threat category. This match is designed to rocket a guy to the top which would fit the likes of Riley and Kofi. I don’t think Riley is ready yet and to be honest his spot should be taken by Dolph Ziggler who would have been my favorite had he been put in this match. Just like Bryan, I don’t think Kofi will ever become more than what he is. He should excite us with his athleticism though. R-Truth and Little Jimmy can enjoy life back in the midcard as I don’t see him winning here or even getting time to shine. That leaves Miz and Del Rio. WWE has gone with back to back winners of the Money in the Bank before with CM Punk. I think they could do it here with Miz. Miz needs some serious momentum back after being made to look like an idiot in his last two feuds. The man was on fire as WWE Champion then they job him out to Cena (what else is new?) and have him put over Riley twice. The thing that doesn’t make me say Del Rio is a slam dunk is that he won a Number One Contenders Match. Heading into SummerSlam he might use that as leverage for a title shot. Predicting this match would be so much easier if I knew whether Punk was staying or not.

Projected Winner- Alberto Del Rio

Andrew B

Riley is the only man in the match to never ever be in a ladder match at all. Miz & Swagger have won MITB while Kingston & Bourne are used to being in the match also. Del Rio & Mysterio have been in ladder matches just not MITB ladder matches. R Truth has never been in a WWE ladder match but in TNA he was in a few. Swagger & Miz already won it & even though you might say CM Punk won it twice neither won will win it on Sunday. Bourne, Mysterio & Kingston are in the match to thrill the crowd not win the match so forget them winning. Truth can not win the match because he is afraid of heights and the briefcase is about sixteen feet high. Riley has been getting a nice push lately and even teamed with Cena & Orton on a Raw main event but Alberto Del Rio needs this win. He was robbed of his title shot but I think if WWE does not let him win it would be okay because he could still complain on Raw & get the shot. I am going with Riley and after if he wins then he will Say It To Your Face.

Andrew’s Predicted Winner: Alex Riley

John P. Mayer

Besides the two title matches I think this match will steal the show as there are two former winners in Miz and Swagger. Alex Riley has made a name for himself since breaking away from Miz and defeating him twice in recent months. Mysterio is a former World Champion who was the victim last year of Kane cashing his match in after a title defense at last years pay-per-view so he knows how much this match can mean to him. Kofi is a MITB veteran who is knows for his big spots off the ladder. Evan Bourne is the same way. I have seen Bourne live and seeing the Shooting Star is a thing of beauty. Miz is on a bit of a slump since he lost the WWE Title. As the defending winner of this match he can use this match as a stepping stone as he did last year. Swagger won at Wrestlemania 26 then won the World Title but he never seemed like a main eventer. After being in a tag team with Michael Cole of all people things can only be looking up. Del Rio and Truth have been in the title scene as of late as Del Rio is the number one contender and Truth wrestled Cena last month for the title. I think any one of four men can win this but I am going to go with the man who won last year Miz. He needs his push back and needs to show everyone why he is awesome.

JOHN’S WINNER: THE MIZ

Billy James

Well you can’t go wrong with Money in the Bank ladder match and with the eight men in this match should make things interesting for sure. This match is a lot harder to pick a winner. I definitely don’t see Bourne or Riley winner as Bourne is too small in Vince McMahon’s eyes. Yes, I know that Rey Mysterio is the about the same size as Bourne but Mysterio is a bigger house whole name then Bourne. Now for riley, it comes down to not being ready to be a main eventer. I come from the old school of thought that talent should work some time in the mid card level before being thrust into the main event picture. It’s not Riley’s and he needs some high profile feuds before he’s ready for a major title run. Now here’s where it gets hard to pick a winner, as the other six men are fully capable of having a great run with the WWE title. I really don’t see Swagger winning as WWE management hasn’t been pushing Swagger even at a mid card level. The same goes for Kingston as WWE has never pulled the trigger to give Kingston a main event push. Mysterio and the Miz do not need the win as they are already considered be main event performers. It is possible that R-Truth could walk out with the briefcase but I don’t think it’s going to would. Even through Del Rio is technically the number #1 contender to the WWE title, I see Del Rio being the one walking away with the briefcase in this match for reasons that I’ll explained later in these predictions.

Billy’s predicted winner: Alberto Del Rio

World Heavyweight Championship Match- Champion Randy Orton vs. Christian

Christian Michael

As much as I have enjoyed watching these two wrestle, this is now their fourth one on one match. They needed to do something to spice it up a bit despite all of their previous matches going **** or above. I’m not interested in the stipulation they added that if Orton gets disqualified or if there’s another bad referee’s decision then Christian wins the title. They add that DQ stipulation and the Champion never loses that title that way. If you’ve been reading Smacked Up! then you know I’ve been harping on the idea that this should have been a Triple Threat Match this way Christian could sneak in and steal the pin on the third man. Christian needs this win to stay relevant as a main eventer. Four straight losses will just prove that WWE doesn’t see him as a top talent. I think the way this one goes is that Christian frustrates Orton to the point Orton wants to nail him with a chair or the title belt but the referee reminds him of the stipulation and when the referee takes away Orton’s foreign object Christian hits him with one to score the win and sets up the blowoff match at SummerSlam.

Projected Winner and NEW World Heavyweight Champion- Christian

Andrew B

I love this feud because every time these two fight it is a **** bout. I think after Orton won the last three times something will change. After a classic bout I would like to see Christian win and then they could have a final battle at Summerslam with Christian winning. At MITB, the world champion at the end will be the “Instant Classic.”

Andrew’s Predicted Winner: Christian Wins The Title

John P. Mayer

I’m hoping this is the last match between these two. While the previous matches have been great Christian has become a crybaby bitch and bringing lawyers in to fix his problems. So if the ref screws up again or Randy gets disqualified Christian becomes the new champion which in my opinion is bullshit. I do expect a great match yet again here hopefully without a bad call by the ref. I do see Randy Orton retaining here and moving on to a new challenge at Summerfest, oops Summerslam. Could Mark Henry or Cody Rhodes be the next in the path of a viper?

JOHN’S WINNER: RANDY ORTON

Billy James

Despite the fact that this is the third World title match between Randy Orton and Christian, it’s still going to be a good match. Christian and Orton seem to have good chemistry in the ring and their last match on PPV was great. Plus with the stipulation that if Orton gets disqualified or the referee makes a bad call then Christian automatically becomes the World Heavyweight makes this even more exciting. I’m going to out on a limb and say that Christian is going to walk out the new World Heavyweight Champion but the question is for how long?

Billy’s predicted winner and new World Heavyweight Champion: Christian

WWE Championship Match- Champion John Cena vs. CM Punk

Christian Michael

I would drop the $44.95 or whatever the hell my cable company charges now just to see this match. I have not been this excited for a WWE Championship Match since Stone Cold Steve Austin was involved in one. CM Punk on his last two appearances on RAW has proven why is the top talent in WWE. Cena can have a good match with the right opponent and I think Punk will get him to a near **** level. If you thought the crowd in Chicago hated Cena back at WrestleMania 22 then you haven’t seen anything yet. Holy cow, are they going to be hostile. Cena’s going to wish for the One Night Stand crowd during this match. There are so many intriguing elements to this match. Is Punk going to leave with the WWE Championship? Is Cena going to be “fired”? What will Vince McMahon do? The answers? I don’t know and I love that I don’t know. It’s going to make watching the match that much more enjoyable. I just can’t see Punk losing cleanly and riding off into the sunset. This is the start of something much bigger. Well, it will be if Vince McMahon doesn’t have his head shoved so far up his ass that he can see the back of his teeth.

