Welcome to another installment of The Daily Blowhole’s Youtube Spotlight. This one is about one of my favorite Youtube shows, ‘Is It A Good Idea To Microwave This?’

What do you get when you put together microwaves with chick names, a makeshift laboratory, a fan, a door covered with tinfoil, and three guys from Boston? A hit show that’s what!

This awesome show first started on July 1, 2007 when our host Jory microwaved a light bulb in a microwave that was left behind after everyone had moved out of his college dorm. Now this show is in to its seventh season with new episodes airing every Monday and Friday. It is one of the top 5 highest rated entertainment shows on Youtube.

What makes this show entertaining to watch isn’t so much the crap that explodes inside the cutely female named microwaves as much as it is listening to the guys talk. They make references to movies, current events and life and of course, as guys will, they make sex jokes and act like goof balls.

Jory Caron, age 21, is the host and co-creator/writer, Riley Mcllwain, age 18, is the sidekick and still photographer, and Jonathan Paula, age 23, is the cameraman, editor, co-creator/writer, director, and occasional co-host. Together they form a dynamic trio that is so easy to watch because you can imagine yourself being friends with them. They give me something to look forward to on Mondays.

Even though this show seems to be their most popular, these guys have a few others including “Live Time With Jon & Jory” on Thursdays at 8pm EDT, “Roller Coaster Commotion” (A personal favorite) on hiatus since they’ve been kicked out of most amusement parks at this point, “3 Steps to Success” on hiatus, “The Roadhouse” undefined radio show, and their newest project “Movie Night with Jonny Paula” on Wednesdays.

These shows aren’t just hobbies for the guys; they actually get paid through Youtube advertisements and make enough so that creating these shows is their full time job. Not a bad way to make a living huh?

Not to pick a favorite but the ladies seem to love Jory, during the live shows he gets hit on more than a southern woman. He is a cutie but personally I prefer Riley and he’s no longer jail bait. LOL Even if you think the roasted nuts joke is stupid you can’t say that this show isn’t kinda addictive and it isn’t something you might have done or wanted to down when you were younger with your friends. So is it a good idea to watch “Is It A Good Idea To Microwave This?” Absolutely! Now that you just got your crash course on all things “Is It A Good Idea to Microwave This?” go watch, rate, sub, and enjoy!

A partida deste domingo, às 17h, contra o Coritiba, no Mineirão, marcará o reencontro do mestre com um antigo pupilo. De um lado estará o lateral-direito Jonathan e do outro o técnico do time paranaense Ney Franco, que dirigiu o jogador por dois anos na equipe júnior e foi o responsável por subir o atleta para o profissional. 

Jonathan, natural de Conselheiro Lafaiete, na região central de Minas Gerais, chegou ao Cruzeiro em 1999, para a categoria pré-infantil. O jogador atuou com Ney Franco em 2003 e 2004 no sub-20 celeste.

Ney Franco chegou ao Cruzeiro em 1995 para comandar o time infantil e permaneceu até 2005, tendo passado por todas as categorias de base do Clube. O trabalho do treinador na formação de atletas foi bem-sucedido  e com inúmeros títulos conquistados.

Quando era funcionário do Clube, Ney Franco dirigiu o time profissional como interino em duas oportunidades, com destaque para os sete jogos na reta final do Campeonato Brasileiro de 2004. Naquela época o técnico promoveu a estreia de Jonathan no time profissional do Cruzeiro, na última partida da temporada, contra o Flamengo.

“Eu conheço o Ney. É um profissional muito competente, trabalhei com ele na base e meu primeiro jogo como profissional foi com ele, em 2004. Vai ser um jogo difícil pela situação em que o Coritiba se encontra. Acho que não vai ser fácil. Temos que respeitar a equipe deles porque têm bons jogadores e contamos com o apoio da torcida”, destacou.

O lateral-direito Jonathan, do Cruzeiro, é mais uma vítima de um crime cibernético. Ele ‘ganhou’ um perfil falso no Twitter. Avisado do fato pela imprensa, o cruzeirense disse que vai buscar orientação para tentar evitar prejuízos.

