The official opposition has called for the upcoming general elections to be scrapped and for them to

The official opposition has called for the upcoming general elections to be scrapped and for them to be replaced with Politics Idols – a singing competition with one singer participating from each political party. This comes after Helen Zille’s stirring performance (accompanied with spirited boogieing) of Never give up, the DA’s new anticrime song, outside a drug dealer’s house in Belhar.

The ANC is believed to be in favour of the idea, provided they can appoint the judges. Counter-revolutionaries such as Randall Abrahams and Gareth Cliff will not be included on the panel.

“If music be the food of love, play on,” Jacob Zuma said, tapping his tummy, at today’s press conference. He uncharacteristically sang his adversary’s praises: “For once Helen is making a constructive contribution. She’s always daring me to debate against her and yet she knows I would far rather do a dance-off.”

The cocksure Mr Zuma is reportedly feeling confident about winning. “I’m in good shape – it’s all that singing in the shower. The baby oil helps me to reach the high notes.” He plans to do a cover of I kissed a girl and I liked it but his newly appointed music manager Jon Qwelane has other plans.

“The great Msholozi will be singing something from The Village People. He’s at home in a rural kraal, so it’s appropriate.” Another option Qwelane is mooting is Money, Money, Money. “It’s absolutely fab – in fact it’s one of our favourite ABBA songs,” he explains.

When asked for comment on the proposed electoral amendment, the UDM’s Bantu Holomisa broke down, confessing he had never been much of a vocalist and hadn’t performed well ever since he and Roelf Meyer stopped singing from the same song sheet. Other irrelevant parties, however, seem to be quite welcome to the idea – including the Inkatha Freedom Party which plans to stage a remake of Epitombi.

A furious Patricia de Lille is singing a different tune, however. “Music is the tik of the masses,” she spat. “And it was heartless of Helen to torture that poor drug dealer until all hours of the night – it’s everyone’s human right to have a good night’s rest.” The ID leader is canvassing the party’s three Northern Cape supporters on what to do next, but is waiting for cellphone coverage to reach them before any protest actions are proposed to them.

A lot of people — the decadent amoral bourgeoisie, mostly — have got awfully upset over Jon Qwelane’

A lot of people — the decadent amoral bourgeoisie, mostly — have got awfully upset over Jon Qwelane’s latest tirade. Why the fuss? The Sunday Sun is gutter press and Qwelane’s equally contemptible opinions are part and parcel of a paper that believes that stoking xenophobia and perpetuating intolerance is a prerequisite in speaking to the “blue-collar man”.

As the furore rages, let’s not forget that Qwelane is the lovelorn admirer of Mugabe, once describing that despot as a “true revolutionary” who had been made the “villain of the piece” by the “racist” West. In that same Sunday Smut article, Qwelane said that he dreaded Morgan Tsvangirai ever becoming the president of Zimbabwe (despite the nation choosing him in the March election) because:

Zimbabwe will be recolonised all over again, and Tsvangirai will be a latter-day Abel Muzorewa — a bantustan puppet “leader”, with the real puppet masters in Britain and South Africa (read DA, chiefly).

Qwelane is no stranger to controversy — but that’s hardly surprising when his vitriolic rantings, littered with factual inaccuracies and with a paucity of substantive evidence to back his wild arguments, reveal an endless bigotry and prejudiced posturing more in keeping with the previous regime.

The question is whether he’s gone too far on this one. I suppose that all depends on whether Media24 believes its advertising revenues to be threatened through potential boycotts of its various outlets (after all, that was what gave Deon Maas the shove).

Instead of firing him, perhaps the media giant should find the repressed little columnist a therapist — as one can’t help wondering whether his views reflect a certain desire to vent about deeply personal issues that he can’t quite put to bed (literally, it would seem, in the case of his latest column).

But help is surely at hand. Qwelane’s pal, Zuma, has let slip his stance on gays before (fondly reminiscing how, as a youth, he would “strike the unqili”); so perhaps dear old umshini will be the politician that can muster, as Qwelane urges, “the balls to rewrite the Constitution of this country, to excise those sections which give licence to men ‘marrying’ other men, and ditto women”.

Qwelane will never know if Zuma will become his point-man on anti-moffie morality unless he gets together with him. They should have a macho man-to-man shower session and put their heads together to discuss things.

After the furore surrounding Jon Qwelane’s gay-bashing column in the Sunday Sun Smut, News24.c

After the furore surrounding Jon Qwelane’s gay-bashing column in the Sunday Sun Smut, News24.com apparently decided not to publish it – as they usually do with Qwelane’s muck. As it turns out, a UCT blog called Media Flaws has a copy which has been reproduced below. So, if you’re curious as to see what the fuss was about, read on….