Projected Winner and NEW WWE Champion- CM Punk

Andrew B

This is the most interesting singles bout in recent history & it proves that CM Punk is the man & can handle a main event. If it is the last night of CM Punk I will be so upset because I have been a fan of his since his SES days. I would have liked to see Vince McMahon add himself as the special ref to make it more interesting. In the end I can see Vince costing Punk the match to save Cena which could lead to Punk still being on TV even though his contract ends. I can bet any amount of money that the crowd will be crazy for this match.

Andrew’s Predicted Winner: John Cena Retains The Title

John P. Mayer

This is one of the more hyped title matches in a long time thanks to the comments made by the Chicago Made Punk. At Wrestlemania 22 which was in the same arena as this event John Cena got booed out of the building and I expect the same thing to happen this time as well. I am getting tired of seeing Cena with the title and I truly hope that Punk wins here so Cena can get “fired”. We all know that Cena is going nowhere as he has a match with that Dwayne guy at Wrestlemania 28. Something seems funny here with Punk and McMahon and Cena getting fired if he loses. I truly think that Punk is going to defeat Cena and win the WWE Title in his hometown.

JOHN’S WINNER: C.M. PUNK

Billy James

This is the match that everyone has been talking about the past two weeks. With CM Punk’s contract expiring after Money in the Bank, if Punk wins then he lefts with the WWE title. Punk has been stirring up a media buzz in the past three weeks and has proved over and over why he is the best on the mic. Look for Cena to get his ass booed as he enters enemy territory as Money in the Bank takes place in Chicago. I think that this will be Cena best match and Cena will pull out everything he’s got into this match as if he looses then Cena is fired. Yeah, I know how Cena being fired when the last time but its CM Punk that has fans interested in this match. I think that Punk is walking out of this match as the new WWE Champion,

Billy’s predicted winner and new WWE Champion: CM Punk.

Will a Money in the Bank Briefcase be cashed in during the PPV?

John P. Mayer

Yes, and this is where things will get interesting. As I predicted earlier Miz will win the RAW MITB match. While Punk is in the ring celebrating We will hear the music of Miz as he will do to Punk as Punk did to Edge and Jeff Hardy and that is cash in with a worn out opponent. With that I see The Miz walking out once again WWE Champion and Cena technically keeping his job since Punk didn’t leave with the belt.

Billy James

Yes, this is the surprise that I think will happen. After Punk wins the WWE title, Alberto Del Rio will cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase on Punk. Punk will be forced to defend the WWE title as he is under contract to the WWE until mid night. Del Rio makes Punk tap to the cross arm breaker and becomes the new WWE Champion

Christian Michael

Woo, woo, woo. You know it. Alberto Del Rio (or whoever wins the RAW Money in the Bank Match) will do so after the Cena/Punk match. I think it’ll be a little cheap to change the title twice in a matter of minutes but it would work so well. Del Rio finally realizes his destiny as he is brought out by Vince McMahon to ensure Punk won’t leave as Champion after a grueling match with Cena. Punk takes a month or two off and comes back refreshed and hell bent on getting revenge on Vince for screwing him. Punk would become the new version of Austin. Vince can come on RAW and say he had a plan in place to make sure Punk wouldn’t walk out as Champion because he had no faith in Cena to win. This begins an eventual heel turn for Cena because Vince can play up the fact the fans didn’t believe in Cena either. Having Punk win the title then lose it to the Money in the Bank winner keeps this feud hot for his return and keeps Cena from being “fired” because Punk didn’t leave with the gold.

I want to thank all of my great writers for adding their input into this preview. I will have a column up reacting to Money in the Bank after the PPV goes off the air. Be on the lookout for that. Until then, have a good weekend.

John Mayer of the Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction (CALI), has posted The Free Law Reporter – Open Access to the Law and Beyond, on the VoxPopuLII Blog, published by the Legal Information Institute at Cornell University Law School.

In this post, Mr. Mayer describes The Free Law Reporter, CALI’s new free and open database of decisions from U.S. federal and state courts, built using data from Public.Resource.Org‘s RECOP database. RECOP is a project of the Law.gov legal open government data movement.

Mr. Mayer underscores the ebook functionality of Free Law Reporter: the system allows users to automatically transform their Free Law Reporter search results into ebooks in the open EPUB format. These ebooks can be used as casebooks for law school courses, as well as in other applications.

The Free Law Reporter‘s ebook functionality complements CALI’s other legal open educational resource services, the eLangdell free and open digital casebook/textbook service, and the Legal Education Commons, where law professors share their instructional resources online.

Mr. Mayer’s post also discusses the principles underlying The Free Law Reporter. The first of these is the idea that law professors and law librarians should have the freedom to customize databases and course materials to meet the particular needs of their students and the particular objectives of their courses; as Mr. Mayer writes, “Academic law libraries should have free and open access to the law, access that allows them to define and construct the educational environment for law students.”

In addition, Mr. Mayer characterizes The Free Law Reporter as a generative resource, that can foster innovation, creativity, and collaborative effort among law professors, law librarians, and other members of the legal educational community.

Mr. Mayer’s post should be of interest to law professors, law librarians, legal information systems developers, continuing legal education providers, ebook technologists, and the open educational resources community.

Written by John P. Mayer

***Note from Christian*** My name is on the banner because I had planned on writing the preview with John. Unfortunately, I just didn’t have the time to. I worked over 50+ hours this week including being called in yesterday. I know the blog has suffered in lack of content this week, especially from me and I apologize for that. Now here’s the Over the Limit Preview with John.

SIN CARA VS CHAVO GUERRERO

This, in my opinion has the ability to be match of the night. This is Sin Cara’s first match on pay per view and if he performs like he has on Raw and SmackDown then we are all in for a treat. Chavo Guerrero won’t be a walk in the park that is for sure. This match should be a high flying affair with both wrestlers taking big risks. Cara goes into this match undefeated and I think he will walk out of this match undefeated but I can be assured that these 2 warriors will put on a show that the fans will talk about for a long time.

J.P.’S PREDICTION: SIN CARA

DIVA’S TITLE MATCH: BRIE BELLA (C) VS KELLY KELLY

Kelly Kelly has come a long way from Kelly’s Expose. As for Brie the only real thing she has going for her is she has a twin sister. I’m not expecting a long match here but I can see Kharma coming out to aid Kelly and help her get her first Divas Championship. In my opinion she deserves it as she is by far the most improved diva.

J.P’S PREDICTION: KELLY KELLY

REY MYSTERIO VS R-TRUTH

This will more than likely be the opening match of the card. Truth is showing us his cowardly side by attacking John Morrison and Mysterio from behind. Now Morrison is on the shelf for two months and Mysterio wants revenge. Truth in my opinion is a glorified jobber and even with this heel turn I do not see the WWE doing much with him until Morrison returns. As for this match I truly think this match is going to end in a no contest or Mysterio winning by DQ. I do not see Truth going over here or anytime in the near future.

J.P.’S PREDICTION: NO CONTEST

KISS MY FOOT MATCH FOR JERRY LAWLER’S HALL OF FAME RING: MICHAEL COLE VS JERRY “THE KING” LAWLER

This is the third straight pay per view that these two will be in the ring together and ever since there first match I was asking myself why they are putting this match on yet leaving other superstars like Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler off the card. Michael Cole has ZERO wrestling talent and needs to keep his boney little behind in his little Cole Mine. I expect Jack Swagger to finally turn on Cole and help The King keep his ring and make that tool Cole kiss his royal foot.

J.P.’S PREDICTION: JERRY LAWLER

WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: WADE BARRETT (C) VS EZEKIEL JACKSON

This match intrigues me. When The Corre first formed I expected them to run rough-shot on SmackDown as they did as Nexus on Raw. But now that Big Zeke has broken away from the pack he can be a big time player on SmackDown. Wade Barrett has been a player ever since he won season one of NXT. I’m not expecting a technical masterpiece here but I do expect a good quality fifteen minute match here. Zeke has come a long way from being the bodyguard for Brian Kendrick and I think this is his time to stand out and become the new champion.