- Se eu souber qual a providência que vou ter de tomar, com certeza vou tomar, porque o que essa pessoa vem escrevendo e falando é mentira. Eu nunca tive Twitter, nunca tive Orkut, não gosto muito de computador. Então, estou tranqüilo quanto a isso. Espero que o torcedor entenda que esse Twitter é falso, não é meu – esclareceu Jonathan. 

O lateral aproveitou para mandar um recado ao autor do perfil falso:

- Caso essa pessoa estiver lendo essa entrevista, o que eu tenho a dizer é que ela tem de procurar algum serviço, porque está se preocupando demais com a minha vida. Acho que essa pessoa não tem mais o que fazer, porque ficar falando coisas por mim, até coisas absurdas que fiquei sabendo que ela colocou ali. O torcedor não vai nem acreditar – afirmou o lateral do Cruzeiro.

Algumas das mensagens no perfil falso de Jonathan no Twitter foram motivadas pelas declarações recentes do jogador, de que seria um dos melhores laterais do país. E o jogador disse que exagerou nos elogios a si próprio.

- Acho que algumas declarações que eu dei aqui realmente geraram polêmica. Tenho que pedir desculpas aos torcedores, a alguns jogadores da posição que ficaram chateados. Eu me exaltei, pelo momento que estou vivendo, mas acho que não tenho de demonstrar isso falando, acho que tenho de demonstrar dentro de campo, porque sabemos que futebol é momento, e da mesma forma que vivo um bom momento, amanhã posso viver um momento ruim, e aí todo mundo vai começar a criticar.

Vaknade för en timme sedan av att Jonathan var vrålhungrig. Han grät en stund till han fick flaskan till munnen och då sa det PANG. Lattesuget blev för stort! Klockan sex på morgonen knäppte jag skjortan och gick ner för ett par minuter av äkta hantverk! Två nespresso-kapslar, några av de sista få goda – och då är jag inne och nallar på mina “demoex” som ligger i visningslådan, ungefär som en Alladin-ask. Hänger ni med? Hursomhelst, latten smakade helt förträffligt, det var som från vilken fyrtiotvåkronors-latte som helst och jag avnjöt den framför höstfönstret med ett avsnitt av Fotbollskanalen Europa – en helt fantastisk kombination av det bästa av två världar. Fotboll och kaffe, inte som fotboll och bärs utan bättre. I alla fall klockan sex på morgonen.

Mötesbögeri, möte för sakens skull, på jobbet idag för de som inte gick förra veckan. Jag “råkar” nog halka in någon halvtimme tidigare idag, inte alls för att ta del av smörgåsbordet där mängder av gott pålägg, goda juicer och kaffe serveras utan mest för att jag vill vara redo.

När jag satt och kollade igenom kort i iPhoto fanns det mycket som berörde. Från förra hösten. Jonathans födelse, förlossningen och hemkomsten. Hur spännande och nytt det var – man visste ingenting av vad som väntade, man kunde bara gissa. Och sedan guldmatchen, (Läs den) den när Kalmar FF för första gången på nästan hundra år säkrade guldet i Allsvenskan. När vi rusade in på planen och dansade av glädje med de andra fansen och våra gudar – de röda bröderna med en krabbig Henrik Rydström i fören. Vilka fantastiska minnen, denna hösten har inte varit lika händelserik men ändock magisk. Jonathan gör våra liv så mycket mer värda. Livet kretsar kring helt andra saker nu, långt bort från festerna och Avenyn. Och när man går igenom denna “förändring” och får perspektiv på saker och ting förstår man var som egentligen betyder något, vad som är oviktigt. Jag älskar min familj, både de här i Göteborg och i Kalmar!

Framstupa Coldplay-läge. Stämningsfullt i höstmörkret och en bra start på dagen. Musiken som man inte hinner med så mycket som man vill. Men jag passar på, som nu. Ensam på morgonen, då slipper jag störa resten av familjen när jag sitter med mina lurar och njuter. Eller när jag städar, då pluggar jag i lurarna och då är det inga problem, det är inte det minsta tråkigt för musiken tar övertaget och gör det till något kul.