Call me names, but gay is NOT okay…

Oh dear, here we go yet again. The Anglican Church is heading for a split in its ranks, and homosexuals are the reason. The church faces the first real schism since the day Henry VIII walked angrily out of the Catholic community to lead his own faction, because Rome would not sanction his marriage to Anne Boleyn, his brother’s widow. This time some leftists among the Anglican Communion want not only more homosexuals ordained as bishops, but women as well.

The real problem, as I see it, is the rapid degradation of values and traditions by the so-called liberal influences of nowadays; you regularly see men kissing other men in public, walking holding hands and shamelessly flaunting what are misleadingly termed their “lifestyle” and “sexual preferences”. There could be a few things I could take issue with Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, but his unflinching and unapologetic stance over homosexuals is definitely not among those. Why, only this very month – you’d better believe this – a man, in a homosexual relationship with another man, gave birth to a child!

At least the so-called husband in that relationship hit the jackpot, making me wonder what it is these people have against the natural order of things. And by the way, please tell the Human Rights Commission that I totally refuse to withdraw or apologise for my views. I will write no letters to the commission either, explaining my thoughts.

Trouble in the Anglican Communion began when the Episcopalian fraternity in America (where else?) decided to ordain a homosexual as bishop of the flock. Here in South Africa we had a senior officer of the church in Cape Town parading his “gay lifestyle” openly. The 10-yearly Lambeth Conference in England – the gathering is the world “synod” of the church – will deliberate the delicate matter of women and homosexual bishops, among other things.

Homosexuals and their backers will call me names, printable and not, for stating as I have always done my serious reservations about their “lifestyle and sexual preferences”, but quite frankly I don’t give a damn: wrong is wrong! I do pray that some day a bunch of politicians with their heads affixed firmly to their necks will muster the balls to rewrite the constitution of this country, to excise those sections which give licence to men “marrying” other men, and ditto women. Otherwise, at this rate, how soon before some idiot demands to “marry” an animal, and argues that this constitution “allows” it? – by Jon Qwelane.

–end of article

I don’t mean only men but rather just the human race, saying humans or people just didn’

I don’t mean only men but rather just the human race, saying humans or people just didn’t sound right to me.

In all honestly I have avoided the local news for many reasons, Zimbabwe’s fake talks – not one Zimbabwean believes it to be true or useful. They still have their 7pm curfews. They still fear their lives every moment of every day. They still have to cross the border to get milk and coffee. You go to the shop and there are different loaves of bread. There is more than just 500ml milk bottles and what is more you will find that you can choose between non fat, 2% and full cream… they don’t get a choice, if they get milk at all it is a miracle, if they get a loaf of bread that they didn’t have to bake there is a party. Jam or Jelly? Hell that is a true luxury to Zimbabweans.

In our news we get reports of who the police have caught because, yes, it is a true news worthy event, something that happens very rarely.

Cape Judge President Hlophe allegedly approached some of the Constitutional Court’s judges improperly while they were deciding on cases involving African National Congress president Jacob Zuma. That is the polite way of saying he tried to bribe them. Jacob Zuma is said to be the next president of our country, he is currently up for corruption and who knows what else.

The world loves Zuma because he says what they want him to say, the western world thought the same about Mugabe *shrug*. By the way what number wife is he on now? No not divorce I mean at the same time? Is it his 4th or 5th? Ah Africa we love you.

Right now for the big one that just solidifies in my mind why South Africa is the definition of hypocrisy and contradiction. One moment a politician is caught saying “The foreigners are taking all our jobs, they are causing all our problems” next moment we have Xenophobic attacks killing well over 50 people and causing devastation. Then the next week the lovely man from the ANC Youth League announces that they will kill for Zuma. Fabulous I tell you. Least now you know who you are currently killing for. There is death everywhere we look. You know, it really does make me feel a bit more calm, a bit better, knowing there is a purpose and reason for all the killing, murder and pillage. The relief I can not quantify into words, heaven in Africa!

Sorry I got side tracked so easy once I get started on South Africa, can’t exactly just narrow it down considering there is so much to cover.

Now my favourite human in all of the world…

Jon Qwelane

He is a man that either has really small raisins, I mean forget prunes, I am talking raisins now or is gay and just can’t come to terms with it. What is the big fuss? I won’t add any more, Amandzing (Jon Qwelane) and Sanitypoint (Jon Qwelane is gay) said it all.

I just have one thing to ask…

What would happen if the topic was race?

What would happen if it was any other topic of human rights?

What would happen?

One day soon I will write about the similarities of then and now

You will be sickened to your core.