J.P.’S PREDICTION: EZEKIEL JACKSON

WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: THE BIG SHOW & KANE (C) VS THE NEXUS(C.M.PUNK & MASON RYAN)

I’m a little surprised that it’s not Otunga and McGillicutty in this match as they just won a non-title match against the champs on Raw this past Monday. Mason Ryan is a beast and he will be a big star in the very near future. However he needs to break away from Nexus and stand out on his own. Show & Kane have been a force since winning the titles last month but had a setback on Raw. The WWE does not like to focus on tag team wrestling so it would not surprise me to see a title change here. However I’m going to go with my gut instinct here and go with the champs to retain.

J.P.’S PREDICTION: KANE & THE BIG SHOW

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: RANDY ORTON (C) VS CHRISTIAN

In my opinion Christian should be entering this match as the World Champion. Him losing the title after just two days is just wrong and I have been very vocal about that. I like Randy Orton and all but he has been champion before and while Christian held the NWA Title twice he never held the main title in the WWE. The match they had on SmackDown was one of the matches of the year so far and I expect nothing less in this match. I would love to see Christian get back the title he should have never of lost in the first place. However they brought Randy over to be the top face on SmackDown so I expect him to retain here and quite possible see a heel turn by Christian. This could be the start of a great feud between two top guys.

J.P.’S PREDICTION: RANDY ORTON

“I QUIT” MATCH FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP: JOHN CENA (C) VS THE MIZ

This has been a great feud and it is showing us that The Miz is in fact the top heel in the WWE and one of the top guys. John Cena has been and will continue to be the face of the WWE in the eyes of women and children. But to us male fans he’s really not that talented. It took hitting Miz with an AA from the top rope to defeat him at Extreme Rules and I think it is going to take a lot more to get him to say those dreaded words. Last year at this event it took setting Batista up for an AA from the hood of a car to get him to say I Quit. This match has the makings of being another great feud ender and I think the WWE is going to realize that they made a mistake by taking the title off of Miz and they will give it back to him when he makes Super Cena say “I QUIT!”

J.P.’S PREDICTION: THE MIZ

JP Around the Ring Written by John P Mayer Good afternoon everyone. Today I’m going to do some

JP Around the Ring

Written by John P Mayer

Good afternoon everyone. Today I’m going to do something different. As you know I usually do a weekly review. Well today I’m going to go over the top five stories in the wrestling world today. These are in no particular order.

1. CHRISTIAN WINS THEN LOSES THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE

If you guys read my Extreme Rules review you know I am a big fan of Christian and I was beyond excited when he finally grabbed the brass ring. It angered me when they took the belt off him quicker then he got it. Don’t get me wrong I like Randy Orton, but he has held the WWE and the World Title before. Christian on the other hand held the ECW Title which in my opinion doesn’t count because that was a watered down version of the original ECW. This could be an interesting feud going forward so long as one of them turns heel. In my opinion Christian should be the one to turn heel and hopefully sooner rather than later.

2. JOHN MORRISON INJURES NECK, OUT 6-8 WEEKS

John Morrison has become a main event player in the WWE. When I heard he had to have neck surgery I had thought he would be out for a year like Edge. Thankfully for him and for us fans he will only be out about 6-8 weeks. Thankfully for us now we won’t have to see this feud he was about to enter with R-Truth. I am a fan of John Morrison and I hope when he comes back he comes back better then ever. As for R-Truth I hope he falls back down the ladder to mid-card status.

3. WWE CELEBRATES THE ROCK’S BIRTHDAY

On the May 2nd edition of RAW The Rock had himself a nice big old birthday party. Throughout the night many celebrities came on and wished him a happy birthday as well as some of the wrestlers. For me the highlight of the night was when Rock dropped Michael The Tool Cole with a Rock Bottom then a People’s Elbow. In the backstage area John Cena crashed Rock’s party with his newly won WWE title telling the Rock to get some with Rock telling him to bring it. To end the night Vince McMahon came out and gave a heartfelt Thank You and showed us a video highlighting his career. After that Mya came out and sang Happy Birthday followed by confetti and pyro. For me this was one of the best segments on RAW in a long time.

4. JOHN CENA WINS WWE TITLE FOR 11TH WORLD TITLE REIGN

At Extreme Rules John Cena won the Triple Threat Steel Cage Match to become an 11 time World Champion. I’m sorry but I am NOT big on this move. In my opinion The Miz should have retained here and held the title until at least SummerSlam. I’m getting tired of seeing him with a title around his waist with his six moves in total. Now Cena is probably going to hold the title until next year’s WrestleMania when he will drop it to The Rock. This was a bad decision on the WWE’s part.

5. MICHAEL COLE AND JERRY LAWLER TO WRESTLE AGAIN

Dear WWE writers: STOP WASTING PAY PER VIEW TIME ON THESE 2!! Is Sin Cara going to have a match? Doubt it. How about Dolph Ziggler? Yeah OK. If the WWE thinks that having these 2 wrestle again on a pay per view is a waste of time and money. Michael Cole is a tool and after hearing him go off on Jerry’s deceased mother yet again makes me realize how much of a piece of shit he really is. And now this is for Lawler’s HOF ring. Do us a favor and TAKE THIS MATCH OFF THE CARD!!

Well that’s all for now. Let me know you guys like this different format. Until next time I will see you guys Around The Ring

Written by Andrew B and John P. Mayer

Welcome everyone to the Extreme Rules 2011 Review. JP Mayer & Andrew B are here to run down the event. Andrew B will run down the 1st two matches and JP will run down the rest of the card. Andrew B’s will be in Italics while JP will have regular font. This will not be a regular review, as we will give a description of the major stuff in the match but there will be no ratings. Now let’s stop wasting time and starting review the one night a year WWE goes extreme.

The event starts with a video package and our announcers are Booker T, Jerry Lawler & Josh Matthews.

Match 1: Randy Orton vs. CM Punk in a Last Man Standing Match:

I liked this match as an opener because it was a good match. I think both men put a lot into it & made it a great match with many great spots. Nexus comes out with Punk but the Raw GM sends them back. I was surprised they all came back from being punted but there was no Husky Harris I think. There were many near falls in the match & allot of weapons were involved. I liked the kendo sticks, chairs, steel steps & announcer’s table being used. The violence of this match was nice but a problem I have was the match ended in the ring. I liked the part when Punk put the chair around Orton’s neck & throw him into the ring post even though it was not TV-PG. Orton hitting an RKO on the announcer’s table was a nice spot also. The end was not when Orton hit Punk with a RKO off the top rope. I enjoyed this nice 20 minute opener but I think it would have been nice if Punk won the match on Raw a few weeks ago. This means CM Punk has not won a PPV match since Extreme Rules 2010 last year.

Backstage Sheamus is complaining that Kofi Kingston cannot fight Sheamus for the US title because he is not American. I found it funny but dumb because Sheamus is not American either.

Match 2: Kofi Kingston vs. Sheamus in a Table Match for the US Title:

This match was a bonus match & it was a good bonus match. The match got about 9 minutes but both men told a good story in the ring. I liked how WWE had Sheamus overpower Kofi but Kofi used his speed and abilities to counter the power of Sheamus for an enjoyable match. The end came with Kofi hitting a boom drop off the top rope on Sheamus through a table on the outside. I thought it was good but everyone knew Kofi would win to bring the US title to Raw.

