Not the appropriate pie for this festive time of year, but  relevent in proving my previous doubts and criticisms firmly wrong, as I ‘kick back’ and ‘chillax’ on a sub-zero Saturday afternoon watching Portsmouth put troubled Liverpool down from the comfort of my bedroom, as opposed to the usual living room. I’ll never need leave my ‘office’ again.

It’s pleasing to say that Sky Player on Xbox 360 works excellently. Aside from an exciting arsenal of films, documentaries, entertainment programmes and whatever else in between, which will be used to finally watch the apparently hilarious Airplane (if the Naked Gun series is anything to go by, it will be exactly that) amongst other stuff I’ve successfully avoided over the years, it’s offering of live television is what tickled the ol’ buds the most. In this age of broadband it should’ve felt highly conceivable that something like this could be normal, but it’s a little backward here at AllThatRumpus HQ, where cynicism and apprehension of it working properly was cemented after a disastrous launch. However, the Microsoft technical monkeys promised they’d rectify the situation and use a staggered release method at a pace the servers could hack, and the results are very pleasing.

Sky Player’s menu presentation is satisfying for the goggles; where each type of television category has been chopped and shaped into easily navigable portions. If that isn’t enough, then each box with big bold letters stating what’s available in that section is accompanied with an image, presumably to help the illiterate. On a more serious note, it looks great, and the moody blue and black theme is rather professional-looking indeed. Bravo graphics department!

Fiddling with the controller during Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday football scores programme (yes, it’s been on for four minutes and we’ve already had an ‘Unbelievable Jeff!’. Now this is what I signed up for!) it came to attention that for those battling with buffering issues have the option to alter the video quality, which presumably should solve those problems. It buffered for me a couple of times during the live game at the highest quality, but has otherwise run perfectly. In addition, the viewer has been gifted the ability to scroll through each channel via a little or large(r) schedule menu, meaning that you can happily jump from watching your team lose miserably to Johnny Bravo in a few movements of the analogue stick.

It’s a great addition to the Xbox 360 for those that already have Sky, yet not so great to those who aren’t already forking out at least 40 English pounds per calender month. It’s not essential by any means, but if you have Sky Multiroom or Sky Broadband, there is absolutely no valid reason not to exploit what could be the start of a great console-television relationship, for as long as Microsoft and Sky can maintain a rosy friendship. No doubt Mr. William Gates III and Mr. Keith Rupert Murdoch exchanged Christmas cards this year.

It’ll be interesting to see what, if any, response Nintendo and Sony have to this rather offensive Microsoft onslaught. What with Project Natal penned in for next year, the Xbox clan are currently leading the way in the innovation stakes, which can only breed a new batch of ideas from the other corners of the ring.

Yes, I am an 18 year old male. Yes, I realize that I am writing a blog about the phenomona that 12 year old girls and cougars both wet their pants over. The series known as Twilight.

Now, some may ask if the “Twilight” saga counts as a cult film. and by definition, my answer is yes. There are legions of undying fans willing to do just about anything (and yes i do mean anything) to let everyone know that they are fans. Just because its a financial success and very, very mainstrean doesn’t mean its not a cult film.

The newest addition to the series is of course “New Moon.” I went to the midnight premiere of this film expecting and hoping for a trainwreck comparable to the first film, which I would describe on the uncomfortable scale as a “being touched inappropriately.”

However, “New Moon” was actually pretty good. The hipster in me loved the soundtrack (Thom Yorke and Bon Iver for the win!) and it was actually very aesthetically pleasing with interesting uses of conventional ideas and symbolism (i.e. the “Romeo and Juliet” cover when Bella falls asleep.

The movie isn’t all white make up and hot topic gift cards though, because let’s face it, the reason behind the movie actually happening is stupid. Edward leaves Bella after absolutely NOTHING happens at a birthday party and then Bella spends half a year whining about instead of doing what women ages 12-46 wanted her to do, which is get with werewolf Jacob Black. Also, there is one awkward part that just makes you feel nostalgic of the first film.

One last note, if you’re a guy DO NOT go see this movie with your significant other. The group of werewolves spend a majority of their time without shirts on and you WILL feel emasculated. I promise.

This is so true. When I was younger, in the early 90s, Cartoon Network was the greatest channel ever. With its random Hanna-Barbara resurrections and He-Man rip offs (or vice versa, Thundarr might have come first…) it was a goldmine for real, classic cartoons.