Jul-schemat är vad det är, så har det alltid varit. Några får ett guld-schema, några inte. Några gör sig ett guld-schema med hjälp av “lagliga” pappadagar och det är inte mig själv jag pratar om. Jag kunde gjort det, men gjorde det inte. Ångrar det på sätt och vis nu. Det är fult gjort mot de andra men i krig är allt tillåtet och när de som gnället nu får barn kommer de göra detsamma för att få en jul med de kära. Jag är ledig måndag, jobbar tisdag, onsdag och är ledig på julafton(som alla andra på jobbet) jobbar igen vid klockan åtta på juldagen och är inte ledig förrän på söndagen. Sen jobbar jag i stort sett varje dag till och MED nyårsafton. Tungt att inte kunna träffa mamma och syster under jul, men vi får ta det i efterhand. Efter nyår. För då jävlar är jag föräldrarledig!

going gluten-free was always something i’d hoped to avoid, but for jonathan’s sake, seems to be necessary at the moment. i don’t think he has full-blown celiac’s disease, but we’re still experimenting on what his level of tolerance is. so far it hasn’t been as painful a transition as i thought it would be. seems like there are a lot more resources now than in the past (check out one of my new favorite blogs) and i’ve gotten some tried and true recipes from my sister as well. so far i’m having better luck mixing my own flour than buying the premade stuff. i just wish it wasn’t more expensive. one step at a time…

Eoin Morgan and Jonathan Trott are expected to head the next group of England players chasing the potential riches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2010.

The two batsmen are the brightest sparks to emerge in the one-day side this year and it is understood that contact has been made already between franchises and representatives of the pair.

Middlesex and Warwickshire are aware that their players are keen to join the world’s leading lights for the third version of the Twenty20 competition that has transformed the game.

A recent three-day conference of IPL officials and stakeholders in Bangkok decided that an auction will take place in Mumbai on January 19, with each of the franchises allowed to spend up to $750,000 (about £452,000) in total on new players.

Alternatively, players can be signed outside the auction subject to the overall wage cap but, in the past, it has proved logistically difficult for players from England and elsewhere to satisfy the complicated demands of the organisers and pursue such a route.MBT  

The coming wave of contracts is likely to be for a single year, with the present plan to put all the players up for auction again in 2011, when the event is scheduled to be expanded from eight to ten teams. With most of the world’s best already signed up, the coming sale is effectively an interim process.

Last week I wrote my 200th blog entry. This is #201. In honor of the occasion, I decided to shave my beard. It’s gone now, but I have this picture for the memory. Maybe I’ll grow another one next year. Beards are kind of annoying and I always seem to spill yogurt in mine. It can be difficult to get out.

Efter en och en halv vecka kan jag nog kalla mig frisk. Hostan är kvar och likaså snuvan men sånt kan man väl ha ändå, trots att man inte är sjuk?

Värre är det med Jonathan. Jag känner knappt igen min lille son! Innan var han alltid solstrålen själv. Alltid ett stort leende på läpparna och tyckte det mesta var roligt men sen vi blev sjuka gråter han många gånger per dag och vill hela tiden bli lyft. Han sover lite sämre också och det är inte utan att man blir orolig för han känns som sagt inte riktigt igen. Och på så små barn, som inte kan berätta med ord vad det är som är fel, är det lite svårt. Vi tror att det kanske gör ont i öronen eller om han har ont i halsen men det är svårt att veta. Hoppas att går tillbaka snart, för jag saknar den glada killen!

I morgon hoppas jag på bra väder så vi kan ut och leka lite. När regnet öser ner är det inte lika kul att springa omkring på lekplatsen – det är inte bara jag som tycker det, Jonathan ville hem sist vi var ute. Och i morgon ska Alexandra och jag på årsmöte med bostadsrättsföreningen. Hoppas man får svar på en del viktiga frågor och jag hoppas gratismaten håller kvalité!

Någon som har något förslag på film? Jag har lyckats försaka våra filmkvällar då jag varit alldeles för trött och somnat. Stackars Alexandra har fått se filmen själv, hon är definitivt värd bättre!

El amor (y lo que no es el amor) fluye en Fama ¡a bailar! 3. Parece que desde que Javier ha cambiado su actitud y expresión a la hora de bailar, está más entregado a su relación con Víctor, pues se les ve juntitos y acaramelados. Según Sandra, Víctor está muy pillado por el chaval.