Match 3: Jack Swagger & Michael Cole vs. Jerry “The King” Lawler & Jim Ross in a Tag Team Country Whipping Match:

Part of me wishes I made it back home to see the United States Title get defended instead of this being my first match to see. I don’t know about you guys but I am sick and tired of this feud. One year ago Jack Swagger was defending the World Title and now he is teaming with a non wrestler against a part time wrestler and a man who in my opinion is the greatest announcer of all time. Needless to say this match wasn’t an instant classic. Cole got the pin on JR after a rollup. The highlight for me was JR low blowing Swagger. This was a match that they could have kept off this pay per view that’s for sure.

Match 4: Cody Rhodes vs. Rey Mysterio in a Falls Count Anywhere Match:

I enjoyed this match at WrestleMania and thought Cody was going to go over here. Adding the falls count anywhere stipulation was dumb as they didn’t spend that much time outside the ring. Mysterio got the win after hitting Cody with a 619 while Cody was standing up then following it with a splash from the top rope. I am sad to see this feud come to an end as Rey got drafted to Raw. While Rey is going to falter on a RAW roster full of faces Cody will shine on SmackDown as one of the top if not the top heel on the show.

Match 5: Layla vs. Michelle McCool in a Loser Leaves WWE No Countout No DQ:

During the week I read that Michelle was leaving the WWE after this match. I’ve never been a fan of Laycool but I thought this was a decent match. This match saw Layla kick out of the Styles…oops wrong company I mean the Faith Breaker and McCool kick out of multiple finishers from Layla. The finish came after Michelle hit the Faith Breaker then go for a cocky pin just for Layla to roll her up for the pin. After the match Kharma made her long awaited debut and gave Michelle a going away present by planting her with an Implant Buster.I’m not sad to see her go as there are other Divas who are better in the ring and deserve the time on pay per view and on TV other then her.

Match 6: Christian vs. Alberto Del Rio in a Ladder Match for the World Heavyweight Title:

By far this was the match of the night. In just his second WWE ladder match Del Rio showed a lot of people he can take a big bump as well as the next guy. This match had a lot of bumps and both superstars put their bodies on the line for the fans. The one major downfall of this match was Brodus Clay getting involved and getting busted open for his troubles. Alberto was so very close to grabbing the belt when Edge in his Jeep started to honk his horn. This allowed Christian to push the ladder over sending Del Rio to the floor. From there Christian climbed the ladder and won his first World Heavyweight Title. Watching this at home I marked out big time. I’ve been a big fan of both Edge and Christian and I was happy to see him grab the brass ring. It just sucks that he got that chance because his best friend had to retire.

Match 7: Kane & The Big Show vs. The Corre Lumberjack Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship:

This was a bonus match and I feel it just downright sucked. Big Zeke slammed Show like he has like 5 or 6 times already and then Barrett costs them the match. Nothing exciting here.

Match 8: John Cena vs. The Miz vs. John Morrison in a Triple Threat Steel Cage Match for the WWE Title:

This was the second best match of the evening. All three men stepped up their game and deserved to be in the main event of the evening. I thought Miz broke his neck when he got suplexed off the ropes. Morrison was about to escape the cage when R-Truth came out and basically took Morrison out by assaulting him then going over the cage himself. Miz went to hit the Skull Crushing Finale on Cena but Cena countered it into an AA from the top rope for the pin and the WWE title. I am not happy with this choice as Miz was holding his own as WWE Champion. Now Cena will hold the title until WrestleMania 28 when he faces The Rock. I’m curious to see where the feud with Truth and Morrison goes and also what happens to Miz now that he is no longer champion.

Overall Reaction: All in all from the matches I saw this was a pretty good pay per view. Christian winning was the highlight for me hands down. I am upset though that they gave time to two tag matches that sucked and didn’t put wrestlers like Dolph Ziggler or Daniel Bryan on the show. I’m interested to see where the WWE goes heading into Over The Limit. Thanks for reading everyone.

WWE Extreme Rules 2011 Preview Written by John P Mayer and Andrew B Hi guys, Andrew B & JP Mayer

WWE Extreme Rules 2011 Preview

Written by John P Mayer and Andrew B

Hi guys, Andrew B & JP Mayer here & on May 1st WWE goes Extreme for the one night a year. The event looks good & we are here to preview it. The event has 6 matches but only 2 are title matches. Extreme Rules takes places in Tampa Florida in the same building that Survivor Series 2000 took place in. Andrew B’s pick will be in regular font while JP’s picks are italic. Now let’s look at the card as we give you guys our predictions.

Match 1: Cody Rhodes vs. Rey Mysterio in a Falls Count Anywhere Match:
This feud has been great and I love it. The main reason I like it is because Rey who is a former world champ took a lost to Rhodes at Mania to make Cody look better. If more of the bigger stars (Orton, Cena, HHH, & others) would lose to younger stars as Miz, DiBiase, Rhodes, Ryder, Del Rio, & others WWE could be better & that is why I like what Mysterio did. As for the match I expect it to be a good match. I don’t expect much wrestling as more of a brawl. I enjoyed their match at Mania & I thought it was better than their match on SmackDown & will be better then Extreme Rules. I think with Mysterio on Raw now it would be smart to have Rhodes win and then start a new feud. I think Rhodes will win & then become a bigger star in WWE in the future.
Andrew B’s Predicted Winner: Cody Rhodes

I think this is the start of the rise of Cody Rhodes to main event status. At WrestleMania Cody showed the world that he belonged in the ring with the best and Mysterio is one of the best in the world. After this match I see Cody becoming a top heel in all the WWE and quite possibly getting a shot at the World Heavyweight Title in the near future. I agree with Andrew when he said this match is going to be a brawl. Cody gets the win here to stay on a roll and sends Mysterio back to RAW with a loss.
JP’s Predicted Winner: Cody Rhodes
Match 2: CM Punk vs. Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing Match:
This match is another WrestleMania rematch with a stip added. I thought the match at Mania was good but a little bit of a letdown. I do not like how just like Rhodes vs. Mysterio, WWE gave them a TV match. I think that Punk should have won the match on Raw so each man would have 1 win going into Extreme Rules. Orton going to SmackDown is the end of the feud so I think Orton will win & then go for the World Title after. This match will be a good match & maybe better than their WrestleMania match but only it will have the same result.
Andrew B’s Predicted Winner: Randy Orton

I’m not a big fan of Last Man Standing matches but I feel Orton and Punk can pull it off. Both Randy and Punk have the power to steal the show and I think besides the ladder match this will be the match of the night. If the Nexus interferes I can see Punk going over here. This match has been the toughest for me because both men deserve to win here, but in the end I think Randy Orton will be the last man standing and head over to SmackDown with the win.
JP’s Predicted Winner: Randy Orton
Match 3: Layla vs. Michelle McCool in a No DQ/ No Countout Loser Leaves SmackDown Match:
This is the divas match of the card & I think the split of Laycool is a good idea because both ladies are good female wrestlers. Layla has improved in the ring lately and I would rather see this match then Eve vs. Twin Magic. I think these 2 divas will get more time than most diva matches get on PPV. I think Michelle McCool will get the winner because she is the better wrestler & SD needs good divas plus McCool has pull in the company because she married an Outlaw.