Today its a shadow of its former self, much like Melly Gibson or Tom Cruise, and that makes me sad…

RetroJunk has a great article on it. And by great article I mean three sentence blurb complaining about the same things I just mentioned. But still, its worth checking out. I have to disagree with them, though, as I believe Cartoon Network started dying as soon as they started cramming their own cartoons down kids’ throats…

Johnny Kimdir?

Johnny  daima hatun peşinde koşan ama her seferinden hatunlardan dayak yiyen ama yinede kendini hatunların ona bayıldığını sanan, kaslarını beynine göre daha fazla gelişmiş (gerçi beyni hiç gelişmemiş ama )  ve kendini çok ama çok beğenmiş bir çizgi film karakteri. En fazla kullandığı kelimede sitemizin sloganı olan “hu ha ho şu kaslara bak bebek” He birde şu gözünden asla çıkarmadığı gözlüğü unutmamak lazım.

Şunu da belirtmeden geçemiycem. Bana göre şu ana kadar yapılmış en iyi çizgi film seslendirmesi. Hatta orijinal seslendirmeden bile daha iyi..

So, if you haven’t already heard, the new cover girl of Playboy magazine is…wait for it….Marge Simpson. Not the first person we think of when considering sexy women. But I suppose those long legs, that voluminous hair and those big alluring eyes could do the trick.

This got us thinking: if men can ogle cartoon women then we sure as hell can drool over some hunky cartoon men. And there are plenty to choose from.

Be careful though, at the end of the day they are fantasy, and they may have our actual prospects looking a little less then desirable. But hey, a girl can dream, right?

Superman

Can you get a more perfect man? Equal parts smart, brooding, strong, and go-getter-y. He has the muscle and the brains. And the tight suit to show it all off.

Johnny Bravo

His deep voice and daredevil attitude, makes him the quintessential bad boy. He’s got that Danny Zuko/ Elvis thing going on, and we like it. Plus, homeboy looks good in a tight pair of jeans.

No, I never thought I’d fall for a guy in Harem pants either, but how can you not? He’s adorable and the boy can sing! Serenading his girl on a flying carpet – need we need say more?

Fred from Scooby Doo

He’s clean cut, has that adorable blonde hair and can rock a neck-scarf like no one else. Plus, he doesn’t pop his collar, which is something we can definitely get behind. He’s smart and innovative (obviously, he’s solving all those crimes!) and is total bring-home-to-mama material.

Dimitri from Anastasia

He’s a little rough around the edges. A roll up your sleeves kind of guy. And he completely abandons his desire for money and power for love – totally sexy.

Hercules

Bulging Muscles? Check. Long, silky hair? Check. Love for animals? Check. Oh and he’s also got those sparkling baby blues. He was adorable before he became the hero, but when he transforms from a boy to a man, we just can’t resist.

Mr. Incredible

A man who loves his family is most definitely sexy, and Mr. Incredible would do anything for his wife and kids. Plus, he has that average-guy-turned-hero storyline that grabs our heart.

Fry from Futurama

We’ve got to include him for all those girls who are suckers for a nerdy guy. He has a lovable smile, messy hair and that squeaky voice. He has the affect of a little puppy dog; we want to give him a big hug and take him shopping for a new outfit. But unlike a puppy, we wanna take him home and make out with him after.

Zorro

A little mystery is always a good thing. We can never pin down Zorro which makes him that much more attractive. And the accent doesn’t hurt either.

Mastering the evil eye

It makes me feel old to say this – but they grow up so quickly – it feels like yesterday when he was just a baby!

Cartoon network really had lots of nice and cute cartoon characters. We have Dexter, Powerpuff Girls, Ed, Edd and Eddy and of course Johnny Bravo, the bachelor among these and I think is the most unlucky among them. He always get smashed up ( food bash )even with his love life and of course with other people. I remember watching his series, when I was in my grade school, and even though his life goes isn’t fair, still, I can see and feel his good sides a s a character.

But then, the funny thing about him is that, he isn’t that lucky enough. Johnny Bravo will always be Johnny  Bravo. And I know that he is very popular. And what I love about this cartoon character, is that the series has this unique plots and story. And I guess that’s what makes him very famous. Getting bullied, not really bullied but smashed I think is the best term to describe what he’s always been through.