Otro que no pierde el tiempo es Jonathan. Ayer nos lo adelantaban y hoy lo hemos visto: él y Anabel han estado juntos en la sauna y durante bastante rato. Los rumores, claro está, se han disparado, y la gente cree que han estado haciendo cositas, algo que ellos han desmentido, aunque la imagen censurada de Jonathan mirándose el miembro con cara de satisfacción creo que resume todo lo que han hecho de verdad, ¿o no?

Luego, al día siguiente, ha sido divertido ver a Lourdes muerta de celos, que ni le dirigía la palabra al italiano, y es que no puede ser que te regalen tanto el oído para irte, a la primera de cambio, con otra a “divertirte” a la sauna.

And Granny would tell you so,
For McIntosh, Fuji and Braeburn,
Are just part of the list, you know.
Here come Jonathan, Pippin and Gravenstein,
Nicola, Baldwin and Rome,
Adams Pearmain and Ambrosia,
Pink Lady and Ginger Gold.
And these apples adorn the Gala,
Even Rambo makes a Cameo…

But Liberty will always stand,
Like a Honey Crisp Northern Spy,

Will make Jazz apples shy.
But no matter how you like d’em apples,

Hi everyone, I’m playing catch up again.  I don’t know if things will ever slow down!  Maybe after the New Year!  Sad we have to wait so long!  Anyways,  I thought I’d share a little of what has been going on around here.  Jonathan had his band clinic last weekend.  He did great!  I was soo proud, wanted to bawl my eyes out.  He’s just growing up way to fast!  I wasn’t allowed to take pictures in the concert hall, but I’ll post a link to where you can visit the photog site.  http://jackcleary2.com/site/#/gallery/symphonic-band/  Now, let’s just see how many of you can actually find him in all those kids.  

Tabs birthday was on Friday, I had a wonderful post in my head and never did get around to posting it.  Maybe later!  I do want to share some pictures.  Oh, what a good time this little one had with her cake!  I don’t know if I’ve ever seen one that had so much fun!  I wish I had taken the cake out of the box so you could see it better.  It was such a cute cake.

Broadmoor Criminal Lunatic Asylum

Astonishingly, in 1927…forty years later, a much older Kelly voluntarily returns to the insane asylum and began to chronicle his travels. A typed copy of Kelly’s confession letter survives in the National Archives, and Norris is the first detective to read it. In the letter, Kelly describes having “problems dealing with society“, and being “overtaken with feelings of envy, jealousy, and malice“. Kelly states, “the thing has been hard because of all kinds of ’skank’” (a term he uses to refers to women of low moral character) and “I’ve been on the warpath since I left Broadmoor Asylum.” Also in his letter, he admits to traveling to London after his escape, and more interestingly he tells of traveling to the United States and arriving in New York conveniently before the Carrie Brown murder. He was by profession, a trained upholsterer, and would have known quiet a bit about knives and how to use them effectively for the purpose of murder. Kelly also mentioned traveling to many cities in the US before returning to England and admitted that he came to the US many times over a period of 40 years.

The left composite, was drawn based on 118 year old eye-witness accounts of Jack the Ripper in London. They examined different witness statements and used modern day forensics to come up with a portrait of the killer, even indicating what type of hat he wore.

The drawing on the right, is the result of Mancusi shaving 40 years off of James Kelly’s photo at age 67. As you can see, once they added the type of hat mentioned by eye witnesses, the drawings are a very close match.

In the end, there is no doubt in Norris’ mind that he has found Jack the Ripper. We may never know. John Kelly died of natural causes in 1929 inside Broadmoor Asylum and took his secrets to his grave. In my opinion, Jack the Ripper in America was very well done and is a must-see for all forensic buffs and amateur Ripperologists. I’m interested in seeing further research, analysis and discussion of Norris’ theory. Regarding any factual errors in this post, I apologize in advance, and encourage everyone to let me know what needs to be corrected.

Time After Time

On a lighter note, anybody remember the movie “Time After Time” starring Malcolm McDowell, John Warner and Mary Steenburgen? McDowell played H.G. Wells, who uses his time machine to chase his friend, Warner (aka Jack the Ripper) through the streets of modern day (1979) San Francisco. After watching Norris’ documentary, maybe Hollywood’s silly (but entertaining) version of the Ripper story had a sliver of truth to it after all.