Andrew B’s Predicted Winner: Michelle McCool

Let me say this from the start: I DO NOT LIKE MICHELLE MCCOOL! I feel the only reason she’s in this position is because she married to some last outlaw. While she is decent in the ring I can name at least 3 other divas who deserve this ppv time. Now as for the match I’m expecting it to be quick and after seeing Layla snap on SmackDown I see her pulling off the “upset” and sending Michelle to RAW.
JP’s Predicted Winner: Layla

Match 4: Jim Ross & Jerry Lawler vs. Michael Cole & Jack Swagger in a Strap Match:
This is a feud that needs to end. I hate Michael Cole so much; he is annoying & pissed me off. I also hate that every time JR comes back to WWE, they treat him like crap & it is so annoying. I hope that after this it ends & JR is staying with WWE for a while. I think that Lawler & Ross will win & them maybe Swagger can be in a good feud because he does not deserve to be in this feud.
Andrew B’s Predicted Winners: Jim Ross & Jerry Lawler

Let me ask you all this. Why is the WWE wasting pay per view time on this shit and not having any of their other champions wrestle on this show? Your guess is as good as mine. I expect this match to be more comedy then actual wrestling and in the end I see Swagger turning on Michael Cole and HOPEFULLY this stupid feud ends.
JP’s Predicted Winner: JR & King
Match 5: John Cena vs. Miz vs. John Morrison for the WWE Title in a Steel Cage Match:
First I just want to say it was smart that Morrison was put in instead of R Truth. Morrison will not win the title though because I think Truth will interfere which leaves Cena or Miz. I also think Riley will get involved but Cena will take care of him. The Riley distraction will allow Miz to retain the title. I think WWE wants Miz to be champ for a while & I will tell you another reason why Cena won’t win the title Sunday. Every time Cena stands tall on the last Raw before the PPV he loses at the PPV. Here is an example on the Raw before Mania 27 he gave Rock an AA & lost at Mania. In 09 he gave Orton an AA on the top on a HIAC on Raw & lost to Orton in a HIAC that Sunday. So Cena stood tall Monday which means he will lose. In the end the WWE Champ will be AWESOME!!
Andrew B’s Predicted Winner: Miz retains the WWE Title

Putting Morrison in this match will add that all around wrestler into the mix as Cena and Miz are mostly mat wrestlers. This is the kind of match that does not favor the champion as he can lose the title without being pinned. I’m tired of seeing Cena with the belt. Yes he makes women and children happy but he knows like 6 wrestling moves. John Morrison showed he deserved to be champion when he nearly beat Miz on the first RAW of the year. And what can I say about the Miz other then he is showing everyone that he belongs as the top guy in the WWE.I have said from the beginning that one day he will be a top guy in the WWE and I was proven right. I don’t see Alex Riley getting involved in this match as he’s now on SmackDown. I see Miz winning here and holding the title until at least SummerSlam.
JP’s Predicted Winner: Miz

Match 6: Alberto Del Rio vs. Christian in a Ladder Match for the World Title:
This match will be the 40th ladder match in WWE history. This will be the 8th ladder match for Christian & the first for Del Rio. I thought that Del Rio was going to win at Mania but that did not happen. I like this match because one of the 2 men will win their 1st world title (not counting the ECW or TNA title). Now that Del Rio is on Raw & all 3 men in the WWE title match are on Raw it looks like Christian will win. I am picking Christian for the win & then maybe he can feud with Rhodes or maybe DiBiase.
Andrew B’s Predicted Winner: Christian wins the Vacant World Title
This will be the match of the night. Christian has the advantage of being in ladder and TLC matches in the past and Del Rio has only been in 1.I’m expecting a lot of big ladder spots in this match. Alberto Del Rio said it’s his destiny to become the World Heavyweight Champion and yes one day he will win that title, but on this night Christian realizes his dream and honors his fallen friend Edge by winning his first World Heavyweight Title.
JP’s Predicted Winner: Christian

Now Final Words from JP about Extreme Rules 2011:

This PPV is lacking in matches and talent. While the two title matches are sure to please us fans and the falls count anywhere and the last man standing matches will be good the other two matches don’t deserve the time on a pay per view. Why waste the time on those matches when you have such great talent on your roster like Sheamus, Kofi Kingston, Daniel Bryan, Evan Bourne, and the Corre. In the end this will be a so- so pay per view and the fans will be left wanting more. Thank you for reading & from both of us it has been a pleasure giving you our predictions.

I’m writing this not as a person who likes to write about wrestling. I’m writing this as a fan

I’m writing this not as a person who likes to write about wrestling. I’m writing this as a fan of wrestling now for over 25 years. What I just saw on RAW made me realize that wrestlers are human and they do this for us the fans. Adam Copeland was like all of us. He was a fan of the business. Now because of injuries he must retire. As a fan I would like to tell you how I feel about him.
I’ll always remember when he was about to debut for the WWE and they aired those promos for him. In a time when it was Austin and The Rock, Edge brought a fresh look to the roster. I liked that instead of coming to the ring from the ramp he would come in through the crowd. Edge always amazed me with his in ring skills but what had me was the fact he rarely spoke. But once he started teaming with his childhood friend Christian is when he started to show the WWE fans that he was here to stay. If you had the benefit of flash photography you would see both Edge and Christian shine in the ring together. The match that will always stand out in my mind was the triple ladder match from WrestleMania 16.That match is one of my all time favorites and that night I was simply amazed by all six athletes in that match. Now I know he was in ladder matches and TLC matches that were better than that one, but that match will always stand out in my mind.

Now while Edge was an awesome tag team partner it wasn’t until he broke out on his own that he truly shined. Now I wasn’t super fond of when he first turned heel but it was his skills in the ring that I cared more about. While yes the “live sex” show was funny the street fight he had with Mick Foley at WrestleMania 22 showed me that he could adapt to any ring style. Night in and night out he would put his body in the line to make sure we went home happy. I had the pleasure of seeing him live one time. I’ll always remember that match. It was DX and Ric Flair against Raked RKO and Kenny Dykstra. Now yes the bad guys lost but I can say I got the honor of seeing Edge wrestle live.

At 37 years old it sounds young for Edge to be calling it a career. But that neck injury was really bad. If it was me I would have never of came back but I am not even a tenth of the man that he is. All I can say is thank you Edge. Thank you for all the memories that will remain with me until the day I die.

I’m back everyone. First and foremost I would like to apologize to everyone for leaving without saying anything. I’ve been battling some personal demons for a long time now. But now I’m back and I think it’s time to go around the ring.

WrestleMania is just a couple of days away and I must say I am excited. I’m looking forward to seeing The Rock and Stone Cold in the same arena for the first time in about 9 years. I’m also looking forward to the three big matches Miz vs. Cena Edge vs. Del Rio and Triple H vs. The Undertaker. These are six of the top guys in the WWE and on the grandest stage of them all I see them all shining. Now I’m not a Mizfit but watching Miz since he won the WWE title has been amazing. From the time he was on Tough Enough to being a “Chick Magnet” to now being awesome Mike Mizanin has shown the world that he belongs on this stage and on Sunday I feel he as well as everyone else will step there games up a little bit more for everyone around the world to watch.

I was looking over the card for Sunday and it was tough for me to pick my winners so here goes. As much as I hate to see John Cena with the WWE Title I think he will defeat Miz and become a 10 time champion. Personally I’d love to see The Rock come in and Rock Bottom Cena into a big bowl of Fruity Pebbles but I think that may be too much to ask. As for the World Title I smell a heel turn and I see Christian costing Edge the World Title. Now the match between The Undertaker and Triple H is going to be insane. Triple H says he’s the one but I think he’s number 19.I see Taker winning and bringing his streak to South Beach. Another match that has me intrigued is Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus. This is Bryan’s big chance in front of the biggest crowd he has ever been in front of and I think he will shine but in the end I think Sheamus will retain. As for Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole personally I would love to see Lawler piledrive Cole through the ring but we all know that won’t happen. In the end Lawler will get his hand raised and Cole will get a Stunner and a beer bath.

Ok guys that’s all for now. I will be back next week to talk more about WWE and my trip to Madison Square Garden. Till then I will see you guys Around the Ring.