Enough

I will leave you with this….

Two recent court cases have earned the attention of newspaper readers in South Africa .

1. One person was fined R1 000 ($130) for not having a TV license.
2. Another was released on bail for R500 ($60) after being arrested for murder.

The moral of this South African story:

If you do not have a TV license and the inspector comes round, kill him. You’ll save R500.

….It’s the Right Thing To Do….

(yes we need licenses to own TV’s…)

I never realised the power of the Internet as a political tool until this whole Jon Qwelane gay bash

I never realised the power of the Internet as a political tool until this whole Jon Qwelane gay bashing incident. It is amazing how within a few days an entire community gathered together on-line against a common foe. Through Facebook a group sprang up to gather the armies and discuss the way forward. Blogs heated up as people posted their views on his article from all walks of life. E-mail campaigns started up to not only the Sunday Sun (that ran the piece), but also to the Human Rights Commission, Press Ombudsman, advertisers, shareholders, and other media.

In the olden days someone would get it if a tree falls on him – but in Jon’s case I think it is more of an e-tree. This time he picked the wrong target.

If you want to get involved in the e-tree then here is a list of links you can use to follow the story:

Jon Qwelane’s article ‘Call Me Names But Gay is Not Okay‘ refers: I am liberal. I

Jon Qwelane’s article ‘Call Me Names But Gay is Not Okay‘ refers: I am liberal. I think you, reading my blog would have picked up on that. I am not afraid to say what I believe and I will defend something that I believe is right until I am black and blue. But one thing I do not condone is defending an opinion with outright hate speech. Jon Qwelane, a so-called journalist for Media 24 has done just this – taken something that he believes and put it out to the public and has spat in the face of freedom of speech.

I know many people who are homophobic. I choose not to associate with them but I have given them the time of day to find out what they believe is wrong about gays and why. Most of them say that it is against their religion, it’s unnatural and it’s just wrong. But not a single one of those people have said it outwardly in a public sphere to anyone who would listen – they told me this in confidence. They choose to keep away from homosexuals, just like a Democratic Alliance supporter would keep away from an ANC supporter or even a Liverpool fan would keep away from a Manchester United fan. It all comes down to peaceful coexistence regardless of belief. The logical thing to do is to just stay away from those you feel are not your kind. You don’t go looking for fights. And you definitely do not publish an article which amounts to nothing but hate speech.

Jon Qwelane has proven time and time again that he is what I call a Black Bigot. His open support of Mugabe and Zuma, his constant rantings on politics and his outward racism against whites and Indians have been a trademark since he embarked on what he calls journalistic endeavors. He has been called the Paris Hilton of journalism and this, I feel, is apt. His words are no more entertaining and enlightening than her crotch shots or sex tape for that matter. If what Qwelane is doing is going for the ’shock factor’, sorry mate, you’re just proving yourself to be a blithering idiot.

Homosexuality is probably the only form of gender equality the world has seen since the dawn of time. My homosexual friends find it second nature to talk about anything, including guy gadgets, makeup, gym, the Emmy Awards and their latest shag, in the same breath. They can get away with wearing anything, are comfortable with checking out both men and women and can be masculine or feminine. Homosexuality is the essentially the epitome of breaking down gender stereotypes that have become so entrenched in our minds. I find it sad, though, that this is slowly being ignored as the stereotype of the ‘fag’ and ‘dyke’ have come into play, covering up what homosexuality truly means to society. But that’s another kettle of fish. My point is that gays are not hurting anyone!!! Why not bash Zuma, who not only raped Kwezi but the justice system as well? Why not bash Mugabe who has destroyed Zimbabwe and the meaning of democracy? Why not bash our government for failing to educate and protect its people? Why bash people who are merely existing?

Qwelane talks about “the rapid degradation of values and traditions by the so-called liberal influences of nowadays” – this is not because of homosexuals. It’s because of close minded people like Qwelane himself who condone the actions of corrupt politicians and condemn people for their personal sexual preferences. It is not homosexuality that is to blame for our moral degradation. When people believe that someone consenting to sexual activities with the same sex is worse than someone non-consensually shoving their penis into a vagina and then getting away with it, the problem is clear. It’s you, Qwelane, and all who think like you.

Now just when I thought we got over the whole Xenophobia thing of a few months ago, here comes a wonderfull write up by Jon Qwelane about how gays should be treated in South Africa like good old Bob did with his – eradicate!

This guy managed to do one thing though – get the whole community united against him, and his publishers.

To read the hate filled article he wrote simply go here. Or join the Facebook group united against his horrible comments.

With people like him in the country – who needs enemies?