Thank you everyone for your kind words for my brother. He is on his way to recovery. Now it’s

Thank you everyone for your kind words for my brother. He is on his way to recovery. Now it’s time to go around the ring.

Alberto Del Rio opened up Raw by announcing that he will be going after the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania. He also sent a message to the reigning champion Edge by attacking him and locking on his cross arm breaker submission hold. Whoever the champion may be come WrestleMania is in for one hell of a match. Ever since Alberto came up to the main roster he has been a force and it’s just a matter of time before he gets some gold and I think he can do it on the biggest stage of them all.

The Elimination Chamber is setting up to be an interesting event to say the least. With Jerry Lawler winning the Raw Rumble last Monday he is the new number one contender to Miz and the WWE title. It’s nice to see Jerry getting a chance to win the title but he is old enough to be Miz’s father. I see Miz retaining but with help from Alex Riley and his number one fan Michael Cole. The remaining people from the Raw Rumble will enter the chamber to see who goes on to WrestleMania to face the champion. Out of the six men in the chamber I would love to see John Morrison win and face Miz at Mania. In my opinion he is so close to grabbing the brass ring yet he keeps missing. WrestleMania could be his stage to shine just like Del Rio. However all signs point to the poster boy John Cena to win to continue his battle with Miz. It would be nice to see other people in the main event scene other then Cena and Orton. Sheamus is a good option as is Morrison. But it’s time to get fresh faces up there.

SmackDown saw Booker T become part of the announce team. Booker will give the team a fresh feel and hopefully shut Cole up. SmackDown also saw Wade Barrett, Rey Mysterio, Kane and Drew McIntyre all advance to the Elimination Chamber match along with Edge and Dolph Ziggler in a battle for the World Heavyweight Title. Also we saw the “firing” of Kelly Kelly after she helped Edge defend the World Title against Dolph Ziggler and Lay-Cool. Kelly has come a long way from Kelly’s Expose and is slowly becoming a good wrestler. I expect to see her back on Raw. I will say it was nice to see her slap Ziggler.

Well guys it’s time to say goodbye for now. During the week I’m going to write about TNA since I haven’t covered them in a couple of weeks. In the meantime feel free to drop me a line if you want to see me write about a certain topic or wrestler. Until then I will see you guys again around the ring.

After a memorable Royal Rumble it’s time to go around the ring. I’m still a little shock

After a memorable Royal Rumble it’s time to go around the ring.

I’m still a little shocked that Alberto Del Rio won the Rumble match. When I did my 3 picks last week I picked Del Rio as kind of my sleeper pick but I truly did not expect him to win in all. What was more shocking was eliminating Santino last. When I saw him re-enter the ring you could hear me scream NO! But thankfully Alberto took care of Santino and punched a first class ticket to the Georgia Dome. Overall I was happy with the Rumble match itself. Nash and Booker were known surprises but still nice to see. And John Morrison amazed me again when he did his best Spider Man impression when he latched onto the barricade. I was quite upset when no divas came out and no wrestler even coming close to breaking the 45 minute mark. Still trying to figure out why they took the Divas title off Natalya and gave it to Eve of all people. Don’t get me wrong she’s great to look at but she can’t wrestle as well as most of the divas. The 2 world title matches were pretty good even though I’m still scratching my head as to why Nexus helped Miz win. I think Miz is a great talent and could have beaten Orton on his own. I don’t think I was the only person who thought that Edge would use the spear in his match with Dolph Ziggler but I was caught a little off guard when he used Christian’s Killswitch. Could we possibly see an Edge and Christian reunion? I hope so.

On Raw we saw a champion vs. champion match which was descent with Edge winning by DQ when Ziggler interfered. I would have liked to have seen a clean match here but I still enjoyed the match. Also on Raw we saw the beginning of the Nexus vs. Corre which continued at the Rumble. It will be interesting to see where this feud leads. Personally I’m not a fan of any of the wrestlers but they are all up and coming and have bright futures. SmackDown saw a reunion of Team Rated RKO as Edge and Randy Orton teamed up to defeat The Miz and Dolph Ziggler. After the match Vickie Guerrero pushed her weight around and banned the Spear. Hey Vickie 2008 called they want their storyline back. If you remember back in 2008 she banned The Undertaker’s Hells Gate move during his feud with Edge. I’m sorry but they need to come up with new stuff for Vickie.

I want to apologize for a short article this week. Earlier in the week my little brother was rushed to the emergency room with massive stomach pains which the doctors thought was Crohn’s disease. After hours of tests they determined he has Colitis. Right now I’m doing my best to cope with this. I promise you guys that next week I will have a full article. Until then I’ll see you guys again around the ring.

After a history making week in the WWE it’s time to go around the ring. In case you have been

After a history making week in the WWE it’s time to go around the ring.

In case you have been living under a rock you have heard that this year’s Royal Rumble is going to be a 40 man battle royal. At first I wasn’t super stoked about it but as the week passed I have warmed up to the idea. It gives more room for surprise entries but it eliminates the possibility of a super long time in the ring as in years past. I have 3 people I’ve picked to win and I will discuss that at the end.

Another big item this week is that the Ring of Honor television deal with HDNet is expiring. Now where I live I do not get HDNet so I was unable to see ROH on TV so I relied on YouTube to see matches. I will say that they have great talent and they do not put all their focus on former WWE or TNA stars. If they can get a TV deal on a bigger market I think they could be a number 2 company surpassing TNA. Without a deal it may be tough for them to survive.

Now on to the ring on RAW as I figured the John Cena/CM Punk match ended in a DQ when a mystery man came out and attacked Punk and then Cena. Then this mystery man takes a knee and Punk gives him a Nexus armband. When I first saw this guy I thought it was Batista. It will be quite interesting to see if the Nexus adds any other new members. Another excellent match this past week saw John Morrison defeat Daniel Bryan in a non title match. I feel both men will have an excellent 2011.Also the Miz beat down Randy Orton after his match with Dolph Ziggler. Miz is on top of his game right now and I can see him with the title for a long time maybe even past WrestleMania.

Over on SmackDown we now know the name of the new Wade Barrett group. They are known as the Corre and according to Barrett they are all equals. Teddy Long didn’t buy that and neither do I. So then Teddy is knocked out cold. Gee I wonder who did that? According to the Corre it wasn’t them. Now who believes them? Not me that’s for sure. Later in the evening Justin Gabriel pulled off an upset by defeating Edge in a non title match with help of course. Justin is a great wrestler who I feel was held down by the Nexus and now the Corre. If he breaks away from the Corre I think the sky is the limit for him.

Now on TNA it looks like “THEY” are coming back on February 3rd.But my question to you is who are they? At the end of the show Immortal was beating down Kurt Angle when Abyss came out with Janice in his back. Then out comes Crimson saying they are coming. I’m sorry this is just getting dumb.TNA stands for Total Nonstop Action yet there really isn’t much action.TNA has some great wrestlers and some unique specialty matches that they should showcase more of.

The Royal Rumble is just 7 days away. Earlier I had said that I think 1 of 3 wrestlers will win. Here are my picks:

Alberto Del Rio: Besides Dolph Ziggler he is SmackDown’s hottest wrestler and at TLC he showed he belonged in the main event scene. Just imagine what he could do at the showcase of the immortals?

John Morrison: He has shown time and time again he belongs in the title scene. His match against the Miz on RAW was amazing and I feel like his time is now.

John Cena: He’s been out of the title scene now for about half a year. It would be the ultimate slap in the face of the Nexus to see Cena win the Rumble.

Well guys it’s time to close my notebook and watch some football. I will see you guys again around the ring.

***Note from Christian*** This will be a new feature here on the blog brought to you by John. This is a look back at the week that was in WWE and TNA. It’ll either be posted late Sunday or early Monday. Read it and let him know what you think.

After the Genesis Pay Per View last Sunday and an interesting week in both the WWE and TNA it’s time to go Around The Ring.

I will start in TNA where after Genesis this past Sunday we have 4 new champions with Immortal members Kaz, Beer Money, and Abyss all winning gold but Jeff Hardy lost the TNA World Heavyweight Title to Mr. Anderson in an un advertised title match. Anderson had just defeated Matt Morgan when Eric Bischoff came out and made the match for right then. Anderson made the best of this chance and is now on the top rung of the ladder as the champ. The other big story coming out of Genesis was the debut of Matt Hardy and his interesting new hair-do. All I can say to that is WOW! I feel like IMPACT this past week was a descent post PPV show. It pains me to say this but I think they are splitting up the Motor City Machine Guns. These are 2 of my favorite wrestlers in all of TNA and in my opinion the best tag team the world. Another thing is I’m not big on your brand new champion being pinned in a match less than a week after winning the title but that was the case this past Thursday when Mr. Anderson was pinned in a tag match. Granted it took outside interference for the Hardy Boys to win but still not a good sign to make your champion look weak. Now what is going on with the “THEY ARE COMING” crap again? Is this going to be Dixie’s return? If my memory serves me right “THEY” came on 10-10-10.Also this week marked the return of Karen Ang..Oh I’m sorry its Karen Jarrett now. What’s the point here? We all know what happened between Jeff and Kurt so do us a favor and leave Karen at home.

Over in the WWE it’s beginning to look like there will be 2 Nexus groups. On RAW CM Punk made his Nexus go through an initiation process. Michael McGillicutty took a Nexus style beat down. Husky Harris took a whipping to the back with leather straps. David Otunga I think got the worst of it all and that was a beat down at the hands of the Big Show. I don’t know about you guys but I wouldn’t want to piss him off. Then Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel were to beat each other with kendo sticks. They chose not to do it and left. For a minute I thought they were going to turn face but on Friday I was proven wrong when they come out to help former Nexus leader Wade Barrett attempt to take down the Big Show. It took all 3 of them plus a returning Ezekiel Jackson to finally take the giant down. So I’m curious to see what the name of this group will be. How about Friday Night Nexus? Hey it was worth a shot. Also on SmackDown Dolph Ziggler sent a message to Edge heading into their World Heavyweight Championship match at the Royal Rumble when he attacked the champ as he was about to spear Vickie Guerrero. In my opinion this will be the match of the night at the rumble and while I feel 2011 will be the year of Mister Ziggles I think it is still Edge’s time.

On Raw they were gearing up for the WWE Title match pitting Randy Orton against the current champion The Miz. During the tag team main event match with The Miz and Alex Riley facing Jerry Lawler and Randy Orton Miz did not help Alex after he got RKO’d then got the second rope fist drop by Lawler. I think Orton/Miz will be a great match but I feel Miz will retain. On this week’s RAW John Cena will face CM Punk. I don’t think this is going to be a clean match as I see interference from Nexus which will lead to a match at the Rumble or maybe the Elimination Chamber PPV. These are 2 of the top guys in the WWE and I feel they will deliver.

On a side note I am a big football fan and I’m writing this as the Jets were pulling the upset over New England. For my Super Bowl picks I’m going with Chicago and Pittsburgh.

Well guys it’s time to close up my notebook and say goodbye for now. I will see you guys again around the ring.

***Note From Christian*** I’d like to add a bit of a disclaimer to this column. These words are the sole feelings of John P. Mayer and do not necessarily reflect how I feel or how the other writers on this site feel. I know that this is still a very sensitive subject for many but John asked me if he could write this and as long as something is done tastefully I’ll never say no to any of my writers. If you have any comments of any kind please direct them to John in the comments section. If you feel this column has no business being on the site then I welcome you to email me directly at doctormoney83@aol.com and we can discuss what is going on. Before the column gets started John would like to tell you a bit about himself.

Since I didn’t do it in my Eddie Guerrero article, I’d like to formally introduce myself to you. My name is John P. Mayer. I’ve been a lifelong wrestling fan. I am 30 years old and I live in Wanamassa, New Jersey. That’s right next to Asbury Park and if you are a wrestling guru like myself you know that the late Bam Bam Bigelow was from there. I am a fan of all wrestling from WWE to TNA to Ring of Honor. This is my second article for this website and in the near future I will be doing an article on The Ultimate Warrior. If anyone would like me to write about their favorite wrestler please drop me a line and I’ll be glad to do my best to do it. I have a lot of passion for pro wrestling and I hope it shows in my work.

When you hear the name Chris Benoit what comes to mind? Do you remember his technical ability? Maybe. How about his record 5 United States Championships or his World Heavyweight Championship? Probably not. When I say Chris Benoit most people will say murderer. I am here to remind you all of Chris Benoit the wrestler.

Our journey takes us back to the 80′s when a young Chris met The Dynamite Kid, a man he idolized. From there he went to train in the famous Hart family dungeon under the guidance of Stu Hart. Once ready he debuted in Stampede Wrestling. In Stampede he won numerous tag team titles. When Stampede closed in 1989 he went over to Japan and became The Pegasus Kid under a mask. Over there he faced some of the best wrestlers including Jushin”Thunder”Liger who he defeated to become the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion. Unfortunately he lost the title and his mask to Liger. Without the mask he became Wild Pegasus. It was as Wild Pegasus that Benoit won tournments, The Super J Cup in 1994 and The Best of the Super Juniors in 1993 and 1995.

Here in the states we didn’t hear of Chris Benoit until 1992 when he had a brief run in World Championship Wrestling. During this time he had an excellent match with 2 Cold Scorpio which Scorpio won with 3 seconds remaining in the 20 minute time limit. He would make his mark in WCW years later.

In Extreme Championship Wrestling Chris became known as “The Crippler” when he broke Sabu’s neck in a match. Chris would join forces with Dean Malenko and Shane Douglas to form the Triple Threat. During this time Benoit and Malenko held the Tag Team Titles and Douglas held the World Title making The Triple Threat the most dominant 3 wrestlers in the company. Due to an expired work visa Chris had to leave ECW and returned to Japan. Then WCW came a calling.

Almost immediately upon returning to WCW Ric Flair reformed The Four Horsemen and they recruited the “Canadian Crippler”. As a member of the horsemen he would join up with the Kevin Sullivan led Dungeon of Doom as they tried to eliminate Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage. After that feud ended he entered into a very lengthy feud with Sullivan in which an on screen affair with Sullivan’s wife Nancy (better known to all of us as Woman) turned into an off screen affair and the end of Sullivan’s marriage. Sullivan and Benoit battled for over a year when Benoit defeated Sullivan in a retirement match. After that Sullivan went behind the scenes and Benoit would continue on.

After his feud with Sullivan ended Benoit had an epic series of matches with Booker T which included a best of 7 series to determine the number 1 contender to Fit Finlay and the WCW World Television Title. Despite losing the series Benoit showed everyone that he was one of the best wrestlers in the world. It was then that he began to climb the ranks in WCW. In 1999 he wrestled Bret Hart in a tribute match to Bret’s brother Owen who had been killed in a terrible accident at a WWF pay per view. That match stole the show and showed everyone that he deserved to be in the ring against main event competition. They would meet again in the finals of the WCW World Heavyweight Title tournament which Bret won. At WCW Souled Out in 2000 Chris won the world title by defeating Sid Viscous. However he was not happy and left the company and vacating his newly won title.

Benoit, Malenko, Eddie Guerrero, and Perry Saturn all left WCW and showed up on WWF Monday Night Raw and immediately made an impact. Within the first 6 months in the company he had won the WWF Intercontinental Championship and was in the main event of a pay per view against The Rock for the WWF Championship. Despite losing that match he showed the world he was there to stay. In his first year in the company Chris held the Intercontinental Title three times total.

In 2001 Chris started to team with Chris Jericho. Together the team defeated The Two Man Power Trip team of Steve Austin and Triple H to win the WWF Tag Team Titles. The Chris’s also became the top 2 contenders to Austin’s WWF Title. On an episode of SmackDown from Canada Benoit delivered an unheard of 10 consecutive German suplexes to Austin in a losing effort in a WWF Title match. In a 4 way TLC (tables, ladders, and chairs) match Chris injured his neck which required surgery. However he fought through the pain until the 2001 King of the Ring when he was pinned in a triple threat match for the WWF Title also involving Austin and Jericho. One of the best technical wrestlers in the world would wind up missing over a year of action.

By the time Chris came back in 2002 the WWE was divided into brands. At the first ever WWE draft Chris was selected to go to SmackDown. Yet when he returned he returned over to Raw. Again almost immediately he won the Intercontinental Title again. Once moving over to SmackDown he formed a team with Kurt Angle and were the first ever WWE Tag Team Champions. But Chris and Kurt were better as opponents as at the 2003 Royal Rumble they faced off in what my opinion was the 2003 match of the year. At the rumble Kurt made Chris tap out to the ankle lock but after the match was over the crowd gave both men a standing ovation which was well deserved.

At the 2004 Rumble thanks to SmackDown General Manager Paul Heyman Benoit entered first. What followed that was history. For the next 61 minutes Chris survived and won the rumble. Due to a loophole he was able to go over to Raw to face the World Heavyweight Champion Triple H. Shawn Michaels joined in and at WrestleMania 20 Chris Benoit forced Triple H to tap out to the Crippler Crossface to win the World Title. After the match Nancy and their son Daniel came into the ring to celebrate. That was 1 of the few times you would see an emotional side come out of Chris.

The following year Chris was drafted back over to SmackDown and was back on the mid card level again. At SummerSlam 2005 Chris defeated Orlando Jordan in a 25 second squash match to win the United States Title. In a funny segment on SmackDown he had a competition with himself to see what would be faster, the match at SummerSlam or him making a cup of coffee. In 2007 at the annual draft Chris was drafted to the watered down WWE version of ECW. It was there that he was going to face CM Punk for the ECW Title but no showed the event. I think we all know what happened then.

The next day I’m sitting in my room when I received a text from a friend saying that Chris, Nancy, and Daniel were dead. That night on Raw the show was dedicated to Chris with highlights of his career and wrestlers telling us of memories they had of him. The next night on ECW Vince McMahon stated that we would never hear his name on WWE programming again due to information on the deaths.

I will be the first to say what Chris Benoit did was beyond horrific. HOWEVER I do not agree with what the WWE has done with his legacy. In the almost 4 years since the deaths you have never heard the name Chris Benoit on WWE TV. So let me ask you this am I suppose to forget his epic match with Kurt Angle at the 2003 Royal Rumble? How about his 61 minute win at the 2004 Rumble and his World Title victory? Guess I have to forget them as well. Oh yea, by the way he was the second man ever to win the rumble from the number 1 spot. One moment I will NEVER forget was Chris and Eddie celebrating in the ring with their world titles after WrestleMania 20. In my eyes I will always see Chris Benoit for the wrestler that he was, not a murderer.

***Note from Christian*** What you are about to read is a column by my Facebook buddy John P. Mayer. Right after the anniversary of Eddie Guerrero’s death he asked me if he could write something discussing the career of one of his favorite wrestlers. Like everyone else, he got busy around the holidays but it’s done now. Comment below and let him know what you think.

“Viva La Raza” Whenever you heard those words in a WWE arena you were in for a treat. Eddie Guerrero came out and gave us fans something to talk about. From his in ring ability or his lying, cheating, or stealing Eddie always made sure the fans got their money’s worth.

In Mexico Eddie teamed with Art Barr to form one of the most hated teams in the country. It was there that Art taught Eddie the frog splash, a finishing move Eddie used throughout his career in ECW, WCW, and the WWE. Tragically in 1994 Art Barr passed away before the team was going to debut in Extreme Championship Wrestling. Once in ECW Eddie had classic matches with Dean Malenko that people still talk about today. There last match was a 2 out of 3 falls match dubbed “The Malenko Guerrero Classic”. Eddie and Dean wrestled their hearts out for the fans and the match finished as a draw. That match helped me become a fan of not only Eddie and Dean but ECW as well.

During that time both the WWF and WCW would swoop in and get talent from ECW. Eric Bischoff went in and snagged Eddie, Dean, and Chris Benoit. During Eddie’s time in WCW he won the United States Heavyweight Championship and the Cruiserweight Championship and had an epic match against Rey Misterio Jr. at Halloween Havoc 1997. However the majority of the time Eddie was in WCW he was stuck as a mid-card wrestler as Bischoff would rather push the older wrestlers instead of the more talented wrestlers on their roster such as Guerrero, Malenko, Benoit, or Mysterio. In 1999 Eddie had a near fatal car crash but he came back better the ever. In 2000 he received his release and went up north to the WWF.

Once in the WWF is when Eddie truly shined. From teaming with The Radicalz to his “mamacita” Chyna Eddie always would be the one to steal the show. And in his feuds with Rob Van Damn and Edge Eddie truly showed that he belonged with the best in the WWF. Unfortunately in this time his demons got the best of him and after declining rehab the WWF had no choice but to let him go. He was out of a job and his wife left him. In that time Eddie fought to get clean and get everything back and he did. Now clean and sober the WWE was his for the taking.

Upon his return he and his nephew Chavo formed Los Guerreros and they achieved lifelong dreams by winning the WWE Tag Team Championships. But it was once they split up that Eddie found his most success. In 2004 Eddie won the WWE Championship from Brock Lesnar. I will not lie after the match I shed a tear for Eddie as he truly deserved to be champion. At WrestleMania 20 he did what he does best and that’s cheated when he undid his boot against Kurt Angle. But from that night I will always remember at the end of the evening after his friend Chris Benoit won the World Heavyweight Title that Eddie came into the ring and clapped and embraced Chris. I will never forget the friends holding there championship belts as the confetti fell from the air.

I’ll always remember where I was when I had heard that Eddie had died. When I heard I didn’t want to believe it but sad to say it was true. You can say whatever you want but I cried. Not only will I not get to see him do what he did so very well but I knew his 3 kids would not have their father anymore and to me family is everything. I will always remember that he gave it his all in the ring. And his legacy is still in the WWE as Chavo uses the “Three Amigos” triple vertical suplexes. His wife Vicki has been the on screen general manager before and WrestleMania 26 she performed (very poorly but hey she’s not a wrestler) a frog splash. And now his oldest daughter Shaul is training to follow in daddy’s footsteps and become the next great Guerrero wrestler.

People have asked me what my favorite match of Eddie’s was. I don’t have just 1 I have 5 and they are:

1-ECW Eddie Guerrero vs. Dean Malenko 2 out of 3 falls
2-WCW Eddie Guerrero(c) vs. Rey Mysterio Jr WCW Cruiserweight Title vs. Misterio’s Mask
3-WWE Eddie Guerrero vs. Brock Lesnar(c) WWE Championship No Way Out 2004
4-WWE Eddie Guerrero(c) vs. John “Bradshaw” Layfield WWE Championship Judgment Day 2004
5-WWE Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio Steel Cage Match Friday Night SmackDown

Eddie you lied, you cheated, you stole but you always had me at the edge of my seat wanting more. I miss you and I hope I can see you wrestle in that big wrestling ring in the sky when my time comes.
